It’s Not True Nnamdi Kanu Did Not Escape From DSS Custody – Ejimakor

It’s a rumour and lies that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu escapes from DSS custody according to His lawyer Barrister Ejimakor.

Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the lead Counsel of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Official, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Friday denied reports that the agitator escaped from his holding facility at the Department of State Services, DSS, in Abuja.

Ejimakor was reacting to claims that Kanu had escaped from custody.

According to ABN TV Speaking with Ejimakor said: “It’s not true. I will be visiting him today by 2:00 pm. Kanu is a responsible and courageous freedom fighter and he is determined to stay put to fight the injustice within the system, not outside of it. He is too big to contemplate the option of escaping.”

Efforts by correspondent to reach DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, were not successful as he did not pick calls, and text messages sent to his phone were not replied.

It was reported that the IPOB leader escaped from the DSS custody with his case file on Thursday.

The report captioned, ‘Breaking news: Nnamdi Kanu escapes from DSS custody with case file’, said, “According to reliable sources, Kanu’s escape was executed with meticulous planning and precision, catching the authorities off guard.

“Details surrounding the escape remain murky, with speculation ranging from insider assistance to external support.”

DR Ezeife’s Exit; Ndigbo Have Lost An Iroko And Eminent Voice

On behalf of my family and Secretariat of the South East Governors Forum, I extend our deep condolences to the Ezeife family, Anambra State government, the entire Igbo community and Nigeria at large.

Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife’s passing leaves an indelible void, and his legacy as a nationalist and stalwart advocate for Ndigbo resonates profoundly.

His distinguished service as the first executive governor of Anambra state, a federal permanent secretary, and a political luminary marked a significant chapter in our nation’s history. Dr. Ezeife’s unwavering commitment to the betterment of his people and his pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s sociopolitical sphere makes his loss even more profound.

Educationally distinguished and politically astute, he not only earned academic laurels but also dedicated himself to the service of our nation. His contributions as a special adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo exemplify his enduring commitment to the ideals of democracy and governance.

Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, described as an icon, was a figure many Nigerians looked up to, leaving an indelible mark in the sands of time. He spent the greater part of his life working for good governance and humanity, becoming a source of pride not just for the Igbo community but for the entire nation.

Furthermore, Ezeife’s dedication to the unity of our country did not go unnoticed, as he invested most of his time working towards fostering national cohesion.

As we mourn this iconic leader, let us be mindful of his enduring legacies, exemplary leadership, and laudable role in democratic transitions of Anambra State and Nigeria at large. May God grant his soul peaceful repose and comfort the bereaved family.

It was a Revival/ Crusade today as God’s servant The Rev. Dr. Okechukwu Esom preached at the burial of Late Deaconess Juliana Mmaezi Felix Nwama on the Topic: “Stop and ask for the Right Path”.
Text: Jeremiah 6:6-16

The cleric who is the District Superintendent of Owerri East District of the Assemblies of God Nigeria charged the church to live according to the dictates of God.if heaven is their goal.

He charged Believers and Unbelievers to stop and ask if the life they are living is glorifying God.

As a church goer, are born again? Have you given your life to Christ?
Are ready and prepared for death?
If you are still fornicating, stealing, making charms and poison against people, kidnapping and killing people, practicing cultism and robbery, doing 419 etc, do you know that life ia short and everyone will give account of his life.

I don’t care about what you believe, but I care about the Truth, and the Truth is God will judge every wickedness and evil(sin).
Do not be deceived by your church and position, make peace with Jesus today.
Jesus is the way, truth and the life, of you want to know and walk in the right part, come to Jesus today.

Many have their lives to Christ during altar call, while many other rededicated their lives to God.

Innocent Youth Fatally Shot Dead By Ebubeagu Security Outfit In Awo-Omamma

In Umuokwe Awo-Omamma, Oru-East LGA of Imo State, a heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Monday, March

25th, 2024, when a young man became the victim of a fatal shooting that sent him to untimely death by Ebubeagu Security Outfit operatives.

According to reports from ThePressman Newspaper, the identity of the deceased remains undisclosed as of this writing. He had ventured out from his family home to purchase food but tragically encountered the Ebubeagu operatives, resulting in his untimely demise.

The community of Awo-Omamma Oru-East LGA is gripped by shock and sorrow, as captured in a circulating viral video showing residents expressing condemnation and grief over the senseless killing.

This tragic event underscores a disturbing trend of innocent lives lost at the hands of security forces. It prompts serious inquiries into the accountability and oversight of such outfits, particularly Ebubeagu, whose involvement in violence against civilians in Imo State is increasingly apparent.

As investigations progress, authorities must urgently address the underlying causes of such tragedies and ensure justice for the victims and their bereaved families. The community demands accountability and an end to the unjust violence perpetrated by those entrusted with public safety.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Police Command is yet to provide their official statement on the matter.

Building Collapse: Imo Builders Warn Against Use of Nonprofessionals …Dishes Distinction Between Site Workers

People are warned to do away with nonprofessionals in the erection of building projects in society so as to eliminate all forms of quackery and possible damages as well as loss of lives at the long run.

The Nigeria Institute of Building, NIOB, Imo State Chapter aggressively gave the warning in a road walk to mark the 2024 Builders Week last weekend where they advised people to engage professional builders to legitimately go about the brick-on-brick building works on their sites.

Marking the 2024 Builders Week with the theme: The Role of Builders in a Sustainable Housing Delivery, the builders said the recommendations became germane following building collapses across the country, especially the recent two-storey building collapse in Anambra state.

Students of building across the tertiary institutions in the state however trooped out en masse to add their voices in the ample drummed sensitization across the state, so as to stop the incessant loss of lives and property.

Addressing the general public, the Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Building, NIOB, Imo State Chapter, Builder Dr. Andy Osuagwu stressed that “It is only builders that are permitted by law to erect buildings on sites…”, hence the urgent need to roundly engage them in the interpretation and erection of building briefs.

Builder Osuagwu urged property owners to always demand the qualifications of builders before engaging anyone in order to build and deliver buildings right, adding that the sensitization is on a daily basis and not just an annual routine hence called on government to promulgate laws to bring to book offenders in the industry.

“We will stop at nothing until the right thing is done… NIOB Imo state Chapter is not sleeping because of the issues of building collapse because if you are a Medical Doctor and someone dies in your family of a case you can handle due to negligence, it will pain you”

He noted that Architects are trained to draw, and Civil engineers are to calculate the structural loadings of the proposed building while Builders are fully in-charge for erecting the project in ground.

Builder Osuagwu however advised students of Building across board to be alive to the teachings and trainings around the profession, describing it as a noble venture that as well puts food on the table among other unending benefits.

“…Some of the students would claim that they were given Building to study but if you know what the building profession is all about; you will go home and tell your younger ones to fill Building in their JAMB forms. I have not seen any builder that is hungry”

Speaking also, the Chairman 2024 Builders Week Organizing Committee, Builder Samuel Igbokwe described the Builders Day/Week as a very enlightening programme which kicked off with radio shows and ran through “Catch Them Young” programmes with selected Schools in Imo where they were informed about the Built environment and its players including the professional builder.

