Anambara State Government Buries Late Mrs. Chika Akutigbue After Six Momths I Mortuary

The Anambra State Government has facilitated the burial of late Mrs. Chika Akutigbue, whose body remained in the mortuary for over six months due to a family dispute.

Reports indicate that the deceased’s husband’s family initially refused her burial in her husband’s compound following unresolved disagreements. As a result, her remains were left in the mortuary for an extended period.

Following the intervention of the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, efforts were made to mediate between the parties involved. After deliberations and dialogue, the husband’s family agreed to allow Mrs. Akutigbue to be buried in her husband’s compound.

The state government’s intervention highlights its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women, even in death, and ensuring peaceful resolution of family disputes.
