
Master Daniel (Abaleke) Anyanwu, a native of Umuahum Ndegwu Community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, was reportedly shot dead on Sunday, March 23, 2026, during the evening hours by unidentified assailants.
The unfortunate incident occurred at his Point of Sale, POS, location near Everyday Supermarket, Control Post, along World Bank Road in Owerri.
According to available reports, the young man was attacked by the criminals while attending to his business.

Following the attack, Daniel was immediately rushed to Vaden Hospital, where he was sadly confirmed dead by medical personnel.
Family sources disclosed that his father, Mr. Emma, and other relatives have been left devastated and confused by the tragic loss.
The deceased, who was the only son among three children, is survived by two sisters.
The family has reportedly considered his swift burial and he was laid to rest on Monday, March 23, 2026, at his home, Umuahum Ndegwu.
Eyewitness accounts and local sources revealed that the assailants demanded his money bag, which he was reluctant to release.
This reportedly led to the violent attack that claimed his life, after which the perpetrators fled the scene on a motorcycle with the stolen valuables.
Mourners and sympathisers within Ndegwu Community have described the late Daniel as a calm, respectful, and peace-loving young man, whose untimely death has left a deep void in the community.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police, Imo State Command, has been called upon to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice.
Residents and concerned stakeholders have also urged security agencies and the Imo State Government to strengthen measures aimed at curbing criminal activities in Owerri, particularly the alleged use of motorcycles by criminals to perpetrate such acts.
