I am one of Peter Obi’s supporters who is not very disturbed about Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s treatise of illogicality and a bad attempt at journalistic warfare with, unfortunately himself.

Peter Obi and his official communication team are not interested in joining issues with him, nor any other person or group who is or are on a mercenary mission to distract the team from their focus of rescuing Nigeria from the shackles of bad governance brought about by years of incompetence, insensibility and corruption, which characters like Soludo, who has strove all these years to portray himself as an intellectual or even a technocrat, contributed more than a lot to.

Those who know Soludo closely have held strongly to the convinction that he is a “well packaged fraud” and a clay-brained intellectual, who was driven to the top by a combination of good fortunes, deceptive loyalty, inveigle, and a dangerous willingness to do dirty jobs for money or for power. Many of us, especially, those of my age who were undergraduate activists at the onset of the Fourth Republic, when his likes were packaged as saints and geniuses and given a lot more credit than they deserve. I have a Comrade, who was apparently taken over by the media creation of a sterling, brilliant image of the now better unveiled invidious Isuofia Chief.

We have since seen the real Stars of that Obasanjo era move on to higher callings in the international community, with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who is actually the star of that administration now holding sway at the World Trade Organisation after many other notable international appointments. But, in what should be the clearest evidence of his intellectual inefficiency, Soludo has rather been shuttling from Aso Rock to Agu Awka, with bowl in hand seeking anointing to be governor or to be settled with one appointment or the other by the federal government.

For a man who would want us to recognise and probably prostrate before him as an economic egghead, yet, his adviced and recommendations are partly responsible for the economic disaster we are confronted with in the current Buhari administration, as he is one of the few men appointed into the Buhari Economic Advisory Board. How can a man who advised Nigeria into an unprecedented crash in the value of the Naira, lowest ever GDP in recent history, highest ever inflation since 1999, worse cost of living crisis in the history of Nigeria and of course, the most negative economic outlook in recent Nigerian history, consider himself qualified to pontificate on the right economic practices?

When Soludo took up his tablet or any device he wrote with, he probably thought very lowly of Nigerians, if he thought anyone would take him seriously, giving his self-glorifying panegyric. Let me try to interrogate paragraph by paragraph, Soludo’s ignominious drivel into historical infamy.

It is obvious from the first paragraph of the long-winded venom, that our Isuofia brother was out for a dirty job. Not for himself, nor for his Party, but for his employers; the Abuja cabal and the bat. If an executive governor could sit down and personally author a piece of humourless comedy in response to what he aptly described as social media trolling of his by individuals he couldn’t identify by name or their official positions, then there is no better way to describe such a governor, but as an insecure miscast in power. If Soludo was not a miscast in Agu Awka, he should have known that he would only need to respond to statements made from official quarters or those that come directly from his “peers”. Unfortunately, like every intellectual error, like a village cat who would always shout to roar his tigritude. Soludo only wanted to remind people that he is a Professor and that he can write. Expectedly, he wrote gibberish.

I do not agree with him that he reads “The Man in the Arena” regularly, because if he did, he wouldn’t have gone ahead in a later paragraph to categorically dismiss the chances of the real man in the arena as long as the 2023 election is concerned. He would have taken to heart a stanza in that epigram which reads;

“…who at the best knows the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

If Soludo got his training right, he would have known that there is nowhere in Igbo custom or belief system where it is assumed or affirmed that saying the truth is suicidal or dangerous. We say in Igbo that “Eziokwu bu ndu” and we are always encouraged to say the truth always. Mischievous elders like Chief Soludo are the ones who consider saying the truth a dangerous act, hence, speak equivocally and tell us it is being diplomatic. Like it is obvious in his long and misdirected recrimination, Chief Soludo has nothing to say but to pour out his bitterness and deliver on a dirty job for which he was deployed by his Abuja bosses. So, it is nonsensical for him to say he would refrain from saying certain things. That was a subtle appeal for ceasefire from the Obidients. He wants us to become afraid that he might spill the beans, hence, leave him alone. That’s an overused blackmailing strategy which doesn’t work on people like us.

No matter how stringently he tries to deny it, Soludo is clearly envious of Peter Obi, and I will give you five reasons why he is;

1. Peter Obi is a multibillionaire with clear evidences of how he made his every Kobo, and who, even though has never been indicted by any anti-graft agency in this country. If Soludo claims that he is a billionaire today, we will subject him to thorough investigation because he has been a salary earner all his life, and with what we know about his legitimate earnings, he would be a thief to be a billionaire.

2. Peter Obi is the most popular and masses-oriented Nigerian politician alive. Soludo would be ready to sacrifice everything he has to enjoy 10% of the love Peter Obi enjoys from Nigerians.

3. Peter Obi has kept a clean record throughout his stay in public office.

Had Soludo not been desperately romancing with every government in power, he would probably had been in jail now for the multibillion Naira scam he is being investigated for by the EFCC.

4. Peter Obi’s first political outing was on his own terms, when he won the governorship of Anambra State, Soludo may be one obscure and probably frustrated lecturer in some not too ivy league University somewhere, if Obasanjo hadn’t been sold a dummy that he was hiring a firebrand economist, who turned out to be the shlockiest appointee in Obasanjo’s economic and who would have wrecked our economy had Obasanjo not had an Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the helm of the economic team.

5. Peter Obi governed Anambra for eight years without using the power of a governor or the resources of Ndi Anambra to fund his children’s career. In less than one year as Anambra governor, Chief Soludo has used Anambra’s resources and his powers as governor to organize a fashion show for his daughter and to launch an album for his son. It is clear enough that without him becoming Anambra governor, these children of his might have as well not got any mention in the industry they are trying to play in.

You do not say that someone is your friend, you show that you are someone’s friend. Yours is certainly not the kind of friendship anyone would want to keep, because you are a dangerous friend. No true friend takes to the public to sing about purported private discussions he had with a friend.

