I Don’t Take Social Media For Granted -Gov. Soludo

The social media is a critical infrastructure no serious leader should esteem lightly. Just like life itself, I spend considerable time to read the good, the bad and, if you like, the ugly on this space.

I have also observed the efforts by a few faceless persons who proliferate uncanny information with the intent to spread fear, disinformation and distort the minds of uncritical readers. I call them “mind bugs”, and would like to propose to our people with some sort of strong following, to step into the gap to begin the process of “debugging” by standing up boldly to dispel shared ignorance.

What we consume online is of immense consequence to how we carry on with life on the physical space. There is alot to leverage on this space, a lot to learn and much more to create from the depth of our limitless minds.

Whatever be the case, I have found more reasons to deepen engagements here. Soon, the feedbacks would become more instant. I am also on Twitter and Instagram. Here are the links;

Enugu High Court Sets Aside Policy Of No Refund Of Money After Payment By Service Providers

Enugu State High Court sets aside policy of no refund of money after payment by service providers.

On 28 July 2021, Patrick C Chukwuma, a legal practitioner with the law firm of Eze, Dimude, Eze & Co filed a suit against Peace Mass Transit Limited challenging the laters policy of “no refund of money after payment”.

The incident that led to the suit occured on 10/2/2021 when the Plaintiff purchased a ticket from the Obollor-Afor branch of Peace Mass Transit Limited to convey him to Enugu. Following a two hours delay occasioned by the absence of passengers, the Plaintiff returned to the ticketing office and asked for a refund of the #500 he paid as the transportation fare.

Staff of the Defendant however refused to refund the money, insisting that their company policy was that money paid for transport fare cannot be returned to the passenger and citing the statement written on their ticket to that effect as conclusive proof of their position.

When Barr. Chukwuma tried to explain to them that their policy was unlawful, as the law mandates them to refund fares for services that have not been provided they retorted in a rude manner, prompting the learned counsel to leave their park and seek alternative means of traveling back to Enugu.

A letter written by the lawyer to Peace Mass Group of companies demanding and apology and refund was neglected prompting the lawyers law firm to institute suit number: E/514/2021 Patrick Chukwunwike Chukwuma v Peace Mass Transit Limited.

The suit asked the court to determine a sole question which was “whether the Defendant’s policy of “no refund of money after payment” is in violation of Section 120 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 especially when the contractual obligation to convey the Plaintiff to his preferred location was terminated”.

The Plaintiff through his team of lawyers led by Barr. Tochukwu Odo amongst other grounds argued that the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 is the primary law on questions of consumer transaction in Nigeria and that by virtue of section 120 of the law, the consumer has a right to cancel any advance booking, reservation or order for any goods or services subject only to the deduction of a reasonable charge by the service provider.

The Defendant through their counsel Barr Titus Odo raised technical arguments on the jurisdiction of the court and mode of commencement of the suit.

Hon. Justice C. O. Ajah of the High Court of Justice in his judgment delivered on 7 April 2022, promptly dismissed the objections of the Defendant and upheld the arguments of the Plaintiff.

The Hon. Judge after a thorough analysis of the provisions of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 vis a vis the conduct of the parties in the case decided that indeed the policy of no refund of money after payment is illegal, null and void in light of the provisions of Sections 120, 104, 129(1)(a) and (b) (iii) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018.

The court thereafter made a declaration that the refusal of the Defendant to refund the Plaintiff the money paid for the transportation fee from Obollor-Afor to Enugu on 10/2/2021 is unlawful. The court further ordered the Defendant to pay the sum of #500,000 as damages to the Plaintiff.

This case puts service providers on notice that more Nigerians are now alive to their rights as citizens and will not hesitate to enforce same should the need arise.

It also puts an end to the menace of service providers who collect money from consumers and refuse to refund same when they don’t offer the services for which the money was collected on the first place.

We Have Extended Olive Branch To All Genuine Agitators -Gov. Soludo

We have extended the olive branch to all genuine agitators, and made extensive calls for those in the bush to come out and shun criminality.

How do you explain to any sane mind that “responsible citizens” have elected to pursue a supposed legitimate course adopting criminal strategies of kidnapping, arson and murder? This is despicable, not permissible and against any known law of humanity.

Yesterday, security operatives smoked out some criminal camps at Ogboji and Aguluezechukwu, and the reprisal is the burning of Aguata LGA Headquarters by some of the fleeing criminals. Part of the items found in these criminal hideouts is a register of kidnap victims and the ransom paid. This is not who we are, never can we, under any guise allow criminals the latitute to define who we are.

Ndi Anambra are irrepressible. They are out to reclaim their land. To restore peace, and set the pace for the building of a Liveable and Prosperous Homeland. I repeat, anyone in the bush with a gun is a criminal and would be fiercely resisted by the people.

Inaugural Address Of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Governor Of Anambra State

17th March, 2022

PROTOCOL

Umunne m Ndi Anambra,
I applied for this job; my party, (the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA) shortlisted me, and you—umunne m Ndi Anambra— interviewed and employed me as your chief servant, with Dr. Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim as my deputy.

God ordained this moment and we are grateful to Him and to you all for the privilege to serve you. Dr. Ibezim and I will work hard every day to make you proud.

I ask millions of Ndi Anambra all over the world who have prayed for today to simply say a one minute prayer to commit this journey and Anambra State unto the hands of the Almighty God. Anambra will win.

Before I go further, let’s pay special tributes to hundreds of thousands of our friends and supporters who worked tirelessly to see us to this moment.

It is not possible to list all of you here. I remember with deep sense of grief the three gallant police officers —-Inspector Murtala Saudi, Sgt Mudassir Ahmed, and Sgt Samuel Ishaya— who lost their lives to the Unknown Gunmen who attacked us at a meeting with the youths in my village last year. We pledge to continue to take care of their families.

Let me particularly thank my friend and outgoing governor of Anambra, HE (Sir) Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano, for being an honourable gentleman and leader. On Sunday, 20th November, 2016, I accepted your proposal for gentlemen’s understanding and partnership.

I kept my part in 2017 and even after five years, you still kept yours in 2021. I always emphasize this point because it is rare these days to find people who keep their word in politics, and we will never take your support for granted. You are indeed a great leader. Thanks for believing in me. We will work hard to make you and Ndi Anambra proud.

To our indefatigable national Chairman, Ozonkpu (Dr) Victor Ike Oye, your visit of 27th August 2016 and unwavering support remain historical.

I will continue to thank all our party members especially the members of the Board of Trustees (BOT), National Executive Committee ( NEC), State, LG and Ward Excos, Campaign Committees at all levels, etc, for the massive support.

I am grateful to all the stakeholders of the Anambra Project—the clergy and the church, traditional rulers, Association of Anambra Town Unions (ASATU), labour, market, trade and professional unions, youth and women organizations, non-indigenes associations, businessmen and captains of industry, the Diaspora community, persons with disabilities, etc.

We thank especially the 41 self-funding support groups who propelled this movement. Our donors and the goodwill of other Nigerian stakeholders made a significant difference.

Thanks immensely to the 150 star-studded Transition Committee chaired by our own Dr (Mrs) Oby Ezekwesili. Let me once again put on record our debt of gratitude to the federal institutions—the judiciary, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies for insisting on a transparent and credible electoral system.

Eternal gratitude goes to President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and The Presidency for remaining democrats.

In particular, I thank my wife, Nonye Frances Soludo, and children: Ozonna, Ifeatu, Chinua, Ekene, Oduko and Zikora for their love and sacrifices.

Despite your deep reservations, you still allowed and supported me to step out in the service of our people. As I repeatedly promised, I will work hard every day never to disappoint you. My 90-year old father is watching this live, while my late beloved mother, Mgbafor, is smiling in her grave.

Today is my first day at work. I just reported for duty and will work for at least eight hours. We had more than a month since the election to celebrate our historic victory. Now is the time to work, and there is no minute or kobo to waste in fanfare.

In a few minutes, I will announce some of the principal officers of the administration, and commence with serious meetings of the Anambra State Security Council, followed by

a meeting with the permanent secretaries, a meeting on Okpoko, and with my Strategy, Execution and Evaluation (SEE) team.

Within the next one week, the list of commissioners will be laid before the House of Assembly. Tomorrow, we will head to Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area and parts of Onitsha and Idemili as we signpost our commitment to fundamental urban regeneration, beginning with the greater Onitsha metropolis.

As I stand here, I feel the weight of history. I stand on the foundation laid especially by our elected predecessors— Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe GCFR, PC, Dr Michael.I. Okpara, Chief Jim Nwobodo, Chief Christian C. Onoh, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Dr Chris Ngige, OON, Mr Peter Obi, CON, and yes, our own Chief (Sir) Willie M. Obiano. You all did your best and well for our people, and I salute you all.

As I wear the APGA muffler on my neck, I feel the weight of Africa’s historic progressives like the Great Zik of Africa, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, Dr M.I. Okpara, Malam Aminu Kano, Chief Joseph Tarka, Malam Balarabe Musa, Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, etc. Not to talk of the millions of living African progressives, who still dream of Renascent Africa. We will never let them down.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance ( (initially set up as the United Progressives Grand Alliance UPGA) is a nostalgic rebirth of the grand alliance of progressives in the First Republic comprising Azikiwe’s NCNC, Awolowo’s AG, Joseph Tarka’s United Middle Belt Congress, Aminu Kano’s Northern Elements Progressive Union NEPU, etc. As the first true progressive party in Nigeria since 1999, our ideology is a combination of Zik’s neo welfarism, Awolowo’s scientific socialism, and Aminu Kano’s democratic humanism, to form what we see as the Pan African market progressivism.

