2023; Peter Obi Presidential Candidacy Is Disrupting The Old Political Set-up In Nigeria

By Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia

Obi’s candidacy is the only one that is inspiring new voters or young Nigerians to come out to vote.

Obi’s candidacy is appealing to those who never voted before in Nigeria to register to vote.

It is a PDP loss due to their poor strategy.Obi as a PDP candidate would have kept PDP old members and their votes for the party and attract new votes for PDP, especially from young people that want Nigeria to get better.

From now to the election is about 8months and with what is happening, Obi’s aspiration is closing the old sentiments of tribe, religion etc in Nigeria politics and if he sustains his issue base engagement, he will shock bookmakers in 2023.

I warned PDP that Obi was their best chance to regain power and they were busy talking about Aspirants instead of Candidacy!Obi in PDP was a weak aspirant who does not control the party’s state PDP machineries needed to win PDP primaries except consensus arraignment, but he was to be a STRONG candidate once with a ticket, a reality PDP did not put into consideration.

Today, Obi is in the Labour party, driving the third force.Where will PDP get new votes to fill what they lost with Obi’s exit?Where will they get votes to fill what Kwankwanso left with?Does Atiku lead PDP Presidential ticket appealing to new votes from Nigerians most of them have never voted before?

No!While PDP is losing its old grounds, they don’t also have an incumbency advantage. They also don’t have the masses! In 2019, PDP’s Atiku lost to APC’s Buhari with 3,928,869 vote (3million plus votes).

Instead of thinking on how to fill the 3.9 million votes APC used to beat them in 2019, PDP is rather losing more votes ahead of 2023 with Obi and Kwakwanso’s exit from the party. It is not going to be Atiku Vs Buhari in 2023 and PDP will have no extra votes.

Obi is provoking Young Nigerians who had lost interest in Nigeria to start having a rethink with his HOPE inspiring issue-based engagement.

This group of young Nigerians are likely to close the religious and ethnic sentiments that have divided the country with their support for #Obi2023.Forget it, PDP has no chance in the 2023 Presidential election.

Landslide Victory As Onyegbula Wins PDP Ticket For Orlu, Orsu And Oru East Federal Constituency

By Kennedy Nzerem

Renowned entrepreneur and accomplished philanthropist, Chief Kingsley Onyegbula, has emerged victorious at the primary election of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for Orlu/Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State which held at the Imo State Secretariat of the party in Owerri on Sunday. Onyegbula who polled a total of 75 votes to beat other contenders was therefore declared winner and returned elected as the 2023 flag bearer of the party.

It could be recalled that the National Working Committee of the PDP had annulled the earlier primary election for Orlu/Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency following reported cases of irregularities and had accordingly ordered a fresh poll.

In his remarks before the commencement of the exercise, the Imo State Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Nze Law Biaduo, highlighted that the party places high importance on freeness, fairness, openness and credibility of its primaries, hence the need to organize the the entire process openly in the full glare of everyone. He also called on the agents to the aspirants to ensure they observe properly how the exercise would be conducted, so as to engender collective faith in the outcome.

Meanwhile, widespread jubilation has continued to sweep through many communities in Orlu, Orsu and Oru East in the aftermath of Onyegbula’s victory, with stakeholders describing his emergence as a true reflection of the expectations of the party faithful.

A PDP stalwart from Orlu who spoke on condition of anonymity averred that for decades Kingsley Onyegbula has run his Kingseoul Foundation through which he has touched thousands of lives. “With Kingsley on the ticket of the PDP, victory is assured for the party”, he said.

Outrage As Lady Dies After Plastic Surgery, Police Seek Information

Alady, identified simply as Crystabel, has died after surgery at the Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Clinics, in the Mende area of Maryland, Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Crystabel visited the medical facility on Okunola Aina Street, Mende, for plastic surgery.

A lady, identified simply as Posha, said the victim died from the complications she had during the surgery.

Posha, who tweeted using her handle, @poshcupcake_1, said aggrieved friends and family members of the victim had been demanding justice for her.

She wrote, “Now, I’m not against anybody that wants to enhance their body, but I’m against doctors that claim they have experience abroad, come down to Nigeria to kill young people.

“After the surgery, she complained of bleeding and the doctors claimed (it) is normal, it will stop. Now, this is the problem, how are you a professional plastic surgeon with experience abroad and someone you finished operating on complained about bleeding and you said (it) is normal, it will stop? Neglecting her, no care whatsoever! Are you sick!”
Posha said Crystabel allegedly died because her complaint was neglected, adding that her friends suspected something was wrong when she didn’t inform them that she had returned from the facility.

She said, “The most annoying part here is, this gal died days ago without anybody knowing and the hospital did not find it needful to contact any of her relatives. Until a few friends who knew she was going for surgery said she was supposed to have been back.
“They decided to go to the hospital to check on her; arriving, they were offered a letter that her body had been deposited at the mortuary. This is sickening, now I think the government needs to come into this health system and check the capability of most surgeons.

“And make their own research if really they are well trained surgeons to be able to operate on humans (and) if not, their license should be seized! Arrest and jailed! RIP Crystabel. They have blocked all the comments, because her friends were commenting and seeking justice.”
Two of Crystabel’s pictures were attached to the tweet.

Reacting to Posha’s post, a Twitter user, @Kinetic1One, while lamenting the events that led to Crystabel’s death, urged ladies to visit actual professionals for body enhancements.
“Too many ladies have died for nothing,” the user added.

Reacting, the management of the medical facility, in a statement posted on its Instagram handle on Thursday, commiserated with the briefed family, adding that Crystabel underwent surgery at the hospital seven days ago.

The post read in part, “She was properly investigated pre-surgery; her blood level was adequate, her renal and liver functions were normal. She was stable, doing well after the surgery, was seen walking around (fully ambulatory) (video clips of this have been shared with her family) and was visited by a friend as well.

“She was with us for four days, when on the 4th day, during the ward rounds (as she was due to be discharged the following day), it was observed that she was symptomatically anaemic despite earlier interventions to prevent that, which included an initial blood transfusion on Post OP Day 2, which went successfully without any incident. Her Pack Cell Volume was checked and rechecked and it was low, which was attributed to the loss from intra-operation and from daily Lymphatic drainage messages following the liposuction procedure.

“She was duly informed about the situation and assured that we were again initiating blood transfusion and she duly consented. We contacted the same blood bank and requested that they give us two more units of blood for her to be transfused with.

Suffice to say that the blood bank is a very reputable blood bank which is fully licensed and registered with the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency.”
The hospital said the blood units arrived at its facility after it was properly screened, grouped and cross-matched to ensure it was compatible with Crystabel’s blood group.

It revealed that blood transfusion was commenced and 10 minutes after completion, post-transfusion vitals checks revealed that she had a fever, which was managed.
“This was late evening on the 4th day post OP (30th May, 2022). She had no complaints, had her dinner and retired for the evening.

“About four hours after transfusion, she started complaining of chest tightness, difficulty in breathing and coughing with production of thick frothy yellowish sputum in the early hours of the 5th day (31st May, 2022), having suffered a very rare acute blood transfusion reaction evidenced by the dark-coloured urine produced and the findings on chest examination.

“She was promptly attended to, with life-saving intervention and was observed to be clinically improving as evidenced by the clearing up of the colour of the urine with adequate urine output. As the day progressed, she took a turn as her lung function was no longer clinically improving despite being on 100% oxygen at high flow whilst fully conscious and communicative.
“More life-saving interventions were put in place, including an arrangement to be transferred to an ICU. She deteriorated, as these plans were in motion and sadly, we lost her despite valiant efforts by the team to prevent that. We were unable to reach her next of kin on account of a wrongly copied phone contact and were only able to establish contact with the family through a third party within three hours of her death,” the statement added.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the case was not reported.
“I saw it on Twitter and I told them to report the matter at the nearest police station so the command could commence investigation into the incident,” he added.
Several ladies have lost their lives in reported cases of failed plastic surgery.

PUNCH Metro had reported that the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, urged the Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Investigation Panel to investigate a Lagos-based cosmetic surgeon who continued performing plastic surgeries despite the fact that her facility was sealed off by the state government.

Nigerians Needs Peter Obi More Than He Needs Them

The Labour Party standard bearer in the 2023 Presidential Election Mazi Peter Obi is the best hand that God has given to fix Nigeria, he’s educated and have got the experience in governance with ideas on how to get it fixed.

In his analysis on how he will fix this country God willing as Stated below.

” I can’t sleep because I know what to do! I have gone round the 36 States of the country like I have gone round 31 countries of the world, I know the problems of Nigeria and I know I can fix them easily! Because I can see them, I can fix them! Hunger takes people to the streets! Job and food will obviously take them out of crimes!

That’s my specialty, creating jobs and wealth! I have not come out for myself! I have come out for the millions of youths that are losing hope in our beloved country!

I have come out for the millions of women who are afraid of tomorrow and what it holds for them and their children! I have come out for the poor who are asking weather it’s a sin to be a Nigerian! For them, I have come!

For people who are asking if Peter Obi has ‘structure’, what structure is bigger and stronger than the collective will of the masses on whose necks the knees of the politicians have been? What structure is greater than the determination of a people who have at last decided to take back their country, their only country?
The battle for the rescue of the soul of Nigerian has just begun and we must all be contributive and participative in it. Yes, we may not have the money to share because we didn’t steal any. We have not come to enslave but to serve.