Assuming you actually offered Peter Obi the option of joining APGA to run for presidency, it is because Peter Obi has seen through your treachery and knows that APGA would not provide the platform for him to run an effective and successful presidential campaign, that he turned down that poisoned chalice of a gift. And you cannot claim to be a true democrat in one breath and in another boast about how you planned to impose someone as your Party’s candidate without following the laid down democratic principles of election. Peter Obi joined Labour Party because no single individual would decide what happens to him and what doesn’t. The APGA ticket was a setup to extinguish the fire of his campaign. And, would he have been joining the Victor Oye illegal executive or the authentic executive led by Edozie Njoku?

Describing majority of Nigerians, especially, the youths, as a headless mob, is the height of your insolence to Nigerians and confirms that you are an illegitimate democrat. Nigerians who are frustrated with perennial bad governance, incompetence and wickedness of your ilk, cannot be so disrespected by you without consequences. And I know that the day of reckoning won’t be far away.

It is unfortunate but no longer surprising that in your desperation to please your paymasters you choose to ridicule the Igbo nation by portraying us, in public, as political illiterates and a tribe of thugs and emotive mob of irrational partisans. I will like to educate you that no one who has ever sold off his family land to strangers ever gets a good resting place. One day, you shall answer for this ascerbic derogation of the Igbo race for political convenience, and if you do not, I assure you, your children shall.

Peter Obi is not running as an Igbo candidate, but as a candidate of all truly displeased and patriotic Nigerians. I will be glad to read your contribution to the Igbo political development and liberation or even education, beyond your sycophancy to Aso Rock, and any power bloc you believed could assist your ascent to Agu Awka.

You might have read the best books in economics and probably written wonderful essays in economic theories, but you are certainly not the kind of economist I would want to hire to manage any investment for me if you could argue that it is better to throw money around in hosting Iche na mmadu bu ewu kind of parties than saving for the rainy days or investing with an intent for bigger returns in future.

I am not an aide to Peter Obi, hence, I do not have any briefing on this subject matter, and I also consider this as un-serious writing, hence, won’t waste my useful time digging for certain information I know is in the public domain, but as someone who has traded since he knew how to walk and talk, I can tell you that an investment can never go wrong and saving money can never be a wrong decision.

My elementary economics teacher taught me about scale of preference and opportunity cost, and I know by common-sense that no leader or business executive would ever be able to solve all the problems of an institution or a State. Peter Obi saved, because he knew he wasn’t going to be governor forever and he left enough money in the banks for his successor to fund his own ideas and continue from where he stopped.

Your claim to building Nigeria’s foreign reserves to “an all time 63 billion dollars” and paying off external debts validates your notoriety for chalartanism and arrogance in ignorance. You were neither the Commander-in-Chief, nor the head of the Nigerian Economic team. You were not even the Minister of Finance, but a mere banker, whose biggest achievement was awarding contentious contracts for the reprinting of the Naira and the controversial and scandal ridden bank reforms. Your loudest policy proposal was the failed re-denomination of the Naira, which better trained economists confirmed would have made the Nigerian currency a wreck of valueless papers and useless metals as coins.

As for the question of what our great leaders Nnamdi Azikiwe and M.I Okpara would have done had they been around at this period in our political history. My simple answer is that they would have recommended your type to be served as burnt offering to whatever deity the Isuofians hold sacred, because over the last 23 years, you have been closely associated with those in Aso Rock, it has never been found that you used your contacts for the development of Ala Igbo or the advancement of her political causes.

You know, I am still babysitting and my dear wife needs some rest, so let me cut your few remaining paragraphs short so I can tend to my little baby.

I want to tell you that the lines I love most in your envy-laden dirty job are the areas where you tried to sound like the bad analyst that you are, by adducing lousy arguments why Peter Obi cannot win. You also made a not very smart attempt to directly campaign for your boss, Bola Tinubu. But I will pray that the good God keeps us alive and mentally lucid to be come back to that argument after February, 2023.

We are going into an election, and elections are not called until the final ballots are tallied and counted. But you claim that Peter Obi cannot win any State and that he is only going to get 25% in only four States. This part of your essay is what interests me most, because at the end, it will serve to better unravel you before Nigerians as a fortunate, sneaky and bookwormish economist, who only knows how to copy and paste and cram and vomit, but who lacks the most basic mental alacrity to arrive at good judgements or analysis on any issue.

I will throw this challenge to you and wait for the D-day; Peter Obi will win at least 10 States outright, and garner the 25% required in a number of States. The Obidients are not going to be complacent, hence, I am not going to tell you most assuredly, that we will win, but I will assure you that we will work out asses out to ensure that we win. Go back and read the man in the Arena again, only this time replace “the man” with “the Nigerians in the Arena”. Only be assured that we will not be deterred by the “cold and timid souls” like Soludo, because we know that even if “we fail, at least we fail while daring greatly.”

Imo Police Unravel The Mystery Behind The Disappearance Of Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu With Two Suspects Arrested

IMO POLICE UNRAVEL THE MYSTERY SURROUNDING THE DISAPPEARANCE OF A YOUNG LADY, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FOR HER MURDER AND RECOVERED THE SUSPECTED MURDER WEAPON

Following a case of Missing Person reported on the 24/10/2022 by the family of young woman, Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu aged 36yrs who left home for work at HALIM 633 SYNERGY COOKING GAS STATION, Toronto/Road Safety by MCC Road Owerri, Imo State and never returned home.

After a futile search, the family decided to complain to the Commissioner of Police through a petition written by one Pastor Mrs Precious Abara. On receipt of the petition, it was immediately referred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation. Detectives from the FORENSIC SECTION were detailed to investigate in conjunction with a team of CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATORS (CSI’s) led by Inspector Obele Fredrick.

The investigating team, on the 26/10/2022 at about 1200 hours left the Police Headquarters to the scene of crime on investigation, armed with Forensic Equipments. On arrival, preliminary investigation revealed that Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu who doubles as the Secretary/Cashier of the Gas Plant, takes the weekly money sales to the bank on Tuesday’s and manages the day to day running of the company because the owner who resides abroad entrust the business in her care.

