ACCENTUATING THE CARDINAL CONSTITUTIONAL ROLE OF THE JUDICIARY IN SETTLEMENT OF PRE -ELECTION MATTERS AND ELECTION PETITIONS!

Following recent final court decisions in some pre-election matters and or Election Petition Appeals, candidates and their supporters who lost out in some of the cases decided on a final appeal either in the Court of Appeal (for State and National Assembly Elections) or in the Supreme Court (in the Governorship and Presidential elections or in Pre-election matters) have been crying blue murder either in the mistaken impression or deliberate mischievious hue that the courts are not part and parcel of the electoral process in Nigeria.

Massively deploying the services of spin doctors and hack writers including ignorant commentators, these somewhat “sore losers” are busy selling the ignoble narrative that it is the courts that now impose winners on the electorate as opposed to winners emerging via the ballot box.

For the undiscerning this warped logic looks dangerously attractive and pitches the masses against the sacred institution of the judiciary.

However, this does not represent the true state of facts because the law in Nigeria does not oust the jurisdiction of the courts in such high profile political cases.

It has therefore become imperative for it to be reiterated and emphatically too that the judicial powers donated to the Courts in section 6 of the 1999 Constitution as amended also extend to settlement of disputes emanating from intra party political contests and general elections.

As a first principle, our law frowns at resort to self help remedy as aggrieved persons are afforded ample opportunity to ventilate their grievances in civilzed forms.

This is couched in the ambitious Latin maxim “ubi jus ibi remedium” (meaning for every wrong, the law provides a remedy).

Access to courts for justice by an aggrieved person is one of the key manifestations of the concept of rule of law.

Consistent with this hallowed principle of rule of law, our law made robust provisions for redress of wrongs and injustices that may arise or be occasioned during contestations for power either within the political party itself during party primaries or when political parties compete against themselves during general elections conducted by INEC.

By a community reading of the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended and the Electoral Act, 2010 as amended, the role of the judiciary as the final arbiter in determining issues that arise from intra party and inter party elections are clearly defined and recognized.

Practically, the three recognized logical steps to attaining elective political office in Nigeria begin firstly with successful nomination as a candidate by a political party via primaries in intra party politics.

Only political parties can sponsor candidates in an election and based on the hallowed principle of party supremacy, the courts seldom interfere with the internal affairs of political parties.

However, under the Electoral Act, a small window for judicial intervention in party primaries is left open to aggrieved aspirants only and it is a pre-election matter.

The next and second key stage is the general election or inter party election involving sponsored candidates of the different political parties slugging it out for votes of the registered voters.

After the general election, INEC declares the result by announcing the winning political party and their candidate.

Thereafter, aggrieved political parties and or their candidates may decide to present election petitions within the stipulated time to an Election Petition Tribunal for adjudication.

This leads to litigation which is the third and last critical stage in the journey of political power that started from nomination and election.

Litigation by way of election petitions duly filed by aggrieved political parties and or their candidates are to be decided by the judiciary and this is where the Courts come in strongly.

Unless and until the status or eligibility of a sponsored party candidate to participate in the election or the mandate purportedly given to any political party in an election survives the critical judicial scrutiny in the Pre-election Courts or Election Petition Tribunals respectively, the fates of such candidate or mandate are still hanging in the balance.

Therefore, any vote cast for an unqualified candidate of a political party who was not supposed to stand for the election ab initio and subsequently sacked by the court in a pre-election suit is wasted vote or mandate.

Again, votes cast for a candidate of a political party that is removed from office by the Court following from an Election Petition on any of the grounds recognised under the Constitution and Electoral Act are wasted votes.

By law, elections are won by duly qualified candidates of political parties who garnered majority of valid and lawful votes cast (add spread only in Governorship and Presidential elections).

In a pre-election matter, it is the unshakable legal duty of the Court to stop unqualified candidates from taking part in the election and this will be given effect even if they go ahead to participate and win before the matter is concluded.

In an election petition, it is the unshirkable legal duty of the Court among other things to ensure that the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the electoral laws and that usurpers do not occupy positions they did not lawfully win.

Against the foregoing, it is therefore untrue and deceptive to make it come across that the courts do no allow the votes of the electorate to count when they eventually sack usurpers who were wrongfully declared winners or when they disqualify those who did not satisfy the irreducible minimum qualifications for holding public office ab initio.

This power of the courts to sack or remove usurpers from the offices they are unlawfully occupying is consistent with the constitutional power of adjudication bestowed on the judiciary and does not amount to supplanting the democratic will of the voters.

Conclusively therefore, any candidate participating in an election or any political party sponsoring candidates in an election ought reasonably to know that the Courts are not meddlesome interloppers but necessary gatekeepers in the elective position power calcus.

Thus, no election victory is “home and dry” until it survives judicial scrutiny.

That is our law and a good one at that.

No matter how desperation for power leads our political class to call out the judiciary, even for the wrong reasons, the judiciary remains the bulwark of democracy and the last hope of the common and uncommon man.

To pretend otherwise is laughable as it amounts to living in self denial.

A new normal is possible!

This is the sentiment embodied in that Declaration of Independence.I do the very best I know how – the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing so until the end.what then is the end…YOUTHS should prepare academically,morally,financially etc to suit and and make a dream…see the best potentials you possess..and follow them..Gold is good in its place; but loving, brave, patriotic men are better than gold.

That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.listen follow young leaders we are better then most governors,house members..lawyers etc…We have the dream…We have the desire..So we will never give up.Whatever you are, be a good one.listen leaders don’t misbehave.It has so happened in all ages of the world that some have labored, and others have, without labor, enjoyed a large proportion of the fruits.

We are all graduates..doing everything…fighting for politicians at the end..they forget our struggles save for their children..in Nigeria YOUTHS are jobless,the politicians steal billions..We don’t fight them or harm then…when a youth steal bread..We kill them and burn them why?

The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just….

Nigeria shiga ashiga

I was having a deep sober reflection into the insecurity regime/situation in Nigeria. A lot of things crossed my mind to the point of restiveness.

Then the thought of a song Sir Warrior and his Oriental Brothers did in the late 70s or early 80s assumed a central position: Agbakwuru Ajo Madu, Agbakwuru Ajo Mmo… Uwa le lee… Ebe a shiwa-ashiwa…’
This ‘thought’ stood and refused to give way for me to continue thinking. So, I gave it more serious thought.
Then I got the message.

Those musicians were actually prophets; visionaries in their own ways. Like Nostrademus, they say tomorrow. Warrior is dead and gone. I don’t think Nigeria was actually so bad when he did that song, ‘Ebe a shiwa-ashiwa.
In the South-East, the government wrettled and brought kidnappers under control; in the South-South, it was a battle with militants and Creek boys; in the South-West the Odua/Alaye boys were causing troubles; North-East, Boko Haram is almost invincible; North-West, bandits/kidnappers have formed their own colony; in the North-Central, the Fulani herdsmen. This last group has spread throughout Nigeria.

Now, you see that virtually no part of Nigeria is safe; all the six geo-political zones have tales of woes to tell. Nigeria shiwa-ashiwa indeed.

If you say let me escape to the North, South, East or West, it becomes a case of ‘Agbakwuru Ajo Madu, Agbakwuru Ajo mmo.’
Hmm! Uwa le lee eh! Ebe a shiwa-ashiwa leee…!

“But my mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul… ”

David thought of building a house for God in appreciation for His goodness towards him but God said he shouldn’t do it and handed over the responsibility to his son and successor Solomon. However, God was tremendously delighted about it and blessed him with the covenant of eternal dynasty. God is always happy when people think of doing or actually do great things for Him. Include God’s work in your plans this year and He will bless you abundantly.

One of the striking statements of the blessing was that God wouldn’t remove His mercy from the house of David as He did to Saul even if his children sinned against Him though He would punish them with the rod of men. The implication is that God’s goodness, favour, kindness, blessings, protection and grace will never leave David and his descendants. It will be disastrous for anyone from whose life the mercy of God has been withdrawn as in the case of Saul and his descendants. The consequences are terribly unpleasant.

Saul lost God’s mercy due to his failure to admit his sins and repent of them as David did. Instead of pleading for God’s mercy in 1Sam15, Saul arrogantly became more concerned about his office and in that vain attempt he mistakenly tore Samuel’s clothe and attracted more curses to himself.

David was a man of deep humility and contrition, showing remorse for his failure, with a large heart for God even after being punished for his sin. This is how to attract and keep God’s mercy permanently in our lives. Our text became David’s song in all generations, “His mercies endures forever “. May this also be ours in the Name of JESUS Christ. It is not strange for frail human beings to err but we shouldn’t pass the buck when we fail like Saul did.

TEXT :Dan 2:17-19

“Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael and Azaria, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon… Then the secret was revealed to Daniel … ”

Daniel and his fellow Hebrew young men were to be killed like other magicians, sorcerers and astrologers for failing to tell the dream of King Nebuchadnezzar which he forgot and also gave the interpretation.Their colleagues saw such a task as something unheard of, yet the king insisted this must be the first ever or else they must die together with their families and their houses burnt down.

The magicians said only the God whose dwelling wasn’t with men could reveal such secrets. So the killing started and Daniel and his brothers were at the verge of being killed. Have you ever faced a situation like this with a death sentence or termination of appointment hanging on your neck? God will surely intervene for you and give you a testimony.

Determined not to die with others, Daniel enlisted the cooperation of his brothers to seek the mercies of God through prayer. Daniel and his companions didn’t trust in their expertise as well trained astrologers but they wanted God to show them mercy, not what they merited as descendants of Abraham. Rightly so, they needed God’s mercy in view of the enormity of the sins of their fathers which made them to become slaves and eunuchs in a foreign land. God answered their prayers and both the dream and the interpretation were revealed to Daniel which the king saw as correct and rewarded them.

Let’s learn from this episode not to trust in our abilities, certificates or experience but in the mercies of God when we are faced with such life or destiny -threatening situations. God will in His mercies turn such situations into amazing

Text :Luke 18:13
“And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God be merciful to me a sinner’.

The Lord taught the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector which is found in Luke 18:9-14 to show that those who exalt themselves will be humbled while those who humble themselves will be exalted.

In the narrative, the Pharisee and the tax collector went to pray in the temple. While the former arrogantly, boastfully and pridefully relied on his self righteousness for God to answer his prayers, the latter in sincere humility saw himself as a sinner, deserving no privileges in God, pleaded for mercy. The conclusion was that the tax collector went to his house justified (made righteous, with all the blessings of the righteous, including answers to prayers and divine exaltation) while the Pharisee missed all.