It is a Pan Africanist ideology that integrates the social democratic values with the principles of competitive markets. Anambra under our watch will mirror this ideology, and we believe that this should be Nigeria’s compass to the future. We will seek active collaboration and cooperation with the Federal Government, our neighbouring and other states as well as the international community to provide our state truly people-centred governance. We will consolidate the progress made under our predecessors to continue Anambra’s upward trajectory.

Today, I stand up for the millions of Ndi Anambra for whom this mandate means everything. The hopes and expectations rise up to the heavens. Understandably, all of us wish that I could perform miracles – by waving my hands and all our problems will be solved. I hear you. I feel your pulse. For your sake I keep awake at night, sometimes having palpitations about not letting you down. Well, since God is the Miracle Worker, I will look up to Him in prayer and faith as we all start the work ahead of us. I see and feel all the humungous challenges. I know the lean financial base of the state. I know the limitations imposed upon a subnational state such as Anambra by the peculiar structure of our federation. But here’s my promise: I will give it my all. I will work very hard every day, with you, to make Anambra proud. Every kobo of your tax money will be deployed to provide you maximum value.

People ask me why we are not celebrating today as it has become customary. My response is that we all—party members, supporters, family and friends– celebrated in thanksgiving and prayers after you decided to employ me last November 6 and 9. But today, my first day at work, is not a day for celebration. First, there is no venue that can contain the tens of thousands of Ndi Anambra and friends all over the world who would wish to join us on this historic occasion. Second, the State cannot afford any such expensive ceremonies.

Third, and as a matter of personal philosophy and as a true progressive, I do not subscribe to using the paltry tax collected from the women selling pepper on the roadside or the okada/keke drivers on a fleeting fanfare and banquet.

I insisted that this event must not cost the government of Anambra one kobo. I would rather use such resources to lay the foundation stone for a public hospital at Okpoko or elsewhere or empower our security agents to fight criminality. Today, I come with a sober heart, conscious of the enormity of responsibilities on our shoulders and the challenges ahead.

Yes, there will be a time to celebrate. We will celebrate when: security of life and property is guaranteed and law and order restored; every child of schooling age is in school; every school child is receiving the 21st century education for the digital age; everyone, especially children and women can access quality healthcare; the cost of doing business is down to near zero; our roads are tarred and we have an efficient transportation system with no one having to wait in traffic for more than a few minutes; we have access to 24 hour electricity; our streets are clean and green; our cities, communities and markets are planned and cleaned; the many millions of Charlie Nwamgbafors and the vulnerable persons are lifted up to realize their God given potential; all our pensioners receive their gratuities;, workers are paid their leave allowances and contractors are paid; our youth can get jobs and business opportunities; the youth in Okpoko ‘Zone 9’ become global serial entrepreneurs; poverty is near zero and income levels rising…etc. Yes, I will not celebrate, and certainly not with the tax payers’ money.

Umunne m Ndi Anambra!
I come to this job prepared to serve you. For 12 years since 2009 when I first indicated interest to serve you, I persevered through the turbulent politics and here we are. Once again, I present to you the Soludo Solution—our contract with the people which we intend to vigorously implement subject to resource availability.

Our contract with Anambra people derives from three seminal documents: (a) “Anambra Vision 2070—a 50-Year Development Plan” which I chaired the drafting; (b) “The Soludo Solution: A People’s Manifesto for a Greater Anambra”; and (c) “The Transition Committee (Combined) Report”—which built upon the first two.

In sum, this is an agenda for an itinerant tribe in search of a livable and prosperous homeland. Driven by the philosophy of One Anambra, One People, One Agenda, our goal is to build Anambra into a livable and prosperous smart megacity. We aim to transit beyond petroleum into the digital world of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and envision Anambra as an industrial, technology, and leisure/entertainment hub of West Africa.

Our detailed Plan rests on five key pillars: law and order (homeland peace and security); economic transformation as Nigeria’s next axis of industrial-tech and leisure; competitive and progressive social agenda (education, health, youth, women and vulnerable groups); Governance, rule of law and a rebirth of our value system; and aggressively tackling our existential threat posed by the environment—towards a clean, green, planned and sustainable cities, communities, and markets. For me, this agenda is also personal: I am here to build a society where I would be proud to live in after leaving office.

Ndi be anyi, what we propose is that we collectively build a new social and economic order that guarantees and defends economic freedom and reward of private enterprise to secure our future such that any child born in Anambra will have little incentive to rush elsewhere in search of opportunities and anyone persecuted anywhere in the world can return to a happy and prosperous homeland. Such a new order will, of necessity, entail a massive disruptive change and creative destruction, with short-term pains but guaranteed long-term benefits. As a humane and progressive government, we shall strive to deliver the difficult change with a human face

.

As we transit into a non-oil economy, our strategy is a small open economy framework embedded in 21st Century imperative of Everything Technology: we seek to bring the world to Anambra and take Anambra to the world especially in the context of the African continental free trade area (AfCFTA). Our “Made in Anambra” and “Anambra Standards” agenda underpin this strategy. If you can produce it in Anambra, I will be your chief marketing officer, provided that your standard meets the “Anambra standard”—which is excellence. The Anambra State Government will only patronize Made in Anambra products and services unless such goods or services are not currently made in Anambra, then made in Nigeria, Africa, etc, in that sequence. When you see me in Innoson vehicles or in my Akwete dress with a pair of shoes made in Ogbunike/Nkwelle Ezunaka and Onitsha, we are making a statement.

Today, the light refreshment to be served after this brief event is abacha from Umunze, ukwa from Isuofia, Anambra rice with ofe akwu, nkwu enu from Awgbu, ngwo from Awa and Oba, and malt and bottled water from Onitsha.

As part of our “made in Anambra”, cultural renaissance and healthy living agenda, when you come to the Governor’s Lodge or attend any state government’s function, be sure to be served only “Made in Anambra”. We want to go back to where M.I. Okpara stopped with the palm revolution and plant millions of palm trees. In some years, we will seek not only to export palm produce but also fresh palm wine from Anambra State.

We will seek active collaboration with the federal government not only to export manufactured and agricultural products, but also services (especially tech, leisure/entertainment, and skills/talents as we seek an educational system whose products are productive at home and exportable). Anambra’s greatest resource is our human capital, and we shall grow and mine this resource to its maximum, leveraging on technology.

We will soon inaugurate the Anambra Innovation and Technology Advisory Council to drive the emergence of the digital tribe and mainstreaming technology and innovation across all aspects of our lives, our International Investment Council, our Global Friends of Anambra in Development, as well as the Council on the Ease of Doing Business.

We will conduct local government elections. No doubt, the uniform local government system as the third federating unit is one of the contested features of our federalism. But we must make the best of a bad system, by unleashing the potential of governance at the lower levels. Over the next two years, we shall review/amend the relevant legislations, reform and strengthen the system for efficiency, restructure/strengthen the Anambra’s Independent Electoral Commission, and conduct local government elections. We will collaborate and coordinate actively with LGAs to ensure synergy and complementarities. Let the revolution get to the grassroots.

We shall reinvigorate and mainstream the public-community-private partnership (PCPP) – as a veritable framework for service delivery and development. We will develop pragmatic frameworks for private sector and communities to: adopt schools, build roads/infrastructure, manage government assets, receive and manage development matching grants; participate in sanitation and securing law and order, etc. There is a subtle but powerful revolution underway, raising the bar on our age-old community development model.

Yes, every community embarks upon community development. Besides the well-known Nnewi model, some communities such as Neni and Adazi Ani are showing new examples. At Neni, an individual has tarred 18 kilometres of road (together with others at 24 kilometres in the community) and they are now refurbishing and empowering public schools in their community; an individual in Adazi Ani has done 13 kilometres and wants to surpass the Neni record. The Government will provide a framework to incentivize and unleash the momentum of this new phenomenon at the village/community levels.

Our government is committed to promoting the expeditious dispensation of justice especially the prompt resolution of commercial disputes. We shall collaborate with the Chief Judge and his colleagues to significantly improve the physical and technological infrastructure of the courts, and hopefully also implement some structural reforms to fast-track the path to justice and make Anambra the number one in the speedy dispensation of justice and ease of doing business.

Part of our future is in our past. We will mainstream our values of hard work, integrity, compassion, and sanctity of life. The fringe but destructive minority which embodies the “get rich quick by all means” philosophy, cultism, drug addiction, blood-letting criminality, kidnapping, etc do not represent us, and cannot define us. As a new social order and “everything technology” philosophy take life, many unproductive systems will give way. There will be new and better ways of managing our parks and markets, different and better ways of collecting government revenue, managing waste, and general service delivery to citizens.

The land registry will be digitized; we shall leverage technology to ensure a responsive and accountable public service together with our initiative for an ID Card for every Anambra person wherever he/she may be; and a code of conduct for political appointees to mainstream servant leadership by example.

We must rid Onitsha and all our roads and markets of revenue touts and make shopping in Anambra a pleasurable experience. Today, I will sign an executive order to suspend all revenue contracts operating in the parks, markets and roads until we put in place a new system within the next four weeks. Consequently as from tomorrow, 18th March, 2022, if anyone asks you to pay CASH to him as revenue to the government in the parks, markets and roads, such a person must be a thief. Market unions must also stop harassing customers.

