ONWUASOANYA FCC JONESWhen it was time to make consultations over who would be his running mate, the first insight came from a mosque. At a meeting between some Imams and Governor Ganduje of Kano State. It was there that Ganduje told the Imams that Tinubu had assured them that he was going to pick a Muslim as his running mate.
When it was time to pick key members of the National Working Committee of his Party, Tinubu and his Party didn’t show us pictures of a meeting where Christian clergy were consulted. When critical decisions affecting the Party and the presidency he is trying to grab will be taken, there won’t be Christians in the room. But, when it is time to show off a group of hired sycophants, Tinubu is fast to show us the pictures of some unrecognisable individuals wearing cloaks of Christian clergy.Tinubu is smart. He is not making a mistake with these things. He is intentionally ridiculing Christianity. He is rubbing it on our faces that; “Christians are easy to dominate”, that the “Christian clergy can be hired for two a penny.”During the presentation of his wannabe Commander-in-Chief running mate, he went to the parks and other places to hire thugs and dressed them in the cloaks of Bishops. That wasn’t a mistake. He did it intentionally to tell us to go to hell. He wanted to run it into our eyes that we are irrelevant.I do not care if Tinubu chooses 100% Muslims to make up his team. It is his right. But, I have a problem with the man constantly disrespecting Christianity. This is the same thing I would say of anyone treating Islam with disrespect. It is wrong. Every religion should be accorded the respect they deserve.I am not even a Churchgoer. In the African man’s understanding of Christianity, I may not qualify to fight for Christianity, because I can’t remember the last time I was in church, but I am speaking as a concerned Nigerian who knows how seriously my people take issues relating to their religious sensitivities.Tinubu is ridiculing Christianity. He should stop already. Let him go ahead and campaign with his Muslim-Muslim ticket. Nigerians who are convinced about the credibility of his person and his running mate will vote for them, but let him stop making Christianity look so cheap.