It is our obligation as God’s children to be faithful in tithing, giving reasonable offerings to support God’s work and being committed to fasting and prayer among other things. However, we should not flaunt such services as credentials for acceptance and blessings from the God. God hates self-righteousness, pride and arrogance but He rewards sincere humility and self-abasement which looks up to Him for mercy. The prayers of such humble people are often accompanied with brokenheartedness and tears which are lacking in the case of the arrogant. We should always pray for God’s mercy even as we do the best we can as we serve Him. In Christ Jesus, sinners who are despised like the tax collectors of Jesus’ day can enjoy unlimited blessings if they look up to the Lord in humility, admitting their sinfulness.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I deserve nothing good from you but be merciful to me and bless me.

Not by merit but by Mercy by Rev. Godwin Awaowo.

TEXT:Gen39:20-21

“…And he was there in the prison. But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison “.

Very vividly, this passage contains all the three essential elements which we need to succeed in all our endeavours, namely, God’s presence, God’s mercy and God’s favour. These played out in the life of Joseph so that he triumphed over all his adversities to become a Prime Minister in Egypt. But why did he need God’s mercy when it is obvious that he was a very godly person? The answer is found in our originating text, Rom 9:16.

We can’t rule out persecutions, envy, temptations, jealousy, hatred, false accusations and injustice in the course of pursuing our visions and dreams of greatness. Joseph passed through these, but what would have consumed him finally was the framed up charges that he wanted to rape his Master’s wife and so he was unjustly imprisoned for it. He was supposed to be summarily executed as a slave but for God’s presence, mercy and favour.

Are you or your relations currently going through similar situations? These are raw materials for your miracles if you can ask God to show you mercy, be with you and give you favour before all types of people. These are the main keys to success and greatness in life.

So many people have lost their voices and health in calling Holy Ghost fire upon all sorts of people and situations, yet no good thing has happened to them. Let’s get it right this time and the difference shall be clear.

Prayer :Dear Lord, don’t allow your presence, mercy and favour to depart from me.

Ikpeazu, Osusu Road and the recovery of Aba in phases.

I am not writing for those who view Aba from the prism of a city in ruins despite recent efforts to change the narratives. I am not writing for those who believe that unless all roads in Aba are reconstructed same day, then the Governor had not dome anything. I am not writing for those who have never been to Aba before or had visited Osusu Road in the last fifteen or so years. I am not writing for those who make unhealthy comparisons to score cheap political points.I am writing for the thousands of shop owners in Osusu Road whose businesses were forced to go extinct owing to deplorable state of the road that lingered several years. I am writing for the thousands of house owners whose property value were dangerously downgraded owing to the impassable nature of the road.I am writing for the thousands of vehicle owners who despite having vehicles trekked miles to access their houses. I am writing for the itinerant traders who had to stop at Osusu/Faulks, walked miles with heavy loads because Osusy Road was a no go area for several years.I am writing for the thousands of inhabitants of Slaughter Lane, Leach, Broad Street , Uzoigwe Road, Onuoha Road, Cemetry Road, Akalanna Street, Ehime Street, Egbulefu Streer, Ukaku Street; Nwogu Street, Ferguson and indeed several others who tarried for several years, made to find alternative routes because their Osusu Road separated them from the rest of Aba.

The Abia Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D no doubt has demonstrated comprehensive understanding of mostly phenomenal challenges faced by Aba residents. Gradually, he is recovering critical infrastructures that would return Aba back to reckoning. This he is doing in the most effortless manner.

If you had ever lived in Aba, you will appreciate that Ikpeazu has identified those roads that despite their distance and stretch are critical to the recovery of a city that suffered long years of neglect.If you had ever lived in Aba, you will appreciate that reconstructing Eziukwu/Cemetry Road is a bold statement that no road is intractable.

This is not mentioning Porthacourt Road that seemed a mirage or a Faulks Roads that in those days was another name for nightmare. In my time, I knew when there was no single passable road in the whole of Ogbor Hill axis. Today, you may not find any that is in bad shape. If you doubt me, see Umoba, Ukaegbu, Ovom, Umuola and Opobo Roads.

Ikpeazu left lasting impressions on these roads not so much for fun but in his determination to recover Aba in phases.Of all the over sixty (60) roads reconstructed in Aba, we find Osusu Road as capturing the mood of a Governor whose ears are close to the ground, a Governor who listens, a Governor who has in 2.3km of Rigid Pavement injected life into a community that had long given up on government. Osusu Residents and indeed hundreds of thousands of commuters would in several years appreciate an Ikpeazu that restored hope at a time it seemed a budding mirage.

We will not forget even if dreams die.

Nothing can be more painful than the pain of living in today’s Nigeria and the daily leadership shame that we experience every day

It is no longer news that most international airlines diverted their flights to Accra Ghana because the Instrument Landing Systems/facilities in Nigeria major airports are not working. What a shame !

Annually, the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria collects over N100billion / $277million from both local and international passengers that pass through our airports. These are revenues from the average 4.3m international passengers that they charge $50 each and the N1000 they take from the average 16million to 17million passengers that pass through the domestic routes.

These revenue lines just do not include the fees airlines and other users of the airports pay to the FAAN purse .

To instal and operate a world class and working ILS at any of our international airports with all the support infrastructure will not cost more than $10m/N3.6billion . The annual maintenance fee is just $1m/N360m

So, why is it so difficult for an agency that extorts conservatively over N160billion/$450m from passengers and stakeholders , who use our airports annually, to bring out as little as $10m to fix the main instrument that can help aircrafts take off and landing at our key airports .?

What is holding us back from totally LIBERALIZING AND PRIVATIZING THE MANAGEMENT OF OUR AIRPORTS to capable private sector operators .

GATWICK airport is owned and managed by GIP, which is pioneered by a Nigerian , Bayo Ogunlesi. Gatwick is far bigger and more professionally run than any airport we have in Africa , not to talk of the shithole , called Nigeria.

Most of our airports are like pigstyles . It is so annoying and frustrating for us to be subjected to so much suffering just because we refused to do the right things and have saddled conscienceless and grossly incompetent men and women with the task of running our MDAs.

How can we continue to allow the lives of 198m people be messed up daily by these incompetent goons? How ? Why ?

The terrible pain and anguish that many Nigerians have been subjected to over the last 4 days, because their flights were diverted to accra Ghana is better imagined than experienced….

Ghana /Ghanians of all places and people are now the people showing us the way and rescuing us. How low can we sink before we all rise up to scream and stop this madness?

The last may not have been heard of the outcome of Bayelsa election.

Wike to Oshiomhole: I’m a lawyer, I went to Law School and passed very well, tell me the university you attended

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State, on Saturday, came down hard on the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

Describing Oshiomhole “and his associates” as political armed robbers, Wike said Oshiomhole was resisted by Rivers people from stealing their mandate in the last general elections, “hence his bitterness towards Rivers State”.

Wike, who stated that he is not a violent politician, emphasised that under no circumstances would Rivers people allow Oshiomhole and his associates rob them of their mandate.

The Rivers Governor called for the resignation of Adams Oshiomhole in view of his failure to stop the inauguration of Bayelsa State Governor as he boasted.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, he said:

“This is a country where you see people who do not have character. Today, they sing a song, tomorrow they sing another song. I think Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress PC is not a character that anybody should associate with.

“First of all I have never been violent and I will never be violent. However, when you see an armed robber come to your house, will you plead with the armed robber and say please I beg you leave my house? People think that armed robbers are only those who cart away people’s money.

The worst form of armed robbery is when you steal people’s mandate and that is what Oshiomhole is noted for. He thinks because he’s in the ruling party, he can use security to steal the mandate of the people. He was taught a lesson, a bitter lesson and I want to repeat, if you come to steal our mandate, the people will respond accordingly.

They will oppose your stealing of their mandate and so Oshiomhole thinks that because he is in the ruling party, nobody should say anything or do anything. Stealing is not only when you go to rob a bank. The worse form of armed robbery is when you steal the mandate of the people”.

Wike described Oshiomhole as a politician without character.
He noted that the APC National Chairman is always driven by survival instincts.

He stated that Oshiomhole cannot lay claim to having canvassed for one man, one vote because he is not practising the philosophy.

He noted that he stopped attending the National Economic Council because Oshiomhole turned it into a forum to bash former President Goodluck Jonathan, when he had gone to praise Jonathan at Aso Villa for ensuring credible elections.

“When Jonathan made sure the election was free and fair, Oshiomhole came to the villa and thanked Jonathan. When Jonathan left office, one of the reasons I don’t go to NEC meeting is because of Oshiomhole. When Jonathan left, there was no day at the NEC meeting Oshiomhole will not bring Jonathan down. Meanwhile, that was the same man Oshiomhole went to praise for allowing one man, one vote. But when the man left, Oshiomhole changed. That is his character,” he said.

Wike said that Oshiomhole became Governor through questionable means. He noted that the questionable emergence of Oshiomhole led to constitutional amendment for Governorship Matters to terminate at the Supreme Court.

He said: “Nigerians know one matter that led to the amendment of the Electoral Act where Governorship election has to go to the Supreme Court is because of the Oshiomhole matter. So, he cannot come out and say he was clean in terms of Electoral process. That will be very bad.

“Oshiomhole said he fought godfatherism and the same time he wants to install himself as a godfather in Edo State. Why is he fighting Obaseki? Because the man doesn’t take instruction from him. He preaches what he doesn’t practise. ”
The Rivers Governor maintained that Oshiomhole lacks the powers to challenge the pronouncement of the Supreme Court.

Wike said that Oshiomhole’s talk questioning his membership of PDP is the unintelligent talk of an illiterate, declaring that he is a strong and unrepentant member of PDP.

He said that he speaks out his mind at all times does not mean that his membership of PDP is in doubt.
Wike said that he is not at the same level with Oshiomhole. He noted that what Oshiomhole is doing is to regain the confidence of APC Governors and leaders.

He said: “I will not be a member of their party, I have always been a member of PDP and they know that. Oshiomhole knows that his party does not even score up to 25 per cent in my state. He cannot tell me that. There is a saying in my place. Somebody who has nothing to say, he says see how you are.

So, Oshiomhole has nothing to say about me. And I want to tell him that his party is probing him about the so-called hospital he says he built. I am not the one.
“So he should face his problems but shame should be on him that at the end of the day, that the PDP Candidate has been sworn in as the governor of Bayelsa State. You can’t come out and open your mouth and say it will never happen. Now, it has happened.

“If I were him, I will resign, I will leave. I am not his friend, so he cannot say he is my friend. How can I be a friend to somebody who will say one thing today , tomorrow he says another thing? In the night, he visits so so person, that’s not me. When I want to see you, I see you in the day time.