These unfolding revelations gave the team of detectives an insight into puzzle surrounding the disappearance of the lady and a thorough searching was made in the premises of the entire gas station for clues. Unfortunately, nothing incriminating was discovered hence they move to the back of the COOKING GAS STATION, in the course of searching, a blood stain was observed on the wall of the fence, this made the team to suspect fowl play hence, they carefully and professionally traced the blood stain to an area where dried grasses were packed deceptively with two heavy stones placed on them to create an impression that nothing has been done around area for long time. But, the operatives were not fooled. They removed the heavy stones, the grasses and gently dugged out the earth, alas an offensive stench oozed out. Excitedly, they dug further only to discover it was a shallow grave, inside was a shovel and a cutlass and the decomposing body of Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu. Consequently, the corpse was exhumed, the shovel and cutlass recovered to the Station. Hypothetically, it is reasonably suspected that the two items recovered in the shallow grave are the murder weapons used in killing the victim.

The corpse was later evacuated and deposited at Federal Medical Centre mortuary for autopsy. Two suspects have been arrested and are undergoing interrogation for the gruesome murder of Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu while, two others are on the run. The police operatives are not relenting in their search for the fleeing suspects and within the shortest possible time, they will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking to the media after the strategic meeting, the Opposition Spokesperson said the Opposition family is pleased with Obasanjo’s efforts and acts of statesmanship in Nigeria and Africa, and pleaded with the former President to intervene and ensure that Nigeria’s 2023 election is credible and held in compliance with the law, in an atmosphere that is open, participatory, free and fair.

The CUPP Spokesperson said he used the opportunity to appreciate and extend the commendation of the Opposition to Obasanjo’s peace-building interventions in Africa especially in Ethiopia where the warring factions are about to resolve all issues that have led to many years of bloodletting and crisis.

He added that Obasanjo’s intervention is also needed more now at home where many pressing challenges have created tension, economic crisis and mutual distrust which have now become potential threats to peaceful election and transition.

A situation that urgently calls for Obasanjo’s prowess in international advocacy, before it’s too late.

Ikenga praised Obasanjo during the visit for the strong institutions and sectors he built during his reign from telecom, to road infrastructure, anti-corruption institution and due process, most of which are now being abused with just a few still standing and holding back Nigeria from total collapse.

The Opposition Coalition Spokesperson Ikenga, conveyed the message of the Opposition pleading for Obasanjo’s fatherly intervention as an international statesman, to step out and actively get involved in using his respected global reach and advocacy to ensure Nigeria’s democracy and upcoming election are conducted in an atmosphere of free,fair and participatory election where the electoral rules are obeyed.

The Opposition Coalition stated that at this moment, Nigeria needs the fatherly support of Obasanjo and his international allies to ensure that Nigeria is not undermined and elections are credibly conducted without intimidation or interference of the opposition parties, or clampdown, manipulation or intimidation of electoral institutions in any way.

Secessionist Calls Caused By Marginalisation – Lawan

ABUJA – The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has identified marginalisation as the reason behind the clamour for secession by some parts of the country.

Lawan on Wednesday in Abuja also advised leaders in the country not to ignore concerns by any part decrying the marginalisation of its people.

The Senate President warned that ignoring such clamour will dwindle citizens’ patriotism and create walls of division in the country, while also inflaming more calls for the Balkanisation of Nigeria.

He stated this in an address delivered at the presentation of a book, “Foundations of Nigeria’s Unity,” authored by the Senator representing Cross Rivers Central and Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Cross River State, Sandy Onor.

Speaking at the NAF Conference Centre, the venue of the event, Senator Lawan said, “There is no part of this country that does not cry about marginalisation from time to time, but, I think, some of these tendencies of pull-away are centrifugal tendencies created by the elites.

“It is our duty as leaders to look into those genuine calls when our citizens complain.

“Where we find justifications, we shouldn’t shy away from addressing those calls to make our citizens more patriotic.
“It is a proven fact, as the book argues, that nations are made by men and women, by peoples and communities, who are painstaking in efforts at staying as one, and harnessing their diversities for greatness.

“This process has been the hallmark of nations in history, which is why some of the greatest nations on planet earth are neither completely homogenous nor heterogeneous.

“They have moved on to higher levels by deliberately working on their diversities, and making the best out of it through resolves, regulations and the instrument of good governance.

“Growth and development are neither a function of the commonality of culture nor the disparities in traditions.

“Progress come through the determination of a people to stay together, leveraging on the vision and mission of the constitution and the leadership.

“Calls for separation are therefore inimical to efforts at nation-building, especially if the consequences of this are put into proper perspective.

Breaking: Obasanjo Successfully Brings Peace To Ethiopia

President Olusegun Obasanjo has successfully negotiated a cessation of hostilities between the Ethiopian government and the Tigrayans.

The former Nigerian President who is currently the African Union High Representative for the Horn of Africa achieved this feat following concerted negotiations he led, which saw the warring groups agree to peaceful resolution of whatever their issues might be.

Speaking from South Africa, President Obasanjo who is seen by many as the Father of modern day Nigeria and one of the most influential statesmen in the world, said that the two sides in the conflict have agreed to a disarmament plan, as well as unhindered access to humanitarian services. The BBC quoted him as saying.

Chief Obasanjo, 85, has undertaken several successful peace missions as a respected UN and African Union envoy.

Ugbaja Victor Chinedu “Akataobi Ideato Nation” has joined other notable Nigerians for condole the ace music star David Adeleke popularly known as Davido and wife Chioma over the death of their three year old son, master Ifeanyi Adeleke.

Ifeanyi, three-year-old reportedly drowned in the family’s swimming pool in Lagos and was underwater for an unspecified period before he was spotted.