Have you imagined somebody giving you money to help you? Bribing you to go and serve you? It’s wisdom to go for a permanent solution than a temporary remedy! This battle is to help Nigerian youths, Market women, struggling families, students, teachers, famers, old and poor, whose helpless looking faces I see everywhere I go.

It’s for these people that l, Peter Obi, have come! However, like a drowning man, they must bring out their hands to be saved! In this battle, if you can’t fly, run! If you can’t run, walk! If you can’t walk, crawl! If you can’t crawl, roll! If you can’t roll, shout! By all means we must be on the move and we must be heard!

These people are more than 50 million of the Nigerian voting adults. They have the power. Their destiny is in their hands so they can change it. If they will it, they will win it! Remember, the man with energy will always be at the mercy of the man with strategy based on synergy. With God on our side, we shall not fail and we shall not fall!!!!”
May God help us!
May God bless Nigeria!

Peter Obi is the MAN.

IT’S GOING TO BE A LANDSLIDE VICTORY COME 2023

JUST IN: Without Me, Buhari Wouldn’t Be President – Tinubu

A presidential aspirant and national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, said without him, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), would not have become the president in 2015.

Tinubu spoke at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, the state capital, while addressing the APC delegates ahead of the party’s primary.

The national leader was accompanied to Ogun by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his Kano State counterpart, Umar Ganduje, and former Borno State governor, Kasim Shettima.

“You have not heard this from me before. This is the first place I am saying this,” Tinubu who addressed the delegates in Yoruba said.

Speaking on Buhari’s emergence, he said “If not for me that led the war front, Buhari won’t have emerged. He contested first, second and third times, but lost. He even said on television that he won’t contest again.

“But I went to his home in Katsina, I told him you would contest and win, but you won’t joke with the matters of the Yoruba.

“Since he has emerged I have not been appointed minister. I didn’t get nor request a contract. This time, it’s Yoruba turn and in Yorubaland, it’s my turn.”

He added, “since the time we started with the Action Congress, Action Congress of Nigeria, and now the All Progressives Congress, I wanted to contest for president that time.

“This is me telling you between me and God Almighty, Buhari called me to be his Vice President. He said because the first time he contested, he picked (Chuba) Okadigbo, flamboyant, Catholic, but Nigerians didn’t vote for him.

“The second time, he picked another Igbo, (Edwin) Ume-Ezeoke, Nigerians didn’t vote for him. And he said that even if he went to bring the Pope to run as his deputy, Nigerians won’t vote for him, but he said, ‘You, Bola Tinubu, you have six governors, you have never lost an election before, come and be my deputy”‘.

“He knew all the calculations then favoured us, that is why he wanted me as his deputy, but I told him to let us build the party first. And when we finished building the party after we brought in people from the PDP, (Bukola) Saraki now saw that those from the PDP would not get anything if Buhari, a Muslim, became the president and I, also a Muslim, became his deputy. He won’t get the Senate president because the Senate president cannot also be a Muslim; that was how they started the campaign of calumny against me.

“And I told them that I have a candidate that is a Christian that I could nominate so that the party would not break. That was how I nominated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. I surrendered my right to him (Osinbajo).

“I was asked to submit three names, Yemi Cardozo, Wale Edun, and Yemi Osinbajo, but I told them if I submit three names, they would play a game, they might make it four and pick the fourth one. I gave them one name and that was Osinbajo.”

Speaking on why he is the best choice among other aspirants in the South-West, he said, “It is my time, I’m educated, I’m experienced. I have been serving people for a long time. Bring me the presidency, it is my turn.”

Imo: Police Seal Zenith Bank Branches Over Ex-Deputy Gov’s Benefits

Policemen on Thursday sealed all branches of Zenith Bank in Owerri, the Imo State capital, rendering staff and customers of the bank stranded.

Our correspondent who monitored the development saw policemen taking possession of the entrances to all the branches of the bank while staff and customers loitered around.
The stern-looking cops said that they were implementing a court judgment against the bank.

On inquiry, a staff of the bank who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the policemen were implementing a court judgment against the bank and the Imo State government.

He said that National Industrial Court in Owerri issued an absolute garnishee Order against the bank in a suit filed by a former deputy governor of Imo state, Eze Madumere, over his entitlements.

The staff said ” the policemen are implementing an absolute garnishee Order against Zenith bank in a matter filed by a former deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere against Imo state government over his owed entitlements by the state government.

“The order is for N1.9bn entitlements claim and the policemen have come to implement the court order. The court ordered that our bank( Zenith) which Imo state government has court here be sealed until the judgment is implemented.”
When contacted, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said that the judgment was given in error.

The Commissioner said, “the judge who gave the judgment did it in such a way that he connived with the people against the Imo State Government. How could a judge give a judgement and bar the defendants from appealing it and gave 24 hours for the implementation of the judgement.

“I think that there is a vested interest. We are exploring other legal options to vacant the order. The judgement can’t stand serious legal scrutiny anywhere. It is a kangaroo judgement. The whole entitlements of a former deputy governor is not more than N200m. So, I wonder why a judge will order the payment of such a bogus amount.

“There are policemen in Imo state but they went and brought policemen from zone 9 in Umuahia. Nobody can intimidate the government. We can’t be cowed. We must do what is right for the good of the people of Imo state.”
The spokesperson for Zenith Bank, Ayoola Kusimo, didn’t pick up our correspondent’s phone calls and he had yet to respond to a text message sent to his mobile line.

Ukraine Beat Scotland 3-1 To Keep World Cup Dream Alive

Ukraine are one game away from qualifying for the World Cup after beating Scotland 3-1 in a play-off semi-final in Glasgow on Wednesday in their first competitive match since the country was invaded by Russia.

Andriy Yarmolenko, Roman Yaremchuk and Artem Dovbyk scored the goals for Ukraine to set up a play-off final away to Wales on Sunday for a place in Qatar later this year.

The match had been moved from March, just weeks after the war began, to give Ukraine the chance to fulfil the fixture.

Six of the starting line-up for the visitors are still contracted to Ukrainian clubs and had not played competitively for months.
Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko broke down in tears on the eve of the game as he described how much it would mean to take Ukraine to the World Cup.

But they showed no signs of rust or letting the expectation of a nation weigh heavily on their shoulders.
The Ukrainian players entered the field draped in yellow and blue flags before an emotionally-charged national anthem which was applauded from all sides of the stadium.

Among the Ukranian support, children held up signs saying “stop war.”
However, once the action got underway, it was the small band of travelling supporters who had travelled from around the world to see their country who had far more to cheer.

Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon kept his side in the game early on.
The Hearts goalkeeper was named player of the year this season in the Scottish Premiership and showed why with stunning saves to deny Viktor Tsygankov and Yarmolenko.

Ukraine’s greater poise and technical ability soon told, though, as from Ruslan Malinovskyi’s through ball, Yarmolenko’s perfect control allowed him to lob the onrushing Gordon to make it 1-0 just after the half-hour mark.
Scotland had been unbeaten in eight games, but rarely threatened a response to keep alive their hopes of reaching a first World Cup since 1998.
Manager Steve Clarke tried to turn the tide at half-time by introducing Ryan Christie for the ineffective Lyndon Dykes in attack.

Within four minutes of the restart, Scotland’s mountain to climb got even steeper when Benfica striker Yaremchuk headed in Oleksandr Karavayev’s cross to the back post.
Scotland finally flickered into life to appease a frustrated sell-out crowd of 50,000 at Hampden Park in the final quarter.

John McGinn somehow headed wide from point-blank range after Georgiy Bushchan spilled Scott McTominay’s cross.
Another Bushchan error then did give Scotland a lifeline 11 minutes from time when Callum McGregor’s strike slipped through his grasp and just crossed the line before the defender could clear.

The Scots, though, lacked imagination in their search for an equaliser as Ukraine repelled a flurry of long balls.
Dovbyk then broke clear in the final seconds to put the seal on an emotional win by smashing home at Gordon’s near post.

I Was Kidnapped By Fulani Herdsmen Working With Soldiers, Paid N100m As Ransome – Methodist Prelate Reveals

SHOCKER!

The Methodist Church Nigeria Prelate, His Eminence Samuel Kanu Uche, have narrated his near death experience in the hands of kidnappers.

The Prelate alongside the Bishop of Owerri Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark and the Prelate’s chaplain were on Sunday, kidnapped in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia state.

Narrating his experience in a Press conference held at Methodist church yaba, Lagos state, the clergyman said their abductors were fulanis alleging that some personnel of the Nigerian Army from Fulani extraction were aiding the kidnappers in their activities.

In his word;

“these people came out from the bush;they divided themselves into 3 places; some people fired at us and there was another group in front to make sure that we didn’t run away; they fired shots at our vehicle and eventually, they abducted 3 of us.

“The communication man of the church was able to escape, the driver was able to escape; the abducted me, the bishop of Owerri and my chaplain and they took us to the bush and were torturing us. It was in the process of that torture that I hit my right eye on a tree. Even when blood was flowing and I was soaking my eyes with a handkerchief, they didn’t feel like anything happened.

“All they said was that we should follow them; that they were not actually against Nigerian citizens but against the government, that the government is a bad government.