Oshiomhole visits people at night. It is very very unfortunate for him and I pity him. All his efforts to regain his chairmanship has failed.
“All he is doing today is because the governors and some leaders of the party are saying that this man cannot lead our party. Oshiomhole has failed. He is a man who opens his mouth anyhow.

And this should be his last time, the moment he goes further then he will know that Rivers State is not what he thinks it is.
“We will tell him where he belongs. I will tell him where he goes in the night, and where he goes in the day time.”

Wike said the former unionist was very corrupt, as he used proceeds from workers to build his political career.

He said: “Oshiomhole claimed he was a unionist. He said he worked in the textile industry. Mention one man who works in the textile industry and is as rich as Oshiomhole today. He used to wear ordinary Khaki, today he wears Safari with diamond buttons. Simply because I said Oshiomhole cannot destabilise this country, who the hell is Oshiomhole to say that nobody can be sworn in when the Supreme Court has made a pronouncement whether good or bad”.

What made them not to have candidates in Rivers State and Zamfara, its because of Oshiomhole.

Oshiomhole led to the problem they have in Bayelsa. Oshiomhole take from two sides. He is not a man of integrity and nobody should take him seriously.”

Wike added: “It is not my position to say it is right or wrong but Oshiomhole cannot open his wide mouth to say it cannot happen and now it has happened, what will he do? Don’t destabilise the country. Don’t cause crisis for this country.

You may be closer to the President and that is not the way to retain your position as Chairman of the party because Oshiomhole doesn’t have the support of most of the Governors because of his style of leadership and it is very clear so Oshiomhole doesn’t have the right to tell me that I am a man of violence.

“Oshiomhole came from the background of an armed robber to steal the vote of Rivers people and we defended our votes and Oshiomhole is ashamed that we defended our votes and will still defend our votes till tomorrow. Rivers State is not like his State Edo where he can talk to anybody the way he likes.

This should be the last time Oshiomhole should open his mouth and talk to anybody in Rivers State, we are not at the same level in terms of Education. Rivers State is not like Edo State where you bring down a sitting Governor because he wants to install another Governor. It depends on the people of Edo State to allow that , but for Rivers State, we will not allow anybody who wants to be a godfather”.

The evil of supporting husbands slaughtering has claimed its first victim as one of those Feminists by name Vivian Chidinma Chidubem has been kicked out by her new husband over the comment she made in “Extraordinary Mums & Singles” Facebook group in which she expressed support for slaughtering of husband and even added that instead of using knife they should remove the break of their husband’s car so that he can involve in fatal accident and die or sustain mortal injury.

Findings by Arise News247 reveals that angry Nigerians who read the reckless comment in the group, checked her previous posts and realized that she posted pictures of her marriage not too long. Hence, they screengrab her comment on how to kill husband without using knife, then traced her husband and sent him the screenshot.

Arise News247 further gathered that though she quickly deleted the comment and temporarily deactivated her Facebook account, but it was too late as she still didn’t succeed in denying ever making such comment in the so called “Feminists Facebook group” where she might have erroneously assumed that her husband will not know she made such comment, since it’s a strictly only female group.

According to those who know her physically, the furious husband immediately sent her back to her father’s house with strict warning never to return to his house, explaining that he is still too young to die and even if he becomes old he wouldn’t want to die painful death in the hand of a murderous woman he assumed he trusted.

As at the time of filing this report, some Nigerians are still trailing others who made comment on how to kill a cheating husband both in the group and in a Facebook page called, “DPA Rambo” notorious for teaching married women how to divorce at slightest quarrel and help them in making the divorce fast.

Shelterless Syrians burn refuse for warmth as 140,000 more flee. 

Another 142,000 people have fled air strikes and advancing troops in Syria’s Idlib province this week, bringing the total number of those uprooted since 1 December to over 800,000, the UN said on Thursday. At least 60 per cent of those displaced are estimated to be children. Reuters reports that fleeing families are sleeping rough in streets and olive groves and burning toxic bundles of rubbish to stay warm in bitterly cold winter weather. Relief workers said several children had died in the last week alone due to the freezing temperatures. In one camp in northern Idlib, a family of four died of suffocation on Tuesday after inhaling fumes from a fire they had made with old clothing, shoes and cardboard. Many local aid workers have themselves been displaced, making it difficult for them to respond to humanitarian needs that are “increasing exponentially”. Ahmed Mahmoud, Syria country director for Islamic Relief, writes that 90 per cent of his staff in the region have been forced to flee their homes and are battling to provide food and shelter to thousands of other displaced people.

European court backs Spain’s pushbacks in Melilla. NewMediaGalaxy

The European Court of Human Rights ruled on Thursday that Spain acted lawfully when it rapidly deported two men who entered its north African enclave of Melilla by scaling a border fence from Morocco. The men, who are from Mali and Ivory Coast, were among hundreds who climbed the fence on 13 August 2014. They were caught by Spanish police and immediately handed over to Moroccan authorities. The judgement said the men had placed themselves in an “unlawful situation” by not seeking refuge through the correct channels. It follows an appeal by Spain, to which Italy, Belgium and France joined, and reverses an initial ruling that Spain’s rapid return of the men had violated the European Convention on Human Rights. UNHCR, which intervened in the case as a third-party, stressed that pushbacks of people who may be in need of international protection contravene international refugee and human rights law. Rights groups described the ruling as a “blow for refugee and migrant rights” that could set a precedent for push backs elsewhere in the EU.

10 things that can cause death while asleep. NewMediaGalaxy

Sleep is meant to allow us rest and regain strength both mentally and physically, but sometimes, heartbreaking stories arise from it. Take dying for example; there are more people dying from their sleep than most people know. Some of these people either had an illness they weren’t taking seriously or they just got unlucky in their sleep.

So what are those commonly known (and unknown) ways people die through their sleep?

SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST

Sudden cardiac arrest, also known as SCA, can occur when the sinoatrial node, which is the node in the heart that is essentially your body’s natural pacemaker, becomes impaired. In other words, this condition occurs when the electrical systems of the heart malfunction. And in some cases, it is deadly within the first few minutes.

How does it kill? Well, it basically reduces blood flow to the brain. And the scariest part? Not only can it happen during sleep, but half of cases show no symptoms before the cardiac arrest occurs.

CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING

Carbon monoxide, or CO, is a colourless and odourless gas that can be lethal if too much of it is breathed into the lungs. It can be found in the fumes that come from running cars, generators, stoves, grills, fireplaces, gas ranges, furnaces, and so on, and it can be almost impossible to detect unless a carbon monoxide detector is in use.

How does it kill? Basically, if enough of it builds up in a small enough space, breathing it in can become toxic. And if you inhale enough of it, just having it in your lungs can be enough to “seal the deal” in a very final way. If awake, the victim may experience symptoms like dizziness, weakness, a headache, or an upset stomach. But what if it catches you while you’re asleep? Well, people who are sleeping often experience no symptoms, and they can die in their sleep before they even realise that it’s happening.

MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

A myocardial infarction, more commonly known as a heart attack, can happen during sleep, though thankfully, the odds are pretty good that this specific type of cardiac event will wake its victim up before it kills them.

Heart attacks happen when blood flow to part of the heart gets blocked. This blockage can destroy part of the heart muscle.

How does it kill? If enough heart tissue gets damaged, the heart may not be strong enough to pump any blood out to the rest of the body. This can result in heart failure, which could be lethal if medical treatment isn’t obtained immediately.

Unfortunately, it isn’t usually possible for a heart attack victim to seek medical attention if they are asleep, and that is the part that’s terrifying.

CENTRAL SLEEP APNEA

CSA is basically a disorder that causes the sufferer’s breathing to stop and start repeatedly while they are unconscious. It happens when the brain doesn’t send the proper electrical signals to the muscles that control the breathing mechanisms during sleep and is believed to originate from a problem in the brain stem.

How does it kill? Basically, if the case of apnea is bad enough, hypoxemia may set in—which happens when oxygen levels in the body fall below those required for normal life function. This basically leads to oxygen deprivation.

If the brain is not able to rouse the body in enough time to take a breath, the prognosis can be fatal!

UNEXPLAINED NOCTURNAL DEATH SYNDROME

Unexplained nocturnal death syndrome (SUNDS) was first reported in 1917. Since then, it has gained a pretty scary reputation in both textbooks and on the dark corners of the Internet. In the Philippines, they call it Bangungut, and in Hawaii, they call it Dream Disease.

The exact cause of death among those who die of SUNDS is actually still unclear, but the presentation always seems to be similar. It basically causes otherwise young, healthy individuals to die in their sleep for seemingly no reason.

How does it kill? Scientists still aren’t sure, but it tends to occur frequently in Southeast Asia, and researchers suspect a range of possible explanations, from malfunctions of the ion channel to ventricular fibrillation.

CEREBRAL ANEURYSM

A cerebral aneurysm, also known as a brain aneurysm, is basically a weak spot in the wall of a blood vessel in the brain. It is kind of like a thin balloon that fills with blood. But over time, as the blood pumps through the artery, it continues to weaken and swell—and if the pressure increases too much, a rupture can occur.

How does it kill? When an aneurysm ruptures, the bleeding usually only lasts for a few seconds. But the blood causes damage to the surrounding brain cells and can increase the pressure inside the skull if the pressure elevates too much, the condition can quickly turn fatal.

ENTEROVIRUS D68

This is one of the more obscure entries on this list, but that makes it no less terrifying.

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is a type of non-polio enterovirus that was first identified back in 1962. But back in 2014, there was a huge increase in the number of reported cases, leaving researchers to wonder if the virus was going to become more predominant in coming years than they had expected.

The scary thing about EV-D68 is that while it usually causes mild to severe respiratory illness symptoms, it sometimes produces no symptoms at all. Yet, physicians are saying that the disease has the potential to be more dangerous than Ebola in most parts of the world.

How does it kill? It can cause particularly severe respiratory problems, characterised by a high-pitched wheezing sound that has become a dreaded earmark of infection. It has also been associated with muscle weakness and spinal cord inflammation, which is perhaps even more terrifying than the wheezing.

Dying of an infection is not necessarily common, but sometimes, the symptoms are dangerous enough to kill—even if the victim is asleep.

DRY DROWNING

Most of us are aware that you can drown in the water. This seems like a no-brainer, but a lot of people are not familiar at all with the term “dry drowning” and what it means.

And as it turns out, it is a pretty horrific way to die!

Basically, the idea behind this danger is that it is a type of drowning that can occur even after the victim has left the water. It is technically still drowning, but “dry drowning” is the term that has come to be used to describe it, though some doctors have argued for the dropping of said term.