We shall embark upon massive training and social re-engineering to wean people off the old unproductive ways. As a humane government, we shall endeavor to offer alternative opportunities to the revenue touts. Over the next two years, many will complain that “it is not the way we do it”, but we can’t repeat the same thing and expect a different result. During the coming months, we shall embark upon bold but difficult reforms and these reforms may be unpopular especially among those benefitting from the existing order. For sure, the revenue and park mafia that rake in billions of government revenue into their private pockets won’t be happy. But we commit to doing the right things. And we plead for your understanding, patience and cooperation. By His grace, Anambra will win!

But Anambra State is a subnational entity, within the context of Nigeria’s unitary-federalism. The speed of its progress is in part dependent upon both the threats and opportunities inherent in such a system. The ongoing Constitutional amendment at the National Assembly is welcome, albeit that some of the proposals merely tinker at the margins and attempting to do more of the same. The subnational states need to be unleashed. For too long, Nigeria has tried a top-down strategy; now is the time to try the bottom-up approach, and that’s part of my motivation. While we debate how far and how fast the devolution and reconfigurations will go, the world is not waiting. As the world transits away from oil into cleaner energy sources and a world of 4th Industrial Revolution, Nigeria needs a fundamentally different rule-book to survive and compete. We will seek to optimize the limited headroom allowed by the current peculiar structure to give our people a new life.

Umunne m Ndi Anambra,
Besides the environment, a fundamental existential threat to our state and indeed Igboland is that of peace building and law and order. We can’t build this homeland by turning the sword against each other. Ndi Anambra love their homeland but the recent upsurge in criminality poses a great threat. My heart bleeds to see and hear about our youth dying in senseless circumstances. Every criminal gang—kidnappers, wicked murderers, arsonists, rapists, thieves— all now claim to be freedom fighters. Criminality cannot be sugarcoated. This must stop.

All the stakeholders must now review both the narrative and the action plan. For starters, I endorse the recent statement (March 7, 2022) by the Joint Body of South East Council of Traditional Rulers and Bishops/Archbishops on Peace and Conflict Resolution, requesting for a tripartite discussion between them, The Presidency, and South East governors to deal with the conflicts in the South East especially in relation to Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN). There is no conflict that dialogue, in good faith, cannot resolve. Our government is determined to urgently restore peace and security in Anambra, and we will seek the active cooperation and collaboration of all stakeholders.

To IPOB/ESN, the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), as well as the disparate armed groups in the forests, it is time to interrogate both the purpose and means of your campaign. To the politicians playing politics with the insecurity, you are riding a tiger. The current trajectory is a road to desolation. Let us get around the table and talk. Let the elite in the closet come out, and let’s debate our future and forge a consensus. The conspiracy of silence by the elite and some community leaders must end. If you see something, say or do something! Securing Igboland and Nigeria must be our collective responsibility. Let those in the forests come out, surrender their guns and let’s work together to rehabilitate and empower you to contribute positively to the peace and prosperity of our homeland

A significant part of our state economy is powered by artisans, keke drivers, vulcanizers, hairdressers, cart pushers, petty traders, bricklayers, women frying akara, and all those who depend upon daily toil and sweat to feed their families. Every day, there is a “sit at home”, these poor masses lose an estimated N19.6 billion in Anambra alone. Due to the protracted breakdown of law and order, businesses are relocating outside Igboland, with growing unemployment, and traders who used to come to shop in Onitsha, Aba etc are going elsewhere. Who is losing? By forcing our children—the future of Igboland—to stay at home instead of being in school, while even the critically sick people (including pregnant women) cannot go to hospital, we harm our future .

I hereby challenge any of the disparate groups that claims that it is not part of the senseless killings and kidnappings to step out and show leadership by joining hands with us to DO something about it. If you love our homeland, there is no place for bloodshed. Our Lord Jesus Christ admonished in Matthew 26: 52: “put your sword back in its sheath, for all who live by the sword will die by the sword”. In the traditional religion, the land places a curse upon those who spill the blood of the innocent.

For me, this issue is personal and emotional. My mother died during the civil war; our last born, Chukwuemeka died during the war; my father bore a bullet inside him for years; my elder brother – at 16, was in the ‘Boys Company’. At 8, I became the “man of the house”, with all the men at the war front. My uncles, cousins, etc, died during the war. This is 2022, and there are certainly far better ways to protest than shedding the blood of the innocent or resorting to criminality.

That is why I call on all of us today to join hands with me to execute the real agenda—a livable and prosperous homeland of opportunities and jobs for our youth while maximizing the benefits of a united Nigeria/Africa. With Ohanaeze’s estimate that some 11.6 million Igbos live in the North and over 7 million in Lagos state and over 70% of our non-land assets scattered all over Nigeria and the world, we need Nigeria and Nigeria needs us. We need Africa and the world and they need us.

Yes, we have heard every genuine agitation for fairness, justice, equity and equality in the Nigerian Federation. No, we refuse to turn our homeland into a crime scene and all manners of criminality. No group has ever succeeded in any struggle in history by turning the sword against themselves. I promise to work hard with other governors and leaders in the South East and others to take your agitations to the table of all Nigeria, and we hope to bargain for a win-win solution for all Nigeria. I will engage all parties to the breakdown of peace and order in Anambra from a point of determination to solve problems and resolve disagreements with openness, integrity, equity and justice. I will absolutely invest my political capital within our State, our South East and with the Presidency, Federal Government and its establishments as a matter of topmost priority. With good faith and hard work by all parties, I am convinced that justice, peace and order will return to Anambra and the South East within the shortest possible horizon.

Umunne m Ndi Anambra, this agenda is premised upon your irrepressible and communal spirit. It is you—the people—that will make it happen. We all love our homeland to death, and we can turn it into whatever we will that it should be. A new servant leadership and a new homeland consciousness by the people will get us there despite the huge challenges. For example, to effectively implement our ambitious agenda, we need annual investment levels of 25- 30% of state gross domestic product (GDP), that is about $2.58 – $3.09 billion. At current levels, public sector investment is less than $100 million per annum. The gap seems daunting, but we are undaunted. The internally generated revenue is barely 0.5% of state GDP.

This presents immense opportunity as well as threat in the context of a rentier culture where the social contract/trust between the citizen and the government is broken, and the people do not believe that they can get value for their taxes. We are determined to change this.

I pledge here again to devote every kobo of your tax money to work for you. This is your government. I am only your employee. I commit to a transparent, accountable, judicious, and impactful use of your tax money. My litmus test for every expenditure will be to ask two questions: a) if this is my hard earned money from work and profit, can I spend it this way? b) Is this the best way to spend the taxes and levies collected from the poor traders and okada riders? If I cannot answer Yes to both questions, then I will hesitate to do so.

On your part, we need a new chapter of active and responsive citizenship, imbued with civic responsibilities and participation. Pay your fair share of tax and sanitation and other levies and try us. I paid my 2021 tax to Anambra (over N10 million). The keke drivers pay over N90,000 per annum; the women selling pepper and hawkers who pay N200 per day average at least N50,000 per annum; etc. What about you—the shop owner/trader, lawyer, doctor, consultant, journalist, professionals, business owner, landlord, etc? You want security, good transport network without traffic, good schools and hospitals, water, clean, green and planned environment, etc. How much do you pay per month/year? Ndi Anambra outside Anambra must creatively pay their taxes in their primary residence—Anambra. With a new homeland consciousness, the estimated over 10 million Ndi Anambra outside the State can collectively turn their homeland into the new axis of prosperity.

In addition to our civic duties as responsible citizens, I call on all of us to go the extra mile in volunteering our time and treasure to create the homeland of our dream. Everybody is important in this journey and I need your help to succeed. We must all strive to die empty—to give our all, in aid of God’s creation. Each day, every Onye Anambra must ask himself or /herself: “what have I done today to make my home state livable and prosperous?” It should be part of our daily devotion. There must be a purpose why God in His infinite wisdom decided to make you Onye Anambra—and that must be to leave it better than you met it. No one is too poor to give or do something for Anambra. If not you, then who; if not now, then when?

As I close my eyes and visualize our future, I can see millions of Ndi Anambra holding hands and working hard for a glorious future; I see the skyscrapers along the banks of River Niger in Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, Ekwulobia, etc. I see a smart megacity with millions of happy and prosperous people. I see us exporting massively to the world and the world coming to Anambra as a preferred destination to live, work, invest, learn, relax and enjoy. History beckons. Seize this moment Ndi Anambra, and together, let us make it count. Anambra: the Light of the Nation shines….!

God bless you all!

Lt.Col. Banjo The Yoruba Biafran Soldier Who Died For Biafra

Lt. Col. Banjo Have you heard of the “Yoruba Biafran?”

Lt. Col. Banjo Have you heard of the “Yoruba Biafran?” Banjo almost captured Lagos for the Biafran Army in 1967, and his failure led to his execution. Some believe that Nigeria’s Civil War, fought between 1967 and 1970, is not a civil war, but a dispute between a set of tribes; Yoruba and Hausa on one and the East on the other. This assertion does not consider people like Lt. Col. Banjo, the Yoruba soldier who rose among the ranks fighting for the Biafran Army and did so until his death at the height of the war. Not much is known about Lt. Col. Banjo’s early life. He was born “Victor Adebukunola Banjo” as an Ijebu-man in Ogun State on April 1, 1930

From Ogun’s foggy towns, he joined the Army as one of a generation of precocious young men in 1953 as Warrant Officer 52. The records state that Banjo was the sixteenth Nigerian to be commissioned as an officer in the Nigerian Army, (NA 16). In those days, Nigerian officers were entitled to training in England or nearby countries, under our colonial tie to Britain. Banjo was a product of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he also obtained a B Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. By the early 1960s, Banjo had risen to become the first Nigerian Director of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps of the Nigerian Army. It was the ideal life. He was a young man in his 30s with a young wife and two children. On January 15, 1966, many of Banjo’s peers executed the decision to take power from the civilian government.