“they are Fulani boys; all the 8 are fulanis; they said the day they will see the president or any of his representatives they will chew him raw; that he is their brother but he has disappointed them and has disappointed Nigeria.

” I said even though am part of government, am a church man am not a government official; they said okay, that is what have saved you, we would have killed you out-rightly without asking for any ransom but now that you are a church man, lets go inside the bush.

“I trekked up-to 15 kilometers but I knew that we were rigmaroling, going up going down and eventually at 11pm they said okay now we can negotiate; each of us will pay N50million and we are going to pay N150million. I thought it was a joke; I said we were going to pay 10million and they said what? Don’t say that; they lifted up their knife to cut me,I said please hold on.”

According to the clergy, the leader of the group is about 35 years while the others are about 18.

He said they had taken his rings, chain, took the money they had on them and insisted on 150 million ransom.

The clergy said the abductors came down to 100million ransom, warning that if they negotiate, they would be killed.

“I said okay. We will pay you N100 million. After some time, they said where is the money and I said this is Sunday night how can we get money this night and you know that there is this sit at home in igbo land. We cant afford the money now be patient till morning, we will make contacts.”

He said they lost patient, laid bishop Dennis Mark down, raised a knife to cut him, while another pointed a gun at him (prelate) to show that they were serious,

“I told them we will raise the money for you. But the irony of it, where they were situated, the soldiers all of Fulani extraction, Nigerian soldiers, they were there at Lomara junction and this boys were going behind them. Meanwhile they kept their cows somewhere, numbering about 200.

He said some people were taking care of the cows while the abductors were parading them around the bush until they settled at a place,

“they said when are you bring the money? I said by 12 noon, I will call the people i’ve contacted whether the money had been raised and I called them, they said that they are gathering the money and they heard it because they said I will use my phone to talk, they cant use their phone, they don’t want to be tracked

“their leader was born in igbo land but his parents have died. He said he was born around Umuahia Amuzukwu and his father was a cow dealer, the boy understood igbo”

He said the leader threatened to kill them if they informed security operatives when they had raised N100million.

The leader asked them to buy 5 ghana must go bags and put N20million in each bag. They left to pick the ransom while four others waited on them with guns.

“around 5;30pm, the youngest boy who I think is a younger brother to their commander said oga congratulations you are free you can go now. We have got our money, you can go. Let me show you the road.

“they took us to old road, where they wrote welcome to Imo’ and ‘goodbye from Abia”.

“they told us that after buying enough weapons, they are going to bring all those people that were driven away from zamfara, katsina, sambisa forest that they are all coming to locate themselves in igbo land and deal with us.

“he said do you know Ibadan expressway? We are in all the bush there , we are also in the south south, we are waiting for the slightest signal we will finish you people and take over this land. They claimed that Nigeria belong to Fulani.

The priest maintained that military personnel’s of Fulani extraction were aiding the kidnappers who disguise as herders in the daytime but are kidnappers at night.

He called on the government to take a decisive action ‘other wise what is happening in the north will be a child’s play”

On how they picked up the ransom, he said the terrorists came to the pick up spot with a truck without a number plate.

He stated that all efforts made to ensure that he is released was the effort of the Methodist church and her members and not security personnel nor government.

This House Has Fallen, To Rebuild It, We Must Break From Our Past -Kingsley Moghalu

The Presidential Aspirant in the forth coming election under the platform of ADC, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu has called on Nigerians make fool of this greedy and visionless politicians if Nigeria must be great again.

Prof. Moghalu said this in a release obtained by gisthub24.com turtles ”

This House Has Fallen, To Rebuild It, We Must Break From Our Past”

Below is the full speech.

The desperation of politicians in the 2023 presidential election cycle gives cause for alarm. From N100 million presidential nomination forms to $35,000 delegate bribes and INEC’s shifting of the deadline for primaries, seemingly to accommodate the political party in power today, there are dangerous omens.

It is up to us as Nigerians to decide if we will be fooled again in 2023. To make real progress, we must break from the past. We must now elect leaders who offer us a clear, coherent vision, competence, and a plan.

As an aspirant for the responsibility of President of Nigeria in 2023 on the platform of the African Democratic Democratic Congress (ADC), I offer our country a clear vision and plan, articulated in my book Build, Innovate and Grow (BIG). The high Office of President of Nigeria is a job, not an entitlement based on the number of years a candidate has spent in politics or merely on personal ambition. In 2023 Nigerians should elect a candidate who has the competences, experience and performance track record that is directly relevant to the job. The core functions of the President of Nigeria are (1) Nation-building (managing diversity, building a united nation, and building strong institutions); (2) National Security; (3) Economy; and (4) Foreign Affairs and International Diplomacy.

Based on these requirements, I am the man for the job. A modern, 21st century President of Nigeria. As a United Nations official for 17 years in which I rose by dint of hard work and competence from entry level Officer to the highest career bracket of Director and served on special assignment at the political level of Under-Secretary-General, in New York, Cambodia, Croatia, Rwanda, and Switzerland, I led teams that achieved lasting results in rebuilding failed states such as our country has become today, in international security operations, and in traditional international diplomacy.

I led resource mobilization and the building of global partnerships for the Geneva-based, $20billion Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria that has made social investments to support health systems and save lives in 140 countries including Nigeria. And as the founder and CEO of a global investment advisory firm in the private sector, I have advised and guided major foreign investors into Nigeria and other African countries.

As a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from 2009 to 2014, I led the execution of extensive reforms that saved the Nigerian financial system from collapse after the global financial crisis of 2008. Our work remains the stabilizing foundation of our financial system today.

I also led the team that developed and introduced the Bank Verification Number (BVN) which now serves nearly 50 million Nigerians in the banking system. My team and I facilitated the introduction of Non-Interest (Islamic) Banking that advanced financial inclusion, as well as the digitalization of the payment system that made it possible for nearly 100 million Nigerians to make and receive payments on their mobile phones. As a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN, I played an active leadership role, with other colleagues, in economic policy making that successfully crashed inflation from double digits to a single digit 8% by 2014. We managed foreign exchange policy successfully, with the Naira exchanging to the dollar at a rate in the range of N150-N165 to $1 during our tenure in office. These are transformative achievements in which one played a direct, leadership role. The impact of my life’s work so far has been deep, international, national, and local, empowering millions in Nigeria and around the world.

Having been a traditional politician in and of itself, say as a state Governor or Senator, without the knowledge of or exposure to managing complex diversity, sophisticated security operations, national economic management, or foreign affairs, does not prepare such an individual to be an effective president of Nigeria. Our failure to understand this is why we tend to make the wrong leadership choices. This is the lesson we should learn from Nigeria today as the failed state our country has become. The presidency is a unique job, not a mere political promotion or an entitlement.

In 2023, our present national crisis needs us to elect a President of Nigeria that will fix our economy, unite our diverse peoples, secure our territory and our people, and restore our standing in the world. I pledge to build and unify our country into One Nation with a common national ambition on which we all agree. We will proactively secure our country and its people in all of our geopolitical zones. We will build an economy that creates jobs and prosperity for our youth through innovation, manufacturing and skills through education reform that ends ASUU strikes permanently in Nigeria, and access to capital to start new businesses through a state-sponsored venture capital fund that will be managed efficiently by the private sector.

With my knowledge, experience and networks in international relations, my Government will make Nigeria influential and powerful abroad once again, based into the stability and prosperity we will create at home.

Fellow Nigerians, this house has fallen. Together, we will rebuild it to become stronger than it has ever been.

Peter Obi And 2023 Presidency: There’s Got To Be A Better Way The People’s Way.

We are watching what we have always seen every four years. Same old charades and obscene profligacy and display of illgotten wealth, our common wealth. Where’s the outrage?

But, someone has said No! to those charades geared at preserving the statusquo and the dysfunctional system that has shortchanged all of us and mortgaged the future of our children.

Gov Obi has stepped up to give the Nigerian people a choice, a better way. The question is are we ready for the the change and transformations we’ve yearned and prayed for. Perhaps it is now time to open our eyes to see the already prayer through the ma Named Peter, the Solid rock on which the new Nigeria will be built. It is now time watch and pray.

This is people’s work. It is a call for sacrifice and we must all do our part. The door is no open as this is all inclusive movement, because truly in this, though tribe and tongue may differ, but in brotherhood and sisterhood we stand, bound together by common suffering and the deepest aspirations to live a better and more fulfilled life just like other people in the land of the living. Gov Obi the people’s candidate believes that this is not asking for too much.

Let me also say that my self and great many others are not interested in partisan politics as played in Nigeria. But they interested in the individual who will become the catalyst for change.

We cannot do what we’ve always done and expect a different result. We must do things differently this time around.

Regardless of the party or platform that will facilitate the very over throw of Not just PDP or APC, But the individual that will start the movement to overthrow the current status quo. The one that will engage in some kind of creative destruction of this dysfunctionalentity so that a new one will energe. The new one where all must count and shall be counted. A new era where hope and optimism will replace the gaping emptiness and despair that have overwhelmed so many in this land. That new era is possible in 2023.

Be it known this day, that this is not about power, or even zoning, this is about transformation of this country in a holistic manner. It is the rejuvenation of that cando attitude and inspiration of that human spirit that drives all to take charge of their destiny through the grace of God.
We need to be inspired Again!
The time is now!!
Stay tuned….