It can occur when inhaled water, even just a drop or two, makes it past the throat and into the lungs. This usually causes symptoms, but they are sometimes mild and easy to miss.

The scary thing is that this water can cause breathing problems that get worse over time. And in some cases, these breathing problems don’t strike until hours, or even days later—after the victim has fallen asleep.

So-called “dry drowning” is actually pretty rare when you look at total deaths attributed to drowning, but this makes it no less disturbing.

How does it kill? It basically asphyxiates the victim— depriving them of oxygen until they suffocate.

THE WIDOW MAKER HEART ATTACK

While most heart attacks have a decent chance of waking their victims up before death occurs, the Widow Maker tends to be an exception.

We have already mentioned heart attacks in general once on this list, but this particular type of infarction deserves its own spot. Why? Because it is among the deadliest types of heart attacks that can occur. It happens when the left main artery, also known as the left anterior descending artery, gets blocked. A 100-percent blockage in this artery is almost always fatal without immediate emergency care—hence the nickname.

And how does it kill? Heart attacks with severe enough blockages result in damaged heart muscle. And if the muscle becomes too damaged to pump blood, the result can be fatal.

OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder in which the victim repeatedly stops and starts their breathing process during sleep. OSA is by far the most common type of sleep apnea, and as it turns out, it is also probably the most likely reason that a person may die in their sleep.

This type of sleep apnea is literally caused by an obstruction that blocks the airway. This obstruction is usually caused by sagging throat muscles, though the muscles and tissues of the tongue, uvula, tonsils, and soft palate can all play a part.

It has been said that millions of people suffer from sleep apnea, but that about 80 percent of them go undiagnosed—making it a true “silent killer” that many people remain unaware of.

So how does it kill? People with OSA experience sudden drops in blood oxygen levels when they stop breathing, and if they are already at risk for a heart attack, stroke, or heart failure, then OSA can be the trigger that sets a sudden cardiac event into motion.

In such cases, death may occur before the victim even has a chance to wake up.

It will be recalled that Senator Uwajumogu slumped and died last December 18th, 2019 in Abuja, until his date he was the senator representing Okigwe zone of Imo State.

The late Ben. Uwajumogu fought for his victory in court which he won two months before his death. He was a ranking member of the senate.

His body will Abuja today for Imo state for burial.

Another Protest Hit Imo State capital Owerri. NewMediaGalaxy

The last may not have been heard of the supreme court judgement over Imo state Governorship election that sacked RT.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and ushered in Hope Uzodimma as the winner.

Since the January 18th verdict, protests and counter-protests have been taken over the state capital and other cities in Nigeria.

First it was PDP calling the supreme court to review their judgement, this didn’t go down well with APC faithfuls in the state who staged counter protests calling supreme court not listen to PDP.

The days later PDP staged another protests on same issue as APC countered it. And these made the governor to give other to stop further protest in the state as he would not tolerate any act to disterbilize the state.

These warning he gave before traveling with President Buhari to AU summit, but today the PDP has staged another protest this time with Imo born super star Charles Oputa popularly called Chaly_boy(Area Fada) in attendance.

In his speech we are not fighting, we are not making trouble, but we are pleading with supreme court to kindly look into the appeal before apex court to review their judgement on Imo Governorship election.

It will recalled that Charly Boy last year took his awareness campaign of “OUR MUMU DON DO” to Owerri the state capital.

There have not been official statement from Government over this as at the time of filling this report.

Nigerian kills Brother in South Africa.

Nigerian man kills another Nigerian man, who is his relative, in a brawl in South Africa over a failed business transaction.

A statement released by the President, Nigeria Citizens Association South Africa, NICASA, Ben Okoli, said the incident happened in Kempton Park on Monday night February 10th, at 7:30 pm.

The statement reads in part

“NICASA has received information from our ward leader in Kempton Park, where two Nigerians engaged in a fight that led to the death of one of them. The two Nigerians are related, from Orlu Senatorial zone of Imo State. .

Our preliminary investigation revealed that the two Nigerians, one known as Batista and the other as Ide, got into fisticuffs apparently over disagreements on some money to be paid to some creditor. Batista, who was the senior of the two relatives hit the younger Ide with a brick on his head and pushed him to the ground. Ide fell to the ground hitting his medulla on the ground. He was rushed to Arwyp Hospital, Kempton Park, South Africa, where he died shortly after he was admitted”.

EVEN THE INFALLIBLE SUPREME GOD HAS HAD CAUSE TO REVIEW & REVERSE HIS DECISIONS WHEN PRESENTED WITH A COMPELLING ARGUMENT FROM MERE MORTALS

Inasmuch as I will not contend with the fact of the finality of the decisions of the Supreme court, I will maintain that it will amount to playing a role higher than God for the judges to use that as a reason for claiming or ascribing infallibility to themselves especially in the light of recent compelling and disturbing facts that have emerged which ought to render the judgment on IMO state a nullity being a clear product of clerical and arithmetical mistakes and one obtained by fraud.

Without sounding blasphemous, our holy book is replete with examples of instances where even the Almighty infallible supreme God and ultimate dispenser of justice has had to review his decisions and make an amendment or sometimes a complete U-turn on His sovereign decisions when presented with compelling reasons and petitions by mere mortals whom He created.

From the story of “repenting” from His avowed resolve to destroy Nineveh to the lifting of a death sentence and addition of 15yrs to Nehemiah’s life, we see several instances where God “reviewed” His judgement in the light of more recent facts or development.

I urge the supreme court justices to have the courage to look dispassionately into the decisions taken and review/reverse it in the interest of fairness. Anything short of this will certainly be ascribing a role higher than God to themselves.

Pastor killed a Prostitute, buried parts in his altar. Newmediagalaxy

A Pastor of a Celestian Church, Mr Adesegun babatunde has been arrested by the Osun State Police alongside his accomplices, who claimed to be his boys and church members for killing a sex worker.

The victim’s head, legs, kidney, one hand were cut and buried at the altar, while the remaining body was buried in a bush.

According to reports, the deceased is said to be from Rivers State, who left there looking for greener pasture without the knowledge of her parents.

On further interrogation, the suspects confessed that the pastor told them to bring a girl for ritual purposes as he promised to pay them N500. 000.00.

The suspects thereafter took the investigators to where the remains of the victim was buried.

The police were able to track and arrest Pastor Otaruu who fled the neighborhood as his accomplices were arrested

The exhumed remains of the victim were deposited at General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

They will all be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.

Escaped HYENA recaptured in Owerri. Galaxy news

Experts have recaptured a male hyena which escaped from Imo State Zoological Garden and Wildlife Park at the early hours of Monday.

General Manager of the zoo, Francis Abioye Who confirmed the recapture of the animal told our correspondent that the hyena was recaptured after six hours of its escape by experts.

Before the recapturing, there was heavy panic within the Nekede autonomous community in Owerri West council area, a host community of the zoo.

However, the GM who led the operation said there was no casualty as the animal was recaptured by experts through “Physical Restricted Method,”.

He disclosed that the operation lasted for six hours before the animal was eventually captured.

Abioye explained that the operation was aided by armed personnel of Civil Defense corps who were attached to the zoo.

Abioye however advised the general public to go about their normal business as the situation has been put under control.

Police arrests suspects that attacked Emir of Potiskum. Galaxy news

The police say three suspected members of Ansaru militant group were arrested during the raid on the militants’ camp in Kaduna.

Frank Mba, police spokesman, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He said the suspects are Munkailu Isah (32yrs), Abdullahi Saminu (21yrs) and Aminu Usman (22yrs).

Mba said eight suspected militants have so far been arrested.

He said investigation revealed that the suspects were actively involved in the recent attack and attempted kidnap of Umaru Bubaram, emir of Potiskum, Yobe state.

He said the suspects are already assisting the police with useful information relating to “the membership spread and make-up, criminal/operational records, logistics and general modus operandi of the terror group” .

He also said they were involved in several other kidnap operations and attacks on commuters and other citizens along some major highways in the north-west and north-central states.

He said investigation also revealed that some citizens support the insurgents “by deliberately doing businesses with them through the supply of essential goods, drugs and other services”.

Mba said Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police, asked Nigerians to support the fight against terrorism.

The police raided a camp of the group in Kuduru forest, Birnin-Gwari area of the state, killing “250 fighters” last Wednesday.

During the operation, the force lost Muhammed Abubakar, an inspector, while 13 other officers sustained wounds. On Saturday, one of the wounded officers died

Some times people will think you are foolish when you are waiting on God.
He that created can recreate no matter the condition, God is ever faithful.
Once you are still breathing you are still on the coma lane, let us not put fullstop where God put coma.
God has not finished with you yet.

I am a divine project in God’s hand.
The word of God is bigger than any experience, stop listening to what people are saying or what the Circumstances of life are telling you but close your eyes and ears to Circumstance of life and focus on what God is saying for whatever he says, He will surely bring it to pass. Focus on God’s word it is a promise that will surely come to pass.

As you keep trusting God and believing his word all his promises about you will come to fulfilment. In Jesus Mighty name Amen.

The funeral of Isaac Promise, the former Nigeria youth captain, took place in the south-eastern town of Umudim, Ohekelem, Imo State.
Promise, 31, died of a suspected heart attack in early October in the United States, according to American second-tier side Austin Bold.
Clad in black, the family gathered three months after his death to attend the burial ceremony.

Despite representing his country at all youth level, he was buried in a low-key ceremony with a no-show from top Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials.
“We sent out the programme in December, but there was no representative from the football community,” a family member told Opera News.

“Imagine a former captain of Nigeria and there was no NFF representatives among the audience, and not even a former teammate.
“This is another lesson for footballers, you are only important when you are actively involved in the game because no one cares after your career is over.”
Promise is survived by his wife Kate and three children.

Captain of the Nigeria side that won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he represented the West African nation at the under-17, under-20 and under-23 categories.
He scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Egypt in the final to help his country to continental success at the 2005 African U-20 championship in Benin.
A product of Grays International school in Kaduna, he also helped Nigeria to a runners up finish at the Fifa U-20 World Cup later that year.
He spent much of his career in Turkey, with Trabzonspor, Manisaspor and Antalyaspor among his former clubs, and also had a brief spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli.

Umuoba, Amakohia-Uratta in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State is one of suburbs surrounding the capital city of Owerri that urbanization is catching up with.

Like emerging new urban centres, social amenities are beginning to spring up in the enclave.

One of them is the “Dorcas Maternity Home”, believed to be a baby-making centre. The home, which is located on a discreet part of the community has mainly women in their 40s and 60s as clients.

Some patients of the maternity home claimed that real delivery actually take place there, in spite of reaching the age of menopause.

