The Bayelsa State Police Command said on Saturday that security operatives had rescued a foreign national, who was abducted by a gang of gunmen at a construction site along the Igbedi-Amassoma Road in the state.
The police, in a statement by the spokesman for the command, Asinim Butswat, said the security personnel guarding the construction site killed one of the kidnappers.
Butswat said the expatriate was rescued unhurt by a combination of joint task force, including Navy and Army operatives around the Ogboibiri waterways, but did not disclose the identity and country of the victim.
He said, “The kidnappers escaped with varying degrees of bullet wound. Efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing kidnappers.”