Scores of people are feared dead in a stampede just before the commencement of a programme organised by a new generation church in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Though the church known as ‘Kings Assembly’ is located in the GRA area of the metropolis, the programme was held at the Polo Club in the Rivers State capital to accommodate the usually large congregation.

“This is not the first time the church is holding this programme, but the crowd since yesterday (Friday) till this morning is too much.

“It was said that gift items and free food would be served. It is very painful,” the source who pleaded anonymity stated.
It was learnt that the small gate leading into the venue was pushed open on Saturday morning to enable the congregants occupy good positions leading to a stampede.

Peter Obi And His Movement To The People’s Party

-Onwusanya FCC Jones

Few weeks ago, I was one of those invited by the Nigerian Labour Congress, to what might have been the first or at least most promising Nigerian Workers’ Political Conference.

The conference was well attended as both the political and the working class were well represented. The former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega was the keynote speaker. Femi Falana, Pat Utomi, Adams Oshiomhole and a retinue of activists, politicians, labour leaders and Nigerian workers were there.

The conference aimed to revive the consciousness of Nigerian Workers to their political obligations. One of the speakers reminded those in attendance that the Labour Party, which is the official political wing of all Nigerian workers has the number, the structure and even the resources to cause a big political upset in the coming election if the NLC and the leadership of the Labour Party can harness the potentials, latent within it.

Adams Oshiomhole took the words off my mouth when he recommended that the phrase “Workers” on a sticker launched at the event be changed to “The People”. I had raised my hand to suggest that instead of Labour Party, it should be “The People’s Party”. But, when Oshiomhole spoke, I felt he had captured my thoughts and there wasn’t any need speaking again.

The Labour Party is the only Party, given its foundation and orientation, that is truly the Party of the people. It is the Party that has all classes of Nigerians. Because, among all classes of Nigerians, there are workers. Whether you are engaged in your private business or doing menial jobs to survive, you are certainly a worker and therefore, your natural political Party should be the “People’s Party”, the Labour Party.

If we want to go by the popular assumption of the Nigerian Workers being just those who work in the public sector, then, the Labour Party also has structure across every ward and community in the country, and the Party has the number to win any election in this country. For instance, if we have 10 Million civil servants in the country, then, this number can easily get the votes to make one a President. But, this number cannot vote alone, they have dependents and people they can influence to vote anyway they want, so, on a conservative note, 10,000,000 Nigerian workers can easily guarantee a Presidential aspirant, at least, 30,000,000 votes.

So, on this simple analysis, you could say that Peter Obi’s choice of LP as the vehicle to make him the President of Nigeria in 2023 is the right vehicle.

But, it is not as simple as that.

We must recognize that these Nigerian workers haven’t all been without political Parties before now, and that there is no way the NLC can compel every Nigerian worker to belong to or canvass votes for or to even vote for the LP. Even among the NLC’s top hierarchy, we have individuals who are either in PDP, APC or other political Parties. And at least 80% of Nigerian Workers either do not know or believe that they should have allegiance to the Labour Party.

Therefore, the chances of Peter Obi clinching the presidency through the LP still boils down to the existing structures of LP across the federation, the political operatives involved in his campaign and the ability of his campaign to effectively mobilize Nigerians across all sections and backgrounds to buy into the project of “Moving Nigeria from a Consumption Economy to a Production Economy.”

Well, this is a very tall order.

Obi Goes To London – Dr. Sunny Oby Maduka

Independent Newspaper.

When my telephone became over-busy on 23rd May 2022, I wasn’t that shocked. In fact, my inbox became a stream of endless text messages. Both the calls and texts were reminding me of my serialised article that debuted on 22nd January 2022: The title of the article was: NIGERIA: BRITISH INCORPORATED.

In that four-series episode, I did explain that no Nigerian president will emerge without the unseen signatures of the promoters of Nigeria as a business venture. It started with Asiwaju Tinubu.

Recently, the British government has suddenly developed a cold feet, especially with the vaunting of Asiwaju Tinubu that he will continue from where PMB stopped.

Just to refresh our minds as I stated in the third episode of, NIGERIA: BRITISH INCORPORATED, published on 5th February 2022 in Daily Independent Newspaper: An excerpt:

“Are we having a Nigerian president or a UK envoy?

“The truth is that Tinubu has gone to UK to submit his answer sheet to the questionnaire format to Her Majesty and Boris Johnson government officials to verify if PMB’s signature specimen was properly assented. He will then have a one-on-one interview by the Nigeria Board of Directors composed of all British Oil companies’ Management officials. Once his candidacy has been approved by UK government, we should forget about our voting rights and privileges.” (This is just an iceberg of the article. Please try and read the entire series for more information about Nigeria and UK government business partnership).

Why are Britain developing cold feet in Asiwaju? The answer is that the government of UK won’t trust anyone with a continuity agenda of PMB. Britain was dumbfounded when the policy objectives of PMB were more of Chinese inducements. Most contracts and loans syndications were influenced by Chinese Greek gifts policies. Britain lost out in total control of Nigeria policy formulations and implementations under PMB, but gained more from unaccounted crude oil exploitations.

It’s very erroneous for anyone to assume that PMB is a daft. PMB is a Maradonist in the dictatorial apolitical cheese game of the present Nigeria.

How do you think that someone whose WAEC certificate is in dispute, and yet, professors and technocrats are bowing down to his manipulative manuscript on Nigeria governance policies? Fulanis are rampaging the entire country; Fulanis are manning almost all lucrative sectors; Fulanis are in charge of all our security architecture; Fulanis from other parts of the world are now converging in Nigeria with threats of forcefully taking over the ancestral lands of indigenous Nigerians. Fulanis are propagating Islamic laws and tribal fanaticism as never experienced in Nigeria before. Fulanis are now in charge of our movements as virtually all over the country, insecurity reigns.

Never in the history of Nigeria have we experienced nepotistic and impunity exploitations, and yet, we are babbling that PMB doesn’t know how to write or speak queens English.
PMB is a genius, and that’s why his words both in APC and NIGERIA are sacrosanct and must be obeyed without any questions. He is a Field Marshal in a democratic garb.

Before I digress, the promoters of Nigeria company are sourcing for a new Chief Executive Officer who will build a new Nigeria.
A new Nigerian that will end distortions in tribal and religious activities in Nigeria.

A new Nigerian that will unite all Nigerians.
Most importantly, a new Nigerian that will end insecurity in all ramifications.
The UK government understands that if the country breaks, she’s going to lose her multi-billion dollars investments, especially in oil and gas industries.

The UK government understands that if Nigeria is divided, the Southern Nigeria from where they have been exploiting Nigeria will look into all the agreements entered into for the oil and gas explorations and exports.
The South will probably invoke a more reliable system of checking all resources that are leaving their shores.

The most disturbing information about the Southern Nigeria for UK’s government will be the hoisting of experts in virtually all her resources management decisions. This won’t give any room for exports of fictitious declarations of our natural resources because experts will man certain areas. The era of nepotism and incompetence will be minimized. The UK government is in dilemma right now.

The officials of UK government must seek out a suitable replacement for PMB, and who must be considered as a saviour for British Incorporated company – Nigeria. The UK government understands that it won’t be easy to identify a Nigerian without a black spot, and so, when the pandora saga exploded, and with Peter Obi’s name mentioned, UK government officials have gotten an apostle. He is a CORE ADVOCATE of ONE NIGERIA.
The UK’s government is now considering two options. To hoist a trickish person with so many influences, wealth and power.

A man that they are not sure of his true agenda having been part of NADECO group that wanted Nigeria restructured. He’s a man that nobody can intimidate and has a mind of his own. Asiwaju can’t be pocketed by any Nigerian or foreign influencers. That’s the latest UK government headache.

The second option is to promote a younger person with nascent skills to steal inadvertently. Many youths are routing for him, and with the outcome of one million match, he seems to be trusted. Let’s invite him and the UK government did.
The invitation should have two faces, one, to show him more documents of certain irregularities in his Governorship stewardship and Pandora new findings.

Two, let’s hear directly from him on certain British government interests and how he tends to protect them if he becomes the new Chief Executive Officer of British Incorporated company – Nigeria.

For most Nigerians who are jubilating about H.E. Peter Obi’s invitation to No. 10 Downing Street, London by British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, please don’t jubilate yet.

He has gone to the owners of Nigeria for an intensive interview. In such an interview, which will never be leaked, Britain is going to ask questions about their economic interests if they assent to Obi’s presidency quest just as I mentioned earlier. Of course, the whole interview will be videotaped and salient points noted.
Don’t get me wrong, Peter Obi is a lesser evil when compared with his counterparts. That’s not our topic today.

Peter Obi must make commitments to the British government and of course, the Caliphate inquests will be part of the promises that Obi must abide with. The most important issue will be the restructuring of Nigeria. Both the UK government and the Caliphate will try to exert a concrete plan of how H.E. Peter Obi intends to go about it. The UK government and Caliphate suspicions are based on IPOB, ODUDUWA, NIGER DELTA, MIDDLE BELTERS clamour for independence.
Like I said earlier, this is the core of H.E. Peter Obi’s interview.
There are many voices routing for an Igbo president in 2023, and the UK government and the Caliphate are aware of the future consequences if Igbos are rejected from leading Nigeria come 2023.
Many people have been disturbing themselves, asking PMB to declare his preferred candidate, the truth is that it won’t happen now.