One of the patients, Mrs Chinyere whose is 45 years old, told our correspondent that a lot of women who have attained the age of menopause had given birth to healthy babies there.

She disclosed that although body system of the women matters, there are some patients whom the process failed to work on because of their body system and age.

Her husband, who corroborated her explanations, said that women who are three years gone in their menopause do not have the chances of conceiving at Dorcas Maternity.

“You see this thing works, I have confirmed it because my wife is pregnant now, initially I objected to it when my wife told me about the Dorcas home, I have a son of about 15 years old, I told my wife that there is no need for such, but she insisted.

“She said there is need for us to have a second issue, so, I gave my consent and she went there to register and now I know she is pregnant although she has been carrying it since 2017”, Chinyere’s husband said.

Chinyere explained that the process of conception is not different from that of a normal pregnancy. She said something would be inserted in the woman that will induce her hormonal system and after sexual intercourse with the husband; she would conceive.

Normal symptoms of pregnancy are observed, she said, but the difference is that the stomach will not be easily noticeable even after nine months.

She explained why she has been carrying her own pregnancy for two and a half years. “I have been injected and drugs administered, but I am the one delaying my own pregnancy after two and a half years.

“When I was introduced to the home, I was not told that it was expensive, I thought it would be affordable not until when I was told that to have safe delivery, I must pay the sum of N1.5million, excluding N5,000 to be paid at every antennal at the home.

“Each time you go there, it does not matter how many times, you are expected to pay same amount even at any emergency to see the matron of the home.

“As you can see, I run a local restaurant, how much do I make to go for my antenatal let alone completing the N1.5 million for my delivery. That’s why I have been carrying this pregnancy since 2017.

“Each time you show up at the maternity home, you pay N5,000. I have not even attended for the past two month”.

When she was asked about how she was fairing not going for antenatal and still carrying her baby for that couple of years; she said: “I used to feel pains around my waist and shoulders and I was told that those signs mean that the baby is still kicking, they said the time does not matter, once you complete your money, they would give you a date for delivery”.

Another patient, Mrs Uchechi who has no child, but now pregnant courtesy of the Dorcas miracle said: “My own is just 11months old. I hope to go back there for delivery when I pay my balance; the pain of carrying this pregnancy is much”.

Sunday Sun was led into the problems associated with carrying the ‘pregnancy’. Most women who carry the pregnancy, especially those who spend longer time often have problems with their husband.

According to Chinyere, their husbands sometimes lose patience and become doubtful of their pregnancy.

This, she said, had made many of the women rent temporary apartments near the centre so that they could stay and deliver and go back to their families without raising an eyebrow.

Of course, Chinyere described it as an expensive venture because only wealthy people could afford paying Dorcas and also rent apartments outside their homes for at least a year, to carry pregnancy and deliver.

So many homes, she added, have broken because of the high cost of pregnancy and delivery.

She confessed that her husband was planning to sell the only land he has to offset the N1.5million required by the maternity home for them to have a baby.

Chinyere said: “My husband and his people are presently in great dispute because of his plan to sell his land to pay for the amount demanded by the home”.

Patients of the miracle baby making home also told our correspondent that the police had severally swooped on the place and arrested the matron, but that she ended up coming out without blemish after allegedly discovering that the home was not violating any child trafficking law.

As a matter of fact, the frequent arrests, Sunday Sun gathered, seemed to have solidified the relationship between the police and the home to warrant some police officers to now also allegedly patronise it.

Matron of the home, Dorcas, swore that they were not involved in child trafficking or sale of babies at the centre, saying that everything works with faith and endurance.

Dorcas who claimed that she just delivered four women of their babies on January 22, when our correspondent visited the place again, also confirmed the high cost of having babies in the centre.

Speaking through her deputy simply called Lolo, she explained that the prohibitive cost was purely because of the high cost of the drugs.

Our correspondent had pretended to have been married for 15 years without a child and was in search of solution, stressing that he was prepared to pay any amount.

But he was told that he could only meet with the matron if he came with his wife, but he pleaded that such rule be waived for him since he was not told the conditions the first time he came because the matron was not around.

At this point, with some arrangement, Lolo offered to attend to him.

According to the home, for a start, the husband would have to submit his spermatogenesis count test to ascertain that he is potent while his wife is also thoroughly checked if her foetus can still conceive.

Then the sum of N300,000 would be deposited for the insertion and the drugs, including antenatal.

Cost of delivery according to them, varies from how many babies the parents desired, in case of a twin, she said it costs N3 million, excluding the N300,000 deposit; while it is N1.5 million for a baby, no matter the sex.

Last week, a motorist in Festac Town hit an okada rider. He was trying to negotiate a turn, while signaling with his blinker. Unfortunately the motorcycle rider was going too fast, and did not know his road signs. The result was an accident which damaged both car and motorcycle, and injured both rider and passenger. Before the driver of the car could come out of his car and offer assistance to the injured, about fifty okada riders appeared out of nowhere and descended on the driver, screaming for his blood and chanting Islamic slogans. As onlookers stared, the okada mob beat the driver of the car senseless and damaged his vehicle. He only escaped with his life after he parted with N35,000.

In December 2019, a woman was making a turn into her compound, when a crazed okada rider came out of nowhere and ran into her car. When she came out of her car to assess the damage, a mob of okada riders attacked her and tore her clothes. By the time help came from people in the area, her purse and phone had been stolen and her children watched in horror as their mother was beaten and fondled by okada hooligans. This is becoming a regular occurrence in and around Festac area.

Who are these okada riders? Where do they come from? Why are there so many of them? How come we cannot identify them? Where do they sleep at night? These are questions we have to ask ourselves, and appeal to our government and police to answer. In the last one year the influx of northerners parading as commercial bike riders, trash packers, vendors of tomato, fruits and vegetables, shoemakers, tinkers (garuwa paper), and other petty items vendors is alarming. These men come to Lagos in droves and settle wherever with no identification, no address, no documentation. Nobody knows their real names; where they come from, or how to monitor them. They parade around as cart pushers and steal drainage covers and man-hole covers, leaving gaping holes in the road. They steal generators and air conditioning units from houses and flats, and under the guise of bike riders, they rob innocent men and women at night or in the early mornings. You cannot catch them because they have no identity and no one seems to know them.

What you may find most alarming is this; they know you. They know where you live and how many children you have, but you know nothing about them. Most of them are not even Nigerian! They come from Niger and Chad and sleep outside your streets or roam around at night looking for what to steal. I overheard a group of them joking that if any of their members is killed, they will spill blood before anyone knows what is happening. They did not know that I understand Hausa, so they spoke freely.

If you live in or around festac, please forward this message to everyone you know. It’s high time we check this massive invasion and force these people to identify themselves. Let 1966 and 1967 not repeat again, because these men all carry weapons and are just waiting for a signal to use them. Before my very eyes a policeman at Mile 2 tried to impound a motorcycle for parking on the expressway, and a dozen of them drew daggers and threatened to stab him and his colleagues. This happened on Monday at Mile 2! We are in danger and we don’t seem to know or care. By the time this message gets to the LG Chairman and the State Governor, perhaps they will force these men to begin to carry ID or even reduce their huge numbers.

I am not a bigot, and I don’t have anything against any tribe. But I value the lives of my family and neighbors, and I don’t want to wait until something disastrous happens before I say something.

But in the course he called his servants and ordered them to go in and bring him cups of gold taken away by his father from the temple of God (holy and sacred cups).

He made use of them to drink wine 🍷 with his girlfriends,wives and concubines, to mock the God of Israel and made mockery of their beliefs, but He that dwells amongst men was watching him repeating the Mistakes of his father. (How many of us today are repeating the mistakes of our fathers?).

Immediately, while still merrying he saw a hand writing on the wall ( unseen finger). With an inscription
ME-NE, ME-NE, TE-KEL, U- PHAR-SIN.
Immediately he got confused and could not read out nor interpret the wordings.
Men who don’t recognise God in their lives are confused men, leaders who don’t see God as the greatest leader are confused leaders, a father who don’t see God and his father must be a confused Father.

Our nation, state, communities are in a pitiable state today because we many of us especially our so called leaders are repeating the mistakes(sins) of our fathers. We have seen their errors yet we chose to continue in it because of Pride, Arrogance, greed, hatred to others, jealousy among other things, thereby keeping our society in a perpetual suffering state. God have mercy.

Belshazzar saw what happened this father Nebuchadnezzar how he insulted God,and He that reigns amongst men caused him to live as an animal in the bush for 7years, yet he stupidly and foolishly went ahead to mock same God who dealt with his father,what hopeless generation who keeps seeing their mates die of cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, drug etc yet they indulge in it and even take it nuclear.

A generation who criticized and blamed our forefathers for their weakness and inability to save our nation from collapsing, regrets and bad management of our resources in the past, yet come to power now to do worse things than those they blamed.

A generation where Men of God who supposed to preach Peace, Love and Unity are the ones running their fellow down, joining the members to push another Man of God down because of Money, Fame, Power and church Politics.

A generation that you can hardly differentiate a Christian believer and Pagan believer, world is in the church and church is in the world now. What a shame!! What a disgrace!! What confused nation and people?

Apart from the medical angle leading to constructing, renovating and equipping of general hospitals across the state , regular subventions to both Government and Mission Hospitals in the State, regular payment of medical bills of indigent patients etc, the Commisioner has also demonstrated great commitment in adopting a socio-economic angle towards taming the monster in the health sector.

Understanding the correlation between poverty and social deviancy,the free health insurance scheme is a veritable tool to nip in the bud, the rising incidences of youth restiveness, substance abuse and other health challenges.

All the general hospitals in the state are undergoing renovation, expansion with world class facilities.

Apart from distributing tricycles, across the different health centres to help out in time of urgent need, the ministry of health under the leadership of Dr.Betta Edu is changing the narratives in our hospitals and health centres across board.

Cross River State in the next three and half years would be counted among those that have attained the Sustainable Development Goals in public health.

The Federal and other State Governments should as a matter of priority device further pro-active measures towards diversifying methods and approaches to guaranteeing the general health of its citizens. As it is often and rightly said: “Health is wealth.”

