William Tyndale, The Man Who Translated The Bible Into English And Was Burnt Alive At The Ridiculous Young Age Of 42 Years Old, For His Efforts.

(Google Foxe’s book of Martyrs.)

Nearly 500 years ago, this week, William Tyndale, fondly called ‘Father of the English Bible’ was strangled and burned at the stake after being tried and convicted of heresy and reason for translating the Bible into English.

HIS OFFENSE!
He translated the Greek Bible into English.

That you have a Bible in a language you can read is largely due to his labours, and many of the very phrases you read in it retain the flavour of his understanding of the Greek and Hebrew.

A graduate of Oxford and Cambridge, Tyndale had a powerful desire to make the Bible available even to the common people in England, in order to correct the ‘Biblical ignorance of the priests.’ At one point Tyndale told a priest, “If God spares my life,

are many years pass, I will cause a boy that driveth the plow, shall know more of the Scriptures than thou dost.”

Today, 90% of the King James Version of the Holy Bible and 75% of the Revised Standard Version are from the translation made by Tyndale, a man to whom you owe more than you’ll ever know.

A nice dream, but how was Tyndale to accomplish his task, when translating the Bible into English was ILLEGAL at the time?’

He went to London to ask Bishop Tunstall if he could be authorised to make an English translation of the Bible, but the Bishop would not grant his approval.

However, Tyndale would not let the disapproval of men stop him from carrying out what seemed so obviously God’s will. With encouragement and support of some British merchants, he decided to go to Europe to complete his translation, then have it printed and smuggled back into England.

In 1524 Tyndale sailed for Germany. In Hamburg, he worked on the New Testament, and in Cologne, he found a printer who would print the work. However, news of Tyndale’s activity came to an opponent of the Reformation who had the press raided.

Tyndale himself managed to escape with the pages already printed and made his way to the German city Worms where the New Testament was soon published.

Six thousand copies were printed and smuggled into England.

The Bishops did everything they could to eradicate the Bibles. Bishop Tunstall had copies ceremoniously burned at St. Paul’s; the Archbishop of Canterbury bought up copies to destroy them. Tyndale used the money to print improved editions!

Tyndale continued hiding among the merchants in Antwerp and began translating the Old Testament while the King’s agents searched all over England and Europe for him.

A copy of Tyndale’s “The Obedience of a Christian Man” fell into the hands of Henry VIII, providing the king with the rationale to break the Church in England from the Roman Catholic Church in 1534.
In 1535, Tyndale was arrested and jailed in the castle of Vilvoorde (Filford) outside Brussels for over a year.

Tyndale’s work was denounced by authorities of the Roman Catholic Church and Tyndale himself was accused of heresy.

Tyndale, 42 was finally found by an Englishman who pretended to be his friend but then turned him over to the authorities. After a year and a half in prison, he was brought to trial for heresy — FOR BELIEVING, among other things, IN THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS and that THE MERCY OFFERED IN THE GOSPEL WAS ENOUGH FOR SALVATION. In August 1536, he was condemned and was executed [burned alive at the stake] publicly on October 6, 1536, in a small town in Belgium.

As he burnt to death, Tyndale reportedly said “Lord, open the king of England’s eyes.”

WAS HIS PRAYER ANSWERED?

YES! The prayer was answered first in part when three years later, in 1539, Henry VIII required every parish church in England to make a copy of the English Bible available to its parishioners. Today, Tyndale’s prayer is fully answered, not only are the King’s eyes opened, but the Bible a universal instrument.

* In 1611, the 54 scholars who produced the King James Bible drew significantly from Tyndale, as well as from translations that descended from his.

* In 2002, Tyndale was placed at number 26 in the BBC’s poll of the 100 Greatest Britons; but in heaven he surely would be before the preceding 25.

A very important and interesting piece of history worth knowing and appreciating by all believers.
And may it *challenge* us to spend quality time in this same glorious book that this great servant literally gave his life for.

Today it’s hard to imagine the world without an English Bible, and there could now be as many as 900 of such translations in existence – but before Tyndale it had never happened. He’s known as the Father of the English Bible, since the later, epochal work of the King James Version of the Bible largely consisted of Tyndale’s scholarly and accessible translations.

The English language, as with scholarly understanding, continues to evolve – and so the work of Bible translation continues today.

But without the courage and genius of men like Tyndale, who challenged the status quo before them and died for doing so, it might never have been possible.

IPOB Denies Killing Akunyili, Distances Self From Senseless Murders In South-East

The Indigenous People of Biafra, on Wednesday, distanced themselves from the ‘senseless’ killings in the South-East geopolitical zone of the country.
This is as the group claimed that the ‘senseless’ killings were politically motivated, stating that masterminds were taking advantage of the current situation in the region to unleash mayhem on their political opponents.
The group also noted that it did not at any point issue a statement on the forthcoming governorship elections in Anambra State, to the effect, that the election will not hold.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the secessionist group, Emma Powerful, aired the group’s view in a statement, on Wednesday, which was made available to The PUNCH.

The statement read in part, “We the great family of the Indigenous People of Biafra ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukkwu Kanu, wish to dissociate ourselves from the senseless killing of innocent citizens in Anambra State.

We have no hands in the political killings going on in Biafra land. We have at several times raised the alarm that some cruel politicians are hiding under the cloak of the situation in Biafra land to eliminate their political enemies and blame it on IPOB.
“We also wish to clarify that IPOB has never issued an official statement that there would be no governorship election in Anambra State.

Those peddling such rumour are not our members and should be ignored. Our position on the Anambra election will be made public at the right time through our normal channels of information dissemination. Anything to the contrary should be disregarded.
IPOB further claimed that those who killed Prof Dora Akunyili were responsible for the death of her husband.
“Those who killed Dora Akunyili husband killed his wife with poison because she exposed the death Yaradua for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to take over as President of Nigeria, they know themselves they conspired to poison Prof. Dora Akunyili.”
It added, “We have no issues with Chike Akunyili and we don’t know him, those behind this act must stop this and stop using IPOB’s name, we don’t want anybody to blame IPOB because we must get them, this is purely a political assassination going on in Anambra State now.

“It is obvious that those that burnt Anambra Government House and other parts of the state some years back are back to use intimidations and killings to subdue their opponents ahead of the governorship election in Anambra State.”

Late NAFDAC DG Dora Akunyili’s Husband Chike, Seven Others Killed In Anambra.

Dr. Chike Akunyili, widower of the late Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Dora Akunyili, has been killed by gunmen at Nkpor, in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Seven other persons were also killed in the incident, yet-to-be-confirmed reports allege.
The incident reportedly happened on Monday evening.
Our correspondent gathered that Dr. Akunyili was returning from a trip to Onitsha, where he had gone to obtain a posthumous award of excellence for his late wife, when he ran into the hoodlums at Nkpor and was shot and killed.

The hoodlums, it was gathered, were chanting, “No election in Anambra in November.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, could not confirm the report, noting that he had yet to get details of the incident.
Our correspondent reports that the Agulu community, where the Akunyilis hailed from, is mourning; adding, however, that, “Nobody is ready to talk to the Press.”
A former vice-president of Agulu community, who is also a retired Information Officer with the Federal Ministry of Information, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, but asked for publication to be delayed without giving reasons.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Information also confirmed the incident but asked to be given time to obtain clearance to discuss the issue.

Ebonyi Widow Laments Son’s Killing By Police, Demands Corpse

A widow at Ndiechi village, Igbeagu community, in the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Mrs Maria Urehu, has asked the police to release the corpse of her son, Edwin Urehu, for burial or free him if he is still alive.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Edwin was shot on June 9, 2021 when security operatives invaded their compound.
His sister, Chiamaka, was also shot in the laps and her hand was broken by the operatives, who were suspected to be policemen from the state command.
The victims’ mother accused a policeman attached to the command, Sani Bala, of leading the attack.
The 65-year-old farmer described Edwin as the breadwinner of the family and called on the police to release him dead or alive.
She said, “My son was the one taking care of me and his only sister. He started taking care of us at a young age my husband died. He was the one feeding us; he never engaged in any criminal act.

“On that morning, we heard heavy gunshots in our compound before they broke into our house and shot my son, who was sleeping. His friend, who visited him and was also sleeping in the same room with him, was not shot or touched by the policemen. After shooting my son, they went to my daughter’s room and shot her in the laps. When I came out to ask what the problem was, they forced me to lie on the floor where my son was shot.
“Let them release my son’s corpse to me if he was killed or release him alive if he is still alive because since that June that they shot him, I have not set my eyes on him. I want my son’s corpse to be released so that he will be buried in his father’s compound. They didn’t tell me what my son did that made them shoot him.”
Chiamaka, 18, said the incident happened around 5am.
She said, “My mum and I were praying that time and I stood up to see what was happening. One of them peeped through the window and shot me in the laps. I told my mum that the policemen had shot me in the laps.
“The policemen ordered my brother’s friend to carry him after they shot him; they took him into their vehicle. They took us to the police headquarters, Abakaliki.
“From there, they carried me into another vehicle. I asked them where my brother was and one of them told me to keep quiet or he would shoot me. They took me to a hospital, while my brother was lying inside the vehicle that carried us to the police headquarters.”
The Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission in the state, Mr Chris Okorie, vowed to petition the state Commissioner of Police over the matter.
The accused police officer, Bala, said he only assisted Chiamaka to the hospital for treatment.
He said, “I was not part of the team that went for the operation. I am just the Investigating Police Officer. I helped the little girl to receive medical treatment because I took her to the hospital.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Garba, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, denied the incident.
He said, “Such a thing did not happen. The woman in question should stop crying around and come to prove her allegations. The days when people will stay in the comfort of their rooms and fabricate lies are gone. Our job is to protect lives and property. How then can we be the ones to take such lives? This is a mere allegation and it is unfounded. We are not aware of this.”

Listen To Southern Kaduna On Killings, Shehu Sani Tells Buhari

FORMER lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber, Senator Shehu Sani, said to find solutions to the continued bloodshed in the southern part of Kaduna, the President, Major General Mohammdu Buhari (retd.), must listen to the people directly not by any political proxy.

Sani stated this on Tuesday at his official residence in Kaduna during a courtesy visit by the Southern Kaduna Youth Movement.