Builder Igbokwe said the built environment is made up of professionals like the Architect, the structural and electrical and mechanical Engineers, the Builder, Quantity Surveyor, Land Surveyor, Town and Regional Planners; pointing out that the Architect is the one that draws and transfers the brief of the client onto a paper whereas the Engineers come about the structural detailing, then the Quantity Surveyors– costs everything as the cost estimator and hands everything to the Builder: to transfer all the details or briefs to the ground while other professionals visits the site periodically to inspect the details; cross-checking them with their papers.

Giving more insight into the programme, the immediate past Head of Department (HOD) Department of building- Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Builder Onwuka Ethelbert noted that the Builders Week is not only to celebrate builders but to amplify their awesome and constitutionally powered roles in the built environment as well as erecting buildings.

Builder Ethelbert added that NIOB seizes the occasion to highlight the imminent dangers that occurs when professional builders are not engaged to erect projects.

“We enlighten the public to engage a professional builder to avert collapses and the pains around it”

He harped the need for people to rightly know the distinction between who is an Architect, Civil Engineer, Surveyor and Builder as their works are clearly different, noting that no builder have ever been fingered in any building collapse because they have their specific roles in every project and do not mixup for any reason.

“No builder has been involved in building collapse in this country …and my people (builders) cannot be involved in construction of Flyovers because it is not in our area of specialization”

“We are involved in building production and its management and the maintenance process of any building”

Adding his voice, the Secretary of NIOB Imo State Chapter, Builder Nlemuzo Vitalis decried the ugly overriding of the builders work where everyone now answer Engineers on the street.

Builder Nlemuzo however urged government to do whatever deem necessary to domesticate building code to enable prosecution of offenders.

“When the building code is domesticated, you see that if a building collapses, you hold the person responsible and prosecute the person. And once this is done; you see people will run away”

The builders 2024 event which was marked across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT recorded huge success across boards with Imo Chapter rounding up with a Thanksgiving service at Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri, Imo state on Sunday, March 17, 2024 after Secondary school tours in the state to educate students on the way to go around the profession.

Went To School Alive, Came Back In Bags, Butchered By The School Security Chief

We have always said that all that glitters isn’t gold, and this story proves us right. He was the chief security officer at a school in Awada, Anambra State. Exceptional Kiddies Nursery and Primary School to be precise. He was also a member of Anambra security personnel, but he was a serial Killer. He kills silently, butchers his victim and has men in Sienna come to take them in black bags in disguise of fish and crayfish.

Oh, I forgot to say he also sells dry fish and crayfish in bags. A nice and proper camouflage that allows him to run his human business undetected. Who will suspect an ever-cheerful security man who was so trusted that he was allowed to live inside the school compound? Who would have known?

Some two years ago, his oga, Mr Harrison AKA Ogbanta went missing with no traces of him till this day. All efforts to find him proved abortive. It was this last Christmas of 2023 that the family decided to give him a proper burial, even without his corpse. They believe that after two years the young vibrant proprietor of a secondary and primary school would have come home if he was still alive. So they gave him a befitting burial. He went missing around the COVID-19 era.

Not every blood you kill will let you rest. It doesn’t matter if it is a blood of a kid. Luck ran out of this jovial serial killer when on Saturday 18th of February 2024, he abducted a little child. The parents of the kids did not make it on time as usual forcing the kids to hang on the school for quite a long time. This young man lured the younger one into one of the rooms he normally used to butcher his victims and had him cut into pieces. I know some will be asking why his victims don’t make noise that will attract neighbours, since houses in Awada Obosi were built very close to each other. Information says he has some drugs he uses on his victim. This drug makes his victims so weak and incapable of making noise. He butcher his victim with ease.

A search party was dispersed. The brother of the slain little boy told the search party that his brother entered a particular room used by the security Chief. The human butcher refused to open the door, not until police were called and the door forcefully opened. But it was already too late. The boy has been cut into pieces awaiting dispatch the following morning in disguise of crayfish and dry fish. His usual way.

Unfortunately, killers are recruited as security and vigilante men. Who would have believed that a state security man turned school security chief would be butchering humans right inside the school compound for a very long time undetected?

Do you think he knows what happened to his oga? Have you heard this story?

If yes, help us to develop the story more.

What is the name of this wicked security chief?

The kïller is still in police custody. We hope he won’t buy his way out of this case.

NB: The pictures above is the man behind the knife.

She Ran Away From FUTO Because Her Boyfriend Broke Up With Her

This is the true story of a young girl named Nneka who attended the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Owerri. She was deeply in love with her boyfriend, Gerald, who was also a student at the same campus.

However, one day, Gerald abruptly ended their relationship, leaving Nneka heartbroken and devastated. The young ambitious Gerald had amassed some sudden wealth through certain internet schemes, and so he found Nneka unbefitting for his new status. Meanwhile, they had bonded as one in the preceding years. They had gone about almost all school activities together. It was a loss too great for Nneka to bear. And she was also an orphan.

Unable to handle the recurring trauma of seeing Gerald every day on campus frolicking around girls of different sizes and colours, the poor girl decided to escape.

She packed her little earthly belongings in the middle of the night, leaving behind only a note for her roommate explaining her sudden departure. With tears in her eyes, she boarded a bus to Onitsha, and from there to a place in Agbor, Delta State. Looking at one thing, yet thinking about another, Nneka was in a hurry to flee, to leave behind her pains. And where she ran to was unknown to her.

As she wandered the unfamiliar streets of Agbor, Nneka stumbled upon a bookshop owned by an elderly woman named Mrs. Iyaye. Sensing Nneka’s distress, Mrs. Iyaye offered her a job at the bookshop and a place to stay within the compound, just behind the shop.

In the weeks that followed, Nneka found solace in the quiet charm of the shop and the wisdom of Mrs. Iyaye. She immersed herself in the world of literature, finding comfort in the stories of love, life, loss, and resilience.

Some months later at the university, Gerald started regretting his decision to break up with Nneka. He had gone totally broke, even got arrested by the police, and all he had amassed confiscated. He searched high and low for Nneka, realizing the depth of his love only after she was gone and his pockets empty, too.

Time passed, and Nneka began to heal from the pain of her breakup. She found joy in her new life and rediscovered her passion for writing. Little did she know Gerald had found out where she was, and was on his way to Agbor, determined to win her back.

One day, as Nneka was arranging books in the store, she looked up to see Gerald standing in front of her, holding a bouquet of flowers and an apologetic expression on his face. Overwhelmed with emotion, Nneka listened as Gerald poured his heart out, expressing his regret and begging for a second chance.

Torn between her past and her present, Nneka realized that she had grown stronger during her time away. She thanked Gerald for his apology but gently explained that she had moved on and found happiness in her new life.

With a bitter-sweet smile, Nneka watched as Gerald walked away, knowing that she had finally found peace and closure.

Before the end of that year, Nneka was flown abroad for her studies by Mrs. Iyaye’s first son, Anthony, who later married her on her graduation as a medical doctor in the United States of America.

Ugochi Linda Ezemkagha in Police Net for Alleged Escapades with Prophet John Ugbede

The last has not been heard about the developing story of the escapades of Ugochi Linda Ezemkagha (Nee Philips) daughter of late zeb phillips nwosu, who is now subject of a criminal investigation, after she landed in Police net, on 20th December 2023.

Sources at the Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Abuja, have it that the lady, Ugochi Linda Ezemkagha, has been on Police watch, for a while, in Abuja, where she resides, but was eventually arrested in Kogi State, where she relocated with her prophet turned lover, John Ugbede, an Igala man.