They went on a rampage, killing many national and regional leaders in what we have now simplified into calling the 1966 coup. It is perhaps the most important day in Nigeria’s history. Detention It is also the day when Banjo’s travails began, the day when life decided to throw him through filters and ask questions that make a man wonder what drives him at the core. Shortly after Major-General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi came to power following the 1966 coup, Lt. Col. Banjo was summoned to the office of the newly-selected Supreme Military Commander and was arrested while he was still waiting to see the Head of State.

Few people can say they understand what happened next but Banjo was accused of planning to kill the Head of State, General Aguiyi-Ironsi, and summarily detained. It has been suggested in accounts of that period that Ironsi was simply caught in the middle. The politics of the coup had been very tribal. After a team of largely Igbo soldiers had murdered the majority of the North’s leaders, there was pressure on him. From the North, he was expected to bring the coup plotters to justice. Eastern leaders were pleased that the perceived Northern stranglehold had been broken. Ironsi did not know what to do and the people needed scapegoats. It was not the first time that matters of the tribe would determine the course of his life. Banjo was detained until the Northern counter-coup in the same year. In a different world, Banjo would have been released. But somewhere in the ripple effects of that coup, Banjo tried to stand up for a Yoruba soldier.

Despite protesting his innocence, he was thrown in jail for the second time. He would stay there until May 1967. Letters from Prison It is often said that adversity brings out the best in men. And while he would have flourished undoubtedly outside the prison walls, it was then that Banjo showed the moral fibre and liberal system of beliefs that would make him stand out at the most trying moments in his short life.

Most of these can be seen in his letters. According to the book “A Gift of Sequins”, at the time, Banjo had a young family of four children. He did his best to staying touch and improve what was undoubtedly a hard time through constant letter writing. Banjo’s letters revealed that he had a liberal, non-tribalistic worldview. At the core, he was a man who loved his country and wanted to see his fellow soldiers do much better. Also, read the Funny tweet When the Biafra War began, Banjo had been moved to a prison in the East. Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu, the leader of the new Biafran nation, released him and made him a colonel. Despite his tribe, Banjo sought to fight for the new country against what he saw as institutional tribalism and genocide. Later he would say, “However when l discovered the emerging trend that followed the declaration of Independence of Biafra, it became clear to me that a war with the North was imminent.” “I decided to stay behind and assist in the prosecution of the war, both for the sake of my friendship with Colonel Ojukwu and in the hope that having assisted to fight back the Northern threat to Biafra, he would assist me with troops to rid the Mid-West and Lagos of the same menace.”

There was scepticism about his role in the Biafran Army, but Banjo quickly proved himself to his fellow soldiers and earned their belief. The Yoruba Biafran He proved himself as a master tactician and a fearless soldier, traits that he proved when the Biafran Army attacked Nigeria. When the Nigerian Army invaded Biafra on July 6, 1967, Ojukwu sent Lt. Col. Banjo and Major Albert Okonkwo to invade Nigeria.

Banjo and his team moved quickly. He was able to capture Benin City in less than 24 hours. By the time his division took a break, he and his soldiers were able to get within 300 kilometres of the Nigerian capital Lagos. Something changed when they tried to enter Lagos. The Biafran offensive on Lagos started heavily and with purpose. Reports of that time say it moved at a “lightning-quick speed” but midway, Banjo, along with his fellow commanders, Okonkwo and Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna stopped and turned their army back to Biafra. On getting back to Biafra, Ojukwu had the soldiers detained. It is reported that Ojukwu saw their retreat as an act to sabotage Biafra’s existence. Why they did is not exactly known. Some relations of Ifeajuna have made claims that, as the was war progressed, Banjo and Ifeajuna did not share the idea of a break up of Nigeria.

Their cases were taken to a tribunal. After the first tribunal dismissed the case, a second tribunal sentenced the soldiers to death.

At his sentencing, Banjo said, “ I came into the war at a moment of temporary collapse of the Biafran fighting effort, when it became quite clear to me that the fighting effort of the Biafran Army was not only being incompetently handled, but also being sabotaged.” “Since then, it has been my fortune to command the Biafran troops on their successful exploits.” “On the whole, l had in private, told Col Ojukwu that l could never be made to stand charged for having plotted against his office and his person. There was no plot against him” On September 22, 1967, Banjo, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, and Philip Alale were marched into the Enugu city center and tied to a pole.

A firing squad of Biafran soldiers fired at them. When Banjo was hit, he reportedly yelled defiantly, “I’m not dead yet!” and he had to be shot multiple times before he died. Today, the legacy of the soldiers who fought on both sides has been largely forgotten. But in a country where tribal relations are still harsh, Lt. Col. Banjo set a template for living beyond tribe, for the greater purpose of humanity.

EFCC Turns Owerri City, The Capital Of Ngwori Into Ghost Town -Ifeanyi CY

In the two weeks, agents of the economic and financial crime commission, EFCC, had invaded the city of Owerri like Russia invaded Ukraine.

The Bawa led anti-graft agency of the federal republic of Nigeria had the notoriety of indiscriminately blocking Owerri roads, storming residential areas and students hostels arresting without conscience anybody seen looking healthy.

What a country, where possession of communication gadgets like laptops, iPhone, iPads, or driving flashing cars or wearing designers cloth becomes evident of ones involvement in crime.

I reject and say no to criminalization of imo youths and unpatriotic profiling of Imo youths fraudstars.

The unwholesome activities of the EFCC had crippled the socio-economic life of Imo state.

It’s more painful such uncoordinated attack is coming months after #EndSARS and UnknownGunmen ravaged the socioeconomic life wire of Owerri, the eastern heartland.

The EFCC had ignored the rule of engagement to clap-down on Imo youths and students in guess of arresting Yahoo Boys.

It unfortunate that the supposed anti-graft agency will be blocking the major streets and track roads in Owerri arresting, detaining and forcefully extorting Imo Youths and Nigeria Students schooling in Owerri pretending to be going after Yahoo Boys.

The rule of engagement as enshrined in the EFCC act are not applied. Imo Youths and Students are intimidated, embarrassed, harassed, arrested, detained and extorted millions of naira, forcing them to sign-off their cars, phones, and other values to regain freedom. It’s more painful when there are no petition written against them or court warrant to effect arrest due to fraudulent activities or the other.

That a young man dresses well, drives car, wears jewelries or had tattoos over his body is not enough to criminalize and profile them as fraudstars or internet scammers.

The ugly resort to blockage of Owerri roads by the staff of the economic and financial crime commission, EFCC, claiming to be looking for “Yahoo Boys” is so embarrassing to the image of the anti-crime agency and create unease as it poses security hiccups.

It’s important to note that, if EFCC had a petition or case against anybody or individual, they should invite the person to their offices or apply necessary administrative measures to effect arrest of the said individual than the resort to embarrassing road blocks of Owerri city and profiling of all Youths as fraudstars.

It’s more shocking that in the last two weeks, both Abuja, Port Harcourt and Enugu staff of EFCC invaded Owerri like we are in war zone. Enough of the madness!

It’s more worrisome when 90% of those arrested will be extorted hundreds of thousands of naira, some millions of naira under harassment and intimidation and allowed to go without been taken to the agency’s corporate head offices. At some cases , the youths or students will be forced to do away with their cars in exchange of freedom.

As a responsible citizen of imo state and stakeholder in the imo project of progressive development, I had led a one man protest to the Government of Imo State urging them to call the attention of the leadership of the anti-graft agency to the ugly trend which if unchecked will lead to social disorder and youth unrest.

It’s important to note, that the combined activities of the EFCC, and unknown Gunmen coupled with hard economic situation had scared away imo youths who had all traveled to other cities in Nigeria or neighboring African countries leaving Owerri as a ghost town.

Enough of EFCC profiling of Imo youths as criminals and fraudstars. I am an imo youth, I am not a criminal, I am not a fraudstar. EFCC or any security agency can investigate me.

Gov. Soludo Had A Round Table Conference With Leader Of Foreign Missions Int’l Dev. & Financial Agencies Representative.

As part of our initiative to take Anambra to the world and also bring the world to Anambra, I had a round table engagement with Leaders of foreign Missions and Country Representatives of key International Development and Financial Agencies on the 24th of March in Abuja.

Among other things, we discussed areas of Partnership, project financing opportunities and other bilateral trade options available to subnationals. Value is what we guarantee our prospective development Partners, this is part of our proposed deliverables with regards to our drive towards promoting the “Made in Anambra” brand.

This reason and more is why we must make our State uncomfortable to criminals and their trade. If the vision is to create a Liveable and Prosperous Homeland, we then should recognise the need to engage relevant partners within and outside our shores. As a people, we hope to mainstream the letters of the “Peoples’ Manifesto” in line with the contents of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed by the United nations. This meeting is one out of a series of many others that will take place in the coming days.

Anambra will Definitely succeed in our time.