Sani stressed the need for the Federal Government to listen to the people of Southern Kaduna directly and not through any proxy or political leaders.
“I could not see any reason that President Buhari is in his sixth year and he could not see the need for one day to go to Kafanchan, sit down and listen to their problems and how to find solutions.
“President Buhari has lived in Kaduna for more than four decades more than he has lived in his home state, Katsina,” he said.
He added that President Buhari could also embrace the option of inviting their stakeholders to the Villa and discuss with them and find solutions to the bloodshed that had continued unabated.
“It is impossible for President Buhari to hear the truth and the reality of Southern Kaduna if such kind of message has to pass through political pipe before it got to him,” Shehu Sani said.

Tragedy: Dora Akunyili’s Husband Shot Dead By Unknown Gunmen In His Home State

Chike Akunyili, Dora’s husband shot dead by unknown gun men.

One by one, they keep picking out its targets, killing and showing no remorseful whatsoever. What will follow are expressions of “Shock” and vows of finding the killer, after which they will look for the next target to kill. To even think he came to Anambra to pickup an award for his wife and they ambushed him at Nkpor. This is so sad. We aren’t just losing sanity recently but humanity as well.

My condolences to the family of Akunyili’s. May his soul rest in peace.

Beautiful morning everyone and have a great day.

Senate President Lawan And Reporter’s Prejudice

In his feature of September 24, 2021, titled, ‘Absolute rubber stamp: Lawan-led Senate joins Buhari’s kitchen cabinet, leads Presidency Annex, rolls out bills of oppression against Nigerians,’ Sunday Aborisade apparently set the headline first and then went fishing for evidence that fit.
Of course, there is a background to this. I have been accosted on many occasions by some colleagues at the National Assembly complex with the joke that the Ninth Assembly that took off in 2019 has made their beat boring. They said, unlike before, there are no daily crises to report. No spectacles.

No brickbats flying out of the chambers in the direction of Aso Rock Villa. Such used to keep reporters busy and make the beat interesting. While I sympathise with such journalists, the job of the legislature in a democracy is much more serious than creating media spectacles. Apparently, those who see politics as a bloody sport will never believe a game is on until they can count the bodies.
Since the inauguration of the Ninth National Assembly, there have been criticisms of its relationship with the Executive arm of the government.

Some political commentators insist that parliament demonstrates independence and efficiency only by barking and sniping at the heels of the president, and being uncooperative with him on policies, appointments, and expenditure plans, etc. This, even if both sides were elected on the same political platform.
Let’s take another look at the headline of Aborisade’s report at issue here. The kicker sufficiently betrays the bias of the reporter. But that is not my concern, as democracy anticipates mischief sometimes joining the delegation of free speech.

My concern is to examine the issues Aborisade raised. He started his report by describing the tension in the chamber during the election of Lawan as the 14th President of the Senate as a sign that the ruling party had no confidence in its candidate winning. Does the writer really expect tension to be absent in an election of such magnitude?

In some parliaments, the officers are chosen by party caucuses and ratified in the chambers. But that has not been the case in the National Assembly since 1999.

Parties’ choices have been challenged by their members in parliament in almost every dispensation. And that has nothing to do with the mode of election. That Lawan got the endorsement of his party, and its Senate caucus does not mean the celebration of his victory could start before the election was called. So, whatever anxiety the writer noticed in the process was not a query of the party’s judgment.
The writer also declared that an “unholy alliance” between the Senate and the Executive has “done more damage than good to our country.” To the contrary, the cordial relationship between the two other arms of government has so far facilitated the legislative business of the Ninth Assembly.

I will cite a few examples of how this has happened. On assumption of office, Lawan took up the task to reset and stabilise the national budget cycle to January – December to make the fiscal calendar predictable. Not a few people thought it was a tall order. The sceptics had a genuine case: before Lawan, others had tried but failed. Now, it is a done deal, to the benefit of Nigerians and the economy.

The very significant Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract Act (Amendment) Bill 2019 was passed and the following week signed into law by the President. President Buhari had reasons to hold back his assent on the Petroleum Industry Bill. Instead, he decided to pursue an amendment to provisions of the PIA that he is not comfortable with, which he did just 36 days after assenting to the bill. There are many more such developments which can be attributed to the spirit of cooperation and collaboration between the two arms in the national interest.

Meanwhile, we have a record of the number of bills denied presidential assent in the previous dispensations because of distrust between the two sides. That is certainly not the kind of situation we want to perpetuate. If Nigerians elect the President and most lawmakers from the same party, they certainly expect them to work together for national development.

Aborisade also magisterially declared that the “Ninth Senate under Lawan rolled out the most wicked, draconian and anti-people bills since 1999.” His evidence? “The Social Media Bill, Hate Speech Bill, Amnesty for Repentant Terrorists Bill, the Health Emergency Bill.” Interestingly, Aborishade had in his report in same PUNCH newspaper dated February 18, 2021 described one of the bills being repealed and replaced as “the obsolete Quarantine Act enacted in 1926.” Besides, the report did not state when the “draconian” bills were passed by the Senate. The omission was deliberate. None of them has passed!
As the National Assembly correspondent of one of the nation’s major newspapers, I assume Aborisade knows the working of the Parliament and the stages involved in the lawmaking process. Any lawmaker can table a bill for consideration.

It is a privilege which cannot be denied even by the Senate President who is just first among equals. Senators at plenary, eventually, pass or reject a bill only after a public hearing where members of the public express their views on the proposed legislation. Was Aborisade saying the Senate President ought to have blocked his colleagues from proposing laws because he considers them “most wicked, draconian and anti-people”?
Perhaps, because of the obvious intention of the write-up, the writer did not remember any achievement of the Senate in the last two years.

He could not recall even the restoration of the budget cycle which he had praised in his own report. What about the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contact (Amendment) Act, 2019 that jacked up Nigeria’s share of its oil revenues from $150 million to $1.5 billion annually? The writer did not remember the Finance Act which specifically amended 17 other legislation to support key reforms in taxation, customs, excise, fiscal and other laws. He also completely forgot the fundamental amendment made to the Company and Allied Matters Act.

Or, the bill which criminalises sexual harassment in tertiary institutions in Nigeria and several others.
Before he became Senate President, Lawan had formed his opinion from more than two decades of being in the National Assembly on how the legislature should best relate with the other arms of government.

He believes that the benefits of a cordial relationship far outweigh those of rancour. Lawan understands that other Nigerians have their own opinions on this and other national issues. He also accepts that he could be vilified for promoting an approach that seeks stability in governance and discourages avoidable conflict in the polity. That is perfectly understandable. But when a reporter decides to sit in judgment on the views and actions of public officials, he should also remember those principles of fairness and balance that make the media the indispensable Fourth Estate of the Realm.

My heart definitely goes out to the survivors and the courage that it takes to come forward and tell the story, but my heart breaks as a mother because this is now the legacy that my children will have to deal with and their children’s children.

“At the end of the day, you cannot walk away from your bloodline. I have the ability to separate and distance myself from it, but his blood runs through my children’s veins and it’s part of their DNA and they couldn’t escape it even if they wanted to. So it’s very difficult for me to sit in that position.”

Abuja Lions Club Seeks Support To Combat Child Cancer.

The Abuja Metropolitan Lions Club has launched a N50 million fund for equipping of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital’s Oncology Centre.
The charity group said this would help in combatting cancer in children and give the victims of the deadly disease a ray of hope.
Speaking during the fundraiser in Abuja on Saturday, the club’s outgoing president, Mr Michael Aniekan said over N30 million was expended on the oncology centre at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
According to him, the club donated a 20-bed oncology treatment ward to the teaching hospital but the centre was not operational due to lack of equipment to treat patients.

He added that N50m was needed to equip the centre to be fully functional.
Aniekan stated, “In the service year 2021/2022, we are so particular about pediatric cancer. Our signature project this year is to consolidate what we had done earlier.
“Last year during the height of COVID-19 in Nigeria, Lions Club was able to put together a 20-bed oncology centre donated to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital.
“Today is another opportunity to bring people to put together our common wealth to equip the centre and put it to full use so that children who are faced with cancer will have a ray of hope.

We expect to get a substantial amount to kick start full equipping of the centre.
“It is my desire that today we put together an average of N50m for us to get best of equipment that can help these children find succour as it relates to health care.”
According to him, pediatric cancer, diabetes, environment, optics and hunger are five focal areas of the club.
Aniekan noted that the club focused on pediatric cancer for its 2021/2022 project because it was among the common non-infectious causes of childhood morbidity and mortality worldwide.

He added, “The Oncology Department of the UATH has worked assiduously with minimal space and equipment and has recorded some successes in the management of these patients. Over 100 children with cancer cases were hospitalized and treated in the last 36 months.
“You will agree with me that if given more facilities and motivation, the unit is likely to increase the success rate in the management of paediatric cancer.”

Hoodlums Allegedly Enforcing IPOB Sit-At-Home Set Ablaze Bus cLCarrying Foodstuffs In Enugu

Hoodlums on Monday set ablaze a bus conveying tomatoes, vegetables and other foodstuffs to Enugu for allegedly violating the suspended every Monday sit-at-home order.
This came as residents have continued to stay at home, defying even the orders of Indigenous People of Biafra leaders who had severally but unsuccessfully tried to halt the action.

It was gathered that the vehicle, Ford brand, was set ablaze by people believed to be enforcing the erstwhile sit-at-home order at Edem junction, Ibeagwa, Nike, in the Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State around 5:45 am.

The vehicle was reportedly coming from the Ugwogo end of the Opi/Enugu bypass when it was blocked and set on fire.
Sympathisers were said to have put a call to the State Fire Service, prompting a quick response by the Ogui Road fire service station.

Enugu did not observe last Monday’s sit-at-home, though there was low traffic. However, a shootout was later that day reported at the Garki suburb of Enugu metropolis.
Sources told our correspondent that the shootout that last Monday may have forced residents to retreat and continue with the sit-at-home today.
The leadership of the IPOB had severally announced an end to the Monday sit-at-home, but some hoodlums insist that it must continue until Nnamdi Kanu is released.

Violent attacks on those disobeying the order has forced residents of most parts of the South East to continue with the order.
When the State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, was contacted, he could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
The latest attack had brought to four buses conveying goods and foodstuffs that have been burnt, in addition to several tricycles allegedly destroyed by hoodlums for allegedly disobeying the sit-at-home order.

2023 Presidency: Only God knows what the future holds for me, says Fayemi

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi, says only God knows what his political future holds in the 2023 general elections.
Fayemi made this known on Sunday when he spoke on THISDAY Live, an interview programme on Arise Television monitored by The PUNCH.
Fayemi’s presidential campaign posters had gone viral in August 2020 and had sparked public debate on various social media platforms regarding the possibility of his candidacy in the 2023 presidential election.