Before they relocated to Kogi, while trying to evade the Police, Ugochi Linda Ezemkagha and her Lover -Prophet, who she previously claimed was married, had been spotted together in relaxation centres, and picnic arenas, in compromising positions.

The Prophet was also the only man by her side holding her in manners sexually revealing for the status of a married woman, while cut his birthday cake, and she compelled her tender kids, from her marriage to recognise Prophet John Ugbede as their Dad.

Following the investigation, it was discovered that Linda was invited over from Port Harcourt in 2018, by her mother, acting under the directive of the fake prophet, John Ugbede of Salvation Fire Ministry (SFM).

Sources say the mother, Martha Philips, of ogwo family, umuayalu, Egbu, Owerri North, LGA, Imo State, a Civil Defence Officer, previously married to late Zeb Philips Nwosu of Osuama, Isiala Mbano, Imo State, is under the spiritual influence of the prophet, leading to inviting her daughter over, with her two kids, from Port Harcourt.

This probably explains why they sold of properties belonging to Linda’s husband, and handed the money to Prophet John Ugbede.

The move from Port Harcourt, the report says, was perfected with the active connivance and support of her elder sister, Mrs Ijeoma Nwaoha. Ugochi and Ijeoma eventually cleared off the belongings of her spouse, in Port Harcourt and moved to Abuja since 2018, where prophet John Ugbede soon moved in with her, and her mum, under the same roof, despite the presence of her two kids, who were barely out of primary school.

Among the complaints that led to the arrest of Linda Phillips, as she is known by her English Department course mates, at the Imo State University, Owerri, between 2006 and 2009 when she dropped out from the University, was that she sold her spouse’s house in Festac, Lagos, to finance Prophet John Ugbede’s church, while her husband was abroad.

The police is working hard to unravel the case and more details will be made available, by our sources, as it comes.

Thank You Ndi Imo, My Governorship Ambition Is Not Greater Than Our Peace -Ejiogu

♦FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Owerri 17.11.2023.

Nde APGA, nde Owerri, nde Imo, nde Igbo nwem!

It is with utmost humility and appreciation I greet you all.

This is my first-time trudging into the murky waters of politics as a direct participant. Be it as it may, I glorify God’s name and his mercies endures forever. Many never gave me a chance to show my capacity; others fought me, and many castigated and vilified me, but in all we came, we saw and all of us conquered together.

Much as the governorship election has come and gone, my relationship with all remains saintly, trusting and more rewarding. The outcome is surely unsatisfactory for me and my supporters, and much worse is the conduct of the election itself which leaves us more worried for the future of democracy and leadership in Nigeria.

Along with other candidates and political parties that participated in the Imo governorship election, we have expressed our displeasure over the level of irregularities, incompetence and violence that marred this election, and the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the electoral umpire. While we admit that there will always be one winner in any election, we believe that both the winner and loser should exit the battlefield knowing that they had a fair chance. This is not the case for us, and we are surely not happy.

However, my ambition to become the next governor of Imo state is not greater than my desire to see Imo prosper in peace, love and unity, most especially for the wind of development to start blowing across all our communities.

Please let us use this period of solemn reflection to love ourselves the more and believe in our quest to reclaim our lost glory on a sincere ground of love, trust, brotherhood, and hope for a better tomorrow.

The audacity to dream is the masterstroke for a new Imo. All the long nights, emotional troubles, financial burdens, investments, sacrifices, family pressures, friendship burdens and near distrust, which is concomitant with politics has made us wiser, and better aware that indeed, for a better Imo, we must stick together.

In one voice we must keep pushing for the fundamental result which is to rebuild Imo. Do not be discouraged by the ugly past and skewed present but remain resolute that the great future of our collective dream is possible. Therefore, all hands must be on deck from now to reclaim the people’s mandate and move on for a better Imo.

I wish to say a big thank you to the great leader of our party, Governor Charles Soludo, our National Chairman, Mr. Sly Ezeokenwa, members of the National Working Committee, the entire Imo state APGA family and all our supporters. I remain your willing solider, under God’s army.

TONY C EJIOGU APGA candidate 2023 Imo Governorship Election

Ejiogu’s ‘Rebuild Imo’ Rallying Cry: Will the People Listen?

By Barr. Canice Manukaji (Obilimba)

On a regular day, no one will mistake Tony Ejiogu for a Nigerian politician. With an impressive mien and the intellect of a professor, Sir Ejiogu, who had excelled in boardrooms in the United States and Nigeria, took many by surprise when he took the plunge and threw his heart into the political ring as the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the November 11 governorship election in Imo State.

His fiery and inspiring speech during his campaign flag-off in Owerri on August 31, 2023, cleared all doubts that he feels passionate about turning the fortunes of Imo State around and that he indeed appears better prepared than any of the other contenders in the race.

His message was simple – “It was time to rebuild Imo”. Hurt by the rampant insecurity and the consequent needless loss of lives and destruction that had become commonplace in his dear Imo land over the past four years, Ejiogu rallied the people to ditch their differences and join hands with him to rebuild Imo and make it live-able again.

“Despite our past triumphs and legacies, this is a time of great tension between good and evil, progress and retrogression, and a time to choose whether to continue on the path of destruction or begin the process of rebuilding our dear Imo,” Ejiogu said in his soul-searing message to thousands of supporters at the campaign flag-off that sweltering Thursday afternoon in Owerri.

“My first charge in the rebuilding agenda is to make our communities livable again,” he added.

Between August 31 when he launched this message and now, Ejiogu has taken the path less travelled by Nigerian politicians. Along with a dedicated team of supporters and party men, Ejiogu traversed the nooks and crannies of Imo State, including places like Obube Ancient Kingdom, which no politician has ever visited despite the community’s historic significance. The people of Obube Kingdom believe his visit was a sign of the light to come after decades of neglect.

Beyond Obube, and from Owerri to Okigwe and Orlu Zones, Ejiogu has so far taken his message of Rebuilding Imo to all the strategic communities in the state and interfaced directly with community leaders and thousands of voters.

In Isiala-Mbano, the traditional ruler of the Amato Amaraku community, Eze Joseph Mbamara, who could not hide his excitement extolled Sir Ejiogu’s character and leadership virtues, even as he declared that Sir Ejiogu’s candidacy heralds immense hope for a better Imo.

When the campaign train touched Ngwuoma-Obube, Agballa and Uluakwo communities in Owerri North LGA, the people went agog as Ejiogu was the first politician of Imo Extraction to visit and pay homage to Obube Ancient Kingdom. In this historic community, Imo State’s creation was first announced in 1976 and Owerri was declared as the capital.”

Sir Tony Ejiogu is an exceptional leader, we are praying for him to succeed because he means well for our people, we need a progressive-minded leader, who would create an enabling environment for business to thrive and for the state to prosper,” said one of the leaders of Obube, Chief Samuel Akujiuobi who saw Ejiogu’s visit as a bellwether political event.

Perhaps, a major highlight of Sir Ejiogu’s campaign was the endorsement by the leader of APGA, and the governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, who believes Ejiogu’s candidacy to be a watershed in the party’s history.

During Ejiogu’s visit to the APGA leader, Soludo assured of a successful outing because of Ejiogu’s outstanding personality and acceptance by the people.According to Soludo, one of the reasons he believes Ejiogu is the right man for Imo at the moment is because of the quality of his ideas.