Akataobi while fielding questions pressmen in Owerri Tuesday said that it grieved him since he read it on the internet last night, he said at first he did not take it serious thinking it’s a fake news, that may be his enemies are behind, but upon confirmation it was like a dream, describing the the tragedy as a heavy loss not only to the immediate family but to all his fans across the Nigeria and the world at large.

The police spokesperson in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyi, on Tuesday morning, confirmed that singer Davido‘s son, Ifeanyi, died in an alleged swimming pool accident.

The sad news of the singer’s son’s death broke on social media late Monday after actress Eniola Badmus posted it on her Instagram. Which she subsequently deleted.

Reports said some of the singer’s aides and staff had been arrested.

He said, “Eight of them (workers) have been brought in for questioning.”

After he was discovered at bottom of the pool he was allegedly rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Hon. Ugbaja Victor Chinedu “Akataobi Ideato” has consoled Ohaneze Ndi Igbo over the death of Elder Statesman and a true nationalist Chief Mbazulike Amechi.

Akataobi who is the APGA Candidate for Ideato North in the Imo State House Of Assembly said while taking to GISTHUB24.com in Owerri that the death of Pa Amechi is great loss to Nigeria, owing to the fact that people him is what Nigeria needs now to give advise in many areas, but he also that God for a good life lived by Chief Amechi and nodded that he has indeed done his part and it’s time to rest.

The late Amaechi was a first minister of aviation in the First Republic.

A statement issued Tuesday by his eldest son, Ezeana Amaechi, on behalf of the family, said the elder statesman died in the early hours of the day.

“With total deference to the will of the Almighty God, the Ume Amaechi, Ezeana Ihidede families and Umu Mmara kindred of Amihe Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State announce the peaceful transition of our illustrious son, father and grandfather, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi,” the statement read in part.

“We thank God for the fulfilled life that he lived, the lives he touched and service to God and country,” the family added.

He was 93 years old.

His death occurs about one year after he lost his wife, Chinelo Amaechi.

Chinelo died at the age of 91 years.

Mr Amaechi, a nationalist, was among those who fought for the independence of Nigeria from Great Britain.

…Seals barons 7 mansions in Lagos, Ibadan; blocks N217million in bank account

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has declared wanted Lagos socialite and owner of Adekaz Hotels, Alhaji Ademola Afolabi Kazeem (a.k.a Alhaji Abdallah Kazeem Muhammed) over offences bordering on exportation and trafficking of illicit drugs as well as money laundering.

The decision to declare the suspect wanted followed his failure to honour NDLEA invitations and an order granted the Agency by a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday 17th October 2022. The wanted drug kingpin was uncovered as the sponsor of some traffickers arrested by the anti-narcotics agency in their recent attempt to export cocaine to Dubai, UAE and other destinations outside Nigeria.

Soon after the arrest of one of his mules, Bolujoko Muyiwa Babalola, a Lagos BRT driver on 27th June at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Alhaji Ademola Kazeem who is also the Chairman of Adekaz Global Integrated Services, went underground. Following his failure to honour invitations sent to him, the Agency approached a Federal High Court in Lagos with three prayers: to attach and seal his identified properties in Lagos and Ibadan; declare him wanted and block his bank account with a cash balance of Two Hundred and Seventeen Million Naira (N217,000,000.00), all of which were granted.

As a result, NDLEA operatives on Wednesday 26th October 2022 sealed six of the identified properties located on Lagos Island. They include: 105 Tokunbo street off Broad street, Lagos Island; 1 Abibu Oki street off Marina, Lagos Island; 3 Abibu Oki street off Marina, Lagos Island; 54 Palm Church street, Lagos Island; 26 Agarawu street, Lagos Island; and 41 Foresythe street, Lagos Island. The other one is located at 1 Irepodun zone, Adepoju bus stop, Ajoda Ayedun, Ibadan, Oyo state.

In a related development, the Agency on Friday 28th October arrested another drug baron, Udemezue Obunike William at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on his return from Brazil. His arrest with the support of the Nigeria Immigration Service followed the earlier arrest of some drug couriers linked to Udemezue as their sponsor. They include two mules: Messrs Adolphus Anayochukwu Okeke and Anayo Michael Nnanna. The 52-year-old father of four children who claimed to be a businessman, Okeke Adolphus Anayochukwu was arrested at the Abuja airport by NDLEA operatives with 20.75 kilograms of black liquid cocaine on Tuesday 15th March upon his arrival onboard Qatar Airways flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil through Doha, Qatar to Abuja. The liquid was discovered upon search of his luggage stuffed with six smaller bags containing 32-makeup mascara, which tested positive to cocaine.

On the other hand, a Brazilian returnee Nnanna Anayo Michael, 39, was arrested at the Port Harcourt International Airport, PHIA, during the inward screening of passengers on board Qatar Airline flight QR1433 from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Doha to Port Harcourt on Tuesday, 29th March. Nnanna was arrested with 73 sachets weighing 8.15 kilograms of cocaine, which is the largest seizure of such at the airport, since it began international flight operations years ago.

Further investigations of the two traffickers revealed Udemezue Obunike William as the drug baron behind the cocaine cartel. As a result, he was watch-listed and arrested upon his return from Brazil on Friday 28th October.

In his reaction, Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), CON, OFR, commended the officers and men of the Agency involved in the clinical investigation that led to the unmasking of the two barons. He said gone are the days when drug kingpins can hide behind traffickers and remain faceless, warning that the new NDLEA will continue to unravel them one after the other if they fail to back out of the criminal trade.

Barr Uche Onyeagucha has called on the Inspector General of Police to swiftly intervene to check the escalated wave of kidnapping in Obinze Community and other parts of Owerri West. Hon. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and some elderstatemen in the state, Minda Leaders of Thoughts, have withdrawn their support for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar over alleged hate speech and profiling of Benue people.

Ortom accused the PDP candidate of dishonoring him as Governor and working against the interest of Benue residents.

Ortom’s rejection was triggered by Atiku’s alleged comments on the recent killings by suspected herdsmen in Benue state.