The sponsor of the posters and Chairman of Ikere Council area of Ekiti State, Femi Ayodele, had said he did the posters, with the campaign message, ‘Support His Excellency Dr John Kayode Fayemi for President 2023’ “to show my unalloyed and uncompromising loyalty to Governor Fayemi” to dispel speculations that he was working against him.
But the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Yinka Oyebode, had said that his principal did not know anything about the posters.

Advert: Pi is a new digital currency developed by Stanford PhDs, with over 23 million members worldwide. To claim your Pi, follow this link https://minepi.com/Deprince82 and use my username (Deprince82) as your invitation code.

“The sponsor is merely expressing a personal opinion,” he had said.
Ayodele was later directed to “step aside” by the Ekiti State House of Assembly over alleged unauthorised viral campaign poster seeking support for Fayemi’s presidential ambition.

But when asked on Sunday whether he would be running for President in 2023, Fayemi said, “I have a job to do; I want to finish well as governor of Ekiti State, I want to do more to put Ekiti on the pedestal of growth and development in the period that is left for me in office.

“What the future holds, God’s knows, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. For now, my primary responsibility is Ekiti State.”
The governor also predicted victory for his party, the All Progressives Congress, in 2023.
He said, “Contentions are always going to happen. APC is a big party with different tendencies and there will be contentions for and against. We are very confident that this party will produce the next government in this country in 2023 but before we get there, we are more focused on the country now. The party is more interested in the stability and security of Nigeria.

What is happening internally is something we will resolve internally.”
With the 2023 elections fast approaching, there have been political posturings and permutations as to the next presidential candidate of the APC and opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
The 17 Southern Governors including Fayemi had also demanded that the next President should emerge from Southern Nigeria after the eight-year regime of the incumbent, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who is from Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.
The PUNCH recently reported that Salihu Yakasai, a former Special Adviser on Media to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, listed APC chieftains who have the ability to win the next presidential election to include APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; as well as Fayemi.

Fayemi was first Ekiti State governor from October 2010 to October 2014. He was later appointed Minister of Solid Minerals Development by Buhari and was in office between November 2015 and May 2018 before he was re-elected as the governor of Ekiti State in October 2018. The 56-year-old is expected to hand over power in October 2022 to a democratically elected successor.

Tinubu had surgery, I visited him in London to show support -Fayemi

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi, has said that he visited All Progressives Congress National Leader, Bola Tinubu, in London recently to show support for the ailing politician.
Fayemi made this known on Sunday when he spoke on THISDAY Live, an interview programme on Arise TV monitored by The PUNCH.
According to the governor, Tinubu had surgery and he had visited the former Lagos State governor alongside his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu, to show solidarity.
Fayemi also said his visit to Tinubu was not connected to the 2023 general elections.

The governor said, “He (Akeredolu) and I were in London together to see our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but it had absolutely nothing to do with 2023 presidential plans whatsoever. That’s not the reason why we went there.
“Asiwaju had just surgery, it is simply proper etiquette or behaviour both in the part of the country where I come from but also generally that when a friend and elder is undergoing health challenges, it would be improper on your part not to show solidarity and support.

“That is simply what took us there; we wanted to associate ourselves with him at a time of need and as an elder, as a mentor and as a big figure in our political party, nothing wrong in paying him a courtesy visit to check on him to see how he was faring and we did that and we returned.
“It has nothing to do with 2023; let me make that absolutely clear.”
Tinubu’s health has been a subject of controversy of late.
At least over 30 politicians have visited Tinubu, in London, in the last two months. Notably amongst the politicians include the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.); Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Kano State Governor, Umar Ganduje; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; as well as Fayemi and Akeredolu.

Others who also visited Tinubu in London include House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila; ex-Governor of Ogun State and current Senator representing Ogun Central, Ibikunle Amosun; former Governor of Borno State and current Senator representing Borno Central, Kashim Shettima.
Tinubu, who celebrated his 69th birthday in March 2021 and command an arguably large following of political loyalists, has been rumoured to nurse presidential ambition in 2023.

In recent years, the UK has become a choice destination for the Nigerian elite including the President, who frequent London for medical tourism while perpetual industrial actions, lack of modern equipment, failure of government to pay doctors’ salaries, amongst others, mar Nigeria’s health sector.

Bomb: I Met My Husband At Motor Park In 1976 As An Undergraduate -Faith Oyedepo

It was a Combination of SPIRITUALITY AND BRILLIANCE.
This is what NO LADY should Miss.
I was close to the ministry of Papa and can confirm many of this post about the Endurance of MAMA Faith Oyedepo.

1. She met him at a Motor Park

2. She was a university student – GREAT IFE
while he was only a Polytechnic student in
Kwara Poly (Remember the discrimination) – she could have snubbed him – but she responded.

3. His friends complained that he was
carrying Christianity too zealously as if he
was the only Christian – she became zealous
too.

4. He took her to church in 1976 and made
her sign an agreement (SAILING UNDER
SEALED ORDERS) to marry and follow him whether he becomes blind, lame or
handicapped… she signed.

5. Just before he married her, he told her
God had sent him to LIBERATE THE Worlds (while he was still hopping between jobs)
and went on to resign his job; his elder
brother lambasted him, she stuck to him.

6. He told her God had shown him the key
to prosperity – she believed.

7. He told her they would build a 50,000
capacity tent and preach the gospel from
private jets – she believed her dreamer lover.

8. He was too ‘buoyant’ to afford a hotel
room on his wedding eve, he slept in his
rickety Volkswagen beetle – she married
him.

9. During a moment of insane faith, he
ordered a mad man to be put in his car
alone with her while she was pregnant; she
remained.

10. She saw she was dripping blood while
pregnant and explained to him that she had
a miscarriage, he shouted “It CANNOT
Happen, can I have my food please” – she
served him food.

11. She just had their first baby and there
was no food or money at home. He refused
to borrow or ask or take from church
money and they were drinking/eating
“CERELAC Baby food’ for 3 days – she ate
with him.

12. She came to church one day and saw
him so excited with few members while
waiting for service to start; he explained to
her that service was actually over – she
laughed.

13. People kept praying for her and her
husband as they seemed to be crazy and
needed deliverance-she kept faith.

14. He announced a new Bible school and
she knew there was no facility; she asked
him and he replied “Is it your school”? She
kept quiet.
BUT SHE DIDN’T KNOW…

15. She didn’t know they were going to be
flying in customized jets round the world.

16. She didn’t know he would pastor and
she, co-pastor the largest church auditorium in the world.

17. She didn’t know he would be a father to millions all over the world.

18. She didn’t know he would be hosted by
Presidents and Heads of States of nations.

19. She didn’t know he would be a
Chancellor and Pioneer of one of the best
Private Universities in the world…..and
others.

20. She woke up one day on her sick bed in the USA and unexpectedly saw her hubby who had flown in quietly from Nigeria and had refused to wake her up…..he was kneeling on the floor by her legs and crying ‘Lord, heal her and prove that you sent me”- She got healed miraculously…more than once!
All she saw was a Man with A BIG GOD
inside him.

21. She said to her husband ‘Honey,we need to change the school of this children’. The school is no longer what it used to be.
Parents are complaining and they aren’t
doing anything about it. Her husband
Bishop David Oyedepo responded: Why?

No! She never altered a word after that. She went back to God on her kneels in Prayers.
She prayed: God touch the heart of your son who is my husband. You alone understand this present situation. Let him see reasons with what I am saying. Not up to a day,her husband the Bishop said to her: Honey, that reminds me.

You made mention of we changing the children’s school, how far have
you gone with it? This was a man that said why? no earlier on. She never argued with him but rather went back to her God. Her name is FAITH: Pastor (Mrs) Faith Oyedepo.
Here is a question for the ladies:
Can you pay the Price Ladies???

See you today as we DISCOVER WHAT made MAMA Oyedepo to WIN at last…..
It was a Combination of SPIRITUALITY AND BRILLIANCE…

Congratulations Distinguished Senator Ararume -Okigwe Zone, Imo State, Ala Igbo Win! -Prof. Obiaraeri

🎤
_SUNDAY SUNDAY LEGAL AND POLITICAL TITBITS FROM THE ☆☆☆☆☆ 5-STAR CIVILIAN GENERAL_

The recent appointment of Distinguished Senator Araraume as the Chairman of the Board of NNPC Ltd by President Buhari is a very welcome development!

Every sensible, politically aware, progressive minded, reasonable and responsible Imolite should be happy that for once, one of our own has been put in charge of a key and strategic portfolio in the oil and gas sector.

Imo State is one of the major oil producing States in Nigeria, yet Imo State has been receiving the short end of the stick in the oil and gas sector.

No doubt that the jinx has been broken with Senator Araraume’s appointment.

President Buhari certainly got this one right ✅ for the people of Okigwe Zone, Imo State and Ndigbo in general even as we are optimistic that Distinguished Senator Araraume will not disappoint the nation as
he is more than eminently qualified to provide commanding leadership as the Chairman of the Board of NNPC Ltd.

While the euphoria of the appointment is still high, as expected, a few toxic politicians have come up with mischievous commentaries and negative analogies in an unsuccessful bid to diminish the enormity of the appointment.

These political necromancers and sorcerers have started reading 2023 politics into the appointment by making ill-processed and illogical conjectures on how it will affect or not affect the second term chances of the incumbent Governor Uzodinma of Imo State in 2023.

That is bitter politics taken too far by *”ndi ori na crisis” and ndi ufu obi.*

It is public knowledge that Governor Uzodinma has not declared interest in 2023 re-election just as Senator Araraume has also not declared interest in 2023 gubernatorial bid.

So where are these handful of mischievious political stargazers getting their facts from other than giving vent to their cruel interest of setting the Governor on a collision course with Senator Araraume in the discharge of the responsibilities of his new office?

Who falls for such very cheap propaganda and moronic stunt?

2023 politics never reach joor!

No need hitting up the polity because of baloney and hogwash spewed by idle characters who will go out of business if peace reigns.

What is beyond dispute is that with Senator Araraume’s appointment, Okigwe Zone, Imo State and Alaigbo are all winners because a person from any other State or any other ethnic group in Nigeria could have been appointed into that position but their own was considered and found worthy.

I therefore trust that all stakeholders within and outside Imo State and Igboland will assist Senator Araraume to succeed in his new assignment and bring the dividends of the plum appointment home.

Okigwe Zone, Imo State and Alaigbo need every major political appointments and elective positions they can get in order to reduce their marginalisation.