The UK government’s invitation to H.E. Peter Obi was the first stage of the global analysis. The think-tank in UK government are going to further scrutinise Obi’s agenda, and then after, send their decision to Her Majesty, the Queen.
The Queen will call for an emergency meeting where some European countries and USA will be involved. A new cabinet meeting will be set up, and whose decision will either make or mar H.E. Peter Obi’s chances. That will leave Asuwaju as the only preferred option.

H.E. Peter Obi will disappoint the UK government because he’s a man of principle, and who’s genuinely trying to rescue Nigeria from total collapse. H.E Peter Obi will rather quit politics than being used as a blackmailing partner. He’s not desperate unlike Asiwaju, and won’t betray his conscience. Recently, H.E. Peter Obi has watched with dismay how PDP delegates has become an arena of shameless and desperate individuals, using money as a vault to buy votes. Party politics has become a hijack of money bags, and unfortunately, EFCC has remained unprecedented mute as to investigating these money bags in APC and PDP. Apart from money bags, we are going back to the era of thuggery and election violence. We have seen many aspirants bemoaning their parties involvement in disenfranchising their eligibility through ballot snatching and outright switching of authentic delegates lists. I did predict that H.E. Peter Obi won’t be part of these terrorists groups in most political parties, and so, when I heard of his resignation, I wasn’t surprised.

Nigeria has lost a golden opportunity to elect a true patriot at this period of collapsing entity. On the other hands, UK government’s headache is doubled. This is Obi, a true man of integrity refusing to play to their dictates, and Asiwaju, who is as slippery as the air. In whichever situation, UK government and Nigeria are in dilemma come 2023. It’s a case of either voting for continuity, insatiable greed and uncertainties or voting for a new pilot with firm believe in Nigeria as a nation, innovations and a full stop to corruption.

It’s Nigerians choice!!!

Nigeria politics is beyond Nigeria boundaries, and this is because of the enormous amount of both natural and human resources endowed within.
Wonder why PDP and APC shifted their presidential candidates screening? Don’t worry, in the next few days, if Obi and Asiwaju candidacies are not comfortable with UK, Northern Oligarchy/Caliphate, European and US governments, a new set of candidates will be invited by the promoters of Nigeria’s existence, and the simple reason is that they won’t like to miscalculate as they did in PMB’S ascendancy to be the Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria.

Nigeria’s existence is at the top priority on the global burner, and a lot of options are being analysed by UK government, Europe and USA. They are considering the pros and cons of the INDIVISIBLITY of the present pathetic state of Nigeria, and peradventure they didn’t see any credible candidate that will bring all NIGERIANS together as one indivisible people, a radical decision will be taken.

As at today, Nigeria is hanging dangerously on a cliffhanger, and if no tangible solutions are found on the best candidate to lead Nigeria with effect from May, 29, 2023, Nigeria government may be forced to conduct a REFERENDUM and let those who want to leave be allowed to exit the union. A high-level deliberations are ongoing, and unfortunately, Nigeria is almost at the point of no return with unabated criminalities, killings, kidnappings, bandits and terrorists invasions. These heinous atrocities seem to be overwhelming and out of government control. The UN maybe be considering certain drastic changes in Nigeria right now before the entire nation is engulfed with unimaginable consequences on or before 2023.

The saga has just begun….even as I come in peace.

2023: PDP Aspirant, Hayatu-Deen, Withdraws From Presidential Race, Gives Reasons

A presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen on Friday withdrew from the presidential race a few hours before the party’s primaries.

In a letter addressed to the national chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu.
In his letter titled “Why I am stepping down as a presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party”, the economist noted that his decision to pull out of the race was due to the obscene monetisation of the contest.

“I wish to reiterate that I did not join party politics and to contest for the presidency because of personal gains and inordinate ambition, but in order to serve our country.

“It is therefore based on personal principles and with great humility that I have decided after wide consultations to withdraw from this contest which has been obscenely monetized”, Hayatu-Deen noted in the letter.

The PUNCH reports that the banker becomes the second aspirant to withdraw from the PDP presidential race following the withdrawal and resignation of a former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi from the party.

Obi in his own letter had explained that “recent developments” within the PDP were responsible for his from the opposition party and withdrawal from its presidential primaries slated for May 28 and May 29, 2022.

So far, aspirants who have not stepped down include PDP presidential aspirants include former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku; two former Senate Presidents, Bukola Saraki and Anyim Pius Anyim; Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto); Nyesom Wike (Rivers); Bala Mohammed (Bauchi); Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom); former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose; Sam Ohunabunwa, and Dele Momodu.

The party had thrown its presidential ticket open of late attracting rebuke from socio-cultural organisations like the Ohanaeze Ndigbo which maintained that political parties like the PDP and the All Progressives Congress should zone its ticket to the South-East geopolitical zone.

Gov. Hope Uzodinma Reacts To The Supreme Court Judgement Over State Party Excos

I have been acquainted with the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the appeal to an FCT High Court judgement which affirmed Mr. Daniel Nwafor as the Imo State Chairman of our party against Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo.

This ruling which is consequent upon the expired tenure of the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee, has been overtaken by events as a result of the recently-held 2022 National Convention of our great party.

The current Hon. MacDonald Ebere-led State Executive, who were not party to the case, remains the authentic leadership of the party in the State as affirmed at the 2022 National Convention of our great party, which is the highest decision making organ of the party.

The ongoing Primary Election for our aspirants, as being conducted by the National Working Committee, subsists and the outcome remains valid before the law.

I therefore, call on our teeming members and supporters to remain calm as we are committed towards working together in service to the good people of Imo State.

Ayu,SamDaddy, Other NWC Officers Forced Obi’s Exit

ThankGod Emeh

The blames for the unpalatable developments rocking the frontline opposition party in the country, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has been heaped chiefly on the National Chairman, Senator Iyorcha Ayu and the National secretary, Samuel Anyanwu among other top ranking officials of the National Working Committee of the party.

According to a clergy man, Pastor Prince-Samuel Ukwu, and a political analyst, Mark Onyemaobi who reacted swiftly and differently on the resignation and withdrawal of Former Anambra state Governor, Peter Obi from the party and from the party presidential primaries fingered all the recurring problems to have emerged from the last National convention of the party.

“All the crisis rocking the PDP today started from the last National convention. How can they make characters like Senators Iyorcha Ayu and Samuel Anyanwu, National chairman and secretary respectively?

They lamented that “the current National working committee of the party is not just clueless but very corrupt and myopic” not to have embraced and equipped their very best products for the main race with other political parties than forcing notable frontline aspirants to leave the party when they are needed most.

They faulted the way and manner in which the primaries of the party are being conducted, adding that the NWC are just playing to the gallery, whims and caprices of some sacred cows.

“They were myopic to have pushed ‘movements’ like Kwankwaso and Peter Obi out of the party”

“The way these primaries are being conducted tells it all. Delegate lists being hijacked and manipulated by a single man who was planted by one South South governor for his over bloated ego and selfish interest”

“Virtually every ticket being “sold” out to the highest bidder leaving no room for competence, loyalty, equity, fairness and capacity.Seems they have now turned the wadata house to a ‘bureau de change’ where dollars are being exchanged”

Pastor Prince added that as it stands now the PDP cannot win the 2023 presidential election no matter who they field, while noting that “This is the glaring truth with Kwankwaso’s cult-like follower-ship in Kano state and the North West, the PDP already lost there by allowing him leave”

“Now they have also pushed Peter Obi out despite his wide spread and ever growing acceptance across Nigeria generally and the South East in particular. From which part of the country will the PDP get block votes to win the presidential election?”

The analyst, Onyemaobi further argued that the South West does not give block votes to any party in presidential elections but always make it a near 50:50 to the two dominant parties.

“Lets even say they decide to give block votes this time,Tinubu and Osinbajo are their sons and are fully incharge there. You can’t expect them to ignore these people for the PDP”

“If the PDP field Wike, the South South region alone cannot guarantee them victory. Besides Peter Obi will also penetrate the South South should he contest the election in another party”

“Atiku cannot even boast of winning his entire North East region let alone the entire North. The PDP won’t even win the entire North Central region alone should they field Saraki. Peter Obi on another platform will also get some votes from there. So I ask again; From which region will the PDP secure block votes needed to win a presidential election?”

“I don’t know the party that will win the 2023 presidential election but I know the party that will not win.The PDP will not win.All thanks to the clueless dollar-seeking National leadership of the party”

Businessman Beats Ex-commissioner In Imo North PDP Senatorial Primary

Peter Obi Not Joining Kwankwaso -DG

The Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, Dr. Doyin Okupe, says former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State will not be joining the New Nigeria Peoples Party led by former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Okupe said this during a chat with The PUNCH on Thursday, adding that Obi would not be settling for the position of Vice-President in any party.

He said, “He (Obi) will not be joining the NNPP. You can quote me on this.”

When asked which party the former governor would be joining, Okupe said an announcement would be made on Friday morning.

Obi, who had purchased the N40m Presidential forms of the PDP and had even been screened to contest in the primary slated for Saturday, suddenly dumped the party on Wednesday.

The former governor was said to have met Kwankwaso while sources had also told our correspondent that he would be joining the Labour Party.

However, it was learnt that the NNPP had already settled for Kwankwaso and was only willing to give Obi the Vice-Presidential ticket, an offer the former governor was said to have rejected.