In his words, “Mr. Ejiogu’s manifesto speaks volumes of a man who understands the problems facing Imo people at a fundamental level and is poised to provide solutions and deliver democratic dividends in an unprecedented manner.”

At Ngor-Okpalla, Ohaji, Ezinihitte Mbaise and at several markets and churches across the breadth of Imo State, Ejiogu has taken the message of rebuilding Imo to the people.

Having taken his message of rebuilding Imo to millions of Imolites across the 21 local governments that he toured during his campaign, Ejiogu appears to have said all there is to say, and done all there is to do. One thing is certain, he seems an obvious choice as he appears ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work, and he has demonstrated it beyond the stump speeches.

But will the people listen? Are the people of Imo ready to rebuild their land?

Tony Ejiogu Pledges To Liberate Imo From Bad Leadership

You Deserve More Than You’re Getting, Ejiogu Tells Ohaji Egbema Community

Imo Election: APGA Candidate Ejiogu Storms Ohaji, Promises Wealth Creation

Only a leader with proven integrity can liberate Imo people, says Tony Ejiogu

Imo state All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate, Sir Tony Ejiogu has reiterated his determination to create wealth for the teaming unemployed youths in the state.

Ejiogu dropped the cheering news to the youths of Ohaji Egbema recently when he visited the area. He regretted that despite their huge economic contributions to the growth and development of the state, the community still lacks basic essential things of life.

“How can Ohaji Egbema that housed most of the oil walls and companies in the state still lack basic essential things of life?” he questioned.

Based on his wealth of experience as an administrator and entrepreneur, Ejiogu argued that the huge revenue from Ohaji Egbema is big enough to sustain and make Imo to forget about the usual monthly federal government allocation.

He explained that if a credible person with character and integrity is elected governor for the state, then the state would witness the much desired change to the delight of the masses.

Ejiogu, who noted that he didn’t visit Ohaji Egbema for campaign, stressed that his visit was to educate them on the huge economic contributions they have been making to the state which they have not been benefiting from.

The APGA governorship candidate further noted that all the intervention agencies of the government meant to develop their area like NDDC and ISOPADEC are not doing much because of the bad leadership in the state.

“Your son is the Managing Director of ISOPADEC, but he can’t do anything because he is not in full control of the allocation due to the agency,” he said.

He then gave the assurance that if elected as governor that all the agencies meant to develop their area, including the local government, will be given a free hand to operate without any interference unlike what obtains presently.

The Emekuku-born administrator who pledged to liberate Ohaji Egbema and the entire Imo State from the hands of bad leaders, maintained that only a focused administrator with proven integrity like himself can liberate Imo people.

He noted that other neighbouring states like Abia, Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi States have liberated themselves and charged Imo electorate to join in the new wave of change to liberate themselves at the governorship election this Saturday by casting their votes to him.

While insisting that he remains the best among others, Ejiogu enjoined the people of Ohaji Egbema to give him full support that will usher him to victory at the polls.

Imo Election: Hold Me Accountable, Tony Ejiogu Tells Ngor-Okpala People

Imo Election: Hold Me Accountable, Tony Ejiogu Tells Ngor-Okpala Peopl

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the November 11th election in Imo State, Sir Tony Ejiogu, has assured the people of Ngor-Okpala of quality health care system and government presence in the area.

The APGA candidate, while declaring his intentions to the crowd of supporters who welcomed him, decried the deplorable state of roads as well as government infrastructure especially the comatose primary health centres in the area. He gave the assurance that he would correct this abnormality if elected, as even development will touch every sphere of the state.

“I did my secondary school education in Ngor-Okpala, but not much has changed since then. Hold me accountable to my words and hold me responsible to develop Ngor-Okpala. I assure you of a world class medical centre and improved government presence,” he promised.

Sir Tony Ejiogu further stated that he would encourage farmers in the area and young entrepreneurs with the necessarily tools and amenities to boost production and encourage growth and rapid development of Ngor-Okpalla whose people are known for their industrious nature.

“I am promising you all that we will accord Ngor-Okpala its rightful place. We will empower farmers as well create the enabling environment for your businesses to thrive,” he said.

Earlier, the Imo guber candidate visited the palace of Eze Emma Eke of Umukabia Ngor-Okpalla LGA in Imo State, where he and his campaign team were prayed for and blessed in their quest to win the November 11 governorship election and reposition the state for enviable development.

Is This Still Democracy? Tony Ejiogu Condemns Attack On NLC President Joe Ajaero

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the 2023 Imo state governorship election, Sir Tony Ejiogu, has expressed sadness over the brutal attack on the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Mr Joe Ajaero in Owerri, the state capital.

The NLC president was in Owerri on Wednesday, November 1, to mobilize Imo workers for a protest rally in the state over an alleged violation and abuse of rights and privileges of workers by the state government, but the planned peaceful protest turned violent with allegations that thugs emerged and descended on the protesters and labour leaders.

In a statement on Thursday November 2, Sir Tony Ejiogu described as a huge embarrassment to the highly cultured and peace-loving people of Imo state, the news that a man of Joe Ajaero’s status would be so treated in his own state where he should be lovingly welcomed.

“Regardless of the sentiment that the perpetrators of this act might express, there is no moral or legal justification for violence against a fellow citizen. There should be no place for violence in the Imo state that we all want to live in and prosper“

“How did we get here as Imolites? When did we become a state where leaders and elders are being disrespected, beaten up and disgraced while our children are watching? When did we become a state that has no respect for the leadership of the working population of our nation?”, he said.

The NLC stated that Mr Ajaero was arrested, “beaten up and blindfolded and taken to an unknown destination where more brutalisation took place, sometimes with bottles”. Images of a badly battered Ajaero later emerged on the internet to the shock of many Nigerians.

Joe Ajaero NLC President

While there are divergent reports about the circumstances around the attack on Comrade Joe Ajaero and how he was whisked away by men of the Police, Sir Ejiogu wants the police to ensure that the perpetrators of this “shameful act” are brought to book.

“While the police have been providing the public with their details of this sad event, please permit me to state that an issue like this should not end on the pages of newspapers and social media, because our state and the police leadership will be on the wrong side of history”

“This is not just a crime against Ajaero’s person, but against Nigerian workers, our state and humanity. I appeal to the Imo State Police Command to ensure thorough investigation of this shameful act, so that its perpetrators are exposed, charged and made to face the consequences of their crime”

The APGA candidate then appealed to the people of the state not to lose hope in the future of Imo state.

“Do not be discouraged by these events. Rather, let them inspire you to troop out on November 11 and use your votes to choose a new future for our state. Vote for a new leadership that has genuine respect for human lives and places the security of the state as its top priority”

Imo Guber: YPP Candidate Faults, Protests Discriminatory JDPC Town Hall Meeting At Assumpta Cathedral

YPP FLAG BEARER STAGE A WALKOUT FROM JDPC TOWN HALL MEETING WITH IMO GUBER CANDIDATES AT MARIA ASSUMPTA CATHEDRAL HALL

YPP Flag Bearer In The November Election Condemns The Prejudicial And Unjustifiable Discrimination And Exclusive Of Most Candidates From Presenting Their Manifestos

We want to unequivocally express our utmost dissatisfaction with the discriminatory and prejudicial manner in which the supposed Town hall meeting for Imo Governorship candidates was conducted by the Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission (JDPC) of Owerri Catholic Ecclesiastical Province, at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri.