Even as I am not done thanking President Buhari for the appointment of SenatorAraraume, it will not be out of place to draw attention of all concerned to the fact that more than one year after Barr Emma Nwosu (a former elected Vice Chairman of Isiala Mbano LGA of Imo State and Legal Practitioner of many years standing among other things), was nominated as a Federal Commissioner designate into the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
(RMAFC), his confirmation is still pending in the Senate as it was adjourned _sine die._

This Learned Gentleman does not have any legal impediment but destructive politics from home has made it impossible for him to be cleared by the Senate long after his other colleagues that were nominated the same day into the Commission have been cleared by the Senate and subsequently sworn into office.

Sadly, Imo State is today the only State that is not represented in the very important Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission and the loss cannot be quantified.

This is to respectfully appeal to the Senate leadership and those behind this imbroglio to have a rethink and do the needful.

Politics must continue to be without bitterness. All men are brothers. All women are sisters. Humanity is one!

Ahead 2023 and beyond, top Igbo politicians and leaders must learn to embrace peace, forgive one another and put their trusts in GOD for power can only come from GOD.

Imo State and South East politicians and leaders have destroyed themselves enough.

Political infighting, *”nshiko mentality”* or *”onye kwuru oto egbutuoya syndrome”* are most unhelpful and counterproductive.

*Ako bu ije.* Sense is movement!

Sadly, the younger ones fan the embers of disunity among the big players via hack writing on social media platforms without realising that when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.

*Biri kam biri awughi ujo. Egbe bere ugo bere kanma. Onye emegbula nwanneya.*

Live and let live is the best policy and it is not cowardice.

Once more, this is wishing Senator Araraume success in his new assignment.

Congratulations is better than sorry.

I Caught My Husband in My Sister In-law’s Bedroom —Wife, I Always Beg My Wife Before We Have Sex —Husband

I caught my husband in my sister in-law’s bedroom —Wife
•I always beg my wife before we have sex —Husband

The marriage between a Ndola man and his wife has been dissolved after his wife caught him in the bedroom of his late brother’s widow.

According to Zambian Observer, Ketty Mfune, 24, sued Samuel Siwale, 32, for divorce in the Chipulukusu Local Court, Zambia, for allegedly cheating on her with her sister in-law.

She said after his brother’s death, she caught her husband in her sister-in-law’s bedroom around 4:00 a.m.

Ketty narrated that after the incident, she sought reconciliation in the local court but her husband had continued seeing her late brother’s widow.

She testified that Samuel told her that asking him to break up with her sister in-law was like challenging him to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

However, Samuel accused Ketty of denying him conjugal rights.

“My wife constantly denied me sex. I begged her before we had sex to produce our two children,” he said

Imo State And The Emperor’s Book Of Life -Collins Opurozor

They had thought their names were written in the book of life. All they wanted was good life. Financial salvation could give that. And Emperor Odidika of Imo state promised them that and wrote their names in his book. They are Imo youths.

They were lured out with that promise to a public square and made to sing and dance and worship at the feet of the Emperor, the sole ruler of Imo state. Yes, they did everything because the Emperor has made their own lives, and life itself in Imo, a huge misery.

If only succumbing to worship him under the scorch of the sun from dawn to dusk would give us bread, they said to themselves, let us do it for the sake of our throats and intestines. Man must wack! And the worshippers filed out at Dan Anyiam Stadium like supplicant serfs before one Hellenistic king and his ferocious henchmen. Poverty is the slavery of the free!

When they had finished rendering their songs of praise for the pleasures of the Emperor, he commanded them to return to their homes, and vowed that before they would exit the venue of the worship of the demigod-emperor, bank alerts of N250,000 would begin to pour into their phones. He said N8 billion had already been doled out.

Days have rolled into weeks, and weeks into months, and many months have gone by, yet not an individual has received anything from the Emperor. Ahiazuwa! Just like Vladimir and Estragon, the two queer characters in Samuel Beckett’s celebrated play, Waiting For Godot,

waited under a tree till the end of time for one Godot who had promised to help them but never came, the hoodwinked Imo youths have waited endlessly, walking up and down with their phones and chargers, for the Emperor’s bank alerts which never came.

How Imo has become more fictional than fiction! It has also become a maze of antinomies, and how a book of life could become a book of shame, sorrow and death, only the decadent Emperor could tell.

Let fraud be fraud, and let governance be governance. They are two different things. They are also diametrically opposed. Mixing up the two is always catastrophic!

Imo ga-adi nma ozo!

Kumuyi: How I Started Deeper Life With 15 Persons In 1973

General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi has explained how he started the ministry in August 1973, with 15 “truth-seekers.”

While speaking at the launch of his book, he also stated why he’s known as Defender of Faith. The speech is reproduced below:
Why I’m called Defender of the Faith
I never knew that the words The Defender of the Faith were part of my name and calling.

We were in Singapore for a conference with attendees from different parts of the world, and my humble self was required to give series of messages.

After I finished the series, one of the ministers came and asked me if I knew the meaning of my name, William. I responded that I never thought about it.
Actually, when I was a young Anglican and I was to be christened, my father asked me what christian name I would love to bear.

I said I would love to bear the name Johnson.
There was a Johnson in our community who was very vocal, fervent, bold and courageous and I had learnt to appreciate him. It was agreed that I would be Johnson.

But then when we got to the Church something else happened. As the ceremony was being preformed the minister said “This boy shall be called William”. I wondered why I had to bear that name.

It wasn’t many years later after I got converted on April 5 1964 and I became a preacher, travelling teacher and evangelist that we got to this meeting in Singapore.

I met this minister who had studied the meanings of names. For one reason or the other he had checked the root and etymology of my name, William.
He told me: “Your name, William, means THE DEFENDER OF THE FAITH”. He added that what I’d done there in Singapore was prophetic, a reflection of the mission and vision of man elected to fight for the faith. Whereupon he prayed along with me. Since that time I’ve been more conscious of the fact that God called me.
I emphasize “called me” because I had the knowledge and understanding of who God is from 1952. Then aged 11, I put God to a test. I wanted a problem resolved. So I proceeded by telling God: “If it is going to be this way, let this happen, and if it is going to be that way, let that happen.” What I told the Lord happened, and since then in 1952, I’ve been very conscious of God being my Guide.

Then in 1964, I heard the gospel in a very simple way that God loves humanity, and everyone regardless of their status, background and religion because the scripture says unequivocally that God loves the world, and gave man His only begotten Son, and that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Before that time, all I was doing was trying to live a good and righteous life, an upright life above board and reproach.

Suddenly it dawned on me that day that I could not save myself, I could not pull up myself by the bootstraps.
So on that day, the 5th of April, 1964, I said “Lord, You have sent our Lord Jesus Christ not only to save humanity but to save me. So I gave my life over to the Lord Jesus. I had a real transformation and it was clear to everyone who knew me in my alma mater, Mayflower School under Tai Solarin at that time, that a change really came, and the school knew about it.

Eventually, I moved forward, reading books. Later, Reverend Mellor of the Methodist Church handed over to me the writings of John Wesley, the illustrious English preacher. I began to read the works and found myself consecrated to the Lord. This was because I saw how John Wesley went all over England and Europe, defending the faith, even though I didn’t know the meaning of my name William then.

Finally, I told God, “If you could use a man this way at that time, then You can use me. I came across just one sentence that turned everything around.

John Wesley said:
“Give me a hundred men that fear nothing but sin and love none but God, and we will turn the world upside down”.
I plunged into deep thought about that. Could I be like John Wesley? After that inner search, I came across Charles G. Finney’s books, and I was asked if I could be like him? I answered the call because I knew that it was of God. So, I took up the challenge and we started the ministry in 1973 August 3rd, with only 15 truth seekers.

From there we moved on to what we have now.
As I began to see that we can be transformed and be what God wants us to be, He gave us the Lord Jesus, not only to be Saviour but as a pattern and example for us to follow. I used to say I wanted to be like John Wesley.

But later, I have since sought to be like Jesus Who is Master, Saviour, Preacher, Teacher, Evangelist, and everything. By the grace of God, I moved from being a teacher to an evangelist, to being a pastor and a little bit of the life of an apostle and miracles began to take place: eyes being opened and the lame rising up and walking. And on a few occasions we saw the dead being brought back to life.

And now with the media that came in, we found that Jesus Christ said anyone who believes in Him will do the works He did, and greater works than that because He goes to the Father. A centurion came to Jesus to ask for healing for his servant who was sick of the palsy, and he told Jesus not to come to his house but to speak the word only and his servant would be healed.

We know that healing can come through various ways: by laying on of hands, by anointing with oil, by two of us agreeing together. There is also the ministry of “speaking the word only, and my servant shall be healed.” By the Mercy of the Lord, Heaven is doing this in my ministry now. We are having what we call the Global Crusade through which we connect to people from all over the world and cancer and other diseases have been healed, just by praying from here in Nigeria.

We also saw the case of an entire family that was infected with covid 19 pandemic and by praying for them online and the following day when they went to the hospital the tests were negative: they were totally cured.
We’ve seen HIV Aids, cancer, and lots of sicknesses healed.
But let me reveal something.
I have had experiences in teaching in the secular world complex Mathematics variables. there are many of my students who have gone beyond me. Sometimes I meet past students who are now professors, engineers, doctors who know what I don’t know.

I want to do this in Christianity to raise people who will go beyond me. We can even start now as you read this. You can say, “Lord, whatever you have done by, through and with this man, William the defender, do it through me.”
Then we can go beyond John Wesley and say, “Give me a thousand people, a million people that love God with all their hearts and souls and we can turn the world upside down.” We can do it! We will start from our city, our nation, our continent Africa and who knows, we can change the world by His Grace, love, in His mercy, with our commitment and consecration and by surrendering everything we have to Him, we can change the world.
Someone was interviewing me three weeks ago from London because he wanted to take part in our crusade. He said, “You are now 80, what do you still have that you have not done?”

I told him 80 is just a number. Tossing that aside, you are as young as your dedication, vision and love for God. If you can dedicate your life to God and say you want to make an impact and touch lives before you leave the world, the Lord will answer your prayers.
Moses started at 80 and I’m just starting at 80 and who knows how far we can still go? You and I teaming together, knowing full well that the world needs us, our people and this generation need us, we can, if we count on God.

•Kumuyi, General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, spoke at the public presentation of his biography, Kumuyi:Defender of the Faith, in Lagos last week.