The governor allegedly claimed Atiku is working with Miyetti Allah.

Speaking on Tuesday at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Makurdi, Ortom said, “It was not correct for a presidential candidate who is seeking to rule the people to say that kind of thing.

“It was very wrong. And it would appear that he doesn’t even reference me and consider me to be a governor of my state.”

Ortom also said Atiku had sidelined him in selecting his presidential campaign team.

Ortom further said, “I am not in his campaign team. The people they appointed there, no consent from me. So, I’ll remain on my own. But I’m waiting; when the election comes, we shall vote the election according to the election.”

Wickedness: Father Breaks His Two Months Old Son With Hanger For Disturbing His Sleep With Cry 😭😭

Father allegedly b£ats his 2-month-old son with hanger in Imo for disturbing his sleep, breaks the baby’s arm leading to amputation

The National Human Right Commission (NHRC) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Imo State chapter have called on the Imo State Government and the Nigeria Police Force to immediately arrest and prosecute one Mr Confidence Amatobi, for allegedly assaulting his 2-month-old baby, Miracle.

Mr Amatobi was said to have assaulted little Miracle with a plastic hanger and broke the baby’s arm for disturbing his sleep.

The incident led to the amputation of the fractured arm at the Pediatrics ward of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Owerri.

NAWOJ, NHRC and the aggrieved mother of baby Miracle, made the call for justice in Owerri the Imo State Capital.

Imo State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Dr Dorothy Nnaji who spoke to newsmen after visiting the amputated boy at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owerri, confirmed that the injury inflicted by the 31-year-old father, a native of Amurie in Isu LGA of the state, led to the amputation of the little boy’s right hand.

Mrs Nnaji who frowned at the dastardly cruel act of Mr Amatobi expressed shock that a father could assault his innocent child simply because he was crying and disturbing his sleep.

She disclosed that Mr Amatobi was reported to have repeatedly hit the baby with a plastic hanger to stop him from crying until the right hand broke.

“The perpetrator, Mr. Confidence Amatobi, who hails from Amurie in Isu L.G.A used a plastic hanger on the baby, simply because he was crying that the 20-year-old mother left to ease herself. He used wood and elastic bands to tie the baby’s hand when he saw that hand was broken and swollen,” Mrs Nnaji said.

“He locked the mother and baby to prevent her from talking to neighbours or seeking help. He also took her phone from her. After two days she found her way out and sought help from her neighbours. The guy was arrested by a vigilante but he escaped. By the time help came, the baby’s hand was already decayed. The only option was to cut off baby Miracle’s right hand from shoulder,”

“I feel for the 20 year old Favor Chikwe who is too young to go through all this stress just because she went to easy herself. I am calling on lmo State Judiciary and all spirited individuals and Government to give justice to this innocent boy whose only crime was that he cried like any other baby.” she added.

Similarly, the Imo State Coordinator NHRC, Mrs Ukachi Ukah, while reacting to the incident also condemned the brutality and insisted that justice must be allowed to take its course.

Narrating her ordeal, the mother of Miracle, Mrs Favour Chikwe, 20, who hails from Idemili Community, Anambra State disclosed that she had left Miracle with his father on Friday, October 7, 2022, to use the convenience, when the incident happened.

Favour recalled that she overheard her baby crying uncontrollably and had to rush back to know the cause of her cry only for her to discover that his right hand was swollen and bone broken from the beating he received from his father.

Amatobi, it was learnt, confessed that the baby was disturbing him with his cry while he was sleeping and he had to try to stop him by battering him.

“Upon noticing that he has broken the baby’s hand, he used sticks and rubber bands to bind the broken bones together,” she said.

“When l confronted him about what he did, he locked us in the room, to prevent me from telling people about his wicked deed or seek for help. He also collected my phone from me so that I will not call the neighbours.”

She narrated how she managed to take the baby to hospitals in the community that refused to treat the baby before she took him to FMC Owerri where the amputation was done.

The woman appealed for support to save her child while calling on the state government, NHRC and other civil society organisations to assist her to get justice for her son.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Assistant District Superintendent of Owerri East District, Rev. Okechukwu Esom, PhD congratulated the celebrant for his successful completion of service noting that Rev. C. C. Ogbedede worked accordingly and finished strong without going on any suspension or even causing the church problems.

Rev Esom who dwelt on the topic “Retired But Not Tired!!” with a Text taken from Numbers 8:22-26 stressed that Retirement is a good development that everyone prays for while calling on all and sundry to be well prepared psychologically, socially and financially among other factors to fully embrace it when it comes.

Uzodinmma A Governor Any State That Wants Sound Development Can Pray For

This piece, no doubt is capable of making the stomach of the opposition elements to purge including few negatively brainwashed others who probably live outside the state but know little to nothing about the real situation down here in Imo state. Unfortunately, we live in a society where the only thing that matters is just partisan sentiment. In order words, whatever one does in government does not mean anything to the opposition so long as he is not from the same political party with you. If you like, use gold to construct the road leading to their houses, they will still abuse you. This is the bane of our political and democratic situation. It is a quagmire of sort.

Otherwise, anybody who is sincere in his or her heart and who can take a retrospect of where we were as a people in Imo state before Sen Uzodimma came in will attest to the fact that, though not yet uhuru but certainly Imo state is on a speed lane developmentally. There are alot of positive changes and the future of Imo Is looking up progressively under the present government of Hope Uzodimma. This is the simple fact. It does not matter if you are offended in your hateful heart by this fact or not. There are pointers to this fact.

It is interesting that today, you could see many people complaining and reporting one bad road in Imo or the other which they keep urging and wanting the government to fix urgently. This is expected when people see a government that is working. This is clearly because they have seen a government that is anxiously fixing many other hitherto bad roads and that is why you could see the impatience as everybody wants every road fixed at the same time.

Afterall, those roads had been there under the previous governments but the people were not bordered because there was no serious and sincere attempt to get them done like the present government is doing. Regrettably, that cannot be possible to get all the roads in Imo constructed within a short period of two, three or four years because resources are not limitless.. Some will be done next tenure.

