On Friday the 14th of August 2020 at about at 0930 hrs, a gas tanker which had finished discharging its product at Forteoil, irete, Owerri west LGA of Imo state, while trying negotiate a U-turn to head back to Owerri metropolis, a Toyota J5 coming in high speed from Onitsha and couldn’t control the its speed, ran into the tanker from the rear which immediately ignited fire and the two vehicles burst into flames .
Sequel to the above, the conductor of the vehicle lost his life in the inferno, while the driver sustained first degree burns.
Also, a saloon car which was negotiating the same U-turn at the period was caught up in the inferno, the driver escaped unhurt, but regrettably he lost his car in the process, as it was burnt beyond repair.
However, the fire was put out by the officers of the Federal Fire service, while the corpse of the deceased was removed to the morgue and the injured driver taken to the hospital for treatment.
As at the time of thsi report Effort is on going to remove the remains of the three burnt vehicles as normalcy has been restored.