Imo House Of Assembly: Uzodimma And Reign Of Tyranny

By Collins Opurozor

Oppression, cruelty, sleaze and mass misery are just the defining features of tyranny, while the absence of institutional frameworks for safeguarding human rights and civil liberties makes it possible. It is, therefore, in the character of all tyrants to stifle democratic institutions, muzzle political dissent and gag the press. And since absolute power corrupts absolutely, all moral and political checks to the powers of a tyrant are subdued in this inordinate quest for political absolutism and arbitrary use of power.

In mid January, last year, some interests in Abuja foisted Chief Hope Uzodinma on Imo people through a judicial coup. It was something bizarre, something very abhorrent – an occurrence that rolled back Nigeria’s democratic progress and stained an entire page in the country’s judicial diary. It was, to be sure, a dark and bitter episode in the history of Imo state.

For Igbo people at large, who are known to be democratic and republican by nature, the imposition of an unelected ruler on one of their states was a big assault on the timeless and revered political culture of the people and a reenactment of the failed indirect rule system of the colonial masters. Consequently, the continued occupation of Imo State Government House by Chief Uzodinma, for Ndigbo, indicates the extent to which the people have been denied the power to determine their political destiny within the context of Nigeria. This is a serious political and cultural problem and it hurts the dignity of Igbo people everywhere.

What now makes matters worse in Imo is that Uzodinma has stifled other arms of government and established himself as the only source of all powers in the bid to control the state and achieve some sinister motives. Even the Local Government system has been destroyed completely. He sacked nearly all his appointees over five months ago, and just like all tyrants, he has outsourced hatchet jobs to a coterie of shadowy characters whose sordid acts you can feel but whose faces you can never know. This is government by other means! The tyranny that crept into Imo in January last year has taken root and is now in full swing.

As a sole administrator, Uzodinma sees Imo as his earthly fiefdom and the people as his conquered serfs. It was this conquest he had sought to achieve by levying a war of attrition on the Imo State House of Assembly, the very fulcrum of democratic governance, so that his authoritarian rule would reign unchecked, unchallenged and unfettered.

He began by buying off some malleable members of the House of Assembly. And when he bought a majority, he proceeded to change the leadership and brought onboard a Speaker, Paul Emeziem, who cannot even speak for himself and one totally naive yet helplessly ambitious character called Amara Iwuanyanwu, to finally destroy the parliament. And these two individuals, and some others like them, whose names will be written in letters of shame in the annals of Imo state, have kept faith with Uzodinma in emasculating the Assembly of Imo people.

Through them, Uzodinma effected the indefinite suspension of key opposition lawmakers, including the Minority Leader, whom he saw to be outspoken against his executive rascality and unbridled abuse of public trust. A touching and heartrending revelation by the former Chief Whip, Hon. Arthur Egwim, shortly after he was dethroned some months ago remains fresh in the minds of Imo people.

Egwim had hinted that even in the face of the hydra-headed problem of insecurity in the state, Uzodinma still refused to have any meeting with the members of the House to work out options for addressing the problem. On the authority of his revelation, the House, at the peak of the insecurity, had begged Uzodinma for audience for over six months, yet he never agreed to see them.

Instead, Uzodinma ordered the suspension of opposition lawmakers while gunshots were booming and bullets raining in the hallowed chamber. He thereafter instructed the House to embark on a recess for eight weeks. And just yesterday they reconvened, he ordered them to vacate for another six weeks. For the twenty months that Uzodinma’s wobbling regime has lasted, Imo has not had an active parliament for more than three months. It is not a mistake. It is simply the willful destruction of democracy and creation of a tyranny by Uzodinma. This is not without a purpose. It is not objectless.

The result has been shocking. Just in eleven months, Uzodinma took loans amounting to almost N35 billion. Nobody can tell what he has done with the money. There is no parliament to question him. The 13% Derivation Funds to the State under Uzodinma have now totalled about N15.2 billion, yet ISOPADEC has not completed a single health center in the oil-bearing areas for twenty months.

Just the overhead cost of governance, which goes into satisfying Uzodinma’s appetitive drive for ceaseless Abuja trips, private jets, champagnes, luxury apartments, lengthy convoys and other mundane frivolities, hits over N2.6 billion per month. This is pathetic. But what is more outrageous is that, even when the Imo has received over N76 billion as Local Government allocations from FAAC, not a single Local Government in Imo is working, and despite about N85 billion which the State Government has received, Uzodinma cannot meet the first-line obligation of governance, which is the payment of salaries.

But Imo people have become politically aware. They know, just like Soyinka wrote, that the man dies in him who keeps silent in the face of tyranny. The people therefore cannot cover before a tyrant. They cannot be intimidated, and not even the greatest army can stop an idea whose time has come. Their rejection of Uzodinma and whatever he represents is total and perpetual. The destruction of the House of Assembly cannot break their spirit. And, very soon, Imo shall rise again.

Tragedy: Pastor Shuaibu Of New Life Church Killed By Mob At Night In Kano State

PASTOR SHUAIBU, THE NORTHEASTERN EVANGELIST OF NEW LIFE CHURCH AND THE CAN CHAIRMAN OF SUMAILA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KANO STATE IN NIGERIA WAS KILLED ON 23RD SEPTEMBER, 2021 AT 12:15AM.

Rev. Shuaibu has been the Northeastern Evangelist of New life Church and the CAN chairman of Sumaila Local Government area of Kano state in Nigeria. He lived in a village called Massu.

Recently, the growth of the Missionary base in Massu had been envied by the Moslems and the wish for its uproot from the environment for no justifiable reasons.

Few days ago one young Man who converted from Islam but has neither been going to Church nor mosque fought with his brothers wife. In the cause of fight, he hit her with with Piston and she died, the young man surrendered himself to the Mopol that are stationed in the area and was taken to the station for further prosecution. The place became so tensed as people who heard the position of the Moslems in the area advised the Reverend to leave the area for a safer place because the Moslems felt the young man

who killed a woman in a fight is a Christian sensing that as usual, they may attack and the Reverend is the main target especially because of his obvious exploits.

He left for one of the neighboring villages called Biri where he stayed for a night, the next day he came back to vacate the school pupils to avoid any eventualities knowing that if the school activities continued, the children can easily be targeted and killed.

Late Reverend shuaibu noticed that the tension was dowsed and he thought he could stay with his family and people, but the Moslems gather their mob and descended on him, Machetted him badly, burnt down his House, the Church and the School in the night.

His wife was able to sneak out with the Children in the midst of the mob since it was dark already.

The report reached the brethren in other villages and the vice CAN chairman called the police. Before they arrived the damage was already great, they rush him to the hospital trying resuscitate him but He could not make it.

Reverend stood his ground for the faith even unto death.

He went to be with the LORD. The main problem here is the fate of the believers in that community and his family for which he left nothing to live on as he has all this years been serving faithfully by faith not for money.

This is the story of the life of a Christian soldier, the ambassador of the LORD, who was hunted and gruesomely killed at his duty post and his wrong was that he was a servant of the LORD!

We know that at this kind of time, it takes an immeasurable risk to be a Christian especially in the northern part of Nigeria!

Anyone serving God in Christ, can’t be sure of the following day in this body being in the North.

Pastor Shuaibu, a soldier of Christ whose blood was spilled for the sake of his faith in Christ went to be with the LORD on the 23rd September, 2021.

You fought a good fight and Won the race, your crown awaits you!

We are sure we shall see you some day at the foot of the Master.

We are sad here but heaven rejoice over your return!

The comfort of the LORD be available for your family and the entire body of Christ.

THE CHURCH WILL CONTINUE TO MATCH EVEN IN KANO STATE IN THE NAME OF JESUS!

Breaking: Tanker drivers protest in Niger, block Bida roads.

There is palpable tension in Bida town in Niger state as tanker drivers blocked all the major exits in the town and prevented motorists from going in and out of the town.
All the major roads within the town have been blocked by the tanker drivers to protest the deplorable condition of the bad roads in the state, especially Bida-Lapai-Lambata Road.

Passengers travelling to various states in the East, South, North-West, North-East and North Central are now stranded.
Due to the development, hoodlums now extort commercial motorcyclists as they charge between N20 and N50 before they are allowed access to the minor roads left by the tanker drivers.

The situation, especially in the Esso area of Bida Town, is alarming as all vehicles stand still without movement.
Residents of the town have called on the State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, to, as a matter of urgency, intervene before the situation gets out of hand.

Police Brutality: Policeman who allegedly killed 18-year-old admission seeker in Lagos dismissed, to be arraigned

A policeman, Sgt. Samuel Phillips, who allegedly killed an 18-year-old female admission seeker in the Ijeshatedo area of Surulere, Lagos State, has been dismissed and would be arraigned, the spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, has said.
He stated this in a statement on Friday titled, ‘Ijeshatedo Shooting Incident: Sgt Samuel Philipps Dismissed From Service, To Be Arraigned In Court’.
“This is to inform the general public that Sgt Samuel Philipps who was tried for the shooting incident of 11th September, 2021 that led to the death of Monsurat Ojuade has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.

He was dismissed after conclusion of his orderly room trial. The suspect will be charged to court today for murder.
“Recall that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had promised that the matter would be properly investigated and that justice would be served.

This action is, therefore, done in fulfillment of that promise.
“The Commissioner of Police further sympathises with the bereaved family, and reiterates his earlier promise that justice would be done in this case,” the statement read.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the police sergeant attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, allegedly shot dead Monsurat Ojuade around 11.30pm on September 11, 2021 in the Surulere area of the state.
Monsurat was an admission seeker, who reportedly scored 236 in the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations and was awaiting admission, when she was killed.
It was gathered that Monsurat was the third of three female children and filled Mass Communication and Accounting as her first and second choices in her UTME form.
The victim was said to be in front of her parents’ house on Mogaji Street, Ijesha, Surulere, when some anti-robbery officers from the SCIID stormed the community.
A community leader, Onikeku Adedayo, had said that one of the cops approached him and demanded what he was doing outside by that time.
“I told him that I was in front of my house and I am a community leader. He said it was too late and I should go inside. I and a few others around me left. Not less than three minutes later, I heard a gunshot. I heard her sister scream that she had been shot. The policemen fled the scene immediately,” he had added.
Adedayo had also said the victim was hit by a bullet that penetrated her two thighs, adding that she was immediately drenched in blood.
He had explained that Monsura was rushed to a private hospital in the community, where she was rejected before she was later taken to the Randle General Hospital, where she was given first aid.
“By that time, she had collapsed and could not talk. The hospital placed her on oxygen and tried to stop the bleeding. They said they could not continue the treatment because her bones had been shattered by the bullet and she needed orthopaedic treatment.
“We were referred to either Igbobi Orthopaedic Hospital or Gbagada General Hospital. When we got to Igbobi, she was almost gone and we decided to take her to a private hospital, where she was confirmed dead. Although she was confirmed dead around 1.30am on Saturday, I believe that she died within 30 minutes of the shooting,” Adedayo added.
Her remains were said to have been deposited in the Military Hospital morgue, Yaba.
Despite the outrage that accompanied the #EndSARS protests in October 2020, extrajudicial killings by policemen seem to know no end.
Just on July 3, 2021, policemen chasing Yoruba Nation protesters at a rally in Lagos allegedly shot dead a 25-year-old salesgirl, Jumoke Oyeleke.
Jumoke was displaying soft drinks at her boss’ shop in a compound close to the rally ground when security men chased some demonstrators into the premises and shot at her and others.