While we commend the faith-based organization for conceptualizing the idea of the gubernatorial debate which would have given the governorship candidates the opportunity to address Imo people on their plans, mission and vision for them and the State, we condemn in very strong terms its decision to have just 6 out of the 17 political parties fielding governorship candidates to present their Manifestos at the Tow hall meeting.

The embarrassing sinister arrangement that ensured the deliberate exclusion of most governorship candidates from the debate is prejudicial, unjust and unjustifiable. It obviously runs foul of the good governance advocacy which the faith-based organization stands for and grossly undermines its vision towards achieving an Imo society where social justice, equity and human dignity thrives for the common Good.

As a matter of fact, denying the standard-bearer of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), High Chief Dr. Kemdi Chino Opara, who at present and by all standards is the most credible and eminently qualified gubernatorial candidate in Imo state the opportunity to showcase his Imo Liberation roadmap at the Town Hall meeting is a great disservice to Ndi Imo and suggests a failed attempt to weaken the prospect of our candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.

It was on this ground that our governorship candidate, his running mate and some members of the YPP Campaign Council who arrived the venue of the Town Hall meeting in high spirit decided to stage a walkout in protest of the needless discrimination and exclusion of most governorship candidates from the event.

Via a press release signed by Rt. Hon Michael Anyanwu
Deputy Director, Media and Communications and obtained by Gisthub24 continue to read; On a sad note, it is unfortunate that only 20 supporters of the candidates were accredited to enter the hall without the public in attendance. So what manner of a Town Hall meeting is that? Are the manifestos presentation only meant for the party supporters?

It is highly regrettable and saddening to see that a faith-based organization with one of the best platforms to help Ndi Imo make informed decision in the forthcoming election by giving them the opportunity of knowing the strength, weakness and the overall fitness of those seeking to govern the State decided to be nepotic instead of giving equal opportunity to all the governorship candidates.

Imo Guber: Ejiogu Canvasses Violence-Free Polls, Joins Others to Sign Peace Accord

In a bid to guarantee peaceful conduct of the November 11th Governorship election in Imo State, Sir Tony Ejiogu, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has sued for peace among Imolites, political parties and stakeholders in the State.

Ejiogu made the call after signing a peace accord alongside other candidates at the Assumpta Cathedral in Owerri on Sunday, October 22.

Speaking to newsmen after signing the accord, the APGA candidate said it was important that all political actors and other stakeholders in the state commit to peaceful electoral conduct as the democratic process cannot be deemed credible if it is held in an atmosphere that is devoid of peace.

Ejiogu also used the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to delivering a purposeful, people-centred, servant leadership aimed at delivering social justice, good governance, security, and job employment for the overall development of the state.

“I am truly committed to rebuilding Imo state with your support. In recent times our state has underperformed, and my core mandate is to bring about social-economic change that will touch all the facets of our dear state”.
Ejiogu further maintained that his 5-point agenda for the state has been painstakingly designed to address all the challenges currently experienced while noting that security, local government autonomy, education, employment and welfare of civil servants and pensioners stand tall in his agenda.

According to him, “Our government shall be a reflection of our lifestyle of modesty and accessibility, voting for me under APGA will deliver the Imo state we desire and deserve.”

Universities Should Partner With Media Outfits To Give Students Practical Experience – Chinedu Hardy Nwadike

Award winning media practitioner, Chinedu Hardy Nwadike has said that beyond building a strong brand, he also wants to build people.

Chinedu who is the founder of OtownGist Media and Entertainment said that the concept of ‘people’ is often put behind money in the media sector and he will help change that.

He said that with the purpose not set earlier, a lot of people are in the media just for the money and not for the offerings of the sector.

“A decade in the sector has taught me a lot and I have seen people think the industry is their birthright, even when. they have not done enough to help it”

“For me the industry has over a hundred doors wide open for people to come in”

“People who have good engagement on social media are now media experts and they pride themselves everywhere with the title without a single training and this is same with some graduates of Departments like Mass Communication, because they have no practical knowledge of the course they studied for four years”, he said.

Chinedu Hardy Nwadike said that the media in places like Imo State should be improved and people should be able to flow with the dynamism in the sector.

He said that Universities should be able to identify media outfits in different genres to partner with so that students can have real experience while still in school.

“The goal should not be to graduate more than 200 persons every year, the goal should be to send out professionals who will improve the media sector upon graduation”

“Universities should create work experience beyond the industrial training where students can work in various departments of the media in partner outfits, this is how we can build great institution in the sector”

“Media entrepreneurs should think beyond building for money. We all should start building strong brands that will shape the future by grooming the next generation of media professionals”, he said.

Chinedu Hardy Nwadike who is also an author is the president of Imo State Bloggers Association (ISBA) and has set his sight on grooming more than ten persons every year in the media sector.

IMO GUBER: Soludo Gives 6 Reasons Why Ejiogu Will Win Imo Election

Professor Charles Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, and the national leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has given reasons for tipping Sir Tony Ejiogu, the party’s Governorship candidate to win the upcoming governorship election in Imo State.

Soludo, who stated the reasons while playing host to Ejiogu at Anambra Government House in Awka recently, also reiterated his firm belief that APGA is poised to reclaim Imo State.

Below are the 6 reasons drawn from highlights of the Governor’s speech during the visit:

1. Sir Ejiogu’s Outstanding Manifesto

According to Soludo, one of the reasons he believes Ejiogu is the right man for Imo at the moment is because of the quality of his manifesto.

He said, “Mr Ejiogu’s manifesto speaks volumes of a man who is poised to bring about democratic dividends.”

While maintaining that in the past, political parties in the country were identified by their manifesto and unique people-oriented programs, he extolled Sir Ejiogu for taking the bull by the horns by proffering solutions that will address the socioeconomic woes of Imo State through his manifesto which will improve on the standard of living of Imo people when actualised.

2. Sir Ejiogu’s Credibility and Competency

Still alluding to Ejiogu’s manifesto, where he promised to be a servant-leader, Prof. Soludo said APGA has shown and demonstrated its commitment to the development and progress of Imo State by presenting a very credible and competent candidate in the person of Sir Tony Ejiogu.

“Only candidates with credibility and interest of the people will work for them as a servant leader,” he said.

3. Ejiogu As A Model For Future Candidates

Prof. Charles Soludo also said he believes Ejiogu to be the best fit to lead Imo in this tough moment because “for the desired change we need, we want a credible candidate that understands what APGA as a progressive party stands for. Going forward, I believe a new wave has started through Imo APGA”.

4. Ejiogu’s Empathy and Passion to Serve

Soludo told Ejiogu during the visit, “For you to be the flag bearer of our party, that means that you have empathy, passion and genuine interest in improving the life of the people,” while maintaining that APGA is the only party that practices true federalism with the framework and structure to move the states and the nation forward.

5. Ejiogu Is The People’s Choice

ImoElection: Local Government System Will Thrive Under My Leadership – Ejiogu

Sir Tony Ejiogu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the November 11 gubernatorial election in Imo State, has reiterated his commitment to devolution of powers if elected, even as he promised to conduct free, fair and credible local government elections upon assumption of office.

The APGA governorship candidate gave this assurance recently when he visited Aboh and Ezinihitte Mbaise local government area as part of his campaign tour.