Peter Obi Presidency: I Did It My Way – The People’s Way…

I do believe that the lesson Ndigbo need to learn: specifically Peter Obi is to simply sit down to play the games preset by some other people, which is as good as losing the game before it actually starts.

This is some of the comments and reactions we are getting from people since he got of that galloping horse of PDP to approach this campaign his way – the people’s way.

Sometimes when we think we have a superior knowledge in something or simply acting based on the existing prejudices and profiling of others, we end up repeating what’s already known wirhout breaking any new grounds. Those futile attempts to critique fresh idea and approach simply goes to expose how we’ve been driven more by dominant logic than strategic thinking.

The first rule of strategic thinking as demostrated through Game theory is simply, to change one or two aspects of that game, throw the people into dissonance, get back into the game and possibly corner it. That’s more or less of what Peter Obi did with his sudden exit from PDP where the statusquoist are lying in the wait to ambush him and continue on the same trajectory of business as usual that has been of a great disservice to Nigerians.

Peter Obi has done far more home work towards his vying for this election than any other candidate. He did his home work. He has also developed deep sense of empathy that has heleped him to feel the pulse of average Nigerian.

He has moved further to start a conversation and a movement. He has refused to travel the same old dysfunctional road that has led us to no where. He has refused to join the bandwagoon of insane monetization of the votes. He’s instead proceeding to do it his way.

The case of Gov. Obi is more like the housefly cemetery which is the mosquito nets on our windows. Look closely and you will observe insects and flies that got stuck and died on the net. They were all trying to gain entrance through the net wihtout thinking. Each and everyone of them got stuck. But check this out, there comes one that approaches the net, and decides to turn back and proceed no further. Of course the natural reaction will be to view that particular insect as very unusual and even weird. Others driven by dominant logic and conventional thinking will laugh at it, but guess what? That insect will live. That insect is Peter Obi.

That one that will live is Peter Obi. What he has done so far in the course of this quest for the Presidency is use unconventional approach. He has challenged the statusquo and changed the narrative. Right now his fellow contenders are appearing empty and colourless because they have no new messages or story to tell. They are far much worried about poltical correctness and self preservation than transforming this country.

We all know that all these are politically risky and perhaps unpopular among the carpet baggers , but it is what the people want at this very time. It is the right thing to do and the people are reacting and responding accordingly.

The only people kicking against his unorthodox approach to this presidential campaign are those who have been willing accomplices in the reckless fleecing of Nigeria and setting Nigeria on auto reverse back to serfdom and total abyss.

So the people of Nigeria are now saying to Peter: move forth with courage and fortitude And grab the Presidency or simply die trying.

But when you finally get there , on your inauguration day, we shall play a special dedication of Frank Sinatra greatest hit: *MY WAY* You did it your way.

If Okwute Peter Obi makes it to Asorock, then he did it his way – the people’s way.

Okey And Cyril Are My Brothers And Their Death Will No Be In-vein – Soludo

The governor of Anambara State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has decried the killing of innocent people in the state by unknown gunmen.

Addressing the people of Anambara over the killing of the member of Anambara house of assembly he made it clear that the killers will not go free.

Below is the full speech.

These are my brothers!

Hon. Okechukwu Okoye (Okey dị okay) and Cyril Chiegboka were murdered in the most gruesome manner. No human being should ever have to experience death in that way. For no just reason, rampaging criminals have elected to desecrate our land with the blood of the innocent.

This is a test of our resolve, and we are more emboldened than cowed that this criminality MUST be stamped out of our land. Ụmụnnem Ndị Anambra, this is not who we are. The party is over, and every community must brace up to join forces with government in this war to reclaim our homeland.

Okey and Cyril will NEVER die in vain. May God console their young families, the people of Isuofia and ndị Anambra. May their souls and all others who have lost their lives in the hands of these criminals continue to rest in peace.

We have placed a ten million Naira (10,000,000) bounty for anyone with useful information. This war is one that Anambra must win!

Peace and Security in Anambra As Our Collective Responsibility Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR Governor, Anambra State

Peace and Security in Anambra As Our Collective Responsibility

Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR
Governor, Anambra State

Umu nnem, Ndi Anambra!

You employed me to lead the process of building a livable and prosperous homeland. After swearing-in on the 17th March, 2022, I worked for 8 hours and 45 minutes that day and have kept working hard every day to make you proud. A lot is ongoing, and we will report to you in due course.

However, we recognized from the first minute that restoring peace and security will be foundational to our larger agenda as a people. We devoted several paragraphs in our inaugural speech to underscore the grave security challenges we inherited (with the deadly criminal gangs largely in occupation of 8 local governments).

You may recall that I was attacked by so called “unknown gunmen” while addressing youths at a rally in March 2021 leaving three policemen dead, and indeed hardly any candidate could campaign freely in the seven local governments of the south senatorial zone in 2021.

I knew the grave situation, and determined to confront it. I met with the state security council for three and half hours on the first day and there was the consensus to deploy both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.

While the security agencies have been doing their best with limited resources, we are convinced that sustainable peace and security cannot be achieved without the cooperation and solidarity of the people. Consequently, we went to work to mobilize our people and address the wider socio-economic and legacy issues fueling agitations and insecurity.

We consulted and collaborated with the South East Joint Body of Bishops and traditional rulers; issuing joint statements, with the Joint body of bishops organizing prayers sessions in the entire South East on 4th April, 2022, with the goal of ending the Sit-at-home and ensuring an enduring peace and security in the South East;

We organized Anambra Peace and Security Dialogue, with the leadership of the Christian denominations, town unions, traditional rulers, youth organizations, women, market, and transport unions, as well as political leaders and non-indigenes on XX with a Communique calling for an end to the Sit- at home—and peace and security in the South East on 2nd April, 2022;

We offered the Olive branch to all the armed youths in the forests to come out, surrender their guns and with the commitment that our government would help to retrain and empower them to contribute positively to our development. Our government has, in our proposed revised budget, provided handsomely for youth empowerment.

The official leadership of IPOB also repeatedly issued statements dissociating itself from the senseless and destructive Sit- at home on Mondays etc as well as the kidnappings and criminal actions of gangs in the state and the south east;

We set up the Truth, Justice and Peace Committee, with the goal of getting to the remote and immediate causes of the agitation and criminality, with a view to proffering systematic and lasting solutions;

We have severally again met with town union leaders and traditional rulers; landlords etc, all in the mobilization of the people for lasting peace and security;

True to our commitment to engage with ALL state and non-state actors relevant to the search for lasting peace and security, we visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and he reiterated that he never authorized the senseless Sit at Home, and absolved his organization, IPOB, from the crass criminality especially the barbaric enforcement of the Sit at home and the kidnappings and spilling of blood. Mazi Kanu expressed his willingness to personally address the press to charge his followers to keep the peace. Subsequently, his lawyer issued an official statement confirming this position and his associate also addressed the media in the same vein;

We have also had Town Hall meetings with Ndi Anambra in Lagos and Abuja, and our people are united in their condemnation of the criminality going on in the state and environs, and demonstrated their commitment to join hands with us in solving it.

The list of the public engagements is long (with even a longer list of backroom plans and actions).

Despite the above, the criminal gangs are unrelenting in their desperation to maintain their very lucrative criminal enterprise and expand their other agenda of domination.

When the security agencies rooted them out of two of their numerous camps, their reprisals were to burn down the secretariats of two local governments and attack police stations, police and soldiers. Routinely they kidnap for ransom, rape, and murder their victims as well as burn houses and properties. They relish in shooting soft targets, including recently a poor woman frying akara in front of her house on a Monday. Over the past one week, Ndi Anambra and indeed the nation have been treated to the gory stories of the kidnapping and subsequent beheading of Hon Okechukwu Okoye (member of the State House of Assembly) and his aide, Cyril Chiegboka (both from my community, Isuofia) as well as the brutal murder Mrs Harirat Jubril from Adamawa state and her four children and three other northerners. Anambra people have been in shock. This is not who we are. Our deepest condolences are with the families of the various victims. We are working round the clock with the security agencies and the perpetrators must be brought to book.

Let us be very clear. These criminals causing mayhem in Anambra, albeit of disparate groups and gangs, are Igbos (dominantly from other South East states) whose real objective is lucrative criminality and foisting their idolatrous religion on the region.

Unfortunately, every criminal gang (including cult groups) claims to be a “liberation movement”, making it difficult to differentiate between any genuine agitators from criminals. Unfortunately also, the criminals now dominate the space. Anambra is the prime target because that is the most lucrative location for kidnapping for ransom in the South East. With their immense propaganda machine funded largely by their sponsors abroad, they have tried everything to indoctrinate the people with all kinds of false emotive narratives, and divert attention from their real objectives. They claim to be “fighting for the people”, and yet randomly kill the same people, destroying their livelihood, and stopping their children from going to school.

What has agitation to do with kidnappings including kidnapping of priests of God, invasion of churches and tabernacles including desecration of the Alters of God? Why is it that everywhere they gather and in every camp they operate, there is a Deity/idol to which they routinely offer blood in sacrifice? From accounts of those kidnapped and later freed the stench of dead bodies in the camps cry up to heaven.

We see videos of them and their idol worship; we note their threats to priests and bishops, including threatening to take over some churches?

