Imo Guber: ALGON Pledges Support For PDP Candidate, Anyanwu – Vows To Return LGAs To Its Pride Of Place

The leadership of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Imo State Chapter has pledged its unflinching support for the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu in the November 11 election, and vowed to return the 27 LGAs in the state to its original pride of place.

The group who served as Executive Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councillors and Supervisory Councillors in 2018 made this pledge when they paid a special visit to the PDP standard bearer on Sunday at his residence in Owerri.

Speaking, state Chairman of ALGON, Hon Barr Austin Mbagwu and former Executive Chairman of Nkwerre local government area said that among all those vying for the number one position in the state, the PDP Candidate appeared to be more credible, reliable, humble, formidable and determined to bring peace in the state.

Barr Mbagwu further reiterated the resolve of his members to support Senator Anyanwu and his Deputy, Rt Hon Onyereri in the November election, expressing optimism that Imo state would be liberated from the shackles of division, kidnapping, poverty, violence and thuggery once they were elected to preside over the affairs of the state.

According to him, the state has witnessed peace, unity and a secured society during previous administrations, regretting that under the present government, hundreds of innocent lives have been reportedly lost for committing no crime.

The ALGON Chairman further expressed surprise that after a court of competent jurisdiction gave judgement restoring them as Chairmen, the government has refused to implement the order and as well, denied all avenues aimed at ensuring that all their accumulated and outstanding allowances were paid.

While assuring that his members would join hands with patriotic Nigerians to return peace to the state by massively voting for the PDP candidate, Barr Mbagwu also pleaded with Imo people not to allow this opportunity to flip off their hands.

Commending them for the bold step, the PDP Governorship Candidate, Senator Anyanwu described them as true agents of change who have rejected all financial inducement for the sake of making Imo safe again.

Anyanwu, while wondering why Imo people were killed daily like goats by suspected armed militia group alleged to be loyal to the APC, further promised to stop restiveness, corruption, thuggery, and as well restore confidence that would guarantee lasting peace and unity with a view to boosting the state’s economy.

He charged them not to limit the mobilization to only their members, adding that since the project was to make Imo Safe Again, every willing Imo person at the grassroot should be incorporated to be able to realize the mandate.

While charging Imo people not to be afraid of APC intimidation and harassment in its desperate bid to retain power, assuring that no vote cast for PDP in the November election would ever be hijacked by anyone.
