Uzodinma: Ughalaa’s Desperation to Sack Oguwuike Nwachuku.

By Magnus Obiwuba

Collins Ughalaa, the former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, is at it again. He has started blackmailing a government he is pretending to support. He has recently been working very hard, and desperately too, even at the detriment of the honour of his former boss, to convince the Imo Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, that his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Oguwuike Nwachuku, does not have what it takes to be retained in that office.

It had been thought that he was carrying out the bidding of former Governor Ikedi Ohakim until Team Ohakim came out to announce that he had been dismissed given his odorous activities in the camp.

Ughalaa who has in the past heard in some quarters openly condemning Uzodinma’s CPS for lack of capacity has been applying both brute and uncouth strategies in the pursuit of his duluded ambition of taking over from Nwachuku.
Nwachuku, incidentally, has not been in friendly relationship with the Commissioner for Information, Chief Decland Emelumba; Ughalaa’s Orlu kinsman.

Ughalaa, an accidental journalist who came into the recognition of few through the magnanimity of Facebook was recommended to the former governor Ikedi Ohakim prior to preparations for the 2019 Governorship Election in Imo State to serve as his image maker. As hungry as he was looking before this offer, Ughalaa did not fail in his greed mentality, as immediately as he assumed that position as Ohakim’s CPS, reports of embezzlement of monies meant for journalists started filtering in. He was said to have become a huge burden to the former governor that those working in that campaign team continued to prevail on the former governor to keep managing him.

Immediately the elections were over and Ohakim lost to the Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Ughalaa quickly started singing praises for Ihedioha and his new administration even when his principal was yet to resolve to align with Ihedioha. He sang and sang until his kinsman, the Deputy Governor to Ihedioha, Engr. Gerald Irona, approved him as the Media Officer to the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC). It was in this Commission that he once again showed his greed by criminally formulating claims running into tens of millions of Naira; part of what he used in buying for himself a new Highlander Toyota car.

It was also alleged that some of the millions he made claims for were at a stage denied him by the ISOPADEC’s management under the Ihedioha administration because he could not provide convincing evidence to what extent the monies were for. This he kept chasing until that government was toppled through the Supreme Court coup against Ndimo in 2020.

Information available shows that Collins Ughalaa is still pursuing this payment, and had approached so many people in the Sen. Hope Uzodinma’s government to help him get the money, including his kinsman, Chief Emelumba who then promised him of help only on the condition that he would take up a media campaign against Chief Emeka Ihedioha and the PDP. He also assured him of recommending him to Sen. Hope Uzodinma as a replacement to the CPS; an offer Ughalaa quickly fell for.

To fully assure him of his sincerity, Emelumba first recruited Ughalaa into the editorial team of the Imo State-owned newspaper called the Statesman where he has been going through rehabilitation.

Collins in desperation is said to have approached his former principal, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, through some friends to Ohakim to help him get appointment as the CPS to Uzodinma. Ohakim on his part, is also said to be unhappy with Ughalaa, and has been avoiding him ever since.
Not very sure of getting his dreams materialize through Ohakim, Ughalaa’s only hope lies in doing the dirty jobs Emelumba asked him to do, which is KEEP ATTACKING IHEDIOHA.

It’s obvious that Gov. Emeka Ihedioha is the main cause of sleeplessness ( _echeta a muru anya_) of the Uzodinma regime. He is so the only reason scheming and counter scheming against one another among the Governor’s many clueless aides, including the very desperate Collins Ughalaa.

Uzodinma Deceived Buhari To Commission Non-Existent Road In Our Area – Owerri League Of Professionals

As people all over the world are reacting to cold reception of Imo people to President Mohammadu Buhari to the state to commission some works executed the government of Hope Uzodinma, many groups have reacted the reality of the said commissioned road projects.

Many insisted that many of the project are not anywhere to sight, while others said it was past administration of Governors Rochas and Ihedioha respectively that either constructed or rehablitated it.

Among them is the Owerri League of professionals in a release signed by the President-General Chief Ohamara Anthony argued that one the road commissioned by President Buhari was deception to Mr. President and embarrassment to the people living in the area and Imo State in general has demanded an apology from Gov. Hope Uzodimma.

The road in question Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze which commissioned is the deplorable condition that motorists finds if very difficult to ply it thereby causing untold hardship to the of the area, but to their surprised days ago some portion of the road was washed and repainted and commission today as a competed project.

Below is the full release by Owerri League of Professionals

UZODINMA DECEIVED PRESIDENT BUHARI TO COMMISSION NON-EXISTENT ROAD IN OUR AREA.

THIS MOCKERY OF BAD ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE IN OUR LAND IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE

– WE DEMAND IMMEDIATE APOLOGY FROM IMO STATE GOVERNMENT

Our attention has been drawn to stories in the media that President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Imo State today has yielded in the commissioning of the Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze Road. It has also been reported that the road in question was built by the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

What is even more outrageous is that we have seen pictures of an old portion of the road which was washed, repainted, decorated and presented to Mr. President. And this was today commissioned.

While we thank the President for finding time to be in Imo to see things for himself, as the apex leadership body in the area with the purported road project, we feel deeply insulted by the entire charade and perfidy put together by Imo State Government. This act of commissioning a non-existent road has come to people as a clear mockery of the pains and agonies associated with the poor road infrastructure in our area.

This has further reinforced our fears that the incumbent administration in Imo is not concerned about our plight, and is heartbreaking. We therefore demand an immediate apology from Senator Uzodinma so as to remedy to situation, while also urging the Governor to be alive to his responsibility of providing infrastructure to Imo people.

Signed:

Chief Ohamara Anthony
President-General.

Child Marriage: Teenager Stabbed Husband To Death After Three Weeks

Three weeks after wedding, this 19-year-old lady stabbed her 35 year old husband to death.

Reason: the woman, Rumasa’u, was forcefully married to her husband, Muhammed Adamu, (against her will) by her parents on August 6.

She, therefore, demanded that her late husband divorce her peacefully since she was not interested in the marriage, but he refused.

She, consequently, got angry and stabbed him in the stomach with a knife.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Obi Donates N100m To Upgrade Shanahan Nursing, Midwifery School To College.

Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra, has donated N100,000,000 (One hundred million naira) to Bishop Shanahan Specialist Hospital Nsukka (BSSHN) to upgrade its School of Nursing and Midwifery to a College.

BSSHN is a missionary hospital owned and managed by Nsukka Catholic Diocese.

Obi made the donation in Nsukka, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2021 when he paid a visit to Shanahan School of Nursing and Midwifery.

He said nurses and midwifes remained the foundation of primary healthcare in any country.

“Nurses and midwifes are very fundamental in our primary healthcare and entire health sector.

“If they are equipped and well trained, infant and maternal mortality will be reduced to the barest minimum.

“Investment on health sector is investment on health of humanity,” he said.

Obi said that his visit was as a result of phone call conversation he had with the Administrator of BSSHN, Rev Fr. Greg Onah, who solicited for help to enable the hospital to upgrade its school of nursing and midwifery to a college.

“The N100m I donated today is to ensure that the school is upgraded to a College of Nursing and Midwifery from now to 2023,” he said.

The Peoples Democratic Party Vice-presidential candidate in 2019 general elections urged Bishop Godfrey Onah of Nsukka Catholic Diocese and other church leaders to continue to pray for the country.

“The church should continue to pray for Nigeria especially now the country is facing serious security challenges,” he said.

In a remark, Onah thanked Obi for his generosity and assured him of judicious use of the amount.

“We will continue to appreciate your kindness to Nsukka Catholic Diocese right from the time you were governor of Anambra State until now.

”Obi is one of Nigeria’s former governors and politicians who have maintained the integrity and passion to help the society.

“This is not the first time he is donating to the diocese; the Coaster bus we are using today in school was also donated by Obi when he was governor of Anambra.

“I urge Obi to continue to develops and invest in humanity,” he said.

Speaking also, Rev. Fr. Mellitus Ossai, Chairman Diocesan Hospitals’ Management Board thanked Obi for the donation which he said would move the school of nursing and midwifery to the next level.

For Advert call: +2348110708268

Ossia assured the former governor that the money donated would be channeled for the purpose it was meant.

“I assure you that the money will be used to upgrade the school of nursing and midwifery to college status.

“Silver and gold we have none to give you back but we will continue to remember you in our prayers,” he said.

Earlier, the Administrator of the hospital thanked Obi for the visit and the donation.

“I called him on phone recently and sought for his assistance to enable the hospital’s School of Nursing and Midwifery to be upgraded to a college.

“It was just a phone call where I told the former governor that we needed about N75m to N100m to upgrade to a college.

“Today he has surprised us with a visit and donation of N100m; my prayer is that God will reward him abundantly,” he said.

Coalition of Arewa Youth Organizations Disassociates a Self From Threat Against Ihedioha

Says: “Arewa Youth Forum” not existing.

By Osaro Igbinovia

Northern Nigeria’s apex youth platform, Coalition of Arewa Youth Organizations, has distanced itself from a publication made by a faceless group known as Arewa Youth Forum which had purported that the former Deputy Speaker of the Federation and former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, wanted the proposed visit of President Buhari to Imo State cancelled.

In a release made by the group’s spokesperson, Comrade Abdulmalik Umar Saleh, the group warned those behind the publication to desist from raising tension in the land, noting that Ihedioha who has risen to the position of the No 6 Citizen in the country and a state Chief Executive, should not be associated with making mockery of democracy.

President Buhari and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha in a pix.

Addressing Journalist in Kano, Comrade Saleh described the publication as treacherous, stressing that the Organizations that make up the coalition are not known for partisan politics. He said their core mandate is the development of the Arewa Nation, based on equity and fairness.

He said it was too petty to associate Arewa Youths with Imo politics, and stressed that those doing that do not mean well for the incumbent Governor of Imo State.

Recall that the a faceless group named Arewa Youth Forum had issued a note of warning to Ihedioha, alleging that He should be held responsible should anything happen to Buhari during his proposed visit to Owerri.

Former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha

When contacted, a stakeholder in Imo State who pleaded for anonymity said that Ihedioha is a peaceful man. “Who didn’t see how he was removed and despite everything he was never provoked to violence”. He carried out his protests peacefully and since then has remained on his own. The problem is that those at the helm of affairs in Imo are unpopular. So they are looking for who to blame,” he disclosed.

IMO: Why Uzodimma Remains Unacceptable And Rejected In Imo

By Ogu Bundu Nwadike, M.A

From the verifiable reactions of the people of Imo State to the purported visit by President Muhammad Buhari to the State, it’s now very clear that as far as the citizens of Imo State are concerned, Senator Hope Uzodimma remains unacceptable and rejected!