The truth is that this tiny minority (certainly far less than 0.1% of us), is bent upon challenging the foundation of the things that make us who we are:
Enterprise: We are known for our enterprise but these people are bent on killing our businesses by the forceful Sit at home; kidnapping for ransom; forceful taxation of communities, businesses, and individuals; etc;

Christianity: The people of the South East, especially Anambra, are predominantly Christians. But with this gang, idolatry is back with vengeance. They forcefully try to convert people, especially the young ones to idolatry by initiating them into cults, swearing oaths to their Deities, etc with the promise of invincibility. Consequently, these youths join them as members and informants.

Desecration of our culture: Spilling of the blood of the innocent is considered an abomination by our culture and by our Christian religion. We understand that they kill and harvest human organs for rituals and human sacrifice in their so called camps.
With their new religion of idolatry and deadly weapons which they use to kill at random, they have tried to create a culture of fear and silence. More recently, the people have begun to question their propaganda, motive and means and they know that they have lost the sympathy of the people. That explains why they desperately tried to ignite a national inter-ethnic crisis by killing some innocent northerners who have lived peacefully in our state for decades to divert attention from their criminality and then seek to re-brand themselves as “defenders of the people”. They have failed, and will continue to fail. Millions of our people live in the North and other parts of Nigeria, and Anambra people are known for their uncommon hospitality. In most homes in Anambra, non-indigenes live happily as tenants or as landlords, pursuing their legitimate businesses and this won’t change. We pride ourselves as the Light of the Nation, and Anambra will continue to be a land of opportunity for every Nigerian as well as non-Nigerians. We will continue to work hard with security agencies to ensure security of life and property in our state.
Umu nnem, Ndi Anambra!
The hour has come for us to step up our game, and take back our state. The tiny but vicious gangs that have invaded our state and terrorize us are mostly in eight local governments in Anambra and three neighboring local governments in Imo State. They are in our forests, communities, and houses owned by individuals. They don’t come from the air, and hence are not “unknown” gunmen. They are known. You know them, but are either too scared to speak up or out of indifference. But for how long will you be silent while our people continue to be killed in the most cruel and barbaric manner? It is because we have remained ambivalent, opting to sit on the fence rather than take a stand against an obvious evil, that has made a minor sore to fester so cancerously. The hour has now come, and we must rise up to take our destiny in our hands. Everyone, indeed, everyone has a role to play. While we continue to commit Anambra unto the hands of God, we as a people must rise up to clean and cleanse our land. The security agencies will continue to do their part, but we the people, must proclaim that Enough is Enough and demonstrate full ownership. Consequently, as complementary measures to the efforts of the security agencies, our government has decided on the following immediate steps:

Once again, we are releasing several telephone numbers for the public to report any criminality or suspicious conducts. These phone numbers are managed in my office (in strictest confidentiality). Call us, or text (SMS or WhatsApp), and we will respond expeditiously. The phone numbers are:
09017280990
07039896429
09167514891
09076237441
09168041120
08093175528
08124153139

In addition to the N10 million cash reward we placed on those who gruesomely murdered Hon Okechukwu Okoye and his aide, we are also offering a cash reward of AT LEAST One Million (N1,000,000) to anyone who provides useful information leading to the arrest of any of the leaders or members of these criminal gangs including those who support them financially or in kind, and all those enforcing the illegal Sit-at-Home order, or anyone involved in the kidnapping, murder, and arson, or access to the camps where the criminals operate from. The bounty will depend upon the profile of the criminal: their leaders will attract higher amounts. Similar bounty will be paid to anyone who gives information about anyone or location where hard drugs (especially “Mkpulu mmili”) are manufactured in the state. The State Government hereby assures any informant of confidentiality in this process and would not disclose your identities or contact.

With effect from tomorrow, Friday, 26th May, 2022, a 6pm to 6am curfew is hereby placed on motorcycles (okada), tricycles (keke), and shuttle buses in Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ogbaru, Orumba North and Orumba South Local Governments until further notice. Until further notice also, motorcycles, keke and shuttle buses are banned from operating in these local governments on Mondays until the Sit-at-Home completely stops. The youths of every community in the zone are hereby enjoined to assist the security agencies in the implementation of this policy and are mandated to seize any such motorcycle or tricycle on the spot. Local Vigilantes should report such motorcycles or tricycles (keke) immediately, and they will be confiscated by government and the owner prosecuted. The Okada, Keke, and shuttle bus union leaders must take responsibility to report their members who are involved in criminal activities. We shall review this after two weeks, and if members of these unions continue to be involved in criminal activities, the government will have no choice but to either disband the Unions and/or ban them out rightly in the state.

No part of Anambra State (house, bush or forest) shall be used as camps for these criminals. Anyone with a gun in a camp is considered a criminal in Anambra State, and the government and people will work with security agencies to flush them out. The State Government shall pursuant to its powers under the Land Use Act revoke and acquire any land found to be harboring these criminals, for public purpose. Henceforth, every community is required to provide information on any part of their land occupied by these criminals as camps. If the community fails to do so, the government will take over such land.

All communities are hereby charged to take over their communities completely and through the leadership of their Town Unions and Traditional Rulers give weekly security reports (submitted every Friday) to the State Government on the state of security in their communities. The cooperation of the youths in that regard is now imperative. I charge the vigilantes of each community to rise to the occasion and contend with these criminals in your locality whether they are in your bush or the houses in your community. The State Government expects the report of any progress made in this regard and shall support and reward you accordingly.

Any buildings found to be harboring these kidnappers and murderers who have laid siege on our State will, as provided by Criminal Code (Amendment No.3) Law 2013, be forfeited to the State Government. To that extent, all landlords are hereby directed to proceed on “Operation Know Your Tenant” by keeping appropriate records of their tenants and report anyone suspected of being involved in criminal activities. Each community leadership must keep full register of all tenants in their communities, their occupation, etc and keep an eye on their activities. The State Government shall as an emergency measure, disband the leadership of any community which fails to report criminal activities in their communities or immediately respond to the requests contained in this address.

All market leaders and stakeholders are hereby charged to join the communities in taking back their territory and monitor the activities in their markets. They are all required to return weekly security reports to the State Government.

Everybody who either in person or through telephone calls demands cash support or ransom from anyone in furtherance of any criminal activities or groups should immediately be reported to the government via the telephone lines provided.

All transporters, i.e, bus drivers, shuttle drivers, tricycle (keke) and motorcycle (okada) riders must immediately report any suspicious passengers. Because it has come to the knowledge of the State Government that over 80% of transport operators use fake plate numbers and identities, all transport operators must henceforth re-register their vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles with their valid means of identification and their biometrics captured. This exercise shall immediately be commenced and anyone who defaults in doing that after four weeks from today would be treated as a suspect and adequate measures taken against him or her.

All hotels are directed to obtain the means of identification of their guests and keep an inventory of all guests in their hotels. The management of the hotels should immediately report any suspicious persons or group of persons checking into or converging in their hotels. Immediate sanctions would attend any dereliction in that regard, including possibly shutting down or demolition of such hotels.

All fuel stations are hereby directed to, within 4 weeks from today, place surveillance cameras in their stations and keep the records generated by those cameras in order to assist the State Government, when required, in tracking these criminals who inevitably fuel their vehicles at fuel stations.

Finally, let me urge our people to remain calm. This season shall pass. The God of Anambra assures that we shall overcome the forces of darkness. Indeed, this tough beginning foretells of a more glorious future. We thank all the stakeholders in the Anambra project, and particularly thank the security agencies for their determination and sacrifice. We enjoin our religious leaders to continue to lift up the state in prayers and to also mobilize our people as they fight evil in our land. Together, we shall take back our state and make it the true Light of the Nation.

God bless you all,
God bless Anambra State,
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Man Kills Lover After Ten Years Of Dating That Produced A Baby Girl

Man Allegedly Kills Ex-fiancée For Leaving Him For Another Lover After ten Years of Courtship,

The family of 31-year-old Maria Onyeche Ali, who was reportedly killed on Monday by her ex-fiancé, one Benedict Ugwuoke, for leaving him for another man after ten years of relationship, has demanded justice.

The incident happened at Karu, Abuja where Ben is living.

SaharaReporters gathered that Ben, as he is fondly called, had dated Maria for ten years without officially marrying her despite having a child together, a seven-year-old girl.

It was gathered that trouble started when Maria decided to quit the relationship after she found another lover, who wanted to marry her and had fixed December to commence marital rites.

According to the family members, Ben allegedly threatened to kill his ex-lover’s new man or both of them if she didn’t leave him.

To make his threat real, on Sunday, May 23, 2022, Ben allegedly stormed her apartment at House 10 Fatima Gold Estate, Maraba, Abuja around 5 pm when her new lover visited and demanded that she should discharge him.

“She refused and did not allow him inside. They were reportedly talking outside the house before he lured her into his car for further discussion. As soon as they got inside the car, Ben locked the doors and allegedly threatened her with a gun, saying he would kill her if she refused to discharge the new lover.

“After inflicting mental trauma, he left her. The next day, Monday 24, he returned to complete what he started,” Maria’s elder sister, Cecilia told SaharaReporters.

She said that Benedict later called her to come to the Nigeria Customs Service hospital in Karu around 8:30 pm on Monday, to see the dead body of her sister.

She alleged that despite not living together, Ben still come to her apartment to assault her on several occasions to the extent that a week after she gave birth, he raped her.