In Imo state today, sanity has returned. The mad rush for acquisituon of state assets using state fiat by those in government has seized. There is now a seamless payment of salaries and pension as there is no more delay because of corruption induced over bloated payroll system in the state. We no longer see Treasurers of LGA carrying money in Ghana- Must- Go bags every money to pay Workers manually through which the siphon huge sums of money and buy properties all over the places. Workers and Pensioners do not sleep at the floor of banking halls waiting for their pay every month. There is no more staggered payment where one ministry receive 70% and other receive 80% etc. All that are now stories of yester years.

In Imo under Uzodimma, there is a low level of corruption in governance. There is no more cases of Governor’s siblings and Governor’s Wife becoming clearing Houses for getting one favour from government or the other. Unlike before, when Governor’s siblings are hotly sought after as people beseech their hotel rooms and private residence to pay obedience in solicitation and expectation of one favour or the other. Such situation has given way for meritocracy and discipline.

Truly, any state who wants to witness real governance that is tinted with discipline and decency will pray to have the likes of Uzodimma as Governor. There is no more belligerency between the Imo state government and the federal government; between Imo state government and some Churches like Catholic and Anglican. The dichotomy between different faith based organizations in the state is no more in existence under the governorship of Hope Uzodimma.

There is no more profligacy in the running of government. Justifications are sought for and proof are provided before public funds are released. The use of holligans or thugs by those in government in dealing with situation or executing government policies and programs as a show of power is now a thing of the past. All these are facts that cannot be disputed.

Imo state is today experiencing governance in a somewhat civilized and decent form and shape under Uzodimma.
Although, as I earlier said, it is not yet uhuru as Imo state has not moved to its permanent site yet but no doubt, there is a silver lining in the cloud under the present regime.

No Deaths Recorded At IDP Camps In Anambra — Health Commissioner

As Government Takes Immunization To Flood Victims’ Camps

Awka Contrary to insinuations in some sections of the online media that persons displaced by flood are suffering hunger, malnutrition, mosquito bites, government rejection and abandonment at the holding centres across the Anambra state, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ben Afam Obidike says all are totally untrue because flood victims get the very best of care and attention.

Obidike who spoke with our correspondent in an exclusive interview, explained that the IDPs are receiving comprehensive medical care in all the camps across the state and that the Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has ensured constant supply of drugs and other medications to meet the health needs of the flood victims.

Obidike maintained that government is spending huge sums of money to mitigate possibilities of outbreaks or epidemics as he observed that the victims are clustered in their respective refuge camps, adding that apart from surgeries, antenatal care, routine anti-malaria drugs and some others administered on them, government has taken immunization to the various camps to inoculate children against preventable diseases.He said no deaths have been recorded at the holding centres and that the medical teams in all the identified internally displaced persons camps are working day and night; providing adequate response services and ensuring good hygiene practices in the camps due to population densities.

According to him, most of the IDP camps are linked to general hospitals or primary healthcare centres for referrals especially at General Hospital Onitsha where the Commissioner informed that Governor Soludo mandated that no flood victim referred to the hospital should pay a dime after treatment of any ailment.

The Commissioner also stated that Cesarian Sessions have been held at the IDP camps where women delivered twin babies safe and sound and they didn’t pay a Kobo.

That routine antenatal checks and scans are also being conducted on pregnant women at the IDP camps and their routine drugs also given to them. The Commissioner equally stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have both taken a tour of the IDP camps across the state and did not ascertain cholera outbreak or any other outbreak while extolling hygiene practices at the holding centres.

He said the Ministry of Health has distributed more than a thousand mosquito nets to IDP camps and that prior to the flooding, about 3.8 million mosquito nets were shared to Ndi-Anambra to protect them from mosquito bites and malaria infections.

That the Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo had on his visits to the flood victims’ camps personally distributed mosquito nets to them noting that the governor was consistently extending compassion, affection and empathy to the IDPs.He said the governor has paid unscheduled visits to over six internally displaced persons camps and on each occasion reassured the flood victims that his government will not abandon them to their fate.

Again, the Commissioner reiterated the fact that government will begin immunization at the IDP camps inorder to administer COVID-19 vaccines and other vaccines to forestall health crisis, stressing that government will continue to carry out comprehensive healthcare services, provide food and other relief materials for the upkeep and well-being of flood victims in their respective holding centres.

How Oliver De Coque’s Most Kept Secret Took Him To An Early Grave As Told By His Son

(April 14, 1947 – June 20, 2008. Age: 61)

HIS NAME, HIS MUSIC & HIS LIFESTYLE

Chief Dr. Oliver Sunday Akanite popularly known as Oliver De Coque was a Nigerian highlife musician and guitarist who has more than 50 albums to his credit and whose career lasted over 4 decades, making him one of the most popular highlife kings in Africa. Oliver and his music band group, ‘Ogene Sound Super of Africa’ blended modern highlife and traditional Igbo music.
The music star had 12 kids; 7 boys and 5 girls and they all enjoyed their father’s presence. “It was awesome. My siblings and I didn’t see him as a famous person. He was a normal, caring, jovial and loving dad to us,” Darlington Akanite, one of his sons disclosed.
While growing up, Oliver was popularly called, ‘The Game Master’ because he was good at the game of Draft. Draft in Igbo language is ‘Okwe.’ So, People began to call him ‘Oliver Di ka Okwe.’ He then changed the name to sound more like a French name; that was how he came up with, ‘Oliver De Coque.’

HIS SIGNATURE LOOK

He loved to buy clothes and spent a lot of money maintaining his looks. Infact, he spent #30,000 on his beard weekly and that amounted to #120,000 monthly. He visited his Salon twice a week and always said his beard was his Signature look. He said that if someone decided to keep a beard, it was right to maintain it.