If observant, as an old infantry soldier should be at all times, President Buhari would notice that the majority of the people of Imo State aren’t with Uzodimma, but are maintaining social distances from him, for obvious reasons!

As far back as 2003, Ndimo have continually rejected Uzodimma. As it was in the beginning, so has it been till date in 2021. Anti-people Uzodimma is evidently unpopular, unloved, unwanted, unacceptable, to the larger number of Imo people.

It’s not a matter of the organized opposition’s constructive criticisms of the anti-people Uzodimma regime, as it is of Ndimo, with very cogent reasons, massively disapproving the visit by the president at a time of Uzodimma’s failure to deliver good leadership and good governance!

It’s clear that because, Ndimo rejects Uzodimma, they also reject his dishonest plans such as the plan to host the president amid copious instances of injustices, deprivations and depravations of the people by the current regime at all levels – national, State, and local government!

The copious reasons for Ndimo undermining and disregarding the presidential visit and its host can’t be over-emphasized as they’re trending in the social media. They’re truth told to power by the real owners of the power! Ndimo distance themselves from Uzodimma!

For example, Ndimo have been asking what the presidential visit is all about. In other words, they want to be acquainted with what the president is coming to do in Imo State that is being steadily devastated by Uzodimma. The explanations thus far by Uzodimma haven’t been bought by the people. They smell of fraud and forgery!

Ndimo feel further betrayed and sabotaged by Uzodimma, who has so far failed all integrity tests on good leadership and good governance in Imo State, deeming it appropriate to beg President Buhari to come and commission invisible projects, and purportedly hold interactive townhall meetings in the State, and the president honouring such invitation.

How many projects has Uzodimma established in Imo State? What and what are Uzodimma’s projects? Where and where are Uzodimma’s projects? Name them! Ndimo don’t require mirrors to see their wristbands! Uzodimma hasn’t any projects anywhere in Imo State!

In the past recent days, Ndimo must have been reminded of the dishonest and insincere processes that controversially culminated in the Supreme Court making Uzodimma governor against the popular will of the people.

Imolites must have recalled how their precious votes were made not to count after they massively cast them for their choice of party, PDP, and their choice of governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON only for the Supreme Court to subvert the will of God and the people for Imo State and Imo people.

The people must have remembered how Uzodimma overnight ruined the functional and functioning leadership and governance system that he inherited, restoring the dark days of negatives, unhappiness, sadness and sorrow in the lives of the people of the State.

They must have sadly considered the numerous roads that were under construction by the PDP/Ihedioha RebuildImo administration, which Uzodimma inherited, chased the contractors away, and abandoned!

Ndimo must be recalling the restoration of joy and happiness in Imo State for the better life of Imo people, the restored confidence in government and governance, the silver lining on the dark sky that was hitherto heavily over the State and the people, and the thin light at the end of the Imo tunnel!

Imo workers and pensioners, their children and families, and loved ones, especially, must be recalling with nostalgia the disruption of the novel functional system of receiving bank alerts for the payments of their salaries and pensions by the PDP/Ihedioha RebuildImo administration.

With Uzodimma’s sustainable bad leadership and bad governance capacity and deliveries, it’s not difficult to understand and appreciate the sustainable rejection of Uzodimma and his regime by the good people that are in the majority in Imo State.

Ndimo don’t want Uzodimma. Pure and simple. They don’t want his questionable character and conduct. They don’t want his unreliable, undependable, unrewarding, fraudulent representation, which was tested and failed in his wasted eight years as the Senator for Orlu Zone.

Therefore, it’s unpatriotic of anti-people, clueless, inept and incompetent Uzodimma and his frustrated miserable sycophants to be hatefully and maliciously vilifying Imo people, subjecting them to various shades of opprobrious torture and torments, because Imolites choose to resolutely stand firmly by their tacit decision to reject an Uzodimma, who doesn’t have their votes and their mandates! It’s not by force! God save Imo and Ndimo!

By God’s grace, Imo State must be rebuilt!!

OPEN GRAZING: Fears, Suspicions About Buhari’s Visit To Imo State

By Collins Opurozor

Till this moment, Chief Hope Uzodinma has not told Imo people why President Buhari has chosen to visit Imo State on Thursday. Everything is still hearsay or gossip. A bus driver has one thing to say and his conductor has a totally different story about the visit. Anyone can say anything, and everyone can believe everything, and no one knows anything. The whole thing is mysterious as a sphinx with the head of a human, a falcon, a cat, a sheep and the body of a lion. And if finally it holds, this would be the most un-presidential visit in the modern history of Nigeria. Uzodinma is now like the proverbial man who weeps and prepares for burial without announcing who has died.

Concerned Imo citizens have asked the regime of Uzodinma to show any project which President Buhari is coming to commission. Nothing has been shown to anybody. Agents of the regime have instead been seen sweeping and repainting some roads done by the Ihedioha Administration.

And because Uzodinma’s tenure, which is now almost two years, has recorded the worst variant of infrastructural decay and a strange wolf of insecurity in Imo State, speaking of commissioning of projects would be the most bizarre and comical thing to hear.

There are also rumours that Buhari is coming for a meeting. Some say it is a meeting of Southeast elders or Igbo leaders. This further begs the question of whom the elders of Ndigbo are and where their meetings take place. Socioculturally, Ohanaeze Ndigbo remains the apex leadership group in Igboland. And Enugu, which is the capital of the Southeast, is also the headquarters of Ohanaeze. It is not Imo State.

This visit, also, cannot be associated to partisan politics. Currently, the APC, which National Caretaker Committee was restrained from operating by a court of law, has no extant leadership. Moreover, Ebonyi too is an APC state, and by being lately better than Imo in terms of security, it would have been safer for such visit and meeting to hold there.

Already, the Directorate of State of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has reportedly ordered a sit-at-home in the entire Southeast on Thursday in protest against the presidential visit. However, this was quickly countered by a faction of Ohanaeze Youth Wing which is known to be romancing hotly with the regime of Hope Uzodinma. Deep fears, suspicions and worries have now enveloped the whole land. And tension, too.

One thing that feeds the fears of a majority in Imo is Uzodinma’s recent shocking betrayal of all the Southern Governors on the question of open grazing. In Abuja after a meeting with Buhari last week, Uzodinma had addressed the press and distanced himself from any plan to enact anti-open grazing law in Imo. He even denied the existence of any regulation to open grazing in Imo, even when the Udenwa Administration in 2006 had enacted one. Buhari’s visit to Imo at this time has been interpreted by many to mean a gesture of appreciation to Uzodinma for that, since Buhari has himself expressed strong support for open grazing. Today in Imo, rumours are everywhere that the regime of Uzodinma may have concluded plans to acquire hectares of land in Oguta and Onuimo areas for grazing reserves. The spokespersons of the regime have kept mum over these troubling rumours, leaving Imo people in a wilderness of apprehension.

Are there plans to establish grazing reserves in Imo? This is one question Uzodinma needs to answer very urgently. His silence on the issue can no longer be justified, and with this inexplicable visit by Buhari, everyone in Imo is now deeply concerned.

Governance is not a secret cult. The regime and its supporters must immediately begin to explain to Imo people the rationale for this sudden visit. Where are the projects to be commissioned by Buhari? The taxpayers need to know how their taxes are spent. Hosting lavish presidential parties in a state with deafening cries over nonpayment of salaries and pensions cannot be deemed rational by anyone. Uzodinma needs to explain this visit to Imo people, the purpose and the expectations. That is the least he owes them.

Guinean Coup Plotter And The Alleged Background Support Of The U.S. Army

By: Njoku MacDonald Obinna

Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Coup d’etat , also called coup , is the sudden , violent or systematic overthrow of an existing government by a small group. The chief prerequisite for a coup is control of all or part of the armed forces ; the police , and other military formations with the assistance of informants and other influential external interested parties.

In this case , the United States of America (USA) 🇺🇸 has been accused by the Western Media to have financially bankrolled last Sunday’s coup d’ etat in Guinea whereby a serving third -term President Alpha Conde was suddenly overthrown by his Aide -de – Camp (ADC); a well trained confidential security officer attached to the ‘ personal ‘ or private staff of a general or high ranking public officer.

The leader of the Coup CNRD Mamady Doumbouya , was a Corporal in France and returned home in 2018.Subsequently, President Alpha Conde appointed him the battalion commander and in 2019 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and then got promoted to Colonel in 2020.

When the military High Command had issues with his third term, Alpha Condé purged the presidential guard and established a group of special forces who were loyal to him and Mamady Doumbouya was made to lead that well-equipped special forces. Unfortunately, they caught him off guard with the assistance of other compromised military formations.

Indeed, life is endless battle and conflict , and you cannot fight effectively unless you can identify your enemies. People are subtle and evasive , disguising their intentions ,pretending to be on your side. You need clarity to learn how to smoke out your enemies, to spot them by the signs and patterns that reveal hostility.

Amid reports of lingering political upheavals in the Republic of Guinea 🇬🇳, Col. Mamady Doumbouya , President Alpha Conde ‘s Aide -De -Camp , allegedly received a secret invitation for a security meeting with the U.S. Army , yet, this man wasn’t aware! But rather being too naive with a friendly – enemy within.

However, recent research has shown that we live in a very delicate season; an era in which people are seldom directly hostile. The rules of systematic engagement – social , political , military – have changed, and so must your notion and approach of the enemy.

Absolving the repentant Boko Haram members into the Nigerian Army is one of the costly mistakes the APC – led Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari is making. Giving defectors from other political parties sensitive positions in your Government in the name of ‘ political inclusiveness ‘ is another dangerous game any sensitive, proactive and responsive Governor shouldn’t play.

Go for technocrats, boardroom business strategists and the think- tanks that will drive your policies even if they are not members of your political party; than the career politicians who feed fat on propaganda as they will be the first to attack you once your government collapses to pave way for the new Sheriff in town. It is about their interest, not good governance.

Is it not surprising to the naive ousted Pr Alpha Condé Pour Tous that the leader of that special forces he created led a coup against him.?

An emerging online picture shows that the mutineers also used ‘juju’ , an African or black magic power to arrest the president. Meaning his ADC knows his in -and – out !

Below is a picture of the coup ring leader, Col. Mamady Doumbouya, at the U.S. Embassy four days ago before the plot was executed in Guinea last Sunday, September 5, 2021.