Chronologically Cecilia narrated to SaharaReporters the unfortunate incident, thus: “Maria is my younger sister and she has been in a relationship with one Benedict Ugwuoke for the past ten years and they had a child together. The child is seven years old now and she is with my mother. My sister is 31 years old. They are not living together as my sister rented an apartment at Fatima Gold Estate Maraba, where she was living before this unfortunate incident.

“So many times, my sister would call me or she would come to our house with bruises, sometimes with a swollen face. When you asked her, she would say it was Ben that did it to her. Unfortunately, every time we wanted to take him up, my sister would say that we should leave him. It continued for a long time and when she gave birth, he raped her a week after. Recently my sister told him that she was quitting the relationship since he was not ready to marry her.

“Since the notification, he started threatening her to such an extent that he came to the apartment to ask her to discharge someone who wanted to marry her and had been introduced to family members.”

Continuing, Cecilia said, “On Monday, around 8 pm, Ben called asking me to meet him at Nigeria Customs Service hospital in Karu immediately. I was trying to ask what was the matter but he insisted I should come immediately. So, everyone in the house said let’s go there because since afternoon we had been calling my sister but she had not been answering.

“Family members including her friends and fiancée had called several times and some had to come to our house to check what was going on. Everyone at this point was nervous.”

She noted that her fiancée, Popoola Abiola Victor, had called her to find out if Maria was in her house.

“We were praying when Ben’s call came. I rushed to the hospital with her fiancée, Victor, only to see my sister lying down in the hospital bed. Immediately, I called my elder brother who immediately came.

“When I asked Ben what happened to her, he said he didn’t know. When we enquired from the doctor on duty, he told us that someone (Ben) brought her to the hospital in the afternoon.

“He (doctor) also said that the person dropped a wrong phone number with the hospital and left and that when the hospital wanted to refer her to a bigger hospital, they could not see the person; and also could not reach anyone on the number the person had provided. The phone number he dropped was the wrong one. At this point, my brother invited the police who took him to the Karu Police Station to give a statement on what happened to her,” she narrated

Continuing, Cecilia said that Ben had seized her sister’s phones so that nobody could access her until she died.

She said, “He collected all her phones and nobody was able to reach her. When my son came, he now gave him Maria’s phone and wristwatch.

“He didn’t agree that he hit my sister when we were at the hospital but when we got to the police station, he told the police that when she came to his house and they were talking, he was angry and hit her and she started vomiting.”

She added, “Ben further told the police that my sister came to his house around 1pm and that she was only complaining of a headache and he mixed a malt drink with milk and gave her. He also said he gave her paracetamol and thereafter she was stable for a while before suddenly, she started vomiting and he now rushed her to the hospital.

“He also told the police in his statement that she died of High Blood Pressure (BP).”

Cecilia further stated that when he was asked why he didn’t call any of her family members, he said he did not think of it.

“On why he took her phone and didn’t want anyone to reach her, he said that the phone was on a seat where she was sitting in his house before he rushed her to the hospital and that he left it in the house,” she said.

When Cecilia was asked what the police had done so far, she said, “Karu police station has transferred the case file to FCT SCID for further investigation. They visited Ben’s house on Tuesday, the room had been cleaned so the police were able to see traces of any vomit.”

She maintained that her sister needs justice, adding, “He is the one who killed my sister because when we went to his house with the police, someone had cleaned the house. They had mopped the house before we got there but we have gotten the rag used in cleaning her vomit and other evidence.”

Victor, Maria’s lover, also shared Cecilia’s account of the event, adding that Ben had threatened to kill him if he didn’t leave her.

He said Ben always said she was his wife.

Meanwhile, efforts to get a reaction from the FCT Police Command were unsuccessful as the spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, did not answer her calls or reply to text messages sent to her.

EXCLUSIVE: Stella Oduah Didn’t Complete NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps says the lawmaker representing Anambra-North senatorial district, Stella Oduah, did not complete the mandatory one-year NYSC programme.

The NYSC said this in a letter marked NYSC/DHQ/PPRU/783/Vol III.
In a letter by the Director-General of the NYSC which was signed on his behalf by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the agency said Oduah commenced her NYSC programme in 1982 but absconded.
The letter was in response to an inquiry by a group known as the Concerned Anambra North PDP Stakeholders.

In the previous letter, the group had written a letter to the NYSC accusing some officials of the agency of colluding with Oduah to hide the truth.
In its response, titled, ‘Re: Doubtful NYSC Participation Collusion of Some Unscrupulous Staff of NYSC Concerning Stella Adaeze Oduah (Senator), Save the Image and Reputation of the Scheme’, the NYSC denied colluding with Oduah to hide the truth.

The letter read in part, “In response to your request, we wish to state that the facts of the matter remain as follows: Stella Adaeze Oduah was mobilised for national service in 1982/1983 service year and deployed to Lagos State.

“After the orientation course, she absconded and never completed the national service. The consequence of this is that she is not qualified for the issuance of the certificate of national service.”

Section 2 (1) of the NYSC Act makes it obligatory for every Nigerian who graduates to “ make himself available for service for a continuous period of one year from the date specified in the call-up instrument served upon him.”

According to the NYSC Act, the four categories of individuals exempted from the national service are those who graduated above the age of 30, those who have served in the Armed Forces or the Nigeria Police for a period of more than nine months; those who served in intelligence organisations and individuals who bagged national honours before graduation.

It remains unclear how Oduah’s failure to complete her NYSC escaped the scrutiny of agencies like the Department of State Services which usually vet ministerial nominees.
In her form CF001 forms submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission in 2019, Oduah claimed that she completed her NYSC but her certificate was missing along with other credentials.

An affidavit she deposed to read in part, “Sometime in 2010 while in transit from Akili Ozizor in Ogbaru local government area to Abuja, I discovered that some of my personal belongings were missing.

“The missing documents are the originals of my West African School Certificate of 1978 from Zixon Secondary School Ozubulu, First School Leaving Certificate from St. John Odoakpu Onitsha; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Certificate 1982 from St. Paul’s College Lawrence Virginia USA; National Youth Service Corps certificate 1983, national identity card, United States of America Social Security card with numbers in it.”

Oduah, who served as Minister of Aviation before she was relieved of her duties by former President Goodluck Jonathan, also came under scrutiny in January 2014 when Sahara Reporters quoted authorities at St. Paul’s College, where Mrs. Oduah claimed she studied for Bachelor and Masters degrees, as saying they did not award her an MBA at any time as the university does not even have a graduate school or graduate programme.

The PUNCH learnt that a petition had been sent to the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, asking the PDP to disqualify Oduah who has been screened to contest in the primary.
The group, Concerned Anambra North PDP Stakeholders, in a letter dated April 26, 2022, attached all necessary evidence to the party. However, there had been no response.

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, did not respond to calls on Wednesday.
In a chat with The PUNCH, Lagos-based lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, noted that a Federal High Court had already ruled that possessing an NYSC certificate was not a condition for holding public office.

Effiong, however, said Oduah’s claim on oath that she possessed an NYSC certificate when she knew this to be false amounted to perjury and disqualification.

“The court has ruled that the NYSC Act cannot be superior to the 1999 constitution which already outlines the prerequisites for holding public office. However, if she claimed on oath that she possesses an NYSC certificate when she had none, then this is perjury and is also grounds for disqualification,” said Effiong.

Attempts to get a response from Oduah proved abortive as her telephone line indicated that it was switched off. Also there was no response to a text message sent to her.

Telcoms Protest N90bn New Phone Tax, To Bill Subscribers

The Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria has described the recent move by the Federal Government to add a one kobo per second tax on phone calls as a bad move.

According to it, this is insensitive considering the operating environment of telecom companies.
The umbrella body for telecom companies said, “For us as at ALTON, it is bad fate on the part of the government, and it is badly intended. This is because when we came out that the government should look at our cost of operations and give us room to review tariffs, everybody treated us like an outcast.

“The same government is now coming in a matter of days to say they are introducing new taxes. So, when they were saying to us that we cannot increase tariff because it is insensitive to the plight of the people and now, they brought another tax through the back door, we think it is bad fate and badly intended.

So, if we cannot review based on the impact it will have on subscribers, why are they bringing in another tax, still on subscribers. Government cannot act in one way and say another thing.”

The Federal Government is proposing a one kobo per seconds tax on phone calls in the nation to fund free healthcare for the Vulnerable Group in Nigeria.
This was disclosed in the National Health Insurance Authority Bill 2021 signed by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), recently.

This translates to a nine per cent tax on GSM calls if implemented.
ALTON added that the new tax would reduce the value subscribers get from telecom services, as they would need to pay more to enjoy what they used to.
The association stated, “It will affect the subscribers because they get less value for what they pay for.

It means now that when you buy an N100 recharge card, the percentage will be deducted from it and paid to the government. So, it is actually short-changing the people.

What will happen is that operators will be mandated to collect this tax on their behalf and remit it to the government.”

It said the government should consider taxing another industry rather than telecoms. According to it, subscribers will have to pay extra for this new cost.

It added, “This can be introduced to another sector of the economy.
“The reason for it is understandable, but we think it can be sourced from another source, not telecoms subscribers, whom government itself has said they are suffering because of high of living lately.

We will not complain as operators because we will definitely remit, it is the subscribers that will bear the brunt.
