The Imo State bloggers, social media influencers, has been called upon to ensure professionalism in their report of events in the state in other not to project the state in a bad light.
The SSA on Networking to Imo State Governor Miss Chantel Adanna Chinyere made the appeal in the first familiarization meeting with online media held on Friday at the City Chef Restaurant Owerri.
She maintained the need for online media to project the government and her programmes above politics by offering constructive criticisms where necessary for the unity of the people, adding that the Governor meant well for journalists hence he engages them friendly and fruitfully.
Also present at the meeting is the Chief Political Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu who appealed to media practitioners in the state to always market the state in good light as there are enough developments on ground which are verifiable, adding that online media are the eyes of the government since their news are fast and people rely so much on their reportage.
Barr. Onuegbu added that the government of Senator Hope Uzodinmma has done well reconstructed Owerri -Orlu Road, Owerri -Okigwe road and others which previous government neglected with an excuse that it’s federal government roads, urge the media to report their news with objectivity.
“Write about the truth you see about the 3R led government. The government is not asking any body to lie, but to see realities of good governance on ground. The government belongs to us all and it needs the full support of the people to function more efficiently and effectively”, Onuegbu stressed.
Another speaker at the meeting former CP of Lagos State Dan Okoro(rtd) who is the SA on security in the 3R led administration said the Governor Hope Uzodimma has done well to curtail insecurity in the state and still doing more but encouraged the media put to action investigative journalism as to not misinform the public who trust them for realities on ground.
A renowned media expert and former Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists in the state, Chief Fidel Onyeneke at the occasion commended the initiators of the gathering, noting that it is one of the best gathering of all media practitioners in recent time.

He expressed thanks to the gentlemen of the media for honouring the occasion, while adding that no government succeeds without the media.
He urged online reporters not to be partisan, and bias in their reportage whether on social media or the conventional media.
Also present at the meeting is Comr. Chidiebube Okeoma who anchored the meeting.