I Have Been To Heaven Twice, Ezekiel Atang Did Not Die Premature God Over-Rules

EXCERPTS FROM REV. UMA UKPAI’S WORD OF CONSOLATION ON REV. EZEKIEL ATANG’S DEPARTURE

I have been to heaven twice; one of those times, God said to me, ‘Uma, you have come too early; you have 34years more to preach the gospel. Go back.’ I protested, and God shocked me by saying, ‘Uma, I thought you’re my obedient servant, why the protest?’ I surrendered.

As I turned, I saw my wife lying next to me, and she was crying. ‘Why are you crying?’ She said to me, ‘the doctor said you’ll soon die.’ ‘Which doctor? I’ve just come out of the house of the dead, and someone said I’ll soon die; that doctor must be crazy, and his madness must have started from his legs.’

My wife called Bishop Okonkwo to beg me to take treatment from the doctor. Okonkwo came and amused me by saying,’ if you don’t take the drugs that they asked you to take, I will not bury you.’

Look at this man, I thought you’re a Bishop. A dead man who has gone to heaven, whether you bury him or not does it matter? No,’ I replied.

To the church, I want you to hear me, there’s nothing like premature death. God overrules every death, oversees every birth. When he (Rev. Ezekiel Atang) was at the door of death through COVID-19, they called me. …. And I said to God, ‘Dont let him die now; please, we need him. He’s a shinning light in our city.’

You can’t help but love him when you see him. Father, please give him what I call healing sleep, and he slept of and woke up, healed completely and totally.
He came to my house and we celebrated it, but because his time of departure has come, I didn’t Know until it happened. All the same, when God overrules, we can’t stop him.’

May the Comfort his family and the entire Church in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Pastor Ezekiel Atang Laid To Rest In Uyo Amist Tears

It’s been an emotional Thursday. I joined the good people of Akwa Ibom State to bid farewell to our brother and God’s General- Late Pastor Ezekiel Atang. He was not only a minister of the gospel but also an SME stakeholder in the State.

I met Pastor Ezekiel 10 yrs ago in a far away remote town in Ondo State where I went to do some work with cooperative Societies. I was lodged in a hotel where he also logged and immediately I sighted him at the restaurant area, I recognised him cos I have been watching him on TV, so I walked up to him and greeted him in Ibibio. He was excited to see his town person in that area.

Last year, he floated an Entrepreneurship program to cushion the effect of covid 19 on the business congregation of his church. He invited me along side Tara Durotoye and other development partners to help out. We actually gave our input in the program and he was working to expand it this year.

Pastor Ezekiel, to me was a true representation of Christ: humble, devoid of politics, warm and cheerful, and well grounded in God’s calling. His name was never found among the ungodly or the political ministers. I pray that God will comfort his family, especially his wife, mother and children and his investment in raising godly family will live on.

There’s Only One Vincent Enyeama, To Replace Him Will Be Difficult -Ex Super Eagles Goal Keeper

There’s only one Enyeama’ – Ex-Lille star speaks on Super Eagles GK problem after Uzoho’s mistake.

2013 Africa Cup of Nations-winning goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has commented on the Super Eagles goalkeeping problem in the immediate aftermath of Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

It was thought that Francis Uzoho had launched a challenge on the number one spot after his impressive performance in the first leg clash at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, only for him to make a costly error that ultimately eliminated the Super Eagles.

Eleven minutes into the contest at the MKO Abiola Stadium, a shot from Arsenal’s Ghana captain Thomas Partey squirmed under the body of Uzoho and went into the net.

Nigeria crashed out of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after a blunder by goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and in this year’s tournament in Cameroon, Maduka Okoye made another costly blunder in the round of 16 defeat to Tunisia.

One of the important figures for the national team in his playing days, ex-Lille star Enyeama feels it would be difficult for Uzoho, Okoye and Akpeyi to step into his shoes, adding that the current goalkeepers should be encouraged.

Speaking on Channels TV on Tuesday night, Enyeama said : “It is time we face the future and keep moving. I don’t want to apportion blames.

“I listened to what George also said the other time we cannot have another Jay-Jay Okocha same that we cannot have another Vincent Enyeama, it is the truth.

“What I did for Nigeria you cannot really comprehend, it’s time that will tell.

“I’m going to say we have to do with what we have. I didn’t really see what happened during the match but the truth is that there’s only one Vincent Enyeama and we only have to encourage and support them, these guys need confidence.

“It’s sad that everybody was talking about goalkeeping before the game. These guys have to go through massive pressure to live up to the billing.

“Everyone wants another Vincent Enyeama in Uzoho, everyone wants another Vincent Enyeama in Akpeyi and Okoye which is very difficult and putting massive pressure on the young lads.”

Enyeama, who was formerly Nigeria’s all-time appearance maker before he was overtaken by the still active Ahmed Musa, represented Nigeria in three World Cups 2002, 2010 and 2014.

EXCLUSIVE: Document Exposes How Sokoto Governor,Tambuwal, Aides Stole, Diverted N189 Billion From State Accounts Within 6 Years

A document from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria has exposed how the Sokoto State Government led by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwa stole, diverted about N189 billion from the state-owned accounts to private individuals.

The document signed by DCE AS Abubakar and addressed to the chairman of the commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa revealed that ‘unusual transactions’ were uncovered in the accounts from January 1st, 2015 to August 31st, 2021.

According to Abubakar, the accounts received a total cumulative inflow of N567,160,024,619.93 within the said period out of which N189,155,043,825.09 was illegally diverted.

“The Department recently carried out financial profiling of the Sokoto State Government. This profiling was aimed at identifying the state government’s accounts that may have been exposed to Diversion, misappropriation of public funds and money laundering by government officials,” part of the documents obtained by SaharaReporters read.

“Analysis of the state government’s activities from 1st of January, 2015 to August 31st, 2021 uncovered unusual transactions in the following accounts. 1) Accountant General Sokoto FAAC Account Number 0697434238, Access Bank.

“ii) Secretary to the State Government Account Number 0700669798, Access Bank. iii) Permanent Secretary Government House Account number 0700669554, Access Bank.

“3) Specifically, the above-stated accounts received a total cumulative inflow of 567,160,024,619.93 (Five Hundred and Sixty Seven Billion, One Hundred and Sixty Million, Twenty Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Nineteen Naira, Ninety-Three Kobo) out of which 189,155,043,825.09 (One Hundred and Eighty-Nine Billion, One Hundred and Fifty-Five Million, Forty-Three Eight Hundred and Twenty Five Naira, Nine Kobo) was withdrawn in favour of government officials, individuals (suspected to be cashiers), companies and other groups/agencies.”

The anti-graft agency listed the beneficiaries of the alleged diverted funds as Abubakar Mohammed Barau, Abubakar Bello Gandi, Buba S. Sambo, Kabir Aminu Tafida, Shuabi Mohammed and the Permanent Secretary, Sokoto State Government House.

“In light of the findings, it is assessed with a high degree of confidence that the named individuals (suspected to be cashiers) and identified government officials are involved in the diversion of public funds, misappropriation of State Government funds and money laundering activities,” the document further reads.

“The following are suggested for investigation; Investigation should commence on other state government accounts in order to identify other accounts that are prone to unwholesome acts of state officials.

“Investigate the named individuals and identified government officials in order to know the extent of their involvement. Investigate FAAC account payouts to private companies; Nagarta Microfinance Bank and Bilya Micro System.”

Governor of the state, Tambuwal had earlier in the month declared interest to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

When contacted, special assistant to Tambuwal on new media told SaharaReporters he wasn’t aware of the document. He however failed to react to it hours after sending it to him on WhatsApp.

Soludo Visits Nnewi South Local Govt. That Set Ablaze By Hoodlums

I was at Ukpor, the Nnewi South LGA Headquarters at the scene of last night’s attack by some arsonists. This mindless bloodletting and destruction of infrastructure does not define who we are! Nothing can justify these acts of criminality.

As I looked at what is left of the rubbles, I asked myself, “in all this, who loses?”. Structures built from the taxes paid by the genuinely hard-working men and women on the streets are ruined for reasons that are incomprehensible to sane minds.

The resources that should have been deployed to providing more for struggling tax payers, would now be channeled into reconstructing these destroyed buildings and rebuilding missing records. It is very impossible to make any meaningful progress this way.

Quite frankly, Ndị Anambra cannot be repressed by a few criminal elements. Our resolve to entrench law and order is total, no amount of wanton destruction will cower us.

I remember with a deep sense of grief, the three gallant police officers – Inspector Murtala Saudi, Sgt. Mudassir Ahmed, and Sgt. Samuel Ishaya, who lost their lives to the Unknown Gunmen who attacked us at a meeting with the youths in my village on this day last year.

We pledge to continue to take care of their families, and for their sake and many others who lost their lives to the sheer wickedness of a few misguided people, we shall not relent in our effort to make Anambra Liveable and Prosperous.

God Is A Faithful Rewarder By Ike Nedu-Uba

‘God Our Great Rewarder’. (Gen. 15:1)
Rev. G. C. Nwosu, the D. S. of Ngwa (Bethlehem) District spoke on this topic, exhorting leaders and coordinators at their end of the month meeting/announcements.

The leaders were reminded of the faithfulness of God, which is evident in His relationship with Abraham. This same way, all those who kept faith with God and served Him dilligently and faithfully, will never be disappointed.
Furthermore, he drew the Leaders’ attention to Christ’s admonitions to His disciples in Matthew chapter 6. So, he affirmed that we have a better reward with God who can never fail.
The admonition message was capped with a prayer having sung the song ‘I dighi agbanwe agbanwe’.
To God be the glory!