HIS SICKNESS & HOW HE DIED

He fell ill at the end of 2007. He was diabetic and hypertensive. Most artistes don’t like to disclose their health challenge and his son is of the opinion that if Oliver had told people about his health challenge, he would have gotten help quickly. “He was ill for three months. He then recovered in February 2008 and began to go for shows. He died on June 20 but he had planned to travel to the U.S on July 2 for checkup,” Darlington added. He went further to tell the press that it was as if his father knew he was going to die because on the day he died, he decided to stay indoors. “And he told me to stay by his side.” “That morning after he had his brekfast, he began to feel ill and cancelled his appointments for the day. I didn’t know it was a serious matter; all I could do was to console him. I went to the bathroom to take a shower and then told him that I wanted to visit a few friends but he begged me not to leave his side and I became upset. I thought he was just depriving me of having fun.

I grudgingly stayed back.”
While Darlington stayed with him, he began to tell him how he started his career. As he was telling the story, he complained of not breathing well. Oliver then decided that he should be taken to the hospital. On their way to the hospital, he told the driver to increase the air-condition that he was feeling hot.

His son became scared when he started to shout, “Wheelbarrow! Wheelbarrow! Darlington, please bring a Wheelbarrow.” It was after his death, Darlington who wondered what was happening realised that the highlife maestro was referring to a WheelChair not actually a Wheelbarrow.

“I think he was becoming paralysed and unconscious. He was rushed to the emergency ward when we got to the hospital. And throughout his time in the hospital, he kept begging me to save him but there was nothing I could have done,” the Son said.
He held Darlington’s hand close to his side as he took his last breathe. His son closed his eyes and kissed him on the forehead. “I was so confused about all that happened.”

LESSON

His son believes that more than 200 Igbo people would have laid their lives down for him if he had made his health condition public.

‘We Now Sleep On Bridges, Roadside’, Anambra Residents Sacked By Flood Lament Neglect

More than five thousands of victims of the flood disaster that ravaged over ten out of 21 local government areas of Anambra state have raised the alarm over dearth of drugs, food and bedding materials.

The victims, who are across various internally displaced persons ((IDP) camps set up by the state government, expressed concern for their safety.

Daily Trust Correspondent who visited the Rev. Fr. Joseph Memorial High School, Umueri, Umuoba Anam and Umueze Anam camps, all in Anambra’ East and those of Anambra’ West local government areas of the state observed absence of officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

Governor Charles Soludo visited the camp two weeks and since then officials have stayed away.

In Anambra’ East and West, majority of the victims who converged on Umueze Anam Bridge and Otuocha Daily Market bridge road have been sleeping in open space for over two weeks due to absence of shelter.

At Umueze Anam bridge, residents built cubicles and makeshift beds where nursing mothers and old people pass the night.

The flood has forced traders of Otuocha Daily market to do their business along the Otuocha-Awkuzu road.

In an interview, a market woman, Mrs Nkiruka Kwalo, said, “We are not happy at all because those relief materials are being diverted and our people are dying of hunger; we also need is money to go back to farm when the flood receedes.”

“Most of us sleep on the top of this bridge and so much mosquitoes and our children are exposed to all types of illness and nobody is coming to our aid,” she said.

Also, at Unity Hall Umuoba Anam, community leaders were seen battling to control little children struggling for sachets of noodles along with nursing mothers even as they complained bitterly about hunger and shelter.

President General of Umuoba Anam, Mr Omenwa Victor, told newsmen that out of 1,200 displaced persons in the camp, only 37 matrasses were provided for them.

They decried the situation where the rest sleep on the floor.

According to him, “We are managing the much we could do but the number is to much and we only have thirty seven matrass for 1,200 persons so the rest sleep on the floor. The governor visited us about a week ago and they promised to bring more as well as food and we are still waiting for them. We need food for the children and we thank those who have been coming to help us,” he added.

Buildings worth several billions of naira were submerged in the flood disaster, while about 25 persons died from the flood which wreaked many homes, businesses, churches and schools.

Several schools have been shut down by the state government.

The federal government says it is still understudying the extent of effect of the flood disaster across states.

But Soludo has challenged the federal government and lawmakers to treat the situation with expediency.

When he featured on a Channels Television programme, the governor said the country must hold a national conversation about flooding to prevent a recurrence.

“We can no longer deal with perennial flooding as an emergency. We knew it would happen. We know the next one will come. A year or two from now another massive one will come and the country must begin to prepare and ask what if it happens again, what would be our response. And that conversation must become a national conversation in the run-up to next year’s election.
I think the National Assembly, the presidency must give a more forceful response, especially in the next two to three weeks when the flooding recedes,” he stated.

IPOB: Enugu State Government Suspends Traditional Ruler For Allowing Alleged IPOB, ESN Activities In Community.

SaharaReporters reliably gathered that the traditional ruler was arrested on Thursday, when the Nigerian Army in a joint operation with operatives of Department of State Services (DSS) and various police tactical squads invaded the community.

Sources told SaharaReporters that the traditional ruler was arrested for allowing alleged members of the Eastern Security Network and other pro-Biafra militias groups operate from his community.

The traditional ruler was allegedly arrested on the road to Isingwu village in his community where the ESN camp was located.

Another source told SaharaReporters that a cabinet member of the traditional ruler was arrested few weeks ago shortly after a joint security checkpoint was attacked.

The said cabinet member was alleged to have been giving information to suspected members of ESN who were fingered to have carried the attack from the community.

However, sequel to the arrest of the traditional ruler, the Enugu State Government said in the statement suspending him said that he was being suspended over allegations of conduct inimical to the security of the state.

The statement added his suspension would remain, pending investigations, subsequent findings and recommendations to the state government.

Nnamdi Kanu: Legal Team To Approach DSS Office Over His Release

About 72 hours after being set free by the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is still being held in the custody of the Department of State Services, The PUNCH learnt on Sunday.