A governor/President will spend quality 4years in office without any significant project to show for it yet he will be appraised and campaign for the second 4years simply because he is our party man, we must deliver our party and the masses can go to blazes.They support un-performed/un-performing governors to continue wasting public funds because he from our political party,if your dare say anything against him, it will be termed antiparty activities. All because there are operating one party system. But the lawmakers should be the one to challenge the government to the right things and if he refuses they start impeachment process against him and this will force him to reverse to the needful.But be it as it may, they are like taxies with garage, always following the government of the day because of longer throat. And that is why they don’t make laws and some states they make laws that will enable the government of the day to what pleases him and get away with it, not considering what happens when another party and government takes over. During that last administration all the 27 local government house members were of one party, what a shame?After 2019 general election when the PDP was declared winner most lawmakers from APGA, AA, APC and other parties immediately cross carpeted to PDP including the Current Speaker who defected from APGA and became the speaker, seven months later the Supreme Court of Nigeria reverse the judgement in favour of APC which is still confusing many political stake holders in the country, just six days after the ruling by the apex court, ten out of the 27 law makers has on the first day of resumption defected to APC and others warming up to join theor colleagues. chai a show of shame and un-seriousness.How will they checkmate the executive, how will they make solid laws to guide the executive, how can their constituencies benefits from government since there is no law protecting their rights and privileges, how can the governor perform well since there is no watch dog? I wept and continue to weep for my country Nigeria and IMO state.Where are their integrity? Where are their political swag? Where are their educational powers? Where are the intelligence in them? Who even voted them in power? All these and more should be considered. Why are they so cheap to be bought over? Is it still poverty?I want to suggest to the National assembly to amend political and INEC acts to see that nobody elected in any political party has the right to defect until he or she spends at least 8years in that party as a member or political office holders, this help checkmate this prostitution by our politicians. MAIDEN BROADCAST TO THE PEOPLE OF IMO STATE.

Nd’Imo ndi nwem, I greet you all.
It gives me great pleasure to address you today. A few days ago, precisely on Wednesday January 15, it pleased God Almighty for me to be sworn in as the duly elected governor of our dear state, following the historic judgment of the Supreme Court the previous day.

I recall that on that event a large, enthusiastic crowd of our people thronged the airport and the swearing-in venue, Hero’s Square, to welcome me and to witness the ceremony. That was a clear indication that Ndi Imo joyfully welcomed my final emergence as the governor of the state. I recall too that an unprecedented large crowd of our people enthusiastically received me on November 15, 2018 when I clinched the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the governorship candidate of the party. I was the front runner in the state all through electioneering. I deeply appreciate these uncommon show of support and love and I thank you profoundly.

I deem it necessary at this point to address you, my dear good people of Imo state to assure you of my commitment, totally and unreservedly, to your wellbeing and security and to acquaint you with my vision for a new Imo State where equality and the rule of law shall reign supreme.

About a year ago, precisely on January 11, 2019, I unveiled a manifesto of my developmental ambitions for our dear Imo State to a gathering of eminent persons. Addressing that audience, I told them that the occasion marked the beginning of a new partnership between key stakeholders and a governorship candidate. Indeed, it was the first occasion of its kind in which the governorship candidate of a political party involved real stakeholders of Imo State in sharing a common vision of where we stand in the geo-political map of our nation and where we ought to be.

Well, so much proverbial water has passed under the axiomatic bridge since that occasion and following the trials and hectic tribulations of the campaign trail, I stand before you today as governor of our great state, solely by the uncommon grace of God to whom I give all the glory for the momentous Supreme Court judgment of January 14, 2020.

That said, I urge every true man, woman and youth of Imo State to put the past behind us, without throwing away the lessons learnt, as we forge ahead in the great task of building a New Imo State defined by the common will of the people, in which equity, justice, freedom, and rule of law prevail over impunity and executive recklessness. This is the essence of good governance and it is my firm belief that democracy without good governance is nothing but a mirage.

I believe that every man, woman, youth and child of Imo State is a stakeholder in my vision of a New Imo State. I therefore invite all of you to join me as partners in this new vision of a New Imo State for all Imo people, where everyone is recognized and respected as an Imo person, not on the basis of creed, gender or origin but because of his or her inalienable right as an Imo son or daughter. I strongly believe that our concept of governance which derives power from the people shall leverage your collective support as partners to deliver the great dividends of democracy and good governance to our people.

My good people of Imo State, my vision of a New Imo State is predicated on freedom, security, and shared prosperity welded into good governance. The evidence on ground indicates that Imo State requires fundamental reform to forge a new trajectory.

We have witnessed, over ten years now, a slow, steady but devastating loss of the core values that had defined our dear, adorable Imo State. In place of those cherished ideals, an insipid culture of lawlessness and neo-feudalism had crept into the body fabric of our state. The time is now to take action and free our state and her people from the strangle hold of the false religion of executive lawlessness, exclusive governance and total disregard to due process. I challenge every Imo man, woman, youth and child to hold us by the same standards and the same scales by which we judge past administrations.

The New Imo State offers a new paradigm to redress the ripples of those years of maladministration, inexperience and outright inefficiency in public administration. The New Imo State will prove to our good people that government is not instituted to deride the people, but instead to protect ‘citizens’ fundamental rights. Our New Imo State will restore financial discipline, entrench due process and conduct government business in the most transparent fashion. The New Imo State incorporates a new development trajectory that will harness the critical role of Local Government Councils in downstream value chain creation.

In line with the provisions of the Constitution, we shall urgently restore the autonomy and integrity of Local Government Administration. Thank God therefore, for the objective effort of the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari in uncoupling the local government finances from the meddlesome interests of state officials. The dynamic LG System of our New Imo State will guarantee the steady trickle down of democracy dividends to the atomized hamlets and clans of our rural communities. To actualize this, credible Local government elections will be held soon.
Our New Imo State will enshrine a new culture of shared prosperity in which the common wealth of the people is made available for the good of all. Above all, it is a new Imo State that will ensure good governance, prosperity, rule of law and equity. The Mission cuts across party line, religious leaning and intra ethnic divides. From now on it will no longer be governance as usual, but governance of the people, by the people and for the people, without discrimination against anyone.
In practical terms therefore, the trajectory of development in the New Imo State of our vision is anchored on a “3-R” super structure of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery of key economic and political institutions that all of us will be proud of. In this wise, the New Imo State envisions the overhaul of State Civil Service and relevant institutions of the Bureaucracy for optimal efficiency and Service delivery- involving prompt payment of salaries, pensions and other statutory obligations to spur officers to greater productivity.

Accordingly, the following standards shall be maintained:
• Strict adherence to extant laws, procedures, and Statutes pertaining to an efficient service delivery.
Civil Servants to be trained in line with new Digital Technology ecosystem platform in liaison with some Technology Incubation Centres. Hierarchy and Seniority in the Public Service shall be restored forthwith to ensure discipline and adherence to Civil Service Rules.
Emoluments of core Civil Servants shall continue to be drawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund, (CRF) and paid promptly but not later than every month end. Pensions and Gratuities shall likewise continue to be treated as First Line Charge to the CRF in accordance with the provisions of the law.Specifically, the salaries of Civil Servants and allowances of pensioners will henceforth be paid fully. Similarly, the State Government will commence payment of minimum wage once negotiation with Labour leaders is completed.

Recruitment, Promotion and Discipline in the Civil Service shall be patterned to reflect the NEW IMO Paradigm. Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER) shall now include an objective assessment of discrete output and supported with concrete evidence of MCIP (Mandatory Career Improvement Programme).
The Treasury System shall be restored and the 27 Sub-Treasuries in the 3- Geo-political Zones restored to ensure a seamless downstream government service delivery in the Rural Communities.

We shall promote a Digital Technology-driven Civil Service to ensure real-time service delivery.A staff Housing Loan scheme and Vehicle Advances shall be put in place in partnership with the Mortgage and Commercial Banks, guaranteed by Government, through the facilities of a revamped State Development Finance Incorporated, (DFIC.).
We shall encourage hard work, resilience, honesty, and diligence in the New Imo Public Service.

My esteemed Ndi Imo, our New Imo State will incorporate an IMO STATE EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY PROGRAMME (ISEOP) involving but not limited to a highly functional qualitative technology and science-driven education system focused on skills acquisition, innovation, manpower development, and entrepreneurship.

• The New Imo State will crave for: an Educational System that has capacity to produce a new generation of Graduates equipped for immediate post school employment and self-reliance.

• An Educational Programme to enhance innovation, and creative Human Capital with capacity to add value to State and nation building.

• Build Foundation for innovative Human Capital that shall drive downstream value chain creation.

• Mandatory Professional Teachers Continuous Education Programme in line with the transformative impact of Digital Technology on Education.

• Provide Measured Financial Support to students with exceptional pedigree in academics, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Other lateral non-financial support include, mentoring, career guidance and counseling, etc.

• Establishment of a Job Placement Office – to enhance job search and placement, Internship (IT) and other career related programmes for graduates.

• Establishment of Diaspora Learning Centres for Student Exchange and Technology Incubation Centres in the USA, UK, China and Canada, etc.

• Development of a new Curriculum for schools that would integrate skills learning, innovation and entrepreneurship required to fit into the new Digital ecosystem.

• Establishment of New Digital learning Environment with cognate Digital Teaching Tools and Programmes in Six Pilot Centres within the Three Senatorial zones of the State.

• Restoration of Inspectorate Division in all the Zonal School Management Boards to enhance academic quality and content delivery, etc.
Similarly, our government will undertake the following in the health care delivery sector:

• Comprehensive Medicare with focus on Primary Health Care, and Preventive Medical Care services. Within the first two years of this administration, we would have attained a 75% Health For All (HEFA), covering the 27 LGCs.

• We shall recruit 850 Community Health Workers to strengthen existing Primary Health Care System workforce in the state in the first year.

• In Collaboration with Local Government Councils, we shall rehabilitate, renovate and equip all dilapidated Community Health Centres in the 305 Wards of the State, within the first one year in Office.

• Run an integrated and holistic healthcare delivery system with modern diagnostic equipment, CT scan, and Mobile X-ray, in selected Zonal General Hospitals and Health Centres, etc.

• Provide a well-equipped Rapid Response Ambulance Services (RAMS) in the Zonal Divisional Hospitals, and Central Rural Health Centres to enhance an efficient 24/7 Health Support in all the Local Government Areas.

• Establish a value-based healthcare as opposed to the present “fee for performance Healthcare model.” Emphasis in our NEW IMO Health architecture shall be: optimal patient outcome, patient safety, and efficient professional and dynamic work force, etc.

• Establishment of Drug Revolving Trading Accounts (DRTA) in the Hospitals, and Health Centres for “Essential” and “Non-Essential Drugs.” to ensure adequate stock of life-saving drugs. Each Hospital or Health Centre shall operate a guided Self-Accounting Status to ensure that the Drug Revolving Regime is effectively managed, and accounts rendered.

• Restoration of Sanitary Health Inspection to support a holistic Primary Health/Preventive Medicare programme of government.