Ebele Obiano Apologises, Declare For Senatorial Bid

Obiano’s wife declares senatorial bid, apologises to Soludo over fracas with Bianca

Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of Willie Obiano, former governor of Anambra state, says she will be seeking a senatorial seat in the 2023 general election.

She is seeking the Anambra north senatorial seat which is currently held by Stella Oduah, former minister.

Speaking with journalists in Awka, Anambra capital, on Wednesday, the former first lady said her decision to run for the office is because of “pressure from my people”.

Obiano said contesting the office in the general election “is the will of God.”

“My interest to join the senatorial race is in response to an overwhelming pressure and calls from my people to represent them in the senate at the national assembly, Abuja,” she said.

“I have been attested to by the good people of Anambra state, service to people, humanity and sharing love and putting smiles on sad faces are my priorities in life, and I know that it is the will of God because the Bible says that God is love.

“Therefore, having witnessed and been positively touched by my ever willing disposition to care for people, empower the poor and needy, especially women and children, particularly widows, orphans and the destitute, my people decided that I should come and serve them better in a higher capacity.” Cable

Prof Charles Soludo in his campaign speech told Ndi Anambra state that they are losing 19.6 billion naira in every Monday sit-at-home.

The recent statistics published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), showed that Anambra state had the capacity to generate over N28 billion as internally generated revenue for now

While Anambra State Internal Revenue Service has hinted that it hopes to achieve a projected internally generated revenue (IGR) of N50 billion for the 2022 fiscal year. Chairman of the service, Dr. David Nzekwu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) early this year

Then, let’s ask Charles Soludo how Anambra state can generate 19.6 billion naira every Monday when the total internally generated revenue in 2020 is 28.1 billion naira.

Charles Soludo has started this journey with lies and that won’t help him , he should focus on his administrative issues and leave IPOB alone .

Brand New Governor Soludo Visits Offices Withing Govt. House As Work Resumes Monday

Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Anambra State Governor, today Monday March 28, 2022 resumed work as usual and also visited some offices within Government House

It will be recalled that the Head of Service, Anambra State, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe earlier last week issued a circular to all civil servants to report to work every Monday of the week as against the sit-at-home order issued by non State actors

Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo on assuming office as Governor of Anambra had appealed to all armed groups to lay down their arms and come out of the forest to join hands in building the state

Governor Soludo had also on several fora decried the Monday weekly sit-at-home which has deeply affected the economic activities of the State. The Governor had asserted that the sit-at-home syndrome has further pauperised the people’s economic fortunes especially those who engage in daily income businesses.

The Governor had also recently met with Market women and transport union leaders last week in a meeting and discussed on putting a stop to the Monday weekly sit-at-home order.

On that occasion both the Governor and Market/transport union leaders agreed to put an end to the weekly sit-at-home order by reporting to work and also ensuring that shops are opened for business every Monday

Feelers from the State capital, Awka showed a remarkable improvement of activities as cars and people were seen moving freely around.

Okigwe-Umulolo-Arondizuogu-Uga High Way A Hell In Imo State

Good evening all.please I urgently wish to advice our members against plying the okigwe__umulolo _obinnetiti Arondizuogu _ugah highway no matter the urgency. That highway has completely been abandoned by the security agencies and even by the government.

Pls my dear don’t try it.It happens every day because nobody challenges these brutes and spineless idiots.A recently retired big gun of a federal government owned institution at umunze was unlucky to be kidnapped three days ago.

He passed through what I believe to be worse than maybe hell. They took him to a pit and showed him decomposing human bodies, those who couldn’t pay ransome and those who tried to escape.

He was made to trek for more than three hours in the thick forest of Arondizuogu before they got to their camp,a well fortified hideout.

In his presence, two people were shot dead and dumped in that pit to decompose and probably never be identified or traced. This man was released today after payment of ransome.

They demanded for the sum of thirty million Naira but I don’t know how much the family paid.Out of fear,he has decided not to go and collect his car abandoned on that road and it is still there as I am typing this.please once more avoid this route.

2023: Abaribe, Ekweremadu Lose Out As PDP Orders Strict Compliance To Zoning In S/East

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu have lost out following the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP order for strict compliance to zoning in South-East.

IGBERE TV had reported that Sen. Abaribe and Sen. Ekweremadu have purchased nomination forms to contest for Abia State and Enugu Governorship election in 2023 respectively.

Following the resolution of the PDP South East Zonal Executive Committee (SEC) in its meeting in Enugu, on Sunday, directing that the principles of zoning and rotation of power should be strictly adhered to, “upheld and respected at all levels of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East”, the debate surrounding the zoning of governorship position and other elective offices in Enugu State as well as other South East states by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been laid to rest.

The PDP National Vice Chairman (South East), Chief Ali Odefa had while briefing journalists at the end of the closed-door meeting disclosed that the PDP South East directed that the existing zoning patterns in states and constituencies of the zone must be strictly observed and adhered to in every state and constituency.

IGBERE TV reports that Abaribe hails from the same zone with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

Chief Odefa also disclosed that the PDP in the South East zone has aligned with the position of the Southern Governors’ Forum that the next president of Nigeria should come from the southern part of the country.

Addressing the issue of zoning in the South East decisively, the PDP in its resolution at end of the ZEC meeting in Enugu stressed the importance of zoning and rotation particularly “in all situations where, prior to now there had been entrenched the practice of zoning political elective offices”.

The PDP therefore asked the governors of states in the South East zone elected on the platform of the party to ensure strict compliance with the resolution while the party’s Zonal Working Committee (ZWC) in other states was equally asked to liaise with the leaders to ensure compliance.

According to the resolution, “It was resolved that in the election of candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South East for the 2023 elections, the principles of zoning and rotation of power shall be adhered to, upheld and respected at all levels of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South East.

“This is particularly important in all situations where, prior to now there had been entrenched the practice of zoning political elective offices.

“For this purpose, where the governor is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, the governor shall ensure compliance with this resolution while the Zonal Working Committee shall in liaison with the leaders ensure compliance in other state”.

The PDP South East ZEC meeting which was presided over by the National Vice Chairman, Chief Odefa, was attended by the leader of the Party in the South East and Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of Abia State, the National Secretary of the Party, Senator Sam Anyanwu, members of the State and National Assemblies from the zone, members of PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), Board of Trustees (BOT) members, among others!

Nigerian Army 82 Division Dislodged Members Of IPOB/ESN In Anambara

Troops of 82 Division Nigerian Army (NA) conducting clearance operations along Anambra/Imo States border communities today dislodged a criminal hideout used by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate; Eastern Security Network ( ESN) in Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The notorious groups have serially launched attacks on defenceless civilians and security targets from the hideout.

During the clearance operations along the border communities, troops were met with stiff resistance from the dissident elements, as they closed in on their enclave. They were overwhelmed by troops’ superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their hideout.

After overrunning their camp, the gallant troops carried out further exploitation and recovered a cache of arms, comprising 22 Pump Action rifles, 19 Dane guns and 6 machetes. Other items recovered include assorted mobile phones, sim cards, monitors and a laptop. One operational Hilux vehicle and various voodoo items and charms were also recovered.

Investigations revealed that the hideout served as the operational base of one Innocent Obieke (aka Double Lion), who is said to be the head of the vigilante group in the area, but surreptitiously coordinates the criminal activities of IPOB/ESN. The suspect is currently on the run, while troops have intensified operations to close in on him and his cohorts.

Chinedu Nwadike Many Judged You Alive But God Knows All.

The news of your death chilled my body and till now am yet to recover, you were energetic, bubbling and full of life when we met last time, I never knew it will be the last.

You gave your time to compose and sing praises to God in a unique way that distinguished you out from other gospel singers.

All of a sudden, it was boom on the internet that you were sick with kidney failure and cancer of the blood. You begged people, friends, associates and even politicians you worked for to assist, only you and God knows if they assisted you.

After some time a good news came that are not better and was getting ready to be discharged, I was happy with others who loved.

A day after news was internet that you faked your sickness, I defended you to my best and kept praying for your discharge from hospital, only to come back from hospital and the social media was on fire that you gone, I could not believe it immediately until I made my findings.

You fought tough to live again but your best was not enough to keep you going, God knows best.

Many judged you alive, called you names and condemned you as if they were God, they might be right or wrong in their judgement, but one thing I know is that nobody on earth is free from gossip, slander and even weakness, but I want to believe that on your sick bed you made peace with God and He will accept you if you did that with all your heart.

It’s a lesson to us, we should not build a wall around ourselves and never let others in while at the top, the people we despised might be out helpers in times of need. Rest on Nwoke Oma.

Governor Soludo Sent Message To IPOB/MASSOB

To IPOB/ESN, the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), as well as the disparate armed groups in the forests, it is time to interrogate both the purpose and means of your campaign.

To the politicians playing politics with the insecurity, you are riding a tiger.

The current trajectory is a desolation road.

By forcing our children—the future of Igboland—to stay at home instead of being in school, while even the critically sick people (including pregnant women) cannot go to the hospital, we harm our future.

I hereby challenge any of the disparate groups that claim that it is not part of the senseless killings and kidnappings to step out and show leadership by joining hands with us to DO something about it.

With Ohanaeze’s estimate that some 11.6 million Igbos living in the North and over 7 million in Lagos state and over 70% of our non-land assets scattered all over Nigeria and the world, we need Nigeria and Nigeria needs us.

I will invest my political capital within our State, our South East and with the Presidency, Federal Government and its establishments as a matter of topmost priority.