DSS Gets Three-Day Ultimatum To Release Two Detained Sunday Igboho’s aides

The Department of State Service has been given a three-day ultimatum to release the two remaining aides of Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
After the ultimatum which expires on Monday, the counsel to the detained aides, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said the secret police will be taken to court for contempt.

He said this after two of the four remaining aides of the Yoruba rights activist were released on Friday.
The PUNCH had reported that Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, home of Igboho was invaded by men from DSS about 1:30am, July 1, 2021, leading to the arrest of 12 of his aides, while Igboho managed to escape arrest.
On Monday, August 30, eight aides of Sunday Igboho were released by DSS even as they had been granted bail since August 4, 2021.

The secret police detained four others, claiming they were actively involved in Igboho’s “criminal activities.”
However, Olajengbesi announced on Friday that two of the four – Tajudeen Irinloye and Uthman Opeymi Adelabu – have been released.
Reacting to their release in a statement, the lawyer said, “Regrettably and in the whimsical habit of the DSS, only two of the remaining four received their freedom while the other two namely; Amudat Habibat Babatunde and Jamiu Noah Oyetunji, remain in the unlawful custody of the DSS.
“No valid reasons based on law were availed the Legal Team for this willful disobedience of the rule of law and express Order of court.
“The DSS’ act of cherry-picking of an order of the court is an open dare and affront on the authority of the issuing court and it lacks legal justification under the extant laws of Nigeria. It is indeed a condemnable action in any sane democratic society and speaks ill of the professionalism of the intelligence agency.

“The DSS simply has no right nor power to select or unilaterally handpick which order of the court is convenient for it to obey or honor. It is bound to obey all. Any iota of non-compliance to an order of the court is tantamount to a disregard of such an order in its entirety and a challenge to the Constitution. This capricious act is contemptuous.
“Consequently, we hereby restate that if by Monday the 6th of September, 2021, the DSS continue with their unlawful detention of the remaining two (2) detainees, we shall not hesitate to proceed forthwith with our earlier plans to institute Contempt proceeding against the Director-General of the SSS.

“The DSS as a law enforcement agency should not be allowed to carry out its official responsibility with impunity and absolute disrespect to the laws of the land, especially where the constitutional rights and liberty of citizens are at stake. It is reprehensible conduct unbecoming of an agency that is itself a creation of the law and it will not go unchallenged.”

PDP Announces Abuja As Venue For National Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday announced Abuja as the venue of its elective National Convention scheduled for October 30-31.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the announcement after the 92nd National Executive Committee meeting of the party in Abuja on Saturday.

He noted that the body also resolved to meet on September 9th to ratify appointments into the various committees for the convention.

FG declares ex-Naval officer wanted over anti-Buhari interview on Channels TV

The Federal Government has declared a former Navy Commodore, Kunle Olawunmi, wanted over his revelations on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ breakfast programme last Wednesday.
He had claimed Boko Haram terrorists mentioned names of current governors, senators and Aso Rock officials as sponsors during interrogation but the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has demonstrated an unwillingness to go after the high-profile politicians for reasons best known to him.

Olawunmi, a Professor of Global Security Studies, had said, “You remember this Boko Haram issue started in 2012 and I was in the military intelligence at that time. We arrested those people. My organisation actually conducted interrogation and they (suspects) mentioned names. I can’t come on air and start mentioning names of people that are presently in government that I know that the boys that we arrested mentioned.

Some of them are governors now, some of them are in the Senate, some of them are in Aso Rock.
“Why should a government decide to cause this kind of embarrassment and insecurity to the sense of what happened yesterday (Tuesday attack on Nigerian Defence Academy)?” he queried, adding that terrorist financiers want to turn Nigeria to a Taliban type of country.

The PUNCH gathered from competent sources that the intelligence agencies including the Department of State Services and the Defence Intelligence Agency have since launched a manhunt for Olawunmi.
When contacted, DIA spokesperson, Major Afolashade Ojolowo, said he has been on leave and could not confirm the development.
Recall that the National Broadcasting Commission summoned Channels Television anchors including Chamberlain Usoh and Kayode Okikiolu over alleged anti-Buhari comments made by Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on the programme on Tuesday.

Ortom had said he was disappointed with the way the Presidency is handling the nation’s security challenges.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that the NBC queried Channels Television over the “inciting, divisive and unfair comments” made by Ortom on the programme on Tuesday and moved to sanction the television station.
The NBC had in May slammed a fine of N5million each on Channels TV and Inspiration FM Lagos for alleged infractions of the broadcasting code.

Channels TV had featured the spokesperson for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Emma Powerful, on its ‘Politics Today’ programme.

OPEN GRAZING: Is Uzodinma A Northern Ruler In The South?

By Collins Opurozor

The atrocities of armed herdsmen are already well-known. These are daredevil criminals who have invaded many communities before the break of dawn, slaughtered innocent men like chicken, raped vulnerable women onto death, cut open the throats of children, destroyed farmlands and painted far too many forests red with blood.

They have taken credit for the onslaughts against defenceless citizens of this nation and have continued to assert that they can wreak even more havoc upon Nigeria without repercussions. The President of their group, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, has often spoken very eloquently that they are sacred cows in the country and they live far above the law. They bask in the euphoria of this ostensible untouchability, and their Secretary, Saleh Alhassan Kubah, describes Nigeria as the estate of their forefathers and often restates their commitment to dislocate indigenous populations and forcefully occupy whichever land they want anywhere in Nigeria.

But, long before the carnage of these killer herdsmen and their incendiary outbursts became an issue especially in Southern Nigeria, many civil society organizations in the South had looked into the future and done some threat analyses. A group like ASETU had begun to scream a year or two before 2015 that a festival of blood would by levied on Southern Nigeria by armed herdsmen in the nearest future. It was then that the search for solution began.

In 2016, a pan-Igbo security summit was organized at Royal Palace Hotels in Enugu where it was resolved that open grazing of cattle must be done away with for the security of lives and property of Ndigbo to be guaranteed. This decision by Igbo organizations, notably ASETU, ADF, WIC, Nzuko Umunna, Ohanaeze and Aka Ikenga to stop open grazing was informed by a deep study of the dynamics of conflicts from the plateaus of Mambilla to the plains of Southern Taraba, and down to the Benue valleys. One thing was clear: there was an aggressive plot by the herdsmen to violently expropriate the indigenous populations from their ancestral lands.

Before November 2018, three different letters from these prominent Igbo groups had been received by all the Governors in the South East, urging them to enact anti-open grazing and forest guard legislations, as well as the (re)activation of community-level intelligence gathering mechanisms through the neighborhood watch. In early 2019, the Igbo Unity Summit was organized at Villa Garden Hotels in Owerri for the purpose of getting open grazing banned in Igboland through a law. This was followed by a security retreat in Abakaliki and finally another security retreat at Universal Hotels in Enugu. And between February 2020 and March 2021, two other written appeals were made to the Governors for anti-open grazing laws. Chief Hope Uzodinma received those of Imo State.

It was therefore a reflection of the collective aspirations of Igbo people when the Southern Governors’ Forum met in Asaba and Lagos respectively and banned open grazing and mandated all the States in the region to enact anti-open grazing laws before September 1, 2021. Many States have since complied and enacted the laws while some others are also still dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s in the proposed legislations.

But, what is now heartbreaking is that the only person in Southern Nigeria who has come out openly to speak against this decision of the Southern Governors is Chief Hope Uzodinma of Imo State. He has said he would not make any anti-open grazing law to keep killer herdsmen away from Imo State. He has given an open cheque to the herdsmen. He has sold out Imo State, Ndigbo and the entire South. He has mocked all those who have been brutally murdered by the bloodthirsty herdsmen. He has once again demonstrated his abiding hatred for his own people. At this perilous moment, he has chosen to allow Imo people perish in the hands of the deadly militiamen often called herdsmen. The agonies of Imo people seem to give a special kind of happiness to Uzodinma.

Recall that the fire of insecurity that has engulfed the entire South East actually began in Imo State as a result of some skirmishes between the herdsmen and some Orlu communities , particularly Obor and Umutanze, which Uzodinma was unable to respond to and address. Today, so many lives have been lost and so many tears shed. Today, Imo has become desolate and Uzodinma has instead refused to think, hearken to the yearnings of the people and offer leadership.

By faithfully upholding the agenda of Miyetti Allah and jettisoning the collective decision of Southern Governors which was informed by the pangs and tears of the people, Uzodinma appears like a Northern feudal lord sent to conquer the South and reduce the people to mere serfs. He comes across as a colonial master. Is Uzodinma a Northern Ruler in the South? This is the question everyone is asking.

Imo shall rise again!

IMO IPMAN STRIKE: Why Punish The Poor For The Sins Of The Wealthy? – Onwuasonya FCC Jones

The Imo State Chapter of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Union is on strike, allegedly in solidarity with one of their members whose filling station was demolished by a past administration in the State. While I cannot immediately remember if the same union embarked on the same solidarity strike action when the station was initially demolished, this particular strike action is basically to protest the “refusal of government to abide by a court ruling on the matter.” However, the Imo State Government has explained that it has approached the courts for redress over what it found as an unfair judgement.

Scapegoating ordinary, defenseless and long-suffering masses for actions that they are wholly not part of is the most irresponsible and wicked form of industrial unionism and it can amount to some form of criminal exploitation.

The Imo State Commissioner for Information, Chief Declan Emelumba had explained that the union kept the incumbent administration in the dark as regards the judgement, presumably, to ensure that time elapsed within which it would have appealed the judgement. But on receiving the details of the judgement, the government approached the courts, maybe, to seek leave to appeal the judgement. This is appropriate, legally and democratically. Even though, some people might suggest that the government employs the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism to avert this collision.

It goes without saying that nothing is completely free of politics. And in Imo State recently, everything has become tainted with the most acerbic strain of political conspiracy. The opposition has concentrated all its energy on making sure that the current administration is demonized before the people. Such is the bitterness in the system that even the most basic welfare and security of the people can be sacrificed in order to get at the governor or decimate his administration. That is not opposition, it is clear witchcraft.

The ongoing industrial action embarked by the IPMAN in Imo State is one of such instances, where ordinary people are made to bear the brunt for political, social or economic tussle among the elites. The reality is that no matter how long the industrial action lasts, the governor and all top operatives of his administration and even top leaders of the opposition will not feel any serious inconvenience. The petroleum marketers themselves would also be making brisk businesses from the agonies and frustrations of the masses, because they are the same people who would open their petrol stations at midnight to clandestinely dispense petrol to black marketers and even the same politicians at cutthroat prices. At the end, what we have is one group of oppressors conspiring with another group of oppressors to further oppress the already terribly oppressed masses.