Misrule: Imo People Can’t Wait To Sack APC At The Polls,PDP Chieftain Ekezie Carpets Uzodimma

Collins Opurozor

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Stanley Ekezie, has decried the failure of Senator Hope Uzodinma to deliver good governance to Imo people. He said across all sectors for twenty months, the Uzodinma administration in Imo state has left the people with broken hopes and failed expectations.

Ekezie, an Imo-born real estate mogul who also is a Southeast zonal ex officio of the PDP, stated this while receiving the Forum of Imo Editors and Columnists at his residence in Owerri, Wednesday the 22nd day of September, 2021.

He regretted that Imo people are sad and the atmosphere has become gloomy as a result of the disappointing scorecard of the incumbent governor.

For the accomplished entrepreneur, infrastructure in the state has decayed, while salaries of workers and pensions of retirees are mired in endless controversies. He however expressed confidence in the level political awareness in the state and maintained that Imo people are fully prepared to boot out the APC administration from power come 2023.

Speaking further on the innovations within the PDP, Ekezie revealed that the leading opposition party in the state has been repositioned for resounding electoral victories, and added that the PDP’s outstanding performance during the seven months of the Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as governor has earned the party overwhelming goodwill among Imo people. He enthused that the party will ride on the unbeatable performance back to power.

According to him, the Ihedioha administration opened a floodgate of opportunities in the state, provided security and turned around the economy.

He dismissed claims that some members of the party are defecting to the APC and insisted that no person who is relevant to the successes of the PDP at the polls in Imo has left the party.

Officer Dehumanizing Corps Member In Video Highly Unprofessional And Unacceptable.

The Nigerian Army (NA) has taken cognizance of a video clip currently making the rounds on the social media, where a female officer was seen dehumanizing a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Calabar, Cross River State. This act is not only condemnable, but unprofessional and against established precepts of discipline in the NA.The NA has remained undoubtedly the pride of the nation, a symbol of national unity that has consistently being in the vanguard of respect for the fundamental human rights of the citizenry. It is against this premise that the NA condemns this unimaginable level of infraction by a personnel in its ranks. The NA therefore, condemns in strong terms, this act of gross misconduct. Undoubtedly, the officer’s actions has caused the NA monumental embarrassment and is highly regrettable. This unfortunate act of indiscipline does not in anyway represent the NA and will not be condoned in its entirety. For the records, the ugly incident happened in 13 Brigade, Calabar. The Brigade Commander immediately instituted an investigation and the officer involved has been identified and sanctioned on the interim and would be made to undergo regimental orders (trial) in line with the extant provisions of the Armed Forces Act. The submission that the Brigade attempted covering up was therefore misleading, as the NA remains a professional force that has zero tolerance for indiscipline amongst its personnel. The NA wishes to reiterate and assure the general public that such infractions would not be tolerated from its personnel. The NA also reassures that the rights of the citizenry is sacrosanct and must be respected by all personnel of the NA, as any form of infraction will be severely dealt with. Therefore, the general public is enjoined to continue to report such infractions, as Human Rights Desks in all formations of the NA are emplaced to deal decisively with such erring personnel.
The NA further wishes to tender unreserved apology to the victim, her family members, friends, National Youth Service Corps and to Nigerians in general for the unwholesome treatment meted out to the Corps member.ONYEMA NWACHUKWU

PTS Spiritual Emphasis: Our Call To The Gospel Ministry -Rev. Pst. Ejikeme Ejim

Pentecostal Theological Seminary, Port-Harcourt, River State.

Spiritual Emphasis with Rev. Pastor Ejikeme Ejim, the General Superintendent, Assemblies of God Nigeria.

Theme: Our Call To The Gospel Ministry

Topic: The Purpose For The Call.
Text: Act 26:12 -36

Some ministers have forgotten why they were called.
Everyone God called has a purpose for the call.
Abraham and several others had a purpose for their call.

A minister should remove himself from whatever would constitute a hindrance to the call.
A minister should cultivate and imbibe a lifestyle of prayer and sacrifice because it is critical to the success of his ministry.

Moses was called to deliver the Israelites from Egypt.

It is on us ministers to deliver or bring out sinners from the bondage of SIN.

Ministers should resist the tendency of being subordinate to their Senior Pastor, they should remember that ministry requires submission.
Every minister should be well behaved and properly cultured.

Moses and Aaron are good examples of submission.

Joshua, Gideon, and Sampson amongst others, though Sampson was expected to be “Completely dedicated to God.” His life was a far cry from such expectation but all of them were called for a purpose.

When God calls a person he puts him in front so the minister can lead the members where they could find pastures and Salvation.

If you want to make a success in the ministry, keep yourself under the HOLY SPIRIT.

Ministers should not reinvent the negative narrative of Eli and his Sons in ministry but should be decisive in redressing wrongdoing, no matter who is involved.

If any man is running and he does not run well, God will change him like Samuel and Eli, David and Saul.

Growth in ministry may be slow but wherever God calls you and wants you to be, stay there, God will provide the necessary requirements for success.

Ministers should concentrate on their ministries and emulate the example of Jesus Christ who indeed was a fishers of men in tandem with his calling.

Prayer and evangelism is the most important thing in the ministry.

Soul-winning is God’s heartbeat.

Ministers should build the Church in Christ.
People should be pointed to Christ, irrespective of the calling.

What were you called to do?

😭😭😭Four siblings who died after eating Suya buried amidst tears in Abia state.

The deceased comprising three males and one female, Kelechi, 12, Sunday, 10, Oluomachi, eight (female) and Kingsley (three) were buried on Saturday, September 18.

The siblings, all children of Chibuzo and Chioma Ikwunze were reportedly spending their third term holiday in the home of one Sunday Ugba, their close family friend at Umueze Ibeku, Umuahia North LGA when the incident happened.

The children and Mr Ugba along with two members of his family died after eating Suya with fruit juice on August 24th, 2021. Read previous report HERE

Family sources, however, said that the results of the autopsy carried out on them were still being awaited.

The President-General of Ohuhu Development Union, Chief Obi Aguocha, attended the service

Speaking on the tragedy earlier this month, Mr Ikwunze, an artisan, disclosed that his children were regular guests of the Ogbas in Umueze were they usually spent their holiday season.

He said the late Ogba, who hails from Apañu Item, Bende LGA, has been a close family friend for the past 20 years as both families had lived together at number 17 Ozuitem street extension before the Ogba’s relocated to their own house in Umueze.

According to Mr Ikwunze, the late Ogba, had on Tuesday 24th August, brought home the fruit Juice and the suya which later led to the deaths of three Members of the Ogba family and four members of the Ikwunze’s the following day.

“It was on Thursday last two weeks that my friend called Mr Sunday Ogba (Late) requested me to bring my children at his residence in Umueze for a holiday just as my children normally do after school period which I did on Friday last two weeks,” he narrated.

I called my wife who was preparing to go for August meeting, she equally expressed disbelief and suggested that we immediately go to their residence in Umueze and find out things for ourselves.

“I summoned courage and called back the person who informed me of the sad news to get more details and was told that my four children were also dead. On hearing that, we rushed to Umueze where we met a mammoth crowd including the Nigerian Police and it was there I confirmed that my four children were no more.

“Information that I got from one of the surviving relation of the late Sunday Ogba, who happens to be his daughter, said her father brought the Suya and three packets of Juice out of which one was given to my kids to share, the other was given to the man’s children to share while the late Sunday consumed the remaining one with his wife

“She said that after consuming the Suya and Fruit Juice, my children requested for boiled yam which was cooked and equally consumed with red oil by the entire household

“I was told that my second child starting crying, complaining of dizziness and later started vomiting of which the wife of the deceased Sunday cleaned up her vomit. After that, other members of the family started reacting the same way and had to drink palm oil. Mrs Ogba Sunday from what i heard slumped at the passage on her way to take her bath and the following morning it was discovered that members of their family including my children were all dead.”

“The Labours Of Our Heroes Past Shall Never Be In Vain…”

“The Labours of Our Heroes Past
Shall Never be in Vain…”

CHIEF OGBONNAYA UCHE (OGB)

Chief Ogbonnaya Chijioke Uche better known as “OGB” or “OSUOHIA” would have been putting finishing touches to plans for the celebration of his 55th birthday had he been alive today: he was born on September 29, 1960. As a perfectionist, nothing would have escaped the robust attention of this master mind.

Unfortunately, OGB fell to the machinations of wicked assassins on February 8, 2003 at 42. Till today, his premature departure remains a source of unending sadness in Arondizuogu and beyond because OGB was a meticulous planner, a consummate go-getter, a passionate patriot, a compassionate philanthropist and a fearless political gladiator with a clear vision for a glorious Arondizuogu, a model Ideato, a more advanced Orlu zone, a more developed Imo State and a more prosperous Nigeria – in that order.

Not only did OGB have a clear vision, he also had plans with well-thought out strategies on how to actualize them. His political life was short in fact but long in accomplishments making him a quintessential hero. The exit of this unforgettable trail-blazer was a fundamental set-back for Arondizuogu, for Imo State, for Orlu senatorial zone and for Nigeria.

When President Muhammadu Buhari and OGB’s political associates in ANPP (which senatorial candidate OGB was at the time) came to Ndimoko for OGB’s burial in 2003, Buhari was appalled at the condition of the Uga – Akokwa – Arondizuogu – Okigwe Federal Road and cited it as evidence of misgovernance. Today, that road has become practically impassable and the junction to OGB’s home at Ndimoko has been overtaken by a crater filled with mud and water causing commuters to make an agonizing detour through surrounding villages.

The appalling condition of this road brings tears to the eyes and makes the remembrance of the exit of this hero whose compassion and philanthropy knew no geographical or ethnic limitations a VERY difficult and painful one.