With good faith and hard work by all parties, I am convinced that justice, peace and order will return to Anambra and the South East within the shortest possible horizon

Prof. Charles Soludo

May We Not Drive Our Daughters Into Yhe Hands Of Evil Men!!!

Dear Momma,
I love you! Your level of intelligence and the type of articles you come up with amaze me! It’s a different write-up and revelation whenever I come across your articles.

I personally thank God for people like you who use their excellence for God. May Almighty God, the most high, reward you with heavenly bliss.

Momma, you don’t know this but you’ve won a lot of souls. “Na to dey preach for hospital remain!” So help me God! Much love from your Baby Nurse!

Aminat Adenike

Dear Mummy Temilolu,
I just want to give a short testimony. I want to thank you for your preaching. Even though I am no longer a virgin, I am still keeping it up by staying away from sexual immorality.

I never knew my dad until I clocked 17 and found him on Facebook. He replied after three months and apologised for leaving me because he was just 17 years old when he got my mum, who was just 14 years old, pregnant. His parents took him away and never wanted to hear anything about him getting my mum pregnant! After three months of getting to know my father, he called me one day and told me to no longer change my name, that he’s not my father. He said negative things and I just knew it was some sort of manipulation.

I knew him at age 17 in 2016. I am currently 21. I had no choice but to fend for myself. My mum has been married and her husband never knew about me, so there was no point going to make things tough for her because she too has tried for me.

I was ready to keep my virginity intact until it became so tough for me and I had to start sleeping with men till I was able to get my ND form and start school on my own. I stopped after a lawyer in my school, who was so fond of me right from the first day I stepped into the school, counselled me after a dream she had about me.

In my 200 level, I started receiving favours. A U.S-based woman, who my mum used to run errands for, got in contact with me and has been paying my fees till now. I made a distinction in my ND. This is my final semester in my HND and I have given my life to Christ fully.

I began following you on Facebook this year, I just want to say thank you for your teachings. I had to make you “see first” because I always want to believe that there’s hope. Thank you so much. You’re a good mother. God bless you, ma. Please if you would permit me, I’d love to send airtime to you! Please remember me in prayers.

Miss A.
Dearest parents,
Whenever, I go on school visits, there’s usually a girl who says her greatest challenge is not even boys or sex but trauma and depression she’s experiencing in her family. PEOPLE OF GOD, IS IT FAIR FOR A MERE CHILD TO BE ALLOWED TO GO THROUGH PAIN WHEN IT CAN BE AVOIDED? Why should I, as a mother, be the source of my daughter’s trauma no matter how strict I am?

I’ll be driving her into perdition, into the arms of wicked men waiting to devour her! How won’t she seek love in the wrong places, end up tossed up and down and be broken into pieces? Can she ever break the bias that’s likely to get worse and stand strong in a patriarchal society?
At my last school visitation where my team and I went to commemorate the International Women’s Day, we dealt with quite a number of questions written to us by the girls and one which broke my heart was a girl who said she was depressed and hated her mother. (More to come on this).

How can a young girl – a baby who’s yet to have a grip of her life and be sure of which way is best for her to go – despise the one who’s meant to show her the way, more love than anyone could ever give her and shield her from life’s cruelty and uncertainty? Haaa….Every mother’s greatest nightmare should be her daughters’ going through worse pain/troubles than she did.

And our greatest accomplishment ought to be making a roaring success out of our daughters and empowering them to enjoy life in a patriarchal society. I still have to come back to this discussion.
May our daughters enjoy the best of life no matter what life throws at them. May they someday be named amongst the world’s most influential women.

And may they have good things to say about us in future, especially how we made life easy and beautiful for them! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS! May we never bury any of our children! May they turn out greater than we expect in Jesus name!
I invite you to follow me on Facebook –TEMILOLU OKEOWO Instagram @ Okeowotemilolu

Simple Acts Of Love Can Leave Everlasting Memories

Mother’s Day is here again, another reason to honour all the mothers and women in your lives who have given you many reasons to smile and sometimes cry when they practise the acts of tough love.

It is not by chance that Mother’s Day is also celebrated in March, a month which has been carefully set aside for extraordinary women doing

extraordinary things. Historically, Mother’s Day was conceived by Anna Jarvis on May 12, 1907, when she held a memorial service in honour of her own mother who organised women’s groups in her days to promote friendship and happiness among women.

The day is still celebrated globally on a Sunday in March or May in other countries, including the USA, which was Anna Jarvis home country.
Although Mother’s Day has found a niche in the commercial market, just like any landmark occasion, with families at war on buying the most expensive present for mum, the real interpretation of love, especially to a mother or mother figure, is often worth more than silver or gold.

Mothers should be celebrated every day for their commitment, selflessness, compassion and sacrifices they make and they should not only be remembered on Mother’s Day.

The simple acts of love you show towards your mother and woman in your lives daily will have an everlasting impact on their health and well-being for the rest of their lives.

Leave a memory
On Mother’s Day, it is important to leave a memory behind in the heart of your mother or mother figure if you have never had the opportunity to do so – perhaps you have only been sending them money or gifts to commemorate the day, do something different this year on top of your usual, to simply express what they mean to you.

You can write her a special poem and read it to her if you will be visiting her or send it as a text message or voice note so that she can hear your voice and listen to it repeatedly if you live far away.

Capture the little voices
Grandparents always hold a special place in the heart of children and it is important to get them to express their love for them in special and creative ways too.

Capture the children’s voices of what nana stands for in their lives by asking them to draw their expressions using paper and coloured pencils; give them glitters to add some glitz to their story and let their imagination about their grandparents take them to places.
Time is of the essence
The most memorable gift you can give your mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and mother figures this Mother’s Day is the gift of time. On this special occasion, whether you have bought their favourite presents or not, make time for those special women in your life; give them a day off from their usual activities of caring for everyone else and focus on them and them alone for the day.

If you are fortunate to have your mothers and mothers-in-law living in the same city, take the opportunity to take them out for a meal together or host a family thanksgiving meal in their honour.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Okigwe South 2023: Rt Hon Jonas Okeke Picks Expression Of Interest Form

Says, He Is Optimistic of Transparent Primaries

A former deputy speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Jonas Okeke, has officially picked the expression of interest / nomination form, to contest for the Okigwe South Rep Seat in 2023, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

Rt Hon Okeke who picked the form at the national secretarait of the party, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, on Wednesday, March 23, was accompanied by the members of his campaign team.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after purchasing the form, he noted that he is confident that his party, PDP, will conduct a free and fair primaries, adding that he believes he would clinch the ticket to contest for the Rep seat in 2023.

He pointed out that Okigwe South needs a vibrant lawmaker who will bring the dividends of the democracy to the constituency, and ensure that every problem in the area is adequately tackled, even as he thanked the party leadership for uniting members of the party.

“I want to first thank the almighty God for making this day a reality, and for the strength He has accorded us to pursue this vision again. I’m also thankful to my family, friends, our party leadership and members, different political groups for their enormous support, encouragement and prayers”

“Let me say this, that we’re committed to this project than ever. And I also believe in the capacity of the party and INEC towards conducting a free, fair and credible primaries that will be acceptable by all.

“Again, what is important now is to win the ticket of the party. We won it the last time, and we’re optimistic we will win again. This is because our loyalty to the party is unflinching, undivided and unfettered. I want to assure you that we will prosecute this election to a successful conclusion this time around, God willing.

Those who accompanied him to the national secretarait of PDP include; Chief David Abanihi, Hon Ambrose Okeke, Mr Chimezie Ogugua, Barr. Kelechi Nwokeogu, amongst others.

Presidential Aspirant Frowns On PDP’s Inability To Cede Ticket To South-East

A presidential aspirant on the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ike Ibe, has frowned on his Party’s inability to cede the presidential ticket to the South-East zone before the commencement of the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for the country’s top position.Ibe, a former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, said that the PDP could start the country’s healing process by ceding its presidential ticket to the South-East zone, which, he said, was the most marginalised ethnic nationality in Nigeria. At a press conference in Owerri, the state capital, on Tuesday, Ibe, said that one of the major problems of the country was that “irredentists” had over the years managed the affairs of the country. He said that if infrastructure and basic amenities were evenly distributed amongst the zones of the country, the insecurity in the land would have been minimal. The presidential hopeful said “For several years, the general sentiment has been that the next president should come from the South Eastern Nigeria. This is for very obvious reasons. Many organisations have been existing for the last three years or more pursuing the actualisation of the Nigerian President of Igbo extraction.“It is common knowledge that Nd’Igbo are the only major ethnic group that has not produced a Nigerian President. This agitation is therefore ripe, timely and reasonable. Nigerian unity and cohesion have suffered tremendously because of this imbalance and the Igbo nation has been subjected to all manner of indignation, discrimination and marginalisation.“Yet the Igbo nation has remained largely peaceful. For those of us in the PDP, it has been our expectations and belief and indeed understanding that our party will break this imbalance by unequivocally zoning its presidential candidacy to Igboland. But with recent undercurrents and schemings in our great party, one is at a loss as to what the party intends to do. The PDP has the opportunity of taking the steps to begin the real healing process of the past destruction of the fabric of Nigeria.“This it can do by making sure the party’s Presidential ticket is zoned exclusively to the Igbos. It will be historical. In the situation we all find ourselves today as a nation, the PDP will easily and clearly win the presidential election and majority of the governorship and legislative elections in 2023.“Our country has never seen the level of hunger, dissatisfaction, desolation, leadership rigmarole, corruption, nepotism, insecurity, and lack of vision as we are seeing in the last seven years. The PDP has the unique opportunity of halting the national collapse and drift we are witnessing. But I am worried.”He continued, “The recent announcement by the PDP NEC throwing open the purchase of presidential nomination forms to every section of the country is indeed very unsettling. It is even more intriguing that the party set up a zoning committee that is expected to submit its report well after aspirants from all parts of the country would have bought forms and submitted.“This is just like placing the cart before the horse. I am curious about what the party wants to achieve or how this decision can ensure unity of the party and by extension the nation. It is unfortunate that our nation is bedevilled by gross disunity and leaders pander more to nepotism and that is why the level of leadership distrust is so high at the national level.“The problem we have had with many leaders of Nigeria over the years is lack of national development vision. Nigeria has thrust onto the national stage so many irredentists who only think of their zones to the detriment of overall national development.“When I look at Nigeria, I see a nation made up of people who seek genuine development and unity. Granted that there has been so much imbalance in national development, my potential presidency will definitely ensure that areas unduly and unfairly disadvantaged in terms of infrastructure and social amenities would be brought at par with other areas in accordance to their circumstances.“Historically, the Igbo man has this patriotic and nationalistic accommodating spirit more than any other group in Nigeria. My potential presidency will generally be a broad based presidency where no region will be oppressed or left behind the cutting edge development we will bring to our country to make her compete effectively with the rest of the civilised world. Our people deserve the best leaders and not the worst. With every hand on deck, we will get it right.”“The South-East region of Nigeria has had a checkered political history as a people and seem to have for many years been perpetually consigned to a near permanent inglorious bench of presidential trauma.”The ex-lawmaker said that he was running for president on the PDP platform to unite the country and for every zone to be treated, equally.Copyright PUNCH.

