NDLEA links drug abuse to rise in rape cases across Nigeria.
Drug abuse has been described as one of the factors responsible for the rise in the number of rape cases in Nigeria.

Ondo State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA Haruna Dagara gave this indication at an event to commemorate the 2020 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Akure, the state capital.
The increasing cases of rape across Nigeria has reached an alarming rate, fueling several protest with the call for stiffer punishment against rapists.
The Ondo State NDLEA Command during the year in review got 27 people convicted of drug offences while a total of 150 arrests were made.
The Agency is soliciting the cooperation of all stakeholders to mitigate the impact of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the society.