While noting that successive governors in the state have failed to conduct elections at the local level, thereby eroding democratic governance, Sir Ejiogu promised to reverse the trend.

“Frequently overlooked, Nigeria’s local governments are disproportionately important; if they functioned well, they would be best positioned to meet people’s basic needs and to build their resilience to cope with everyday challenges,” he said.

He further maintained that “across the grassroots, health services are inadequate, there is limited potable water, primary education is in a comatose, teachers are either not available or underpaid and there is a general absence of public infrastructure” which should not be so.

Local government autonomy has been one of the campaign promises of the APGA candidate, as stated in his speech during his campaign flag-off in August 2023. He said that his administration would embark on various government reforms, which are key to achieving his five-point agenda.

“First, we will plan and conduct free, fair, and credible local government elections, then we can improve the government’s transparency and accountability, and drive social justice and equality,” he had promised, adding that this would help to fill significant socio-economic gaps.

Ejiogu added that due to years of inefficiency, and general lack of inactivity, Imo people have lost hope that the third tier of government can provide any sort of democratic dividends to them but if voted as governor, this will change.

Speaking on his plans for security, he gave the assurance that Imo would bounce back again, as his administration would create an enabling environment that is safe and secure for business and investment to flourish while workers and pensioners get paid as and when due.

Commending Ejiogu’s people-oriented policy agenda, the Imo APGA woman leader, Mrs. Nkasi Tessy Obi urged women in the state to troop to their various communities and embark on aggressive grassroots mobilisation to secure victory for the party.

“We are happy the way you all welcomed us, we are promising that Sir Tony Ejiogu must not take your show of love for granted, make sure you all consolidate on this momentum by telling everybody to vote for APGA come, November 11th”

EGBU DECLARATION: Ejiogu Reiterates Readiness To Make Owerri Zone Proud

Sir Tony Ejiogu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the upcoming November 11 Governorship election in Imo State has said that he was confident of victory at the polls, thereby fulfilling the yearnings of Owerri Zone to produce the next Governor of Imo State in line with the Egbu Declaration and charter of equity which Imo’s founding fathers promulgated.

Ejiogu made the remarks during his campaign tour to the Isiala-Mbano Local Government Area of the State on Thursday, October 12.

He noted that the state’s founding fathers, after the return of democracy, in 1998 propounded the Imo Charter of Equity to encourage peace, equity and fairness, but decried that over the years the brotherly accord has not been honoured.

He maintained that following the recent “Egbu Declaration” against the injustice the zone has witnessed, it is time for all lovers of democracy, regardless of party affiliation to join hands with APGA, as he represents the only credible, competent candidate to reposition the state.

“When we went to Egbu declaration, we made it known that it is the turn of Owerri Zone to produce the next Imo Governor. Orlu has ruled for 20 years. Okigwe Zone four years and Owerri Zone only seven months. For equity and fairness, it is the time of Owerri Zone to produce the next Governor,” he said.

While appreciating the love and support he enjoyed from the people of Isiala-Mbano, Mr Ejiogu promised that he would run an inclusive administration that would favour all the zones of the state and also encourage equal development.

He declared: “We have the genuine desire to bring about good governance for the betterment of Imo people. Power is now in your hands to change the trajectory of your future and indeed the future of our dear state. Vote for APGA.”

The traditional ruler of the Amato Amaraku community, Eze Joseph Mbamara, who extolled Sir Tony Ejiogu for the visit, also prayed that God who has seen his heart bless his intentions. “God lead you, if it is the will of God for you to be our Governor let it come to pass.”

Several members of the community expressed excitement about the APGA candidate’s visit, promising to vote for him during the election. One of the community leaders in the local government, Chief Tony Ogwuike, assured the APGA candidate of his community’s promise.

“When I look at you, I see a man with passion and a real desire to bring about the Imo of our dreams. You have not soiled your hands with dirt, we are wholeheartedly behind you, our prayer is that you succeed,” he said.

The Imo State Party Chairman of APGA, Chief John Iwuala; Deputy Gov’ship Candidate, Chief Chris Uche Ejike; the Tony Ejiogu Campaign Director General, Engr Paul Aballa and other party bigwigs were also part of the tour.

Shun Pecuniary Gains And Stand In Solidarity With Owerri Zone’s Demand To Produce The Governor In Accordance With The 1999 Charter Of Equity

The Obazu-Mbieri born philanthropist and front-runner Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party Chief Dr. Kemdi Opara has urged the other two zones in the State to support the charter of equity of 1999 produced by the leaders of the three zones.

He made this appeal at the 5th anniversary celebration of the Egbu Declaration held at the All Saints Cathedral, Egbu in Owerri North LGA where he firmly opposed the continued marginalization and suppression of Owerri zone, a zone otherwise known as Imo East Senatorial district with predominantly well-read and very intelligent but yet to be allowed to produce the Governor of Imo State for even a term.

Noting that it is repugnant to fairness, equity and Justice for any particular zone to want to keep producing governor to the detriment of others in the face of an existing Charter of Equity to rotate power amongst the three Zones. He urged Ndi Owerri zone and Imo people in general to shun pecuniary gains of the moment and objectively thoroughly assess him as the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) as well as his brother candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, Action Democratic Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance who are from the Owerri zone and were present at the Egbu Declaration anniversary ceremony to enable them make informed decision to vote for the best with the leadership capacity, competence, integrity and content of character to bring about effective and productive governance for Imo State.

Maintaining his stand in solidarity with Owerri zone’s demand to produce the next Governor of the State in accordance with the 1991 Charter of Equity in Imo State and commending the Organizers of the event for proving to the World that the zone still has great and respected leaders of thought that mean well for the zone and its people. The YPP standard-bearer is optimistic that the program strongly signifies the beginning of the journey of Owerri zone to Douglas House come January 15, 2024.

The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo state, Sir Tony Ejiogu has condemned the killing of eight security personnel at Oriagu, Ehime-Mbano LGA of the state.

In an emotional statement on Thursday, September 21, 2023, Ejiogu expressed sadness over the Tuesday morning event.

Security operatives of the joint task force were said to have been on patrol along Aba-branch Oriagu in Ehime-Mbano road on Tuesday morning when some unknown gunmen ambushed them and killed eight security agents.

“It breaks my heart to know that eight innocent families with children have been made to lose their breadwinners in the course of looking for their daily bread.

“For how long are we going to continue shedding innocent blood? Whatever our differences are, are they truly worth the lives of our fellow brothers and sisters?

“When the system continues to fail in protecting our lives and property, isn’t this the more reason to unite with and support our security agencies to help them protect us better?

“A man doesn’t set his house ablaze to prove a point.

The men killed are human beings with families, and the devastating effect this gruesome act would have on innocent families left behind is better imagined than experienced,” he said.

While emphasizing the need to prevent the security situation in Imo state from further degenerating, he appealed to security agencies not to retaliate. He also appealed to citizens who may be aggrieved for many reasons to always seek the non-violent path.

“While I call on my people to please embrace dialogue and negotiations as the best way to resolve differences, I am also in the same vein appealing to soldiers and other security agents to please resist the urge for revenge and desist from any act of reprisal attack”

“This will only affect innocent citizens and would further incite a vicious circle of hate and violence. Two wrongs don’t make a right,” he said.