What Ebonyi State May Look Like In The Next Few Days

For days now a lot has been happening in Ebonyi State following the sack of Gov. Dave Umahi as the governor of the state following his cross carpeting to the ruling APC from PDP the platform he was elected. Below are few things that may likely happen in next few days.

1. It’s now 72 hours since a Federal High Court removed Ebonyi State Governor and his Deputy. Since then, the former governor is yet to secure a stay of execution despite all the media make beliefs that he has secured one.

His inability to get a stay of execution may not be unconnected with his verbal insults on the presiding judge who he forgot will be the one that will issue him the stay of execution. Remember the old saying that ‘he who the gods want to kill they first make mad’.

2. The incoming Governor of Ebonyi State Rt. Hon. Iduma Igariwey yesterday addressed a press conference and reminding INEC on the need to expedite action to issue him the certificate of return. Information gathered from Abuja said that INEC may likely issue the COR today to avoid contravening the law.

3. It is no more news that the fate of the 15 law makers of Enonyi State House of Assembly who defected to APC along side the former governor have been sealed. They will be replaced in the coming days by the PDP. However, a new Speaker of the House of Assembly and other principal officers will be sworn in in the coming days. Rt. Hon. Franca Okpo may likely be the new speaker.

4. If the analysis on 3 above plays out, and Dave manages to secure a stay of execution, he may likely be impeached by 2³ majority of the House after he must have paid them all their entitlements which he denied them since his defection. But if they decide not to impeach, he will end up being a tool in their hands.

5. The Ebonyi State Government House and the House of Assembly have remained under luck since the court rulings. Hopefully, by Monday next week, Rt. Hon. Iduma Igariwey will make a triumphant entry to the Government House. When this happens, many people will lose their jobs and many will get new employment. Members of Ebubeagu may end up becoming born again Christians.

6. From all indications, it is obvious that the leadership of APC in the country have distanced themselves from this matter or may have a hand it. You may recall that the former APC National Caretaker Committee Chairman was removed on Monday this week and within 24hrs, Dave was removed. In other words, he is fighting a battle from two fronts.

6. In the coming days, so many more intriguing developments will occur. There is no gain saying the fact that so much State resources have been wasted on this venture.

Innoson Motors Appreciate Soludo For Making Their Brand Official Vehicle

The governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, during his inauguration flaunted the Innoson Motor as the first Nigerian governor to adopt an indigenous brand as official vehicle.

Soludo was inaugurated on March 17 and he did not only parade the brand, but he made new case for made in Anambra and by extension made in Nigeria brands.

The governor began the campaign for local brands since the early days of his campaign to take over the highest job of the state.

On his inauguration, the governor officially endorsed the brand- Innoson Motors and the Akwete fabrics.

Reacting to Soludo’s gesture, the company said it was impressed with the governor’s sincerity in “keeping to his promise”.

Beyond the adoption of the car brand, the company said it seeks further collaboration with the new governor in the automobile sector.

“The Management of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company wishes to thank the newly sworn-in Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for keeping his promise to use Innoson Vehicle as his Official Car.

“The company is delighted to see him keep his words on the occasion of his Inauguration.
“The company is grateful that Mr. Governor wants to look inward, partner with and promote local products. The Innoson Group look forward to a fruitful Partnership with the government.

“Under your leadership and wishes to reiterate her commitment to support your Government in any way possible in order to ensure it achieves her vision,” the company said in a tweet seen

Soludo who appeared as a guest on Arise TV on Monday said it is insane for leaders to patronise foreign brands and ignore their own brands.

He said, “You will not get to Europe and find any European government using or buying Japanese Toyota for the operations of their police or for their president or for their officers. That government will come down the next day.

“You will not get to China or Philippines and find their leaders or so wearing fabrics that is not made in their home lands. That is how you create jobs. What else?

“If you want to get funds from the US or from wherever, it is America first. You are going to patronise made in US. That is what it is.

Attack: Ohanaeze Leader, Igbo Elders Should Be PArotected -Nnamdi Kanu

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has sought protection for the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor, whose residence had been razed by gunmen and other Igbo nationalists and elder statesmen at all times.

While describing the attack on the house of the Ohanaeze leader as “cowardly and barbaric”, he exonerated IPOB from it.

The IPOB leader said Obiozor has been in the vanguard of “behind-the-scene endeavours, discussions and negotiations, all aimed at exploring the option of a political solution to his incarceration by the Federal Government in the custody of the Department of State Services”.

The leader of IPOB legal team, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said this in a statement issued on Tuesday after the routine weekly visit to Kanu in DSS Headquarters in Abuja.

He said, “We visited Onyendu who is in the custody of the DSS, Abuja. Our interaction with him was quite fruitful and ended on a positive note. Our discussion centred on two main things, namely, the frivolous criminal proceedings pending against him at a Federal High Court, Abuja, and the criminal destruction of the country home of Prof. George Obiozor.
“Onyendu remains firm and resolute in his convictions that his present experience is part of the sacrifice he is bound to make for the actualisation of his dream for the emancipation of Umuchineke. He re-affirms the confidence he reposes in the legal team defending him at the Federal High Court, Abuja, ably led by Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), and prays that the ruling that would be delivered on April 8 2022, on the Notice of Preliminary Objection, would end in his favour.
“Onyendu also took some time to express his anger and grave disapproval of the heinous act of destruction of the country home of the elder statesman and President General of Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Prof. George Obiozor. He describes the said destruction as cowardly and barbaric and condemns it in very strong terms. He further describes it as uncharitable, noting that the said elder statesman has been in the vanguard of behind-the-scene endeavours, discussions and negotiations, all aimed at exploring and implementing the option of a political solution, as a parallel way of ending the prevailing state of affairs.
“He declares that the perpetrators of the heinous act shall not be forgiven and went ahead to direct that all persons who were in any way involved in committing the dastardly act be fished out forthwith. He reminds Umuchineke to be eternally conscious of several atrocities committed on our land by strangers whose primary objective is to destroy and plunder our land and then turn around to falsely accuse our people. He further notes that Prof. Obiozor has been a commendable ally since his incarceration in June, 2021, and made the point that he is not an enemy of Umuchineke.
“That being so, the elder statesman should be protected and encouraged for speaking up against the several multifaceted ills meted out both to him and to Umuchineke as a whole. He further notes that the elder statesman has been instrumental in the regular presence that members of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo has shown in all the court appearances of Onyendu. This socio-cultural group has steadfastly and consistently made a legal representation in the criminal proceedings pending against Onyendu at a Federal High Court Abuja.
“Onyendu remains appreciative and eternally grateful to that body for this commendable gesture. Further, Onyendu points out that it was at the instance of Prof. George Obiozor that a delegation of Igbo elders, led by a former Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, consistently showed visible presence in all his appearances in court and has gone ahead on several occasions to attempt to pay him a visit at the DSS Headquarters, which attempts were frustrated by the personnel of DSS.
“Onyendu warns that our elder statesmen should be protected at all times and that the monsters desecrating Igbo land should be fished out wherever they are and severely punished, in order to serve as a deterrent to their ilks. Onyendu further declares that IPOB remains a peaceful, non-violent self-determination group that completely detests and abhors any form of violence.
“He, therefore, urges Umuchineke to continue to be law-abiding and remain focused on the objective of the group. He urges his followers to shun violence and remain peaceful in their agitation for a permanent liberation of Umuchineke from the shackles of bondage and stranglehold of underdevelopment that have held them from attaining their fullest potentials as special creatures of Chukwuokike Abiama.
“Onyendu remains grateful to millions of his teeming fans and supporters for their steadfastness and unwavering resolve to achieve their objective. He urges millions of Umuchineke to come out and contribute efforts in clearing the debris in the burnt country home of Prof. George Obiozor any time he indicates interest in commencing work.”