• A NEW IMO Health architecture would include urgent Rehabilitation of the moribund Schools of Nursing, Mid-Wifery in Owerri, Aboh Mbaise, and Awo-Omamma. Awo-Omamma and Aboh Mbaise shall, in liaison with the Nursing and Mid-Wifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), be converted into collegiate systems for Basic Mid-Wifery .These very important health training institutions shall be rehabilitated and equipped within the first one year of our administration to ensure early and seamless accreditation. We shall review our standing with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in relation to equipment and materials supplied to these institutions and government counterpart funding, etc.

• Establish criteria for research and integration of alternativemedicine or Traditional Medical practice (Trado-medicine) into NEW IMO medical practices.

• The IMSU College of Medicine, and the Teaching Hospital at Orlu, the Public Health Laboratory, and the Specialist Hospitals in Owerri, shall be equipped for Laser Surgeries, as well as serve as Regional Medical Informatics Centres, for the Southeast Region. The abandoned MRI and other sensitive scanning Machines mysteriously transferred from IMSUTH Orlu to “OCHIEDIKE,” shall be rehabilitated and restored for services in accordance with existing MoU with GE, and Howard International Medical Center, USA.
On the economy, our focus in the New Imo State shall be job creation and massive economic growth. To this end we shall ensure:

• Mainstream Macro-Economic Programme which will involve a “3-R” Algorithm, recovery of damaged economic structures, reconstruction of core infrastructure, and rehabilitation of component micro-economic institutions – Micro-Small-Medium-Enterprises via Public Private Partnership (PPP).
(MSMEs).

• Rapid economic Diversifications through “Backward Integration,” involving a synergy of Rural-Urban development paradigm. A shift from core public sector driven economy to a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) driven one.

• Encourage private sector-driven knowledge based enterprise system. Provide enabling environment and selective policy intervention to bolster sustainable Medium Small Micro Enterprises (MSMEs).

• Encourage Diaspora Rural Economic Partnership – Local Government Rural Malls, and Small-Scale Industries – agriculture, and Farm Settlements via Farmers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies, etc.

• Stimulate downstream Value Chain through intervention and support to MSMEs, and thus generate employment opportunities at Local Government levels.

• Ensure that De Sam Mbakwe’s International Cargo Airport receives URGENT Federal Government support, and provisions to qualify for IATA approval – for Air Safety and increased Traffic flow.

• Establishment of Graduate Entrepreneurship Scheme to equip graduates with requisite set of skills for self-employment in the evolving Fourth Industrial Revolution. About 750 graduates shall benefit from the initial phase ofthe GES Programme. Government shall provide necessary guarantees for Start-ups through the facilities of State Development Finance and Investment Corporation (DFIC).

• Establishment of State Economic Development And Rehabilitation Council (SEDARC) -to provide remedial framework and templates to redress the chronic fiscal and infrastructural deficits militating against State economic development. SEDARC shall address key economic challenges of the State- Abandoned Roads in Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe Metropolis, the Collapsing bridges, the abandoned Otamiri Water scheme, etc. shall receive the immediate attention of SEDARC.

• In addition, SEDARC shall fully identify, locate and recover all missing Public Assets, as well as coordinate a forensic investigation into the State Finances and determine the veracity of the huge public Debts estimated at over N200 billion, as well establish the Net-worth/Balance Sheet of the State Government as at January 13, 2020.

• SEDARC shall also recover all illegally acquired Private Lands, estates by Government or its agents and return them to their rightful owners.

• SEDARC shall abolish all forms of unconscionable “Imperial,” Taxes, levies, and fees other than that established by law which its applications shall not impoverish the citizens. The State BIR shall in liaison with SEDARC develop a new IMO INTERNAL REVENUE MENU that maximizes IGR Per Capita Contribution to the State GDP.

• Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) shall be re-activated and in liaison with the State DEVELOPMENT FINANCE AND INVESTMENT CORPORATION (DFIC)engage in active trading in Nigeria’s Capital and Money Markets and by so doing build-up formidable portfolio of Financial Assets to support Government’s Treasury Services, etc.

Ndi Imo eji eme onu, good governance- democracy and rule of law are the fundamental components of the New Imo State. Consequently,

• We shall recover and deepen lost virtues of liberal democracy in Imo State. Our government shall tenaciously uphold the pillars of good governance- security of life and property, right to own private properties, inclusiveness, pursuit of legitimate economic endeavours, rule of law, accountability and transparency, respect for human rights, honesty and trust.

• Our Government shall be accountable to the people of Imo State and shall adhere to the Anti-Corruption Mantra of our great Party, APC.

• We shall dismantle all existing structures in the State Civil Service that encouraged the massive looting of public funds. It takes a willing Civil Servant and an overbearing politician to engage in covert expropriation of commonwealth. Civil Servants who are part of the existing mode of plundering the Treasury shall be handed over to the appropriate Anti-Graft Agencies.

• In addition to the conduct of a credible local government elections soon, we shall reconstitute the State-Local Government Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JACC,) (a prototype of the FAAC) to manage and superintend overLocal Government’s Funds. Accordingly, all deductions from Local Government funds are hereby stopped. Local Governments will henceforth receive their full allocation and be accountable for same.

• The State Government shall contribute 10% of its net IGR to JAAC as state Governments counterpart Funds towards rural economic and social development.

• The Autonomy of Local Government shall be restored forthwith.

• To Ensure Maximum Security in Imo State we shall IMMEDIATELY establish a new Security architecture – aided with installation of State of the Arts Digital Technology/equipment linked to the 27 LGCs/DPO to enhance crime detection, intelligence gathering, tracking and apprehension of criminals, etc.

• We shall create a Neighbourhood Security Watch code named ‘North East West’ (NEW) involving a coordinated network of Community Intelligence Gathering Programme in liaison with the NPF, DSS, NSCDC, NSO and some Private Security Companies. In tandem, we shall launch Operation “FOC,” (Flush Out Criminals) – a combined Security Operations targeted at Flashpoints and Centres of high criminal activities, including hide outs, jungles, uncompleted buildings, forest, shrines, lakes and creeks, etc. Whether in Ohaji Egbema, or Nwaorieubi Shrine at Ifakala, or in the thick jungle at Akokwa, or Njaba or Urashi, We shall rout them and free our society of the menace of banditry, kidnappings, and ritual killings including Yahoo-Plus, and Alibaba Gangstars. It shall be a “SAD” season for criminals in Imo State.

• Community Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Presidents shall be held responsible for any security lapses within their domain Failure to Report, concealing or benefiting directly or indirectly from proceeds of criminal activities, shall attract maximum punishment . A cash reward shall be announced for a Whistle-blowing Campaign. Our NEW IMO STATE shall no longer be a haven for kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists, Yahoo Plus, and Alibaba Gangs, baby factory, ritualists, human trafficking, etc.

• As an honest and transparent government, we shall hold quarterly Imo Stakeholders Forum (ISHF) to provide interim government Report Card and provide answers to Frequently Asked Questions, (FAQs) and concerns of citizens. The State Ministry of Information shall likewise provide Monthly briefings on government activities.

• We believe that power belongs to the people and not the other way around. Government is not instituted to deride the people, but to protect their fundamental rights. We shall be responsible and accountable to the good people of Imo State. This is the dawn of a New Imo.
My beloved people of Imo State, with your enthusiastic support and encouragement, the work has already begun for the building of the NEW IMO of our dreams.

However, there is need for vigilance. It is crystal clear to me that some of those who lost out in the final battle at the Supreme Court, where the real winner of the March 2019 governorship election was determined, are finding it difficult to come to grips with reality. They have consequently resorted to mischief making and incitement of the public. They spread falsehood against me and the government. They sponsor pockets of protests against the government and seek to divide us on clannish grounds. They deride our own institutions when such institutions take decisions that do not favour them.

Let me make it clear that while our doors are wide open to accommodate everyone, including my political opponents, and while we insist on enduring peace and reconciliation, we shall not brood any reckless breach of the laws of the land. Those encouraging or sponsoring any breach of public peace should desist forthwith or face the full wrath of the law. Make no mistake about it, I have a responsibility to govern Imo State and to maintain the peace therefrom. In the discharge of these duties I shall not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law on anybody, no matter how highly placed, who constitutes himself or herself into a public nuisance. I also advise law abiding people of our beloved state to resist attempts to be used for selfish reasons by desperate politicians.

We know those behind these incitements; who are sowing seeds of discord to divide our state. I appeal to them to have a rethink and remember that power comes from God and that even more importantly, no election is the end of elections but rather the confirmation that more elections are ahead. So the losers today can be the winners tomorrow and next tomorrow.
As we celebrate the birth of a new Imo which we achieved with your support, it is time for us to harp on the things that unite us not on the things that divide us.

I recall clearly that on the eve of the elections, our people were determined to ensure that no one imposed a political dynasty on them. It was the collective desire of all Imo people to see to it that our democracy was preserved in all its true tenets, to wit, government of the people for the people and by the people. As the arrowhead in that battle, Imo people voted massively for me. This fact should not be lost on anybody.

Today, through your votes we have succeeded in disabling that obnoxious structure and dangerous ambition. Regardless, I appeal to you therefore to avail me of your total support to bring the valiant mission of a New Imo State to its logical conclusion. I count very much on your support and cooperation

On the 22nd of January there was report about the four sisters raped by Fulani herdsmen. The question is how far with the police investigation. Below is story.

Four Fulani herdsmen who raped 4 sisters at Manger village in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State have been arrested.

The four suspects identified as Hamisu Mohammed, 18, Rayanu Mohammed, 15, Mustapha Yunusa, 15 and Abbas Salisu, 17, accosted the minors on their way home before committing the sad act.

Recounting how the incident occurred, one of the girls said they were threatened with sticks and later struck with it by the suspects after they resisted. The herdsmen then reportedly took turns to rape the injured girls.

The suspects were however apprehended after the sisters ran to a nearby village Luwapem, where they raised an alarm.

The herdsmen who are currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, admitted to conspiring to rape the girls and eventually doing it. Prosecuting Inspector E. A. Inegbenoise told newsmen that the suspects will be charged to court after investigation has been concluded.

It will be recalled that this is not the first time such atrocities against innocent citizens of this nation by herdsmen. But the question remains how many have been tried and convicted? How many are imprison? How are many are walking freely today?

It’s high time our government should take a decisive action against this killers because if the public choose to defend themselves the outcome may be uncontrollable.

A Gallup poll shows the Republican Party firmly behind President Donald Trump as he faces impeachment, with 93 percent opposed to a Senate impeachment conviction and removal, and 51 percent of Americans overall agree.