23-Year-Old House-Help Caught While Trying To Escape With Her Madam’s Entire Jewelry Collection

Happiness had told her madam who just employed her that she wanted to leave and demanded for her one month salary. Madam discussed with Oga and they agreed, though they were pained as their children were already endeared to Happiness. She was said to be childish and possesses this child-like demeanor that made their kids like her. She could also read and write and was seen a few times, teaching their kids.

On the day she was to leave, they didn’t search her bags until she had left the compound, so they called her back.

She wasn’t expecting this. So, she made to go back into her quarters. She was stopped and was asked to bring out her things. Madam found at the bottom of her bag half of her entire jewellery collection including her wedding and engagement rings. This young lady packed everything! Apparently, she could not tell which were pure gold or not.

Not only was the innocent looking Happiness a th!ef, she reportedly was an agent hired by an evil gang, and unleashed on unsuspecting employers. A piece of black cloth tied into a knot containing madam’s hair and a clay-like substance was found in her bag which she confessed was for human sacrifice!

According to her, she met these people around April 2023. They told her they would make her rich. They took her into this room and performed some magic and monies appeared in different currencies. They asked her to take the monies. But each time she tried to touch the money it disappeared. They now told her that they would give her charms and send her on this assignment and her job is to bring them valuables from her employers, and when she does, she would be able to take the monies. They then gave her the juju and told her that any home she enters, she should pick sand from outside of the house and sprinkle on the juju and speak to the juju that the people in the house would suffer some degree of amnesia. They also told her that she must make sure no other person sees the juju otherwise it would lose it powers and she could become m@d.

He then appealed to Ndi Imo to accord him the opportunity to serve them and sign with them a new contract that will pave the way for economic emancipation. He promised not to betray their trust when elected.

Money And Muscle Politics In Imo State—Why A Paradigm Shift Is Long Overdue

For what it’s worth, political leadership, in its purest form, is about attaining political power and leveraging on it to influence decisions that bring about human development, and improvement in the quality of lives of those under our jurisdiction. But ironically, our political landscape has repeatedly been plagued by transactional politics where politicians try to recoup as much as possible from public coffers, while the society that was entrusted to them for safekeeping is allowed to deteriorate.

But what is most regrettable and worrisome is that we have created a society where such a menace is allowed to thrive. We have bastardized our political culture to the point that it has become attractive to political merchants whose only aim is to prey on our collective resources. People who lack leadership capacity and moral decency are now dominating our political space due to the fact that we have created a society where no one pays attention to ideologies; a society where there are no issue-based dimensions along which political discussions are based; a society where political parties are structured without any vision. Thus, there are no qualification requirements for prospective candidates. And when indicators of credibility are not used as a litmus test for candidates, there is now room for opportunists to ruthlessly take advantage. It’s so sad that relevant experience, antecedents and credentials are no longer a determinant for both political parties and the electorates to decide who is most suitable to run for a political office. Rather, it is now about who can outwit the other candidates through vote buying and compromising the electoral process. This new culture and trend have produced dealers at the expense of leaders—dealers who are mostly characterized by greed, ineptitude, and insensitivity.

Owing to this sociopolitical situation we have created, people with questionable character are now on the political spotlight. And their primary aim is simply to obtain the absolute immunity associated with power, and also to enjoy the ample financial reward and unrestricted privileges associated with holding such political positions. No wonder poor leadership has persisted. Political vulgarity has become our reality. Hypocrisy has taken over our political atmosphere. Corruption is now a celebrated culture that has eaten so deep into the fabrics of our core values.

Our state now creates leaders who are demigods rather than public servants, and the desperation to grab power by all means has heightened. These political positions have been made a safe haven for the demigods to unleash their insatiable greed, unquantifiable looting, negligence towards the plight of the masses, intimidation, falsehood, and abuse of power.

This mediocre and retrogressive politics has persisted because we have allowed it to thrive by not making enough inquiries to ascertain who an aspirant really is and what he has to offer; by giving room to mediocrity instead of meritocracy; by looking for a candidate that would buy our acceptance with money instead of the one that has a long-term plan for effective leadership. Sadly, we are now majoring in the minor and minoring in the major.

And it might get even worse if we fail to wake up from our slumber. We as imolites must take drastic measures to ensure that our retrogressive society becomes progressive. We must rebuild our value system to accommodate only leaders with proven integrity and antecedents.

But are we eady to do the needful in order to halt this rot? I ask this because we are in yet another election season in Imo State, and the nontransparent process that produces candidates, coupled with heavy financial inducements, has persisted. In fact, it took a more dangerous twist. How can candidates whom the processes that produced them as flag bearers remain shrouded in controversies promise us a transparent government? Are we seeing people who are willing to serve or people who want to do a show of money and muscle in a bid to see who outwits the other in getting the keys to our state Treasury?

But in all, the situation is not entirely hopeless. For while most Frontline political parties were locked in chaos, one major political party—the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) which has remained the pride of the east—stood out amongst equals. They quietly conducted one of the most transparent, peaceful and rancor- free primaries ever seen in Imo State, and produced a dynamic and vibrant technocrat in the person of Mr Anthony Ejiogu. And while some other candidates are still busy with litigations arising from their shady primaries, the young visionary is steadily penetrating the nooks and crannies of the state with his personality and ideologies. I am not suggesting to Imo people whom to follow, but I am urging them to pay more attention to what Tony Ejiogu and APGA are bringing to the table, especially with their campaign flag off imminent, and they won’t find it difficult to want to key in.

The future of our dear state, that of our children and the generation yet unborn, is at stake, and if we don’t pay attention to tiny details, we will forever be condemned by guilt for the role we played in abusing our own society.

We might have lost a huge chunk of yesterday and today, but we can’t afford to lose tomorrow. Politics shouldn’t be a platform for unsavoury characters to take cover and unleash destructive tendencies. Voters in a democratic system must seek information on the quality of candidates if they are to hold their political representatives accountable to a certain standard. The time to usher in an exciting new era is now.

Man Cries As He Looses Wife After Spending ₦5.8million In Hospital

I’m devastated losing my wife to pregnancy complications after spending N5.8m – Businessman (Long but Try and Read till the End)

A 24-year-old businessman from Anambra State, Joseph Anenye, says losing his wife to pregnancy complications on August 19, 2023, two years after their wedding, has impacted him

When did you get married?

I had my traditional wedding on September 6, 2021. My wife is from Abia State, and she grew up with her grandmother. I got married in a church on January 5, 2022. She used to live in Awka (Anambra State) when I met her. We dated for one year. I left her in Awka and returned to Abuja.

Can you narrate what happened?

My wife, Silver Anenye, faced a critical medical situation when she was seven months pregnant, and it later led to her death. She was a month pregnant before leaving the East. Two days after she came to Abuja to live with me on April 28, 2022, she started bleeding. That led to a miscarriage. I felt it was the stress from the journey by road from the East to Abuja, so I took her to a Catholic hospital and I am a Catholic as well. When we got there, we were told that the miscarriage was caused by stress.

In April or June last year, she started complaining that she couldn’t see very well. So, I took her to the hospital. After examining her, it was found out that she had high blood pressure. It was confusing for the hospital workers when they found out she had no one with high BP in her system, in her lineage, and also that she was too young for that. So, we took her to an eye clinic, where she was given some drugs, and later referred to Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, in Abuja. They checked and did everything they could, but found nothing. Later, we were told that the high BP could be a result of high cholesterol history, so she stopped eating beef and restricted herself to only chicken. Also, we asked whether she could still get pregnant after the miscarriage, and we were told that she could.