I will pretend or assume that the opposition has no hand in the ongoing and absolutely unnecessary and even illegal strike action embarked upon by the petroleum marketers in the State, and specifically discuss this from the perspective of activism, solidarity and labour unionism as the IPMAN leaders would want us to.

I do not know if the procedures for embarking on industrial action as stipulated in international and local labour laws were duly followed before this action was taken by the IPMAN, but I am aware that one of the laws guiding industrial relations is that any dispute that would lead to industrial action must have to do with a trade dispute. I will have to be better enlightened by the Imo State IPMAN or anyone sympathetic to this action on how an ongoing legal dispute between the State Government and one of its members or even with the IPMAN itself, amounts to a trade dispute. And even if it were, what law permits the IPMAN or any labour union to take laws into its own hands, when all the judicial processes have not been exhausted.

If the major motivation behind this strike action by the marketers had not been to blackmail the current administration in Imo State and demonize it as anti-people, the petroleum marketers should have adopted different methods that would have directly affected the government and its officials.

Some of those methods that wouldn’t have put the masses through these avoidable troubles, and yet more effective are;

1. Protest marches: the union should have led its members to protest marches to government offices, especially, the ministries and agencies directly involved in the ongoing dispute. They should have also barricaded the Imo State Government House in order to impress it on the government to access to their demands.

2. They should have declared a boycott on selling their products to any identified government personnel or vehicles bearing government plate numbers.

3. Publications Across media platforms: the IPMAN did not carry out any sensitization campaign to prepare the minds of Imolites for this strike action. This in itself makes the industrial action illegal, given that their services are mostly patronized by ordinary Imo people and not the government. IMO people pay these marketers for their products and deserve due consultation before they lock up their shops.

4. Picketing: picketing is a type of protest that has been found to be very effective over the ages and this would have been a more responsible action than the unwarranted and abrupt closure of all filling stations in the State which puts ordinary Imolites through added hardships. Had the union picketed even the Ministry of Justice or that of Finance, it would have sent the right signals and also kept the ordinary people away from their dispute.

5. Garnishee Order: If truly there is a binding and final court judgement requiring the government to pay compensation to the affected comrade, the union should have explored the option of securing a garnishee order from the same court, compelling financial institutions handling Imo State Government accounts to pay the stated amount to the affected marketer. This would have also spared the masses the undue suffering they are currently going through.

It is understandable that a good number of members of IPMAN are partisans without varied interests and loyalties, but the group must devise new strategies to play its politics and protect its interests without using the ordinary masses as pawns to settle its differences with the government.

MY FATHER, MY FATHER! FORTY YEARS AND COUNTING… – Chris Maduka

Twice the great Ikoro (Oke’ekwe) calls the Great ones; In life, and also salute them in death. Because as a great Author and scientist Lecomte Du Nouy once said: No person ever disappears completely if they choose to do good outside any personal gains or ambitions, outside anything other than having contributed towards the advancement of human beings and to better their condition.

It was also late Justice Aniagolu who once said that “No matter how long anyone of us might live, we shall be dead way longer than we will ever live”.

Perhaps they made these remarks to encourage all to do what’s right regardless of how discouraging it might be to do good, or even the danger of standing on the right side of the truth, but most importantly standing right before God.

My late father was One man I can stand here to testify that his life was guided by the above principles.

It has been forty long years since my father; Mazi David Mmaduka Okoro transitioned to the greater beyond as it pleased God to call him home as his job was done.

Well, of course time heals most wounds and broken hearts but, the fact still remains that Mazi was a very unique person. A rare gem in every sense of it. He still remains irreplaceable because he set such a very high moral standard as he left tremendous goodwill which still subsists and sustains his descendants and those previlaged to have come under his wings.

His sense of duty towards the betterment of human condition was legendary. Passed on barely a decade after the brutal civil war, Mazi used that short period to demonstrate what it means for us all to live as children of the most high God. He was one of those men that gave all they had to help heal the bruises of the devastating civil war.

He realized from back then that the greatest investment in the world is the one made on people. He invested his resources in raising young-men and uplifting people from across the entire community and beyond, both in formal education and business apprenticeship and mentorship. He provided the very needed platform for so many to stand and seek for their way towards the future when it mattered most.

Today, we celebrate him as one of the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES G.O.A.T. He used all he got to do what he could and we pray God to continue to grant hie eternal rest.

Mazi, continue to rest in peace as your good works here on earth truly earned you a deserving place in the realm where the one we worship with piety and humble adoration – the Good God Almighty rules, as you heard from him: WELL DONE.

Buhari Orders Security Agencies To Fish Out Killers Of Plateau Travellers

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has directed security agencies to ensure that those who killed travellers on Saturday in Plateau State are arrested and brought to justice.
Buhari gave the directive in a statement made available to journalists by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

The statement was titled ‘Presidency strongly condemns hoodlum attacks on travellers.’
It quoted the President as saying that “Make no mistake about it: in line with my commitment to protect all Nigerians, I have ordered our security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of this gruesome massacre of innocent travellers and bring them to justice.”

While commiserating with families of the victims, the Presidency promised to continue to work with local authorities to ensure safety of lives and property.
It noted that the incident was not a herders-farmers clash but wickedly motivated attack on those exercising their rights to travel freely and to follow the faith of their choosing.

The statement read, “The Presidency condemns the attack earlier Saturday on travellers from a religious event in Bauchi, passing through Jos, the Plateau State Capital and regrets the reported deaths of at least twenty-two persons with several others injured in that ambush on their travelling party.
“It is widely known that Plateau State has been one of the states affected by herder-farmer clashes, which have, in a significant way, been curtailed following the intense peace-building efforts of the administration of Governor Simon Lalong.

“However, to be clear, this is not an agriculturalist-on-pastoralist confrontation – but rather a direct, brazen and wickedly motivated attack on members of a community exercising their rights to travel freely and to follow the faith of their choosing.
“With the evident preparedness of their attackers, it is clear this was a well-conceived and prearranged assault on a known target, location and religious persuasion of the travellers not an opportunist ambush.

“The Presidency offers condolences to the families of the victims and continues to liaise closely with the local authorities – including security, the police, and governmental agencies.
“These kinds of attacks on our country’s citizens are unacceptable, heinous, and stand in complete contradiction to the teachings of the great religions of our nation.
“The Presidency stands steadfast with both Christians and Muslims at this time in condemnation of this latest attack and expects and insists that justice is swiftly – but fairly – delivered to the perpetrators”
The statement added that as the facts of the incident continue to unfold, the Presidency commended the ongoing efforts by the Governors of Plateau, Bauchi, and Ondo; the Sultan of Sokoto His Eminence Sa’ad Abubakar III and Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as well as a number of notable Christian and Muslim leaders as they intensify efforts to calm down the situation.

Biden Sends 5,000 US Soldiers To Afghanistan, Warns Taliban

He warned the Taliban that any action “that puts US personnel or our mission at risk there, will be met with a swift and strong US military response.”
Biden’s announcement came after Taliban insurgents captured the main northern holdout city of Mazar-i-Sharif and continued their rapid march towards the capital Kabul.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani pledged Saturday not to let the “imposed war on people cause more deaths,” and said consultations were taking place to try to help end the war, without offering details.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who was part of the team that conferred with Biden, spoke by telephone with Ghani on Saturday, his spokesman said.
“They discussed the urgency of ongoing diplomatic and political efforts to reduce the violence,” spokesman Ned Price said.

Blinken was also expected to “engage with key regional stakeholders” on the escalating Taliban march on Kabul, Biden said.
Earlier, US Central Command said more American military personnel had arrived in Kabul to ensure the safe evacuation of American embassy employees and Afghan civilians who worked for US forces.
The Pentagon estimates it will need to evacuate about 30,000 people before it completes its withdrawal from Afghanistan by August 31, a deadline set by Biden.
Biden’s decision to pull troops out of Afghanistan has come under increased scrutiny given the implosion of the country’s armed forces, but he said he had no other choice — and laid some of the blame at the feet of Donald Trump.
“When I came to office, I inherited a deal cut by my predecessor… that left the Taliban in the strongest position militarily since 2001 and imposed a May 1, 2021, deadline on US forces,” Biden said.
“I faced a choice — follow through on the deal, with a brief extension to get our forces and our allies’ forces out safely, or ramp up our presence and send more American troops to fight once again in another country’s civil conflict,” he added.
“I was the fourth president to preside over an American troop presence in Afghanistan — two Republicans, two Democrats. I would not, and will not, pass this war onto a fifth,” Biden said.

Zambia Opposition Leads Early Vote Count, Incumbent Cries Foul

Zambia opposition leads early vote count, incumbent cries foul
Zambia’s main opposition candidate was leading Saturday in partial results for a tight presidential election while incumbent leader Edgar Lungu cried foul in three provinces.
Following a high turnout in Thursday’s vote, Hakainde Hichilema, 59, was ahead of Lungu, 64, in about 40 per cent of the constituencies announced so far, even as EU observers said campaign conditions had been “unequal” and favoured the incumbent.

This is the third time Hichilema has challenged Lungu in what analysts said would be a closely-fought election amid growing resentment about rising living costs and crackdowns on dissent in the southern African country.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has so far released the results of 62 out of 156 constituencies, which put Hichilema ahead with 1,024,212 votes, compared to 562,523 for Lungu.

Both the ruling Patriotic Front party and main opposition United Party for National Development claim their respective candidates are in the lead, citing their own tabulations.
Hundreds of UPND supporters marched through the capital Lusaka on Saturday, voicing impatience at the ECZ.

Soldiers deployed to police Thursday’s vote following violent pre-election clashes monitored the scene from armoured military vehicles.
Voting dragged on late into the night and saw sporadic clashes and troop reinforcements in three provinces after two deaths were reported on election day, including a ruling party chairman.

Lungu on Saturday said the violence, which was concentrated in UPND strongholds, rendered the election unfair.
“With polling agents having been attacked and chased from polling stations, we were reduced to competing in seven (out of ten) provinces,” he said in a statement, adding that the PF was “consulting on the next course of action”.
Some analysts have expressed concern that Lungu might not accept anything other than victory.