But the poll also reveals broader support for the president, reported later in the article:

Forty-six percent of Americans say they would like their senators to vote to convict Trump and remove him from office, while 51 percent want their senators to vote against conviction so Trump will remain as president.
Like his approval rating, Trump’s impeachment figures are also sharply divided along partisan lines. Ninety-three percent of Republicans are opposed to convicting Trump and 84 percent of Democrats favor doing so. Independents are evenly divided, with 49 percent in favor and 46 percent opposed.

The poll also showed that 88 percent of Republicans, 37 percent of independents and 10 percent of Democrats approve of the job Trump is doing.

Gallup compared Trump’s impeachment with that of former President Bill Clinton, although the poll does not reflect the differences in the articles of impeachment for the two presidents.

“The president’s own party is about as opposed to impeachment for Trump as the Democratic Party was for Clinton; but the opposition party and political independents are more strongly aligned against Trump than they were against Clinton”, Gallup reported.
Seven percent of Republicans today, versus 8% of Democrats in 1999, wanted the Senate to remove a president of their own party.

65 percent of Republicans wanted Clinton removed, but 84 percent of Democrats want to see Trump ousted today..

Thirty-two percent of independents wanted Clinton removed from office, compared with 49 percent wanting the same for Trump.

Gallup notes that both Clinton and Trump’s impeachment trials took place during a strong economy, but “Trump is operating in a much more partisan environment than Clinton was” and the polarization in the country is holding Trump’s job approval ratings down.

The Gallup poll was conducted in telephone interviews from January 2 to January 15, 2020, with a random sample of 1,014 adults 18 years or older and all living in the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.
The margin of error is plus or minus four percent with a 95 percent confidence level.

Chief Charles Ezekwem Cries Out,Says He Was A Stranger In PDP

Apparently worried at the volume of calls and concerned expressed by people across party lines on his recent resignation,the immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,in Imo State,High Chief Barr. Charles Babatunde Ezekwem ( Ikemba Okigwe) has said that despite his efforts in returning the party back to government house after 12 years,he was made a stranger in the part by few cabals.

Speaking to a cross section of the Media in Owerri, Ezekwem who thanked God for using him to return PDP back to the Douglas House of Imo State ,explained that his problem with the former governor ,Emeka Ihedioha started after the party primaries where he was alleged to have worked for Senator SamDaddy Anayanwu.

According to the Ikemba Okigwe who was a former Council Chairman and Development Center Coordinator,” I took over a party that can at best be described as a one man business,but to the glory of God I natured the party back to its normal status of Peoples Democratic Party”.

He noted that before his emergence as the State Party Chairman that Imo PDP was without a viable leadership and motivation which he said made the party to witness a mass Exodus of her members to APGA, which he stressed appeared an alternative option to many aspirants.

The astute progressive politician who has remained consistent with PDP since 2000 till date, maintained that he used his good will and ingenuity as the party chairman to convince most aspirants at various levels including,Samdaddy Anayanwu,Prof Jude Njoku,Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru among others that contested the governorship ticket with Ihedioha in 2018.

He declared that all through the period he was chairman that Ihedioha never worked with him as the party chairman,but rather preferred to be working with the State party Secretary.

The former party chairman who alleged that Ihedioha has severally held vital meetings of the party with Some selected leaders without his knowledge, also said that the former governor held meetings with PDP elected members without him in attendance.

Ezekwem ,further hinted that he has been severally humiliated in state government events, but decided not to complain.

” Where has it been seen or done before that a state chairman of a ruling party will attend a state function without a recognized seat ” he declared.

He opined that despite the intervention of former Governor Achike Udenwa whom he said remains his political leader,that he never enjoyed the privileges due to his position as the state party chairman.

Ezekwem ,who explained that he was never an aide to Ihedioha ,but rather the state chairman of the party ,stressed that all the threats of sacking him from being the party chairman by Ihedioha’s men immediately after the last supreme court judgment which they thought will favour was made open to him regardless of his personal efforts and sacrifices he made for the party .

He alleged that although his tenure will end by August this year,that Ihedioha and his cabal within the party has penciled down another politician from Okigwe zone to take over from him who will conduct the March party congress.

He noted that he rejected the Commissionership position offered him by former governor Rochas Okorocha,when they were dissolved as council chairman, because of his high regard for PDP and Ohakim who made it possible for him to be elected council chairman,stressed that the last plan of Ihedioha’s men were to pass a vote of no confidence on him and remove him shamelessly before his due date of August.

Ikemba Okigwe ,who expressed great sadness at the level if threats and ill treatment he received from Ihedioha as party chairman,said that in a meeting he was presiding officer that the party Secretary read out a resolution of suspending some party chairmen without his consent.

He declared that all his attempt and efforts to revise the suspension order slammed on those chairmen could not stand even when Chief E C Iwuanyanwu tried to make them see reasons with his position as the party chairman.

He disclosed that what the party did was to lift the suspension of the Ikeduru party chairman because of Iwuanyanwu.

“Gerald Irona, who was the deputy governor to Emeka Ihedioha, told my people that as long as they are following me, they will never get any appointment in government. After I worked very hard to install a governor in Imo State after many years of opposition I was treated like a stranger. There was nothing they were doing in the government I knew.

“I revived the party in Imo State and preached the message of free-and-fair primary. Imo people know and saw what I did but I was left out of everything they were doing in government.”

Ezekwem who maintained that he consulted widely before arriving at his decision to resign his position and as a member of the party,however made it clear that he does not belong to any other political party for now.

My name is Adaora Gwulike. I am 28 years old and I am a married lady with two beautiful kids Andre and Emily. I am from Owerri a popular town in the Eastern part of Nigeria.

I got married to Chukwuebuka on the 24th January, 2015 when i was just 23 years old. I got married to Chukwuebuka because i love him so much and he showered so much love on me during our six months courtship.

Chukwuebuka’s parents and mine supported our marriage and blessed our marriage with their prayers and financial support. My parents and Ebuka’s parents, made our wedding the talk of the town with beautiful gifts and dishes prepared by them.

Everybody seemed to like the idea of Ebuka getting married to me except his only sibling (his sister).

She showed me so many attitude ever since Ebuka introduced my to her as his wife to be. She was always hostile towards me and i over heard her times without number, telling Ebuka not to get married to me and most times she ends up crying and pleading. This gesture always surprise me whenever i witness it but i couldn’t ask Ebuka the reason cause i feel it should be private between the both of them.

A year after our marriage i gave birth to Andre my first child and two years later, Emily also showed up. I lived in peace and harmony with my husband for these number of years not until i witnessed sometime that changed me forever.

On a faithful Friday morning, i dressed up my kids to take them to school as it was my turn to carry out that particular duty. After dressing them up and having breakfast together as a family, i kissed my husband to the admiration of my kids and we left the house. Few minutes after leaving the house, i got a call from Ebuka that his only sister just returned from the states and that she would be visiting us so i should try to rush home after work to prepare dinner so we can give her a welcome party.

On hearing of her return, i became so sad. I dropped and kids at school and hurried to work. On getting to my door post at work, i remembered i forgot my flash drive that contains files for a presentation i will be doing later in the day for my company’s prospective client. So i rushed back home to get the flash drive and behold i saw my sister-inlaw’s car parked outside my house. At that point, i became scared but when inside to get my flash drive.

Immediately i entered my house, i saw my husband making love to his only sister in the sitting room. I was heart broken and so hurt at that moment. I quitely left the house and went to a fast food around my house.

Please my readers i need your advise. I dont know what to do at this moment cause i love my husband and i dont want my kids to grow up being seperated from their parents. please what should i do?

My friend is dying
It began on the fateful morning of 23rd December 2019, few months after the birth of her last baby,she felt a slight discomfort in her abdomen.within the next 24hours,the abdomen became heavily swollen,several trips to different hospitals in Nigeria, FMC Owerri,FMC Umuahia,UNTH, to mention a few,began to no avail.

After so many months moving from one hospital to another,With no clear diagnosis,We manage to raise small money for her to go to India.fortis hosp in India,after 3days , diagnosed total liver failure from a syndrome called “Budd chiari Syndrome”.

The only option for her survival,is an urgent liver transplant and the total cost of the surgery (both for d donor and herself) is 37000 USD(approx 14million naira) all her doctors report is included too,,She is in dire need of financial help.,,we are very desperate, cos her condition is getting worse each passing day.

Her abdomen is largely distended and swollen,,Eyes sunken and yellowish due to the jaundice ,with episodes of intense pain,that makes her pass out for hours.Friends have tried to raising the funds, but we cant really do much
pls we are pleading to all well wishers in Nigeria and all over the world to help my sister live again.

Cameroon’s conflict intensifies ahead of elections. 


The New Humanitarian reports that armed separatist rebels and government forces have stepped up arrests, abductions and deadly attacks in Cameroon’s north-west and south-west regions ahead of parliamentary and municipal elections on Sunday. Aid workers, residents and experts warn that the conflict risks entering a new and more dangerous phase, and that civilians are increasingly caught in the crossfire. The UN has recorded a significant increase in incidents against civilians since December, including killings and burnings of houses and villages. In a report released on Thursday,

Amnesty International also documented a surge in violence and new displacement. Separatists have threatened further violence and death to anyone, including aid workers, who does not observe a six day “lockdown” in the two regions that begins today. Meanwhile, military raids carried out since the new year have reportedly resulted in dozens of deaths and thousands of people fleeing into the bush.

Hungary closes Serbian border crossing to protesting asylum-seekers. Police in Hungary temporarily closed a border crossing with Serbia late on Thursday as several hundred asylum-seekers held a peaceful sit-in protest on the Serbian side demanding to be allowed to cross. The group, which included families with children from countries including Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen and Iraq, had walked about 10 kilometres from the northern Serbian city of Subotica holding handwritten banners reading, “we are refugees, not criminals” and “we are running from war, not hunger”.

Serbian authorities later bussed the asylum-seekers back to several government-run reception centres and the border was re-opened this morning. Hungarian police have reported a sharp rise in attempts to cross the country’s southern border since December. Last week, about 70 people tried to cross in the night but were driven back by police firing warning shots.

UNHCR urges action to end “alarming” conditions on Greek islands.

The UN refugee agency today called on Greece to use emergency measures to address alarming overcrowding and precarious conditions for asylum-seekers and migrants staying on five Aegean islands where more than 36,000 people are now staying at facilities designed for 5,400 people. The dire conditions and long waits for asylum-seekers to be transferred to the mainland led to protests on Lesvos earlier this week. Local communities have also protested and demanded action to alleviate pressure on the islands in recent weeks. The New York Times reports on the situation on Samos, where over 6,700 people are staying in and around a centre designed for a tenth of that number and where asylum-seekers and locals are all bearing the shared brunt of forces beyond their control.