I Feared Jay-Z Would’ve Punched Me At A Movie Premiere — Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua has revealed that he once thought he was going to be punched by hip-hop legend, Jay-Z.
The unified heavyweight champion managed to grab a photo with the ‘Big Pimpin” star at a Will Smith movie premiere in the United States, The SUN UK reports.
Joshua revealed that Jay-Z was far from happy with his approach to taking the photograph.

Speaking during an interview with William Hill, Joshua recalled, “Jay-Z was cool. I was at a Will Smith premiere once, years ago.

“So, imagine – you know those lovely houses that are like mansion houses and they’ve got a stairway in the middle and they depart around left and right and they come back? Pure opulence.
“I was at this big premiere and it was one of those big staircases and I was in the top left.

And I saw Jay-Z walk in and in my head, I was like, ‘Yo, there’s Jay-Z.’ Know what I mean? Ready to jump down the balcony. But I thought, ‘Play it cool’.
“So, I thought, ‘what way is he gonna come up these stairs?’ Because if I stand on the left and he goes on right, there’s too many people, it’s a premiere.
“Thank God I stood at the right side. As he come up, I was kind of like (grabs his wrist), ‘Jay, do you mind if I get a picture?’ And he kind of looked at my hand, yeah, like, ‘Boy, I will bust your head if you don’t get off my hand.’

“But it was just one of those things where I just gave also transferred his music ability into becoming one of the most successful businessmen in the music industry.”

Senate Spokesman Rules Out Third Force, Says 2023 Elections Between APC, PDP.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee of Media and Public Affairs, Senator Ajibola Basiru, on Wednesday, ruled out any third political force, noting that the 2023 elections will be a contest between the ruling All Progressives Congress and the leading opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly spoke on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ current affairs programme monitored by The PUNCH.
Specifically, Basiru said the Rescue Nigeria Project unveiled on Tuesday by ex-Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega; foremost Nigerian Professor of Political Economy, Pat Utomi, alongside several politicians, would fail.

According to him, an “assemblage of failed politicians” cannot say they want to rescue Nigerians or give a third force to the country in 2023.
“The so-called Special Rescue Project is a special purpose vehicle which is bound to fail and it would fail definitely,” he stated.

Continuing, Basiru said, “As far as I am concerned, you can mark today’s date, nothing serious would come out of the so-called effort that is put in place.”
“In this country, setting up political parties have become business and for some people, they set up political parties to have opportunities of speaking on national television, some opportunities to also relate with other politicians and get something or the other but they are not really serious politicians.
“As far as I am concerned today, if electoral contest is anything to go about today, you can only mention political parties like APC, PDP, APGA –may be in a particular state, and some splinter parties.

“The truth is that the 2023 election is going to be about a choice between the APC, my political party and the party of President Muhammadu Buhari, and the PDP. The other people, the third force, there was a time some people even named their own political party, Mega Political Party, at the end of the day, Mega Political Party never had a councillor not to talk of a chairman.
“I want to say with all sense of responsibility that it is wrong to say that the APC should be thrown away. My party, the APC has brought quantum development in all aspects,” the Senator stated.
“We are the best that has ever happened to the country since 1999 and we are going to continue to provide leadership to the country beyond 2023. I am very confident about that,” he stated.
But reacting on the television programme, Yunusa Tanko, a member of the National Consultative Front, the group which unveiled the Rescue Nigeria Project, lambasted the Senator for his “grandstanding”.

Tanko insisted that his group was bent on rescuing Nigerians who are tired of the economic, security and general governance failures of the ruling APC.

Everton’s James Rodriguez Joins Al-Rayyan.

Colombia midfielder James Rodriguez left Everton to join Qatari club Al-Rayyan for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday after falling out of favour at the Premier League club.
With the transfer window in the Middle East still open until the end of the month, Rodriguez travelled to Qatar to tie up his move at the weekend.

Confirming the deal, a statement on Everton’s website said: “James Rodriguez has left Everton to sign for Qatari club Al Rayyan for an undisclosed fee.”
Everton manager Rafael Benitez described Rodriguez’s imminent departure as a “special situation” after the club’s League Cup defeat at QPR on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old started brightly at Goodison Park following his much-hyped £20 million ($27 million) transfer from Real Madrid in 2020.
But Carlo Ancelotti, in charge at Everton until the end of last season, gradually lost faith in the playmaker.

Benitez arrived in the close-season and did not use Rodriguez in a single game before sanctioning his sale.
Rodriguez, once regarded as a potential superstar during his time in Madrid, left Everton having made 26 appearances and scored six goals.

Rivers Lawmakers Lament Dtate’s Exclusion From Buhari’s Loans Requests

The Rivers State National Assembly Caucus has described the loans being requested by the President, Major General Muhammadu (retd.), as unconstitutional and discriminatory in approach and scope.
They stated this in a statement on Wednesday, titled ,”Rivers NASS caucus kicks against Buhari’s loans, declaring it unconstitutional, discriminatory”
The statement was signed by their caucus leaders, Senator George Sekibo and Kingsley Chinda.
Buhari had written the National Assembly on resumption from its annual recess last week requesting its approval for fresh loans of $4bn and €710m.

The Rivers caucus expressed disappointed with the incessant loans and the manner the projects are indiscriminately distributed among states.
Part of the statement reads, “There’s no equity and fairness in the manner the projects are being distributed, which flagrantly violates the provision of the Constitution.

“The manner and approach so far adopted by the Buhari led Government obviously violates Sections 16(1) and 16(2)
“From all indications, the Buhari government has deliberately deleted Rivers State from Nigeria, as all the loans being requested no single project was attached to Rivers and you do not want the state to collect its hard earned VAT as guaranteed by the Constitution.

“You don’t even need to be a lawyer to know that VAT is not in item 58 and 59 of the second schedule of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

“Everybody knows that it is not even in the Concurrent list. Therefore, it falls under the Residual list. It is not arguable.
” That yesterday nothing happened does not mean that today nothing will happen, or tomorrow something will not happen.
“Nigeria should encourage states to be strong enough to have resources to develop their states.
“We are in a Federal system where we are practicing unitary system. Everybody at the end of the month will run to Abuja to share money. Nobody comes back to the State to think, how do I develop my State.”
“It’s appalling and disappointing that the Buhari led Government could be this petty in the distribution of projects without capturing a federating unit for no just reason.
“The Rivers caucus in NASS will not sit on the fence and watch this discriminatory and unconstitutional system of administration of what duly belongs to all Nigerians to a select few.”

Doing Good Last Forever And Doing Evil Also last Forever -Uncle Yinka

I was at a mentor’s office few days ago, a self made man, top notch Electrical Engineer, one of the best in the country.

It’s been a while I saw him, so I decided to check on him and say hi.

To his office I was a regular visitor, so the secretary was like “Uncle Yinka where is my cake? I saw the pictures of the Twins on Facebook.

“I will bring it when next I come. However is egbon around? I asked.

“Yes but he has one visitor,” she replied.

I won’t take his time I just want to tell him I have submitted the proposals he asked me to give one permanent secretary at the secretariat.

I stepped into the inner office and saw him crying and laughing at the time, a young boy in NYSC uniform was sitting in front of him.

The young man was almost in tears too, wiping his face with his handkerchief..

My mind travelled to different scenarios…

I walked towards him and said..

“Good afternoon Sir”

He was laughing and tears was falling from his eyes really hard.

“Yinka, come, come, come and see who I saw.

He beckoned..

Did you do remember the story of Joyce B, that I told you sometimes ago?

Yes I do…

One thing with my mentor was that anyone meeting him for the first time will surely hear the Joyce B story, that name is a popular name, in the story of his life hustle and how he became a rich man.

When he told me the story he said….

Just before the advent of chicken and chips there is aunty Joyce B who fires plantain, yam, potatoes and fish close to University of Lagos second gate in the evenings at Onike.

In those days, students who don’t feel like cooking but want to eat something delicious will go to Joyce B to buy akara and bread and other fried edibles, she will start frying at her spot by 6pm till late in the night. It was in the early nineties, then there was no GSM, to communicate people usually write letters and send it via the post office, few people have land lines in their house, telephone was affordable only by the rich.

My mentor, then a student of the University of Lagos, said before he became a regular customer then at Joyce B spot, he was coming from fellowship one day very hungry, he had some cups of gari in the room but nothing else to add to it, has he was passing by this Akara seller, the aroma called him, but he had no money to buy, transfixed, he stood there watching the woman at work, later she raised her head and saw him, like she knew what he wanted, she just put small balls of fried Akara in a paper wrapped it in a nylon and beckon on him.

“Student, please take this, I know you are hungry, I do see you passing by going to church sometimes, please take it.” She said.

He said “the hunger in my belly couldn’t let me refuse so it”, thereafter, he became a regular customer, if I have money, I will buy when I don’t have, she will give me on credit, whenever am broke, aunty Joyce B will help me out, She did not know me at all, but she took me like her own, she was very kind to me, she will allow me to eat on credit, sometimes lend me money, even give me food stuffs, not that she was wealthy, she was just a kind woman.

She told my mentor that she couldn’t go to school because her father doesn’t believe in training female children, but she wish that her children should go to school.

She had two children Joyce and John, then Joyce was in primary 6 while John was about two years old.

My Mentor graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering went on to serve, travelled abroad for further studies, got employment, worked and became over time successful.

He never forgot the kindness of aunty Joyce B.

He said in later years he deliberately went to Onike to look for her, but, she was not at her usual spot….

He couldn’t locate her at her residence, he was told she had relocated to the East after the death of her husband.

Much has he tried look for her, there was no forwarding address, he tried all he could to find her, but, to no avail he was dejected that every effort proved abortive.

However, he never forgot her kindness.

I remembered the story because it was a common anthem when I first met him. I have never met aunty Joyce B in person but I know her story.

” Kilode ti e sukun, why are you in tears? I asked him.”

He looked at me and said Yinka if I tell you this is John the little boy who those days at Onike, normally play with sand at his mother’s spot, he just graduated from University of Nigeria. Nsukka.

Pointing to the young man sitting in front of him.

Guess what he studied”

“Electrical Engineering.”

I replied.

“How did you Know?” He smiled and continued..

“When he walked into my office, I thought I saw a ghost, why?

He is the exact replica of his mother. The only difference is that he is a man.

I said to him instantly your mother is Joyce B, she once lived in Lagos…

I brought out the only picture of his mother that I always carry with me.

His answered was yes. That was the reason I was laughing and crying at the same time when you walked in. I just met him now, now and am doing catch up.

“Yinka, please sit”.

I sat.