Social media access, throttled in Lusaka just before Hichilema cast his vote, was fully restored on Saturday following a high court order.
The final outcome is set be announced within 72 hours of the last polling station’s closing time, meaning the wait could stretch to early Monday.
– ‘Transparent’ vote –
There has been widespread concern about election rigging.
Scuffles occurred at several polling stations after people were accused of carrying pre-marked ballot papers, which the ECZ has denied.
The head of the African Union’s observer mission, Ernest Bai Koroma — a former president of Sierra Leone — on Saturday said voting “operations were conducted in a peaceful, transparent and professional manner”.
European Union counterparts were slightly more critical of the poll, denouncing the internet curbs and “unequal campaign conditions”.

The electoral process was “technically well-managed” but “marred by… restrictions on freedoms of assembly and movement, and abuse of incumbency”, chief observer Maria Arena told a press briefing.
Security forces blocked Hichilema from campaigning in several parts of the country, including the strategic Copperbelt Province, citing breaches of coronavirus measures and a public order act.
Around seven million people were registered to vote, the majority aged between 24 and 34, out of a population of over 17 million.

Alongside the president, they also elected a parliamentary representative, a mayor and local councillor.
Hichilema is running for the sixth time, backed by an alliance of ten opposition parties.

Police Detains Witness To My Brother’s Shooting At Abuja Viewing Centre, Kept CCTV Footage -Sister

A 34-year-old furniture maker, Emmanuel Samuel, was allegedly shot by trigger-happy policemen at a football viewing centre in Abuja, where he went to watch the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England.

The football enthusiast later died.
His sister, Veronica Samuel, accuses the police of frustrating the family’s quest for justice, in this interview with GODFREY GEORGE
Who are you to Emmanuel Samuel that was shot at an Abuja football viewing centre during the Euro 2020 final?
Emmanuel Samuel is my younger brother. He was killed by police officers in Abuja when he went to watch the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England. He was 34 years old. I am the firstborn of the family; he is the third.

Were you there on the day the incident happened?
No, I was not. I was in Kaduna, where I am based. He lived in Abuja. He was a furniture maker.

How did you hear about the incident?
My other younger brother, Hosea Samuel, called me the following day after the incident, July 10, 2021, to tell me what had happened. The call came at about 6am. I had just woken up for my morning devotion and he called to tell me that Emmanuel had been shot. I was so confused. Who wouldn’t? You wake up in the morning and you are greeted with bad news.
I didn’t bathe or even brush my teeth; I rushed to the bus park and boarded a bus to Abuja. I got to Abuja before 8am. I saw my brother and I began to weep.
What were you told led to his shooting?
When I asked them what happened and who shot him, they told me that he was shot by a police officer at Emperor Gardens, Abuja, where he, his fiancée and their friends had gone to watch the Euro final.

He was someone who loved soccer very much. They told me that, on that day, some policemen in uniform came to arrest one Jafaru at the garden. They said Jafaru was smoking Indian hemp and they had come to arrest him. One of them cocked his gun and faced the people in the bar. My brother, Emmanuel, then, told him to please be mindful of the position of his gun, so as not to shoot mistakenly at anyone and term it accidental discharge, especially as he had cocked his gun. So many people heard what he said.

The policemen picked Jafaru and put him in their van. The place became a bit rowdy, so Emmanuel decided to leave with his fiancee. On his way, a few steps away, just across the road, he was shot by the police officer on the back of his thigh. This was at Saburi One, MOPOL Barracks, around Dei Dei, Abuja.
Everyone ran, including the officers and the Jafaru whom they had come to arrest. They drove their Hilux van and left. It was just Emmanuel’s fiancée and his friends who, after some time, saw that Emmanuel was on the ground, bleeding, that took him to the hospital.
That was where another ‘Nigerian factor’ played out. The hospital they rushed him to, Kubwa General Hospital, asked them for a police report before the could begin treatment.
All the pleas by his fiancée and friends fell on deaf ears as the hospital said they were acting on ‘government directive’.
When they refused to treat him, what did his friends do?
They quickly went to the nearby police station to explain what had happened.
They told them that a police officer had just shot Emmanuel and they needed a police report so the doctors could commence treatment.
The police said it was impossible for one of their men to shoot anybody who was not a criminal. The youths became aggressive at some point at the station.

They told the officers to come with them and stay with Emmanuel at the hospital if they felt he was a criminal, but they should save his life first. After much ado, the officers at the Gwa-Gwa Police Station referred them to another nearby hospital in Gwa-Gwa.

There, they treated him unprofessionally.
They said they stitched his legs. Who stitches gunshot wounds with bandages on it? I have a video of everything that happened. Hosea, his brother, did a video of the treatment. A doctor friend whom I showed the video to said they don’t stitch gunshot wounds. He told me, “Vera, find a way out of there!”. The policemen were present when Emmanuel was being treated.

They even wanted to cuff him while he received treatment. It was my brother, Hosea, who resisted the move. How do you handcuff someone who has just been shot, bleeding and receiving treatment? We recorded everything.
Did you move him out of that hospital following the advice by this doctor friend of yours?
I went to the Investigating Police Officer to ask her why she did not give my brother a police report so he could access good medical care.

She didn’t give a satisfying answer. I told her, “I have nothing, but if anything happens to my brother, I will make sure the police pay for it.” I left. A policeman who knew Emmanuel was the one who dropped his identity card and signed as a surety before we were able to take him to another hospital, the Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital, Abuja, where he died eight days later. He was shot on July 9, 2021 and he died on July 19, 2021.

When we got to the hospital, I called the IPO to come there to do whatever checks they wanted to do on him. She then followed me to the hospital and sat for a while and said, “We are into the case. We are investigating.” I can tell you that these people were not into any case. They were telling me that if I knew where Jafaru was, I should produce him, or I should tell my brother to produce him.

Were your brother and Jafaru friends?
No, they were not. He only went there to have fun with his fiancée and friends and that was the only crime he committed. If he knew Jafaru, why put himself through all this stress till his death and allow the Jafaru roam the streets of Abuja a free man? The police should do their job; if they are looking for Jafaru, they should search for him well, but telling us to produce him is what I don’t understand.

What happened after this?
When he died around 2pm on July 19, 2021, I called the IPO and told her I had lost my brother, and I was coming for them with all that I have. I went there the following day, took the remains of my brother to the Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital Mortuary, Abuja. The attendants said my bill was N25, 000; I paid them N5, 000, because I had spent over N100,000 when my brother was in the hospital.
They were still insisting I get Jafaru for them. Am I a police officer? My brother just died after being shot by a police officer and they showed no empathy. I have not seen a more ruthless set of people all my life. They told me to provide the witnesses who saw what happened on the day Emmanuel was shot to write their statements.
I brought them, and they detained them for three days. I was shocked to find out that they were detained by the same police who are supposed to protect them. Now, the guys have refused to talk to me after this, because they felt I connived with the police to arrest them and get them detained.
I did not. They are innocent. I know deep down.
Have the police given any update on the officer who did the shooting?
They are frustrating me. These police people are frustrating me. I have almost given up on the fight for justice for my brother. I lost my dad only six months ago – January 15, 2021 – and I am losing my brother the same year. I have not finished mourning dad. In our tradition, we don’t keep corpses.
I am from Kaduna State. Now, my family are angry with me; they want me to let go of everything. But I need justice. Everybody is asking me to give up on this case and go back to Kaduna.
What is delaying his burial?
The police have refused to release his corpse to me for burial. I have been on this case for more than three weeks. I have not rested since Emmanuel died.
They wanted to release his corpse to me last week, but they said the case was now with the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
Did you petition the IG over the case?
I did not.

It was the Southern Kaduna People’s Union who petitioned the IG and the Nigeria Police. The police are saying until the IG gives a go-ahead order, they would not release the corpse. My family, on the one hand, blames me for fighting for justice in the first place.
The police said they are investigating to find out who the officers that shot the bullets might be. They haven’t even accepted it was one of their men who did it. They said it was only an assumption, that they were not sure ‘an officer of the law’ would do that to a law-abiding citizen’. I just need my brother’s corpse released to me.

There was a CCTV camera in that bar; do you know the owner of that place claimed not to have remembered that he had a CCTV camera in his bar? Nobody could remember they had a CCTV camera; it was me who came from Kaduna that spotted the camera on my first visit to the bar.
Was there CCTV footage from that day?
Yes, there is. I stormed the bar the very day I came and asked to see the owner of the place. They said the owner was not around, but I noticed he was watching me from the CCTV camera.
I thought they must have told the police about the CCTV camera, but they said they didn’t remember they had CCTV cameras installed in that bar. It was two weeks ago I told them to provide the CCTV camera for investigation.
The police have collected the CCTV footage from that day and it has been with them since then. I have been going everyday for us to review the content, but they have been pushing it forward.
Today (August 3, 2021), I was in the station from 9am till evening for the CCTV review and we didn’t have it. They are even yet to turn it on.
Don’t you think you need a lawyer at this point?
SOKAPU got me a lawyer, but where is the money to pay him? On the day I met with him, he said his fee was N5,000; I didn’t have that amount. All I had on that day was N1,500 and I gave him N1,000 and used N500 for transportation. I was not happy with that, because I know no lawyer would take that meagre fee for any case.
I am hopeless right now. All I have is God. I am not sure the case has been filed in court.
You mentioned he was there with his fiancée, how does she feel about his death?
She feels so terrible about it. They had just a few months before their wedding and we were getting ready. Imagine watching your own fiancée being shot for committing no crime. I cannot even begin to imagine the trauma.

Lionel Messi Closing On Two-Year, £50m PSG Deal

Lionel Messi is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Barcelona.
The 34-year-old is expected to sign a two-year contract next week, worth £25m a year after tax, with the option of a further year.

Messi left Barcelona after the La Liga club were unable to fulfil a new contract that had been agreed with the player due to “financial and structural obstacles”.
PSG, managed by Messi’s compatriot Mauricio Pochettino, quickly emerged as the frontrunners for his signature, in a move that would reunite him with former Barcelona team-mate Neymar.

PSG believe they have a good chance of completing a deal and can afford to sign him without breaking any Financial Fair Play rules.
Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos and Georginio Wijnaldum have already arrived at the Parc des Princes on free transfers this summer.

Messi, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner, had officially been a free agent since July 1 after he failed to agree terms over a renewal before his previous Barca contract expired on June 30.

Messi had spent his entire career at Barcelona, coming through the club’s academy before going on to score 672 goals in 778 appearances after making his senior debut in 2003.

Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged Murder In Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a lady, one Loretta Anoh, over the alleged murder of 36-year-old Chikoka Henry in the state.
The lady was arrested on August 4, 2021 by the operatives of the ‘B’ division, Ewet Housing, who also recovered a black-coloured car from the suspect after a report was lodged at the station by the brother to the deceased, one Collins Okpara.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, in a statement on Friday titled, ‘Akwa Ibom Police Command arrests murderer of 36-year-old Chikoka Emeka’, said the Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme, ordered prompt investigation into the matter upon receipt of the information which led to the arrest of the suspect.

According to Macedon, the operatives traced and arrested the suspect at the point of changing the ownership of the stolen car and recovered the sum of N2.9m from her.

The statement reads in part, “On 4/8/2021 at about 9:10am, following a complaint from one Collins Okpara of Afaha Road, Uyo that he contacted his brother, one Chikoka Emeka Henry, 36 years of age via phone but couldn’t get response, he decided to visit the said Chikoka in his apartment located at No. 2 Osongama Estate, Uyo.

“On arrival, he found him lying in his pool of blood, dead. He further informed the Police that his black 4Matic Mercedes Benz car with Reg. No. EKY 694 GP was removed from the car park.

“The report necessitated the Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme, to order a prompt investigation. Operatives of ‘B’ Division in Ewet Housing swiftly took action, removed the corpse of the deceased which preliminary examination showed a cut on his head and deposited at University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, for autopsy.

“Operatives trailed and arrested the principal suspect, one Lorretta Anoh ‘f’, who was last seen entering the apartment of the deceased on the 3/8/2021.
“An instant search on the suspect led to the recovery of the sum of two million, nine hundred and forty-three thousand, two hundred and fifty Naira (N2,943,250.00) which she confessed to have stolen from the victim.

“The suspect at the point of arrest was making arrangements to change the ownership of the 4Matic car of the deceased to her personal property.”
The command’s spokesman further stated that the Commissioner of Police has ordered a transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet investigation while warning members of the public to be vigilant and be careful of the company they keep.

Nobody demanded for a kobo from Abbas Hushpuppi. Our focus was to Save people’s lives that were purported to have been threatened.

Later, he saw some of my Native Clothes and Caps on my social media page and he said he likes them and he was connected to the person selling the clothes and he sent about N300k directly to the person’s account. The Native Clothes and Caps (5 sets) were brought to our office and He sent somebody to Collect them in our office.

Hushpuppi and Abba Kyari

Nobody demanded any money from Abbas Hushpuppi and nobody collected any money from him. We responded to a distress call he made on threat to his family and released the Suspect when we discovered there was no life threat from the Suspect. This is the true story. The Four-Gate’ Cotonou Prison Where Igboho Will Be Held For Weeks

Sunday Adeyemo, Yoruba nation activist popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been transferred to the Cotonou Civil Prison, TheCable has learnt. The facility known to locals as Prison Civile de Cotonou is a heavily guarded place with tall walls, barbed wires, and firm steel frames for gates.

The north side of the prison is connected to the office of the special team of the country’s national police known as Police républicaine du Bénin. When TheCable visited, our reporter learnt there were four gates every visitor is expected to go through before seeing any detainees. After a 13-hour hearing on Monday, the court ruled that Igboho be sent to pre-trial detention pending the conclusion of an investigation by the state. This forestalls the possibility of immediate extradition to Nigeria, where he is wanted for arms trafficking, inciting violence and a call for secession.

Igboho and his lawyers had denied all these allegations until the fresh charges bordering on illegal entry and criminal association was presented before the third judge in court on Monday. The case between Igboho and the government of Benin Republic has lead to his transfer from Brigade économique et financière (BEF) to Prison Civile de Cotonou.

Igboho’s lawyers say they will request bail, and re-present their client in court any time he is needed. But sources familiar with the matter told TheCable that Igboho is unlikely to be released on bail considering the political interests involved in his case.

According to one of his lawyers, quoted by BBC, Igboho might be held here for three to four weeks pending the investigation.

More Voices Being Raised About Reuben Abati (AKPATI) And His 30 Shekels Of Silver

Indeed the ARISE TELEVISION POLITICAL APPOINTEE HAS TAKEN HIS MADNESS AND NAKEDNESS TO THE OPEN MARKET SQUARE:Reuben Abati And His 30 Shekels Of Silver.July 24, 2021.Mr. Reuben Abati loves money, and you will see the evidence before the end of this essay.

His recent attempt to link the struggles of the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for self-determination to drug trafficking should not go unanswered, as people like Mr. Abati are ever ready to carry out the dirty deeds of corrupt and repressive regimes for a dirty sack of money.

Additionally, the Ooni of Ife might be exposing himself to grave danger by including Mr. Abati’s name on the list of Yoruba think tank who will negotiate Sunday Igboho’s fate with Buhari’s junta. We will explain this in detail below. This essay is not an attack on Reuben Abati, for he has many vulnerabilities. Rather, it is an expose on a man who rose from humble beginnings to become the prince of brown envelope syndrome in Nigeria. For non-Nigerian readers, brown envelope syndrome is the art of bribing journalists in Nigeria with money, stashed in big brown envelopes, for the purpose of buying their silence and killing their stories. Before his recent metamorphosis, Mr. Abati was a scrappy journalist at the Guardian newspaper in Nigeria where he wrote ceaselessly on the ills of the Nigerian society.

If you read his weekly diatribes before 2014, you would think that this man was so pure and upright that the translucent blood of angels flowed in his veins. His strident, tortured, cacophonic notes reached a dizzying crescendo during the term of President Goodluck Jonathan, whom he savaged daily on the pages of Nigerian newspapers, not because Jonathan was a bad leader, but because Mr. Jonathan hailed from the South-South ethnic minority region of Nigeria. To bigots like Mr. Abati, President Jonathan had no business running the affairs of Nigeria.

Thus, Mr. Abati swore that Mr. Jonathan must be disgraced out of office and his wife called unprintable names on the pages of Guardian newspaper. Then one day, President Jonathan, in his quiet manner, threw Mr. Abati a fat, juicy bone that he could not refuse! He invited Mr. Abati into his administration to serve as his special media adviser.

That singular masterstroke ended the career of the fire-spitting, restless Abati as a bona fide journalist. In one split second, Mr. Abati went from Jonathan’s greatest attacker to Jonathan’s meek and lowly errand boy as he groveled and salivated at the foot of Jonathan while scurrying around for favors at the presidential palace.

But there was a darker side to Abati’s metamorphosis. In a bid to show Jonathan that he was a faithful servant, he became the brown envelope merchant of the Federal government of Nigeria.

He set out with gusto to catch and kill any unpalatable stories about his turncoat era as a sycophantic journalist who has sold out his noble profession! He spent his time distributing money in brown envelopes to members of the Nigerian media who had anything unpalatable to write about him or Jonathan’s government.

He even went as far as offering bribes to Nigerian journalists overseas to induce them to write pleasant stories about his role in the administration. But something more damaging happened to Mr. Abati’s soul. With millions of dollars at his disposal, he became brazenly corrupt.

The lion’s share of the money for silencing fellow journalists began to make their way into his wallet. His intellectual sharpness dwindled, his judgement turned erratic, and his ability to write forcefully with great flourish vanished into the winds. He became a Samson without his hair.

And he became bitter because deep down he knew that he had sold his intellectual gift for dirty lucre. In his bitterness, he metamorphosed into a Nigerian version of Judas Iscariot and was secretly baying for the blood of his master. In 2015, Mr. Abati betrayed his master! In a last-minute bid to corral votes from the Southwestern geopolitical region of the country, where Mr. Abati hailed from, President Jonathan gave Mr. Abati the keys to the campaign war chest so he could run the table in the Southwest by setting the famed Yoruba amala politics on the overdrive.

This meant that Mr. Abati had the carte blache to buy up all votes in Southwestern Nigeria and sweep Jonathan to a decisive victory. President Jonathan placed all hopes on Mr. Abati to deliver. But Mr. Abati turned on him, pocketed the millions of campaign dollars, and worked secretly with Buhari’s campaign as an embedded spy to deliver a sinister coup de grace on poor President Jonathan. Mr. Jonathan lost the election and Mr. Abati fled Aso Rock with his millions, but never recovered his intellectual edge.

Since 2015, Mr. Abati has been searching for relevance as a journalist, a profession he can no longer grasp, as he had sold his soul to his Fulani master, Buhari. His essays are now infrequent, bland, dull, and unreadable as he has lost his grip on the righteous indignation that propelled him to dizzying heights at the Guardian. Everyone knows that Mr. Abati is living on stolen Nigerian wealth, and people who live on stolen Nigerian money are always restless.

But Mr. Abati’s restlessness has risen sharply as his stolen money is now running out and he needs to refill his coffers. It is possible that the current dictator of Nigeria, Buhari, who used Mr. Abati to scuttle Jonathan’s chances for electoral victory in Southwest has now found a new use for Mr. Abati’s restless soul: employ him as an agent of disinformation against the struggles of the IPOB. But IPOB will match him pen for pen, word for word, paragraph for paragraph, and expose him for what he is: a fraud.Along the same line, the Ooni of Ife, who recently added Mr. Abati’s name to the list of Yoruba think tank who will meet with the Buhari junta over Mr. Sunday Igboho’s fate, and the future of the greater Yoruba race, should know that Mr. Abati will be wearing a wire at all their meetings and will be transmitting every deliberation at the meeting to Aso Rock in real time! My prediction is that before the end of this year Mr.

Abati will deliver the Ooni and the other Yoruba leaders to his Fulani masters on a platter, pocket his dirty millions, and go looking for other paymasters. In the end, this is sad, short history of Mr. Reuben Abati, a once-gifted journalist, who sold his birthright for a plate of porridge, and now wanders the wilderness like a lost soul, looking for a master that will throw him a fat, bloodstained, fresh, juicy bone!

Nnamdi Kanu: A metaphor for political exclusion, marginalization —Catholic Bishops

Bishops of the Catholic Ecclesiastical Province of Owerri, Imo State, have described leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as a metaphor for political exclusion and marginalisation

Meanwhile, as the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, today resumes the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has cautioned against any form of intimidation, oppression and arrest of members of the Biafra separatist group or their sympathizers.

Also, special counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, Mr Aloy Ejimakor has advised security agents not to restrict or molest Kanu’s supporters expected to throng the Federal High Court, Abuja, today in a show of solidarity as Kanu’s trial resumes.

The Bishops, meanwhile, also advised the Federal Government to handle the growing issue of agitation with care, because the world is keenly watching the happenings.