When did she become pregnant for the second time?

She got pregnant again in December 2022. So, I asked her to go for a checkup that same day. I had to go and fix my car too that same day. I was at the mechanic’s workshop when she called me to inform me that she had news to share with me, but it was confusing when she told me it was a mixture of good news and bad news. She asked me which one I would like to hear first.

I told her to go ahead with the good news and she told me she was pregnant. I left the mechanic workshop and went to join her in the hospital. When I got to the hospital, I met a female doctor with her. The doctor congratulated me that my wife was two weeks pregnant, but she further explained that there was a problem. I asked her what the problem was, and she said my wife’s BP was getting extremely high. I can’t really remember the exact level, but it was over 190, so we changed the BP drugs because of her pregnancy. I think some BP drugs are not meant to be taken by pregnant women. We switched to a suitable one meant for pregnant women but I can’t remember the name.

Did she begin antenatal care?

Because of the high BP, she started antenatal care immediately. In the third month, she started developing some symptoms like vomiting and loss of appetite. She started vomiting everything she took, and she couldn’t eat well. When we went back to the hospital, she was given some drips because she was not eating anymore. We slept in the hospital for three weeks. Because she vomited everything she ate, she started losing weight seriously, and I thought that was a result of the food she wasn’t eating.

Two weeks after leaving the hospital, she did not use the toilet (defecate for two weeks). We went back to the hospital and they gave her some drugs. She started getting better and was able to use the toilet. When she was sick for months, we went back to the hospital where she was given a particular drip. A few days later, I had a contract to execute in Port Harcourt (Rivers State). I am engaged in two types of business: aluminum windows and acrylic paints. I went back to Port Harcourt, but because of her sickness, I didn’t stay there for long. I assigned my co-workers to continue with the job and I went back to Abuja. Days after I came back, I took her for antenatal care; she was seven months pregnant when I took her for antenatal care.

The health workers told us they wanted to do a scan so that we could see our baby. While we were in the hospital, we didn’t carry out the scan. When I got a call from one of my customers to come and do a supply, I told my wife I would come back to meet her and quickly went and supplied the goods. It took about 25 minutes to get to my shop. When I got to the shop, an unknown number called me and asked me to return to the hospital immediately.

What happened when you returned to the hospital?

I went back to the hospital and saw the doctors and nurses panicking and running helter-skelter. I met my wife crying, and the doctor narrated to me how she fainted a few minutes after I left. I was also told that her BP had risen to over 230. They said they wouldn’t release my wife and that they had to observe her for three days before discharging her. My elder sister, who is a pharmacist, called me, and I told her what happened. She advised me to let her stay for those three days, stating that if we left, I might be blamed for whatever happened afterward. So, her BP kept fluctuating. It continued like that for a week. We spent two weeks in the hospital, and the situation kept getting worse. Later, a doctor at the hospital advised me to take my wife to the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja where medical consultants could handle her situation. We were given a referral letter, and we went to FMC. We had our card there because we were there when her BP issue started.

Was she admitted immediately at the Federal Medical Centre?

After reading the referral letter, she was wheeled to the emergency room and admitted because her BP was still high, and underwent a series of tests.

What were the results of the tests?

They told us the results of the tests weren’t good and that we should go to a lab to run the tests so that we could compare. So, we went for the tests in a lab and returned to the hospital. When they compared the tests, they even told us the ones we did outside the hospital were worse than the ones we did in the hospital. My wife was dying, so they told us they would have to remove the baby.

When did that happen?

That was on June 5, 2023, and they had to do an emergency surgery. I was told that they would save my wife, but that the baby had a 50-50 chance of surviving. I had to agree; I told my wife initially but she refused. However, I persuaded her and paid for the surgery. They did the operation and brought out the baby. We saw the baby and the nurses told me to follow them to the place where they would keep the baby in an incubator, and I followed them.

Did they tell you about your wife’s condition?

After dropping the baby in the incubator, they told me to go back to my wife because she was in a coma. I went to see her where she was and asked a female doctor I saw there to tell me what the exact problem was. I was told she was in a coma, a critical case. They took her to the intensive care unit and within two hours, they called me from where the baby was kept. When I went there, I was told that the baby was dead. I felt sad and pained but I felt my wife’s life was more important.

Did you see her immediately?

I requested to see my wife and was told that because she was in a coma, I couldn’t see her and that she needed to be fine first. They told me to be patient and that I would see her. That night, they wrapped the baby and gave it to me. I was confused and not unstable. One of the cleaners told me that it was too late to go and bury the baby at that time of the night. She advised me to return the baby to them and I came for it the next morning. The next day, my younger brother and his friend had to bury the baby. My wife’s younger sister later joined me to run hospital errands. She was the only one who came around because she was in Abuja and studying at the University of Abuja. After the fourth day, my wife regained consciousness. She remained in the ICU for three days, and that amounted to N400,000. Note that we had spent a lot of money earlier.

From the ICU, she was taken to the ward, and she started asking me about the baby but I assured her that the baby was okay. She was recovering in the ward but she kept pestering me about the baby.

What did you tell her?

I told her the truth that the baby was no more, and she told me she already knew as she heard some nurses discussing the death of the baby. I had to console her before we went home.

Did her condition improve at home?

She complained of pain, saying she felt like something was biting her inside. We took her back to the hospital and she was admitted again, and a cardiologist examined her. When my brother saw her picture, he told the cardiologist on the phone that he would like to take her out of the country. After a while, a scan revealed an intestinal obstruction. By that time, my wife’s condition worsened by the day. I was told that her chance of survival was 50-50 but I objected. I consulted the cardiologist, who took me aside and told me that the best advice he could give was for my wife to undergo surgery at the hospital to save her life. In August, this year, I was given a paper to sign. I was confused and crying. But before the surgery, I discussed it with my wife, and she said if that was the best measure that they could take, she was okay with it.

Did she know about her chance of survival?

I never mentioned to her that the operation had a 50-50 chance of survival. The surgery was done at about 10 am, and she came out at about 5:30 pm. When she came around, I noticed she was tied up, and when I asked why, I was told she was in pain and could use her hands to remove the gadgets.

Later that night, I went inside my car and slept. At about 5am the next day, my phone rang and I was instructed to go to the hospital. A doctor and a nurse sat me down and told me that my wife’s heart had failed. I asked what they meant and they told me that she did not make it. So, it happened that she died on August 19, 2023. From the time she was admitted until she died, I spent about N5.8m, yet she did not make it. I did everything I could to see her get well; maybe that’s what God wanted. My wife’s entire family was shocked by her death.

How has the family been coping with the grief?

In all honesty, her death is a shock, and it has not been easy. I don’t think I can recover from the death of my wife and baby; it is a sad one. I felt so bad because I tried my best. I spent millions of naira to save her life and that of the baby but it was a waste of effort. Since the day she died, every time I sleep, I wake up at 4 am and cry until 6 am. I avoid touching my phone, and when I do, I see the videos I made with my wife and I can’t help it. It has not been easy. At times, thoughts come to me, and I wish I were dead. I loved her so much. I have never loved a woman like I loved her. I sometimes wish I had died instead of her.