But Senior Counsel for Kanu and Lead Counsel for the IPOB, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said the legal team would be formally approaching the DSS Headquarters on Monday with the enrolled order of court and judgement of the Court of Appeal, which would be available for immediate compliance.

While citing legal authorities, he said the freedom of Nnamdi Kanu, which was his fundamental and constitutionally guaranteed right, could not be stayed.

Should the government and its security agencies refuse to release Kanu, he said far-reaching extant legal remedies, including reporting Nigeria to international agencies, would be activated to ensure immediate compliance with the court order.

Ejiofor said these in an interview with The PUNCH in Abuja.

The PUNCH reported that the Court of Appeal (Abuja Division) had on Thursday freed Kanu of the terrorism and treasonable felony charges preferred against him by the Federal Government.

The three-member panel of Justices of the Appellate Court had, in the judgement, set aside the judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which quashed eight out of 15 counts charge preferred against Kanu.

The Appellate Court in the unanimous judgement delivered by Justice Oludotun Adefope-Okojie declared as illegal and unlawful the abduction of Kanu from Kenya to Nigeria and quashed the entire seven charges retained by the trial court against him on the ground that the Federal Government breached all local and international laws in the forceful rendition of Kanu to Nigeria, thereby making the terrorism charges against him incompetent and unlawful.

But Ejiofor, who expressed optimism that Kanu would be out of prison today (Monday), advised the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to do the needful by obeying the court order.

He said, “It has been my position that the Federal Government has a right to appeal to the Supreme Court, which is a constitutionally guaranteed right. But the only impediment to the exercise of that right is that the Federal Government must first of all comply with the Order of the Learned Justices of the Court of Appeal which discharged Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and prohibited further indictment or commencing any fresh criminal charge against him.

“It is a settled law, as has been held by the Supreme Court in plethora of cases, including the apex court’s decision in the case of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Vs Lagos State Government, that an appellant will not be in contempt of an order of a lower court, and approach the Supreme Court in search of equitable remedies to stay execution. It is more so when by the effect of the Judgement of the Court Appeal under reference emphatically set aside the order of the lower court and the frivolous charge which had hitherto legitimised his detention from June 29 2022, they are now terminated and became extinct on October 13 2022.

“Furthermore, the freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu which is his fundamental and constitutionally guaranteed right cannot be stayed.

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is yet to be released, though we will be formally approaching the State Security Service Headquarters on Monday with the enrolled order of court, and judgement of the Court of Appeal which will be available on Monday, for immediate compliance. We expect to have Mazi Nnamdi Kanu released to us today, being October 17 2022.

“The Federal Government is yet to file any appeal against the judgement of the Court of Appeal, as at today. But as I had earlier stated, the Federal Government must first of all obey the order of the Court of Appeal and release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been discharged by the Court of Appeal, before challenging the judgement before the Supreme Court.

“It is our position that in the unlikely event that the Federal Government of Nigeria fails to obey the order of the Court of Appeal discharging Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, we will activate far-reaching extant legal remedies to ensure immediate compliance, which remedy may not be limited to resorting to domestic legal remedy, but would be extended to reporting the Federal Government of Nigeria heinous conduct before the relevant international agencies, foreign Institutions and governments. Other legal remedies available to us will not be disclosed here.

“President Muhammadu Buhari had said on various occasions that he would not interfere with the judicial process and that it is the court that would set Mazi Nnamdi Kanu free. The Court of Appeal, the penultimate court, has set Mazi Nnamdi Kanu free, it is now time for President Muhammadu Buhari to keep to his word and ensure that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is released without any further ado.”

While setting Kanu free, the Appellate Court agreed with counsel for the IPOB leader, Dr. Mike Ozekhome, SAN, that Kanu was illegally abducted and extra-ordinary renditioned from Kenya to Nigeria, against both, International and local laws.

“By the illegal abduction and extraordinary rendition of the appellant, there was a clear violation by the respondent to International treaties, conventions, as well as the African Charter on Human and Peoples Right,” the court held.

The Appellate Court said that the Federal Government, having flagrantly breached the fundamental rights of Kanu, lost the legal right to put him on trial, adding also that laws were meant to be obeyed and that the Federal Government had no reason to have taken laws into her own hands in the illegal and unlawful way the matter of Kanu was handled.

The failure of Nigeria to follow due process by way of extradition process as prescribed by law, it said, was fatal to the charges against Kanu and further held that the failure of the Federal Government to disclose where and when the alleged offences brought against Kanu were committed was also fatal to the terrorism charges and made them liable to dismissal.

“By engaging in utter unlawful and illegal acts and in breach of its own laws in the instant matter, the Federal Government did not come to equity in clean hands and must be called to order. With appalling disregard to local and international laws, the Federal Government has lost the right to put the appellant trial for any offence.

“Treaties and Protocols are meant to be obeyed. No government in the world is permitted to abduct anybody without following due process of extradition. Nigeria is not an exception or excused. Nigeria must obey her own law and that of international, so as to avoid anarchy,” the Court held.

The panel also held that the trial court lacked jurisdiction to handle the charges against Kanu, as he was not properly arraigned before the court.

The panel, presided over by Justice Jummai Hanatu, also held that the offences Kanu was alleged to have committed happened in Kenya and not in Nigeria.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja had said in her judgement that counts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 15 showed some allegations, which the IPOB leader had to answer.

But Kanu, through his team of lawyers led by Mike Ozekhome, SAN, filed an appeal marked CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022, praying the court to quash the remaining seven counts for being devoid of merit.

Heavy Shooting In Enugu Community As Troops Raid IPOB Camps

The Akpawfu community in Nkanu East local government of Enugu State is been reported to have come under heavy bombardments following alleged raiding by

troops of secret camps of suspected members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and armed bandits in the area.

The raiding said to have been carried out by land and air troops that stormed the community since Thursday.

It is said to have come to a head in the morning of today with military helicopters dropping explosives in forests within Ajeme Akpawfu village where the hoodlums terrorising parts of Nkanu land and Enugu city are believed to be hiding.