A communiqué at the end of their meeting at Ahiara, Mbaise, Imo State by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, Chairman, and Most Rev. Augustine Echema, Secretary, said: “His (Kanu) recent arrest is an opportunity for the government to initiate dialogues on the issues of justice, equity and fairness that underpin the agitation of his group and the agitation of other groups, like the one led by Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Igboho, for the Yoruba nation, calling for self-determination and restructuring.

“It is worthy of note that the re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, will not end such agitations. The mismanagement of his case and any other will trigger avoidable unrest.

“We wish to state that the world is watching how the Federal Government is handling the case of the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, who stands as a metaphor for political exclusion and marginalization.

“The government will be enhancing security and peace by facilitating youth empowerment, ensuring regular payment of salaries and pensions, and putting in place basic physical and social infrastructures. When most of the people in society fall below the poverty index, tensions, conflicts and restiveness are bound to arise.

“Likewise, when the will of the electorate is frustrated through rigged elections, violence naturally erupts. We, therefore, state loud and clear that by passing a bill recently against the transmission of the results of elections by electronic means, both chambers of the National Assembly have created room for the manipulation of electoral votes and laid the foundation for bloody conflicts in the future general elections.”

Addressing the issue of freedom of expression, which the Bishops termed “indispensable element of a true democracy”, the clerics said: “The media, whether electronic, print or the modern social communication technologies like the social media are important tools for freedom of expression.”

Further, they said: “However, abuse does not destroy us. The media remain the Fourth Estate of the Realm and an indispensable element of a true and peaceful democracy. We are aware of the anxiety that led the government to propose two Bills before the National Assembly: the Nigerian Press Council Bill and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission Bill.

“Without being preemptive, it is apposite to remind the National Assembly that the right to freedom of the press and the right to freedom of expression, are primary constituents of the Bill of Human Rights. Access to information, feedback to the government and accountability by the government, are strengthened by the Independence of the media, and the right to exercise the freedom of expression and information. Nothing should be done to stifle these freedoms.”

They noted that the responsible exercise of freedom of information and expression means that the media should be used with caution and maturity.

In a statement, yesterday, by Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said: “We have been informed that there will be attempts to resist the massive crowd that will flood the court to witness the trial.

“We also wish to categorically warn that at no time had the two apex organs in Ohanaeze Ndigbo; “Ime Obi and General Assembly”, authorized anyone to act on behalf of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, either to observe or interfere and infiltrate in the legal proceedings and retrial of Nnamdi Kanu. Anyone who is harmed while on such an evil voyage by angry IPOB members will have himself or herself to blame.

“We are calling for the quick political intervention of South-East Governors and Igbo politicians to persuade President Muhammadu Buhari to an out-of-court settlement in the court case of Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB members should desist from any form of protest as such will jeopardize the backstage activities to give Nnamdi Kanu a soft landing.

“There is no doubt that any protest would expose the lives of IPOB members to danger as security agents have been positioned to ruthlessly deal with any Biafra agitators on protests. We also have it on credible information that some shameless Igbo elders have been sponsored on a legal jamboree by a certain Fulani billionaire to legitimize Nnamdi Kanu’s abduction. The affected leaders must desist from the legal jamboree or face our wrath.”

Ejimakor in a statement, yesterday, said that Kanu’s trial is an open trial and not a secret one and since Kanu is presumed innocent until proven guilty, anyone wishing to be associated with his trial by being present in Abuja is protected by his Constitutional right to freedom of association and movement.

“So, my message to all supporters of Kanu and even to Nigerian government is simple and that is: Everybody should be strictly guided by the rule of law pertinent to why Nnamdi Kanu is facing these tribulations and trials.

“That pertinent rule of law is codified by CAP A9, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, where it is stated at Article 20 that: ‘All peoples shall have the right to existence. They shall have the unquestionable and inalienable right to self-determination. They shall freely determine their political status and shall pursue their economic and social development according to the policy they have freely chosen.

“I am saying this because the same law that legalizes self-determination also requires the government to accommodate it. Article 1 of that Law provides that Nigeria ‘shall recognise the rights, duties and freedoms enshrined in the Charter and shall undertake to adopt legislative or other measures to give effect to them.’

“Further, subjecting Kanu to any trial under the circumstances of his extraordinary rendition will face lots of legal challenges. So, what is expected on Monday is not a trial but what lawyers call ‘taking a plea’ or a re-arraignment on the amended Charges that might be brought.

“Should that happen, the procedure permits taking an adjournment to study the new charges to advise the defendant on the next steps. So, there’s nothing significant that will happen on Monday that warrants anybody, including the government, to be jittery,” Ejimakor said.

Tight Security, As DSS Denies Journalists Access To Cover Kanu’s Trial In Abuja High Court

There is heavy security presence at the Federal High Court in Abuja this morning, preparatory to the arrival of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, for continuation of his trial on treasonable felony charge.

Armed security operatives, mainly from the Department of State Services, DSS, have barricaded all access routes to the court premises which is beside the Federal Ministry of Justice.

As early as 6am when this reporter arrived at the court, armed DSS operatives, some on motorbikes, were already stationed at strategic locations within the perimeters of the court.

The operatives blatantly refused to allow this reporter access to the court premises, insisting that only media outlets in a list that was handed to them, would be allowed to enter the court premises.

Meanwhile, though the Chief Information Officer of the Court, Mrs. Christopher was already on ground as early as 6am, her spirited effort to secure a pass for this reporter proved abortive, as DSS officials insisted they must get clearance from their boss before allowing anyone outside the list to gain access into the court.

As at the time of filing this report, this reporter had yet to gain access into the court.

It will be recalled that Kanu was on June 20, returned back to the country for continuation of his trial, after he was reportedly arrested in Kenya.

He was subsequently docked before trial Justice Binta Nyako on June 29 and was remanded in custody of the DSS till today when his trial will resume.

There are strong indications that the Federal Government may likely file an amended charge against him today.

FG had in the charge already pending before the court, alleged that Kanu imported Radio transmitter known as TRAM 50L, which was concealed in a container that was declared as used household items, for the purpose of using same to disseminate information about secession plans by the IPOB.

It alleged that Kanu, “on or about the 28th April, 2015 in London, United Kingdom did in a broadcast on Radio Biafra monitored in Enugu, Enugu state and other parts of Nigeria within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, referred to Major General Muhammadu Buhari, GCON, President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a paedophile,

a terrorist, an idiot and an embodiment of evil, knowing same to be false and you thereby committed an offence contrary to section 375 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C. 38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004”.

He was alleged to have committed treasonable felony, an offence punishable under Section 41(C) of the Criminal Code Act, CAP C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

FG alleged that Kanu and the other pro-Biafra agitators were the ones managing the affairs of the IPOB which it described as “an unlawful society”.

Kanu was alleged to have illegally smuggled radio transmitters into Nigeria, which he used to disseminate “hate broadcasts”, encouraging the “secession of the Republic of Biafra”, from Nigeria.

Those Comparison Of Banker AIG Imokhede And That Of Obi Cubana’ Mothers’s Burials

If we are in a normal society or functional nation, more than half of those present in that burial of AIG IMOKHUEDE mother’s burial shall be either in prison or dead depending on which country, and what their laws say about economic sabotage and institutional corruption.

Is Jacob Zuma of South Africa not in Prison as we speak? Are those that gathered at Imokhuede mother’s burial including former heads of state and captains of industries, general overseers and more better? No they are not.

But they are in a country where anything goes. Dishonorable people are addressed as honorables and Excellencies even while all the Misnomer and titular nomenclature are not supported by their actions and report cards.

So What we have is some kind of moral relativism. Some sins and behavior are excused and rationalized because of how it is packaged and those involved in them.

Am not applauding senseless display as we saw it. But are those guys not in to showbiz? What are people expecting; some kind of Bishop Catholic mass and then people will go home?

The people that gathered for the Imokhuede burial read like who is who in ruining this country down.
Those in the banking industry would’ve been the first to be arrested for the deeply embedded financial malfeasance they engage-in in this country.

For the avoidance of doubt, go and read the Arthur Nwankwo independent Acounting report . A forensic accounting firm on the former Governor Rochas years in the office and see the role played by some of those Bank CEOs in fleecing of Imo state and impoverishing the people.

It is not only in Imo, dig deeper and you will discover that the stealing and all manners of corruption in high places will never have been possible without those gathered at that burial, yet someone is using them as a reference point.
Enough of all these lamentations and comparing apples and oranges.

As a matter of fact , when it comes to show off, the Igbos are just learners ok. I grew up in Lagos. We know how it goes down in the West. But that’s a different story.

And by the way; while some busy bodies are preoccupied with what happened in Oba Anambra state, how come they’ve deliberately eschewed the unintended implications of that outing.

Some of us seem to forget that just less than 6 weeks ago the entire *South East was portrayed as a no go area war zone.* People were advised to take flight away from the SouthEast. The entire region was completely de-marketed even by our people who are completely oblivious or ignorant of the financial and economic implications of their careless utterances and spread of bad news. Owerri, Awka, Abakaliki, Enugu and other parts of SouthEast were all experiencing increasing activities in the real estate and property industry. The AKURUE’UNO mantra was beginning to catch fire and resonate. But suddenly the brief security crises created crises of confidence and the Igbos contemplating investing home slammed emergency brakes on their investment in the SouthEast.

But guess what?
The Obi Cubana of Oba Anambra state outing has completely changed that orchestrated de-marketing of the region.
Alaigbo is not the war zone and dangerous place they over hyped on the media afterall. The huge outing that attracted people from all over the world as it held all spellbound went on and ended hitch free. No single report of kidnapping, no robbery, no UGM, no nothing that we’ve heard of🤷🏾‍♂ . Simply amazing isn’t it?

And what does that say to the whole world about the region apart from the curiosity about Alaigbo and Oba in particular? what it said is essentially that Alaigbo is safe and life is going on despite the brief invasion and tactical seige by the authorities. It said to the world that nothing thrown at this resilient people shall prosper.

What’s more? The business aspect of the outing is beginning to unravel. *All maners of deals are coming in. He might as well turn out to being the biggest brand Ambassador that nearly all major brands might like to partner with to reach the huge targeted lucrative audience.*

So let’s pause for a moment when we start buying into all these negative obsession with anything Igbo good or bad.

Nobody; no one from any of the other rival ethnic groups have the moral authority or the slightest justification to point at Ndigbo as the rest of the other four fingers are pointing at them.
Ndigbo are not perfect, but who is or which groups are🤷🏾‍♂? I don’t see them.