He turned to John and said…

“The last time I saw you then, you were playing with sand”

“Yes”

Where is your mother?

“She is late.”

He banged his table so hard

“What!”

“What killed her?”

“She died of breast cancer few years ago shortly after we relocated to Imo state. Due to the death of our father. John replied.

“Your mother was a good woman…

Part of whatever I become today was due to God, my parents and your mother. I remembered times that I will have nothing to eat, it was your mother who feed me, help me and sort me little change till they send money to me. During Abacha’s time my parents were finding it very difficult to make ends meet. It was your mother that lend me the money for my final year project. The same project that got me a scholarship for further studies in America.

I can never forgot your mother’s kindness.

“Are you looking for NYSC placement?”

“No sir, I was posted to a school but the schools are on holiday so I was looking a firm where I can volunteer without pay and put to use the skills I learnt in school. I will finish service by February next year, but, I have 3days in the week which am free and I intend to use that here.” He replied.

“Well, it’s obvious you already have a job, don”t worry you will not only volunteer but will work with us. Immediately you are ready please resume as a trainee Engineer..”

“Where is your sister Joyce?”

“She is at Ebonyi state she is into palm oil business, it was the proceeds she used in sending me to school.”

Give me her number….

0805331…..

Immediately he called her, introduced himself and put it in speaker..

Hello Joyce this is uncle Wale, I use to eat at your mommy’s shop at Onike.

“Can you remember uncle wale”

Uncle wale! Uncle wale? Yes I do, I do sir!

Yes.. I do sir

Uncleeeee wale!”

My mother always talk about you. Where have you been sir?”

I heard the other person screaming out loud at the other end.

“John walked into my office this afternoon, don’t worry he is in good hands..”

I will see to his welfare, your mother was a good woman, I can’t repay her act of kindness but I will try. He just told me now that she has pass on to the great beyond, may God bless and rest her soul. Amen.

Please send your account number, let me send to you some token. It’s good to hear your voice, please text me your account number, as soon as you drop this call. Please..”

“Yes sir, I will, thank you sir. My mother used to talk about you, how brilliant you are and that God will make a way for you. It’s good to hear from you sir after so many years, haaa uncle Wale..”

“Please text the account number, also saved this number and call me anytime you want, if you need anything don’t hesitate to tell me, please,” he requested again.

I will, I will… Thank you sir then she ended the call.

He said…

“John, please go and give the secretary your documents tell her to take you to the Human Resources for all documentation. I will take it up from there.

He turned to me and said

” Yinka! doing good will last, doing evil will last, it’s only the creator that knows the human that will live long.

A simple act of kindness has the power to transform the world. Over twenty years ago her mother was good to me and I couldn’t repay her kindness, she wasn’t even expecting me to repay her, she was just a good person.

Yinka, do good to people no matter what, you don’t know where you will meet your helpers in life, if not because of yourself, do it for your children, you can never know or say where they are going.

Remember no act of kindness is lost, if you don’t gain it, just remember your children.

Do good to people.”

God has blessed me so much, by the time he finish service, he would have gathered enough experience here, I will sponsor his Masters program to any university, anywhere in this world, except he doesn’t want to go. That’s my plan for him.

That’s is my plan and trust me I will execute it by God’s grace.”

For now I will start with a salary of graduate trainee for him.

When we were through with our discussion, I returned to the car and something struck me, Some people have made head start in life not because they are the best or the most brilliant, simply doors of favour was opened to them by the kind deeds of parents in the past.

John’s path in life has become clearer and blessed just because of his late mother’s kindness.

As a graduate trainee in my mentor’s firm his salary is in six figures, how many of his mates will have such opportunity. A mother’s kindness is paving way for her son after twenty years.

Therefore as you go on in life never judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the kind seeds you plant. You don’t know who will eat the good fruit.

Be kind, it’s pays..

The Displayed Of My Mock Coffin Publicly Traumatised My Mother – Goodluck Jonathan

Re-View.

Photographs Of My Mock Coffin Traumatised My Mother Who Lost Eight Children, Says GEJ.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says pictures of his mock coffin displayed in the media during the anti-fuel subsidy removal protests of 2012 traumatised his aged mother who had lost eight children.Jonathan said this in his recently published book titled, My Transition Hours. The former President said, “The protests continued unabated.

In all of these, one woman I pitied most was my aged mother who was with me in the State House.“Every day, she watched on television protesters carrying a casket with my picture on it and having the inscription ‘Rest In Peace.’“I could imagine her trauma. This is a woman who had 10 live births with only my elder sister and I

surviving.”Jonathan said during the protests, several notable Nigerians visited him, asking him to reverse the increment in the pump price of petrol.

Some of the prominent Nigerians who visited him include: General-Overseer, Living Faith Mission (Winners Chapel) Bishop David Oyedepo; Primate of the Anglican Church, Rt.Rev Nichola Okoh and eight other clerics.

He said what was more disheartening was the fact that the opposition in Lagos had hijacked the protests.Jonathan added that even the Nigeria Labour Congress which had been briefed on the matter before the subsidy removal was announced was co-opted into joining the protests.

The former President added, “In Lagos State for instance, it was like a carnival. Musicians, comedians and other celebrities were engaged by opposition elements to join the protests. Refreshments were served to protesters.

“Every morning Lagos State government workers cleaned up the Gani Fawehinmi Park and prepared it for the day’s protests. It appeared as though the protesters were very special guests of the Lagos State Government.

Similar scenarios played out in other opposition controlled states.”Jonathan further stated that the House of Representatives, which was led by pro-opposition Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, decided to exploit the situation.

He said the House accused him of fleeing the country in a bid to exploit the situation for political gain.

The former President added, “The House of Representatives whose Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, was hobnobbing with the opposition (he eventually defected to the opposition) did not help matters.“Thinking that I had left the country for South Africa to attend the centenary celebration of the African National Congress, Speaker Tambuwal convened the House to sit on a Sunday just to condemn the deregulation.“That was the first and only time in Nigeria’s political history that the parliament sat on a Sunday. At that sitting, an opposition member of the House got up to allege that I had abandoned the nation at such a crucial time to join festivities in South Africa.

“Unknown to the House, on that same day while they were sitting, I was at Eagle Square to inaugurate mass transit vehicles my administration purchased to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal.”

ARARAUME: Has Buhari Declared War On Uzodimma? – Collins Opurozor

Chief Hope Uzodinma recently fought almost with his life to stop Senator Ifeanyi Araraume from returning to the Senate. The reason was simple: an Araraume in the Senate would portend danger to the political survival of Uzodinma’s feeble, unstable and wobbling regime.

Araraume, a serial and unrepentant governorship contender, as Uzodinma came to believe, only wanted the Senate as a ladder to his high gubernatorial hill. So, stopping Araraume’s rise would offer regime security to Uzodinma in the interim and make his renomination as the flag bearer of the APC seamless or less chaotic in the next electoral cycle. So, Araraume was stopped.

Two weeks ago, Uzodinma, after twenty-eight days of intense lobbying in Abuja which gulped untold sums of money, succeeded at bringing President Mohammadu Buhari to Imo State. The presidential visit turned out to be the biggest embarrassment Buhari has received all through his adult life. Apart from meeting completely empty streets in Owerri, he was shown a gutter, something that looks exactly like a rabbit hole, to commission. For Buhari, he never expected what he saw.

Interestingly, Uzodinma had a few months ago screamed and announced to the world, “Kumbaya, everybody, kumbaya! My magic wand has made millions of people in Imo State to register with the APC!” So, the least Buhari had expected to meet and greet were those millions of people, the new party faithful. And the retired Major General and National Leader of the APC saw nobody.

In his address briefly after the fruitless search for projects to commission, Buhari shrugged and wept to the hearing of everyone. He said, “I thought I was going to see the roads, the bridges and the flyovers.” And he saw nothing! Continuing in his parting remarks, the President, a man of few words, found clear and unambiguous words to express his disappointment, anger, disgust and shock. He said to Uzodinma, “I’ll be careful with your future invitations.” That statement summed up Buhari’s assessment of Uzodinma’s regime – a disaster-in-progress
and a failure undeserving of presidential attention and visit.

On his return to Abuja, topmost on Buhari’s mind became a necessity to dismantle the tyranny of Uzodinma in Imo APC as a prelude to his eventual political obliteration. The President quickly invited Senator Rochas Okorocha for a private chat. Recall that Okorocha and Uzodinma are actively engaged in a full-blown war. And, a few days later, President Buhari announced another of Uzodinma’s most dreaded foes, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, as Board Chairman of the NNPC. This appointment, ill-timed for the shaky regime in Imo, is a declaration of war on Uzodinma by President Buhari.

There has been weeping in the political household of Uzodinma since this appointment was announced. There has also been gnashing of teeth. It is as if the doomsday is here. Not even the death of Ahmed Gulak, or the death of Abba Kyari, or the removal of Adams Oshiomhole, was mourned in this manner. For twenty-four hours, the propaganda machinery of the regime could not come up anything. At last, a lie, a very attractive but deeply illogical and politically incorrect one, propped up.

They are now saying that the appointment of Araraume is one of the benefits of Buhari’s visit to Imo State. This is one way they wish to nurse the wound and seek relief from the glaringly painful defeat they are suffering in a political war that just began. By such lie, they also wish to sustain internal allegiance to a regime that is fast collapsing. But this, too, has exposed them for whom they are and laid bare their reign of lies in Imo. Truth has taken flight from the governance of Imo State!

Remember how thousands of Imo youths were lured to Dan Anyiam Stadium with a promise of financial empowerment. Did Uzodinma empower any of them at last? Remember how Uzodinma brags that insecurity in Imo has been permanently addressed. Is there any week shootings and killings don’t take place in Orlu? Remember how Uzodinma claims to have solved 80% of the menace of flooding using his phantom and absurd balloon technology. Was the entire city of Owerri not submerged in flood just yesterday? Remember the tales of payment of salaries and pensions. Was Uzodinma, through his Accountant General, in a leaked memo not requesting for details of thousands of workers who have remained unpaid since March 2020?

Sen. Rochas Okorocha

Remember the claim by Uzodinma that 35,000 youths have been employed at Adapalm. Did you not watch the interview on BBC Igbo News where the General Manager of Adapalm came out to lament that the establishment was completely dead and in dire need of attention.

In deed, Imo is in the throes of a dysfunctional and disputed regime, and each day brings a lie which the next day multiplies. But it is no longer a battle of lies. Imo people are now wiser and the days of ruinous misrule are numbered.

Imo ga-adi nma ozo!