Not when some of these people cannot even dare step foot in their home land or villages. But if any one of them from whatever tribe believe that they are anywhere near utopia, let them ask for open debate before any audience and we shall seamlessly remind them, that besides propaganda and malicious targeting of a particular people, we know who we are and how we are situated both from the historical perspective and empirical facts they pretend not to see.

Imo House Of Assembly: Speaker Have Not Allowed Me To Speak On The Floor Of The House Since He Removed Me As Majority Leader -Uche Ogbuagu

By Onyekachi Eze

Following the shocking suspension of six members of the Imo State House of Assembly last week Thursday by the Leadership of the House, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu representing Ikeduru State Constituency has opened can of worms.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem had during the plenary session of July 8, 2021 suspended the following members for what he termed, “unparliamentary conduct”.

They are; Honorables; Dominic Ezerioha (Oru West), Kennedy Ibeh (Obowo), Philip Ejiogu (Owerri North), Uche Ogbuagu (Ikeduru), Michael Onyemaechi Njoku (Ihitte/Uboma), Anyadike Nwosu (Ezinihitte Mbaise).

The development, Trumpeta Assembly Vibes observed has sparked off worry among political pundits and affected LGAs.

However, the Ikeduru Legislator has taken time to reveal his ordeals in the House since after his removal from the Majority Leader position.

In a media release signed by Hon. Uche Ogbuagu, obtained by this Newspaper, he revealed that since after his removal as Majority Leader, the Speaker has been disapproving all his motions and petitions coming to the Chambers.

Ogbuagu further explained that among all the Lawmakers, he is the only one without any Committee assigned to him by Speaker Paul Emeziem.

Also, he said that he was never been given the opportunity to speak on the floor of the House, yet, he remained committed to the Legislative tenets, with the sole aim of representing Ikeduru people effectively.

Briefing his constituents through the press release, Hon. Ogbuagu said, “As your Legislator in the State Assembly, I have not ceased to exercise my responsibility in defending and pleading the Ikeduru course at the hallowed chambers during each plenary. The volume of work I have done legislatively, my oversight functions, coupled with the projects sited across Ikeduru has clearly shown that my being voted into office has been justified up to a reasonable extent that even my critics can attest to this fact”.

“It still beats my imagination the reasons adduced for labeling my representation as un-parliamentary conduct;

“Since my inauguration on June 13, 2019, by the Grace of God, I have executed 54 people oriented verifiable projects across Ikeduru and our neighbouring Mbaitoli;

“I was elected as Majority Leader in March 2020. I held this position and discharged my duties creditably. Even at my unceremonial removal the year after, by Speaker Paul Emeziem, no reason has been given for that action till date, yet I did not allow it to derail my spirit or affect my legislative assignments”.

The Ikeduru Lawmaker reiterated that on that fateful Thursday inside the Chambers, he neither opened his mouth, nor raised his hands until his name appeared as the fourth person in the suspension list of the Speaker.

He re-echoed that he has not done any wrong, legislatively, stressing that he won’t be deterred in exercising to the fullest, the mandate legitimately given to him by the Ikeduru people.

Part of the release further stated:

“It remains a mystery to me, so I considered it wise to let my Ikeduru people know the true position, while we look forward to hearing from Speaker Paul Emeziem to expatiate on what he meant by un-parliamentary conduct in line with the relevant sections of the Federal constitution of Nigeria and Imo Legislative Assembly Rules;

“I am a bold, audacious and courageous Ikeduruan who knows that even at the National level, our LGA has notable and responsible people in politics, some dead and many alive;

“I owe it to you, a responsibility to render to you, a sterling representation which will, in turn, bring developmental projects as never seen before in Ikeduru as envy, avarice, hatred, gagging, blackmail and calumny will never deter me, I promise”.

ARISE TELEVISION: MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MORNING SHOW. Rufai Vs. Rueben Abatti

It has become increasingly Obvious that Rueben Abatti in his excessive hubris has exuded either deliberate ignorance to appear politically correct on issues or he’s simply there on the Morning Show to spin glaring empirical facts out of control.

Mr. Abatti appears selectively malicious in his commentaries (in which case he’s deeply compromised like so many in this country) or he simply lack the deep competence and knowledge convergence of the issues as the much Younger Rufai does.

Recall he was one of those that deliberately de-marketed the SouthEast region by painting the impression of full blown war in the region in clear deception of the listening audience.
Before the dust will settle on that; the same Rueben Abatti deliberately and repeatedly used the word: EXTRADITION instead of ABDUCTION in the controversial case of Nnamdi Kanu. Abatti cannot claim ignorance when he exudes this air of erudite fellow on television.

Listening to Rueben Abatti often leaves many with that visceral feelings of everything wrong with the Nigerian society. People often goaded by Moral relativism and hypocritical dispositions.

He nearly always engages in “judging unequal causes equally” which is infact, another form of injustice, all in his struggle to give impression of fair and balanced presentation on the show.

But then, listen to the much Younger, vibrant and better informed Rufai as he comes on and simply lift the smoke screen and contradictions created by Mr. Abatti. Rufai simply calls a spade a spade. He has the right sense of balance. He speaks the minds of the people because he’s indeed one of the people. He has deep sense of empathy and the empirical experience as ordinary Nigerian. That’s what shapes his views and drives his opinion every single day on the Morning show.

Let’s not Forget that Rueben Abatti was, and still remains an integral part of the political class that is responsible for the rot and ruin that Nigeria has become. He was part of the previous administration that was replaced by the current administration. It is still a truism that *you can’t teach an old dog a new trick*

So it is only natural that he will carefully defend the constituency that he belongs to (the very corrupt and ineffective political class that cut across all regions and ethnic groups).

Rueben Abatti shouldn’t be on television in my personal opinion. He should go back and do what his other fellow politicians have done:*defect* to the ruling party; APC and then from there join the team of Garba Shehu and Lai Mohammed. Afterall he’s no better than anyone of them in defending the indefensible and the status quo.

I suggest you shouldn’t take my words for it; listen to him over a period of time and you will see how he brilliantly attempts to disguise his ethnic jingoism and prejudices. His body language and utterances gives him away. One minute he’s visibly angry about the actions of the government towards Sunday Igboho, the next minute he’s speaking from both sides of his mouth about Nnamdi Kanu.

Yes, Rueben Abatti has the right to his opinion, prejudices and what have you, but he need to keep it out of the television network like ARISE, otherwise the network will suffer huge brand erosion just like others that have gone down as the extension of Lai Mohammed ministry of information or rather misinformation.

But hey! His position on arise is afterall, like a political appointment unlike Rufai and other Younger TV personalities on Arise, and guess what? Abatti is doing a great job in his new appointment on ARISE TELEVISION.

It was said that their suspension was on gross misconduct (conducting themselves in an unparliamentary manner), Further investigation reveals that what triggered the fire when the suspended members asked the speaker about their constituency allowance which has not been given to them since they were sworn in as members two years ago.

They were not asking for the money to been given to them at hand, rather the government should use the said money to work in their various constituencies which were their statutory right enshrined in the Constitution.

Remember it was based on this constituency allowance that these honorable members campaigned to their wards and communities on what they will do for them. Gisthub24 also gathered that the Speaker was smuggled out of the chambers when gunshots were heard.

Also Hon. Arthur Egwim member representing Ideato North Constituency has been Removed As the Chief Whip of the House And was Immediately Replaced With Rt Hon Obinna Opara Of Nkwerre Constituency.

Assassinated in front of his 7-year-old son.

Suspected assassins, on Sunday night, July 4, killed this Enugu business man, Ifeanyi Okeke, in front of his 7-year-old son (who he had gone to pick from a barbing salon.)

Okeke, Chief Executive Officer of AutoEase Services, Enugu, was driving back to his Independence Layout residence when killers hit his car from behind.

He came out to investigate what transpired, and they ordered him to lie down on the floor, then shot him severally on the leg and stomach.

He was confirmed dead in a hospital he was rushed to.

Police has launched a manhunt for the assassins, but will Okeke’s killers ever be found amidst so many unresolved killings in Nigeria?

Could they be assassins? Or was he a random victim?

Chai, his son would be traumatized for life.

Sunday Igboho Declared Wanted By DSS As Ak-47 Riffles Were Recovered From Raid In His House

In the early hours (about 0134 hours) of today, 1st July, 2021, a joint team of security operatives raided the residence of Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo a.k.a. SUNDAY IGBOHO at Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State. This was based on intelligence that he had stockpiled arms in the place. On approach to the residence, the team came under heavy gun attack by nine (9) men, suspected to be IGBOHO’s guards. Six (6) of them were armed with AK-47 gun and Three (3) others, with Pump-Action riffles.

In the course of the exchange, two (2) of IGBOHO’s armed men were gunned down while the rest were subdued and arrested. Only one operative who was shot by the assailants on his right hand sustained injury. He has however received medical attention and is very stable.

Afterwards, the team procedurally searched the house and subsequently recovered the following among others:
i. Seven (7) AK-47 assault rifles;
ii. Three (3) Pump Action guns;

vii. Ayobami DONALD
viii. Adelabe USMAN
ix. Oluwafelumi KUNLE
x. Raji KAZEEM
xi. Taiwo OPEYEMI and
xii. Bamidele SUNDAY.

Highlights of this brief are to:
i. Inform Nigerians and the world that Sunday IGBOHO and his group, in the guise of campaign for self-determination, have become well-armed and determined to undermine public order. This, the arrests and seizures are, no doubt, a confirmation of a grand plan by IGBOHO and his cohorts to wage a violent insurrection against the Nigerian State.

ii. Alert foreign missions and licencing authorities within and outside Nigeria about this development and the possibility that IGBOHO could declare some of his personal permit and identity cards missing in order to seek their replacement.
iii. Apprise stakeholders that the Five (5) AK-47 assault rifles recovered from the building are suspected to be those collected by IGBOHO’s men from Nigerian Customs and Immigration personnel at Idi Iroko, Ogun State.

The gun duel which lasted for an hour offered IGBOHO the chance to escape. Sunday ADEYEMO a.k.a Sunday IGBOHO is now on the run. IGBOHO may run as far as he can. He may hide as long as he wants. He might have attacked security operatives as his strength carried him. But this will be the end of his shenanigans. Soon, he will not have a hiding place. His strength will sure fail him. And the law will catch up with him. The law may be slow. But it will be steady.

Consequently, ADEYEMO/IGBOHO is advised to turn himself in to the nearest security agency. Those cheering and eulogising him may appeal to or advise him to do the needful. He should surrender himself to the appropriate authorities. He or anyone can never be above the law. Meanwhile, those arrested will be charged accordingly.
